Wow another free pass Cyteen enjoy your weekend and thanks for brekker.

No manly attention here, but twice in one week unlikely unless for ulterior motive of getting baby in or out . Had a very pleasant evening chatting, watching telly and drinking just the right amount of red wine. DS even repeated his sleep-through and didn't wake until 7.10 , however DD was awake and singing songs about Dora the Explorer at 6.40 . The thing is, she has never seen Dora on telly, she just has some jigsaws, so where did the songs come from?????

Grandma coming in a bit and house is a shed again so better tidy up. Oh, if your wondering what that funny chemically smell is, it's me, sorry. The grey was getting a bit rampant but I'm now a lovely chocolate brown again

dizzydixies · 13/06/2009 10:21

Expectant I'd be more angry re the Jonny Wilkinson comparison but I understand re your frustration

pf Nelsone Tea Tree antiseptic cream is marvellous for all things poxy/shingly - fingers crossed for speedy recoveries all round. We have to keep the kitchen door locked as DD2 has been found letting herself out and wandering off so I know how you feel

sazz very exciting re new man gadget - am sure it will keep DH amused for hours! I had Poppy and the girls over yesterday for amostchaoticbecauseofme lunch so we were chattering away like excited schoolgirls re your visit

No1 welcome home, sorry its early for you but none too soon for us

TS DD1 was once again at her tennis lesson yesterday, was a GLORIOUS day here as well, not so much today unfortunately, and spent the majority of the lesson flitting between collecting the tennis balls and adoring the instructor

busy day yesterday in land of Dix. Playgroup visit in the morning, I now have DD2's place for after holidays but also let myself be badgered onto the committee then to park, via shop, where Poppy and her DDs joined us. Back to ours for lunch and a play, my DD2 appear to adore her DDs a little too much then school run, tennis lesson, park again and gate crashing the neighbours next door al fresco family night which we took our chinese and bottle of wine through to

Dylan awake ridicliously early again this morning so after I fed her and tried to get her to sleep without success I growled, moaned and generally insulted DH until he gave in and got up letting me sleep. Dylan been fed again and back down for her nap so DH has gone back to bed as he's working until 2am

cannot believe the difference in weather between yesterday and today but luckily the girls are knackered after their busy day and seem to be happy with pootling about colouring in, playing with toys etc so far

dizzydixies · 13/06/2009 10:24

how did I miss your posts Cyteen and hots

thank you for lovely brekker Cyteen - enjoy your night and well done on miniHots sleeping through

house permanent shed here so am giving up!

VG forgot to tell you a very good friend of mine reading at both the dundee and Edinburgh book festivals so I think you should come over so I can pretend I'm more high brow than I am by knowing these people

Miamla · 13/06/2009 11:00

Oh, what a night.
Why'd it take so long to sleep last night?
Something's wrong, no sleep's not right.
What a baby, what a night!

dizzydixies · 13/06/2009 13:19

miamla I think its time you had him checked out - just in case. I cannot think of what would be wrong other than typical Aug 08 baby behaviour but a chat with the HV or GP wouldn't go amiss

has turned into a lovely sunny day here now so I think we'll head to the park, DH starting work at 4pm and would be nice to do something before he leave. I got my period today, I think so would explain my vileness this morning

on a nicer note, we're now up to 97 comments on the planning AND the local paper is going to run a story on it on Monday

Miamla · 13/06/2009 14:18

i've tried chatting to HV before and all she said was that i'm too soft, that i need to toughen up and leave him to cry. I told her i couldn't bear to do CCIO with him and she said I would be able to when the time was right. Thanks to your suggestion earlier on in the week (or was it albs?) i've kept a log this week of when/what he's eating, when's he's napping and his night wake ups. So at least i've got facts for them as opposed to coming across as "too soft"
Anyhow, i haven't posted much here last few days because i felt like all i was doing was moaning about DS not sleeping so i'll be quiet now!

Oh, can you believe it albs managed to give me her bug via text! was horribly ill during the week

TwilightSurfer · 13/06/2009 14:25

not a bad night here. reese did wake for food once (maybe twice....dh must have handled it) but quick feed then back to sleep. dh and i woke to both girls playing together (reese in her crib and dd1 outside of the crib). we just pretended not to hear the squealing giggles laughter jibber jabber and snoozed for a bit longer.

the girls are inseperable. i really hope it remains that way for years and years and years.

tennis is going extremely well for dd1. next week is the last scheduled week at the racquet center. rumors are starting that they are considering doing more weeks throughout the summer. if so we will do those too. the coach may not have clinic time available for her until fall. this will devastate her so i may be looking at other facilities soon.

dizzy it will be totally cool if our girls wind up playing tennis against each other one day in the future.

sazzles it is blazing hot here, even in the said. the temp doesn't "look" bad but coupled with the humidity it is deadly.

off now to figure out my topsy-turvy day.

miamla hugs to you and lol at that link you posted!!

tee hee.

off to the park (it's allll the way over the road!)

TwilightSurfer · 13/06/2009 15:36

... said in that last big post from me should be SHADE.

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 13/06/2009 18:36

will i ever learn? I have horrid red sun burnt tops of my arms. Ds got thoroughly sun creamed 3 times, dd once, but moi, nope i forgot!

had a fabulous day - a HUGE fun day in the park run by our church with a few other local churches. amazing!!!

CaptainCaveman · 13/06/2009 18:55

Miamla, I never once left ds1 to cry and I Won't with ds2 either. Our boys (and girls!) are at a stage where separation anxiety is likely to be at its peak, so I don't see how the HV's idea of 'leaving them to cry' will do much for the babies who just want mummy or daddy to cuddle them.
I realise my point of view is not universal - plenty of people swear by leaving them to cry - it's just not for me. The downside is it can be a PITA if you want to get on and do something, but cest la vie (steaky, are you impressed at my French?! ).

They grow up so quick though!

Hope you all enjoyed the weather today? It's been glorious here. dS1 and I had a water fight which involved him being splashed with about 6 droplets of water, and me being soaked

CaptainCaveman · 13/06/2009 18:56

ds2 is currently 'enjoying' having his hair washed - or is someone sticking knives in him? the noise sounds very similar.....

PetitFilou1 · 13/06/2009 20:10

Quiet on here, must be the lovely weather we're having.....

dd is on 9 (yes) doses of medicine a day atm. The shingles got her round the left eye and she is telling everyone that an aphid got in and put it there. I'm just quite impressed that my 3.5 year old knows what an aphid is

cyteen You weren't far off the mark in this house last night as dh is able to go condom free at last

A bientot (that was for steaky)

RedLentil · 13/06/2009 20:21

I can't do the cry it out thing either CC.
Whatever approach you choose Miamla, please don't feel you can't post here.

We have had 3 days of good toothbrushing here with DS trying hard and me coaching him like an interfering midwife in the second stage of labour.

The counting was a great tip Sazzles. He tried introducing some of his stress noises tonight but we've agreed they've got to go for good.

Got to run as DH needs computer.

poppysocks · 13/06/2009 21:24

Just checking in, several G&Ts down (I can do this now I'm not breastfeeding ). Saturday greetings to one and all.

So sorry things are so rough on the sleep front miamla. I have nothing to offer but sympathy, but please have it in buckets. I am in awe of your ability to function. I've been struggling with earlier mornings thanks to the damn sunrise (despite the black-outs )... Dealing with these things is such a personal thing, but by this age, they do have a cry-cry and a whining-cry and I must admit that I don't go immediately to the latter. Sometimes it turns into the former but just as often more sleep, so I reckon it's worth a go .

What a lovely scene of your girls together TS. I too so hope that mine are friends, play mates and confidantes for years and years to come. I went out for dinner with my best girl friends from uni early last year, just after I'd found out that DD2 was a girl. They all wanted to know what I was having and when I said another girl, rather than doing the usual thing of expressing mild disappointment on my behalf that I wouldn't have 'one of each' they all squealed with excitement and we realised that they all (4) of them, were the eldest of two girls and all count their sister as one of their closest friends.

A great day here, despite the apocolyptic weather forecasts. Lovely day out (Cairnie, dizzy ), which we left just as the clouds gathered. Made it home as the mother and father of all thunder storms arrived. Cue totally over-excited/slightly scared DD1. Then rearranged furniture throughout the house (initially to make room for play-pen ). Not necessarily better, but nicely different.

All of this after a FAB day with the lovely dizzy and her lovely DDs 2&3. And, everyone, I can confirm, in real life, that dizzy's status as a FBG is absolute. White chocolate cheesecake..... ....

LoveBuckets · 13/06/2009 21:25

EEEUW, just found source of horrid smell on landing, a mouse had obviously escaped from the cat between some underlay boards leaning against the wall and got wedged. What a horrible way to go, think I'd rather be chased around the bedroom and have my head bitten off.

Hole in ball of foot has healed amazingly well, simply from having to walk on it and by wearing sneakers instead of bare feet I'm hardly limping at all today.

Oh God busy day today, starting at 5am with teething (I hope anyway - grumpy, red-faced, nappy-rashy). Nipped to Ikea to order new sofa (can't do it from home ), it arrived same day so kids have had a whale of a time with giant bits of cardboard. Then decided to make proper English afternoon tea with cake and crustless sandwiches - more timeconsuming than I expected.
Old friend and flatmate came for tea to introduce her FECKING LOADED fiance who was way nicer than I expected, not her usual showoff type at all, a real sweetie. Kurt just adored him, was yapping away at him across the table to keep his attention; blokey seemed really flattered so I didn't mention he does this with every man he sees. LOL they have done exactly as I jokingly instructed her and set the date most convenient for us! So our 10th anniversary next year will be a child-free long weekend in Corfu, woohoo!!! Am now imbibing their gifts - room temp beaujolais (forgot to chill it) and (small) box of Celebrations, all by myself.

PF What a nightmare being stuck in with poorly children, hope you are looking after yourself too. My latest thyroid tests came back normal so am clueless now but will chat to BUPA endocrinologist chappy anyway.

Ann Facial injuries usually look worse than they are, have you seen Mickey Rourke slicing his eyebrow in the wrestler? But who wants to be cleaning up all that blood eh?

Dizzy I will get round to commenting on your planning app soon, I really don't have any objections (as the furthest British Aug Mum).

poppysocks · 13/06/2009 21:30

Forgot to express serious at your DD's shingles pf. I too hadn't realised littleys could catch them. Both DDs managed to dodge chickenpox at easter despite repetitive rubbing with their poxy cousins, so fingers crossed your DS2 escapes this time. Am guessing that shingles is as much as you want to deal with at the mo.

And on the subject of germs, rather late in the day now, but I hope DS is better now cyteen. DD1 had hand, foot and mouth when she was about 19 months. By the time we knew what it was that was making her grumpy and feverish, she was fine. Just a bit annoying that she couldn't then go to nursery (so I had to take annual leave ) for ages. Glad your work were so good about it. Will be thinking of you this week with your return hp.

dizzydixies · 13/06/2009 22:02

glad you had a rain free trip poppy we were out too, only at the park, and were 2 minutes in the door before the thunder/rain started. DH on late shift so a friend came round with her 3 dc and we ordered in pizza - her husband works away from home too so we've started an abandoned wives club there was pizza, ice lollies and late nights all round and I've managed to back a banana/pecan loaf and some apple muffins

just sat on bot for first time today so am going to relax for a moment and then head to bed as Dylan probably going to be up at 5am again

98 comments now - only 2 more to break the hundred

pertelote · 13/06/2009 22:32

Brilliant Dizzy

PF poor little thing - LOL at the aphid though! And congratulations on waving farewell to the dratted rubber...

Well done on the wedding arranging Buckets! Corfu for your anniversary sounds fab.

We've had a lovely day too, a friend's DDs 1st birthday gave the opportunity to catch up with some other friends too. And had a lovely conversation with a woman who has been back at work three months and loves it - which was reassuring as the prevailing mood among my NCTers is very much regret at having to go back at the moment so I was feeling a bit odd about looking forward to it (though I know it will also be a wrench, and I AM nervous about remembering how to do my job, AND I know it's a bit easier for me because DD will be with DH/grandparents rather than in a nursery - but there is still part of my brain that is ready).

poppysocks · 13/06/2009 22:34

Sounds like a lovely (and yum!) day there dizzy. Will keep my fingers crossed for Dylan and the zzzs tomorrow am. We had a revelation that was a 7.50am wake-up this morning. Achieved, I think, by a combo of the daily berry half-ton being taken at lunch rather than tea () plus a blanket being gaffer taped over the top of the black out blind. Roll on 22nd June....!

Miamla · 14/06/2009 05:49

4.45am = awake for day after a night of many wakeups

i came downstairs with him and was planning on snoozing on the floor while he played but my little climbing monkey put a stop to that! It would appear that not only can he get up on the coffee table (by pushing the cd player off the amp slightly to make a step) but once he's there he can stand up on the table and climb onto the sofa

sooo tired and DP out all day today so no hope of a break later

off to catch up

hotterpotter · 14/06/2009 08:26

Miamla I don't know how you keep going. I really hope you and DS are snuggled up now having a lovely nap. As for his climbing skills I am in awe . What a clever boy he is to move stuff to climb on! The cleverest thing my DS can do is open the washing machine door and then he tries to climb in - thankfully he is much too big to actually get in!

Pertelote there is nothing wrong with looking forward to going back to work! I think the difference must be if you actually love your job/have a vocation rather than just being a wage slave in order to pay the bills. I really didn't enjoy my last job, and have no real idea what I will be doing when I go back but am sure it won't be that brilliant . I have got to 40 with no real idea of what I would like to do when I grow up. I always said it didn't really matter what job I ended up doing as long as it wasn't just pushing paper round an office. Whoops...

Sounds like you had a lovely day Poppy and thanks for the thoughts. 3 more days

Buckets yay for a long weekend in Corfu, sounds fab . You won't be posting in AIBU about not being able to take the DC to the wedding then

Red well done to DS on his teeth I can see them shining from here

Thelovelypf your DD sounds like she is being very brave. We have not even had chickenpox yet, to have had that and shingles by 3.5 does seem a bit mean. Glad you have something to take your mind off it anyway

CC wow you have a lovely garden and live by the park, sounds fantastic. No wonder your new house is still clean and tidy - you must be outside all the time

ALBS you daft girl. Sounds like you had a fun day though, and hopefully your sunburn has eased today. I had better remember my cream today...

TS sounds like we'll have your DD at Wimbledon in 10 years Would you get on a plane for that? I'm sure every one of us would come to London to see you

Dizzy ooh will you get your picture in the paper? Sounds like your DD1 will have to pull her finger out if she is going to beat TS' DD1 in the singles final

Hoping for another lovely day here, although we are looking after MIL's dog again while she does a craft fair so will have to be on the lookout for dog weeing on the new grass. There are already 4 dead patches from the last time she was here

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/06/2009 08:27

morning everyone.
Weetabix, strawberries, lychees, natural yoghurt and honey this morning.
Me and ds up since 6, dd still snoring in my bed

Had a nice day yesterday, dh bro, wife and kids came up and we sat and ate outside.
Dh then spoilt it by going to the shop for a bottle of wine for me at 7,(while I put kids to bed) he didnt come back while 10.30
he was so obviously drunk and obviously no wine for me.
I knew he wouldnt be able to walk past the pub. selfish prick.
anyhow rant over.
pf I hope your dd is ok I also didnt know little ones could get shingles, but have seen how horrific it can be for an adult. Poor little thing, that is such a lot of meds for a child though. Hope she is feeling better, I had to laugh at aphid also. clever girl.

pertelote I too want to go back to work, even if its only for a day!!! stepmum offered to have them on her day off. She must be mad, but I am looking in to it, if only for my sanity. lol
miamla I do not know how you are coping with the severe lack of sleep. My heart goes out to you, sadly I have no advice to offer, as I often have to let ds cry it out, by that I mean like whinge/cry not sob/cry. iykwim.
lovebuckets eewww poor mouse. Corfu sounds wonderful and child free too wow. I am not the least bit ......................much....
cyteen hope you had a fab night.
redlentil good to hear the tooth brushing is getting a little better, dd likes to do her teeth, but sometimes refuses to let me do it for her, so I say 'tickle your teeth like the tombliboos do' and pretend to tickle with the brush.
hotter and cc we will have to sort out this meetup wont we
dizzy can i join your abandoned wives club pleeeeaes. sounds great. in fact I dont care if my dh doesnt find me
Hi to everyone I have missed, will try to catch up some more.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/06/2009 08:31

Can I just add, no need to feel sorry for me that the holiday ended early. It was me who wanted to come home, and dh too
