Dizzy - I have to admit checking your comments at least once a day. Less of the vomit comments please - I did shower!

VG - We voted for your DS's joke with the visiting kids.

We have been out today and wasted money bought DD some cruising shoes, I am so tired of having to run across the garden to rescue her from the holly leaves poking her toes. She stood by herself today (shoeless) and looked as us then got excited and fell over, it only lasted 20 seconds or so. [proud mummy]

Expectant - wow, you are going to have your hands full!

Cyteen - what a great phrase - will be using it again.

Red - have you tried the 'the tooth fairy only takes good quality teeth and if you don't brush them she won't want them.'?

We think DD's vomiting is due to her guzzling food too fast, this morning she guzzled her BF so fast like she had never been fed even though she had had a feed an hour earlier. Tonight it was because she stuffed about an inch of banana in her mouth and refused to spit it out so she chewed and chewed, choked, vomited and proceeded to eat the rest of the banana . The poo was due to imcompetant nappying by DH.

Back later.

Hurray on the standing Oops.
DD2 had her first go yesterday and was delighted with herself.

She is growing up so fast-like you TS I can just feel that transition from babyhood kicking in and while it is lovely to have her peeping back from behind doors when I call her or following me to have lunch with DD1 it is bittersweet to be leaving her baby days behind.

Thanks for all your thoughtful comments about the teeth thing. We have tried every kind of tooth brush. The tooth fairy thing is a lovely idea but won't wash with a boy who is enthused about how smart drugs work I fear.

On one level it comes down to what VG described: a genuine aversion to having the feeling of the toothbrush at the back of his mouth. I have finally concluded a similar battle over toe-nail cutting which comes down to the same fear of being meddled with. If I say that when I was pregnant with DD1 the thing that put me off having a second most was the prospect of toenail cutting you'll get the picture of how tricky this is.

I stick with a joky CBT thing of asking him to rate the experience on a scale from blowing his nose to having his head cut off. I also brush DD1's first so that he can see I'm doing the same thing with no ill effects.

I think at the minute he's just experimenting with a bit of teenagerish behaviour because he thinks he has finished growing up. And the teeth thing has become a way of acting out his resistance to me (and his fury about the fact that daddy is a bit absent at the moment).

I'm telling him that he can't just rely on believing he is a good boy: he needs to make as many good choices as he can, and that he has the power to 'choose' to stop this being an issue.

Got to run ..
Love to all.

DS has done more walking today than he's ever done before! it was almost like he's figured that if he's already standing that its easier to get to toy/me/door by walking instead of dropping down to the floor to crawl. every step is still truly amazing though. well, my little explorer is completely flaked out asleep and DP's waiting for his dinner so i'm off to be wifey for a little while

oh oops bless you, just makes me love you lot even more when I hear that my own bloody family couldn't give a heehaw but you lot do - thank you

Miamla lets hope all that walking has worn him out!

Red I have to say that I think you sound like a fantastic mother and you frankly put me to shame. DD1 has never had any bother cleaning her teeth, DD2 on the other hand I would rather feed a pill to a tasmanian devil than clean her teeth and at NO time is there any lovely reasoned chat about making good choices, its more about pinning down and shoving whilst barking orders and pulling out my hair

Sleb Masterchef is on - have I missed some of it?!?

sazz you really ought to do something instead of wasting your days lazing around like you are

Hark at all these cruisey babies! And walkers too!! Oliver seems quite content with his commando crawling. He's now following me everywhere. I just had a thought - I should attach a duster to his belly, that way when he slithers into the kitchen I could take a few steps at a time, and as he follows me he could be polishing the floor! GENIUS!!!!

sambo303 · 11/06/2009 21:04

thanks for pointing me in the direction of the jokes vg, they tickled my funny bone, just what I needed

oops amazing, our babies are standing already

miamla hoping T is worn out with all this activity and sleeps better tonight [fingers crossed emoticon]

lentil ds hates getting his teeth cleaned, it's a real struggle, hope your plan works

ds very upset tonight - I was upstairs about 6 times, just cuddled him and he would fall asleep in my arms with exhaustion, then wake up crying 10 mins later. Not sure what's wrong. Last night was not good but we managed to nap in shifts this afternoon.

TwilightSurfer · 11/06/2009 21:08

dizzy she's wearing me out too as tennis and back to watch soap operas' all i've managed today. sazzles you are a master of movement.
