sometimes it would be nice if it was me that got to choose the TV, drink the beer and have the first bath, while someone else battles with the kids and makes them sleep

pointless waste of time going to the hospital, still waiting to see if something grows in one of the samples. Hopefully not because if it does then DH has to have his entired cartilidge scraped away and replaced with fake stuff, or the entire rest of his shoulder joint replaced. If it's not that then there are more tests to be done. I think we were both hoping for "nothing more can be done" and a referral to pain clinic to get some closure.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 23/06/2009 22:13

I did that with dd at about the same age jammy, just bedtime and morning and then she cut them out herself. Good luck with the pants. Ds still hasn't got the hang of pants yet. He is fine with a bare bottom, he goes on the toilet, but put pants on him and he just wees in them.

He cried for 2 hours the other night when I tried to not bf him to sleep. I got dp to take him up and he did his Damien screaming foaming at the mouth thing. I took over and he carried on with the episode. In the end I gave up and took him downstairs!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 23/06/2009 22:15

hope you finally get some answers about dh's shoulder. It must be so frustrating.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/06/2009 22:16

Right, I am going to bed. Am exhausted but not sure why.

Sputnik · 23/06/2009 22:27

Sorry this thing is still dragging on Ria

Good luck Jammy!

I am luck DS is pretty easy going all round, I couldn't face another like DD!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/06/2009 10:43

Yay! 2nd poo and wee in the potty just now, and dry in between But I musn't be too smug because it can all go badly wrong yet I'm sure!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/06/2009 11:52

go jamlet

I think I might try an intensive potty training regime; see if we can get it over with in a week.

Think what you will of Cod, but she used to do a potty training bootcamp that seemed to get results. I might look out some old threads.

If we're not there in a week, we're going back to nappies for a while!

I am trying to do it "boot camp" style, but am wondering about putting a nappy on for afternoon nap? I don't think it's the done thing if you're doing boot camp, but I can't face a soaking wet matress.

LittleMissNorty · 24/06/2009 12:10

If you find any Daisy, can you link please please.

Hope it goes well Jammy

Sputnik · 24/06/2009 12:11

Well done Jamlet!
Can you put her on a waterproof sheet or something? Or rig up a bin bag with towels on top?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/06/2009 12:12

Thanks Norty

There's always this

LittleMissNorty · 24/06/2009 12:16

DDs new bed has a waterproof side on the mattress....for the very old or very young the description said

God, I shouldn't even be here, I've got shitloads to do and have managed one load of washing so far....gah!

LittleMissNorty · 24/06/2009 12:16

bollocks. how did that happen?

Sputnik · 24/06/2009 12:28

I remember reading those threads, she advocated taking them to potty/toilet every 1/2 hour, no pull-ups, bribery rewards for sucessful potty use.
erm, think that's it.
Fun pants are good too.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/06/2009 12:41

Well we just left the nappy off this morning and I suggested to Jamlet every half hour or so did she want the potty. Every time she said no (well she shook her head) so I reminded her to let me know if she did want to wee or poo. I was getting worried though that she wouldn't, but she was dry so that was OK and then eventually I suggested it and she went and sat on it and success! So my plan is to keep this up and hope that in time (and hopefully not too long!) she starts using it unprompted. I have put a nappy on for her nap though, but want to get a waterproof cover for the matress and then will do without. She's getting lots of praise of course and will probably get a bribe reward after tea tonight. So fingers crossed!

OK, tidying up to do now she's napping. My Dad is coming to visit tomorrow and I want to be presentable for him.

LackaDAISYcal · 24/06/2009 15:49

I had a search for boot camp threads eralier, but all cod's messages have been withdrawn after her privacy invasion stuff last year.

But, found this copied by another poster:

  1. do nto plan to go anwywhere for a couple of days.

2 do nto put a nappy on ever agin

3 do not ASK your kid if they need to go fgs they ODNT KNOW hence they are potty training

  1. tkae kid every 30/30 mins or so
  1. bribe them wiht sweets
  1. tyr not to use apotty as they are a pita but if oyu haev to do
  1. if they wee on you firmly say " here do we go to the loo?"
  1. make it a game
race them to the loo take them with you coutn how long they can wee fo ring up hapless freinds or relatives to tellt ehm algie did a wee ont he loo( oyu may have to warn folk!!)

REINFORCE ALL THE TIME how GOOD THYE ARER whent hey get it rihgt

I love the bit about ring hapless friends....great idea...my DD gets a sticker every time she does something on the potty.....big one if its a poo.

I'm going to leave it for a bit, going to be weaning in a few weeks, can't cope with that and potty training. Shall put this thread on watch so I can come back to it.

What happened with Cod then? Is she not here under a namechange?

HellHathNoFury · 24/06/2009 16:26

I think we are a long way from potty training yet.

But I don't care really.

Sputnik · 24/06/2009 16:59

Snap!
It seemed a big deal with my pfb but this time round I'm going to be leaving it til it's least effort possible.

Rialentless · 24/06/2009 18:24

I am not potting training until it is almost socially unacceptable to not do it

sports day today. DS2 got all of his throws into the basketball hoop sadly he fell flat onhis face in the running race, because he probably would have won, but he got up and kept running

what a waste of an afternoon though

am having crap day and am not fit to be allowed out in public.

HellHathNoFury · 24/06/2009 18:50

I am just not that bothered by changing nappies, really. I'd much rather change a nappy than lug myself and huge PG belly at speed into a toilet

Let's face it, he'll get there eventually

So tired. Don't want to go into work tomorrow. Need sleep and chocolate.

Oh BTW can recommend Waitrose cakes for those planning birthdays and are not industrious and culinary-minded. Or just too lazy busy.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/06/2009 21:20

Sorry, I wasn't trying to suggest that anyone else should be trying potty training .

Well, it was a mixed day. The morning went well potty-wise, and she even said "ta" (rather than just signing it) when I gave her a banana! But this afternoon she had 2 wee accidents and no sucessful potty use But the worst bit was that she was so disobedient all afternoon, and I got wound up. I wasn't at all cross about the accidents, or that when she did sit nothing happened, but the blatent disregard for everything I said to her, and the fussiness at teatime, and the hitting me round the head with a trowel dif get to me. Ah well, try again tomorrow...

Rialentless · 24/06/2009 21:37

didn't think that for a second Jammy, the HV suggested it yesterday, so I am a bit quick to defend myself! It's just not high-up on my list of priorities.

Sputnik · 24/06/2009 22:05

No, me neither Jammy. If DS showed the least sign of being ready I might give it a go!
