Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bunnyrabbit · 08/06/2009 09:38

MHH, poor spootty bubba but saying Dider is so cute. Have you tried twinkle twinkle and wind the bobbin up yet? I find they get a great response and lots of frantic hand movements (incluing a pretty respectable diamond!) what are you looking for job wise? I'm in London too.

Suze, I am not laughing.. much

KITN, definitely 1st class if you can afford it.

Peachy, did the DR diagnose? Rotary outing sounds cool. Fingers crossed for a dry day on Wednesday.

Update on my lazy tyke chunky monkey - can now at last roll front to back and back to front and sat himself up yesterday. At last. Now if I can only convince him to get off of his backside!!

SuperSoph73 · 08/06/2009 11:55

Morning all.

How's your weather? I can't believe that you ladies actually had to don jumpers and socks again ... madness. Won't tell you what the weather's like here. Although I'm sure Denny remembers with fondness

Peachy - pleased Bas is better

MHaH - am really at that amount. We forget sometimes how lucky we are here. Will have to wait and see how long it takes them to send us anything ... could be waiting a while as the Canarians aren't renowned for their speed!!

Sam's getting a new "body-board" thingy from the OT as he's too big for the other one. He needs one with little legs on casters now so he can push himself around with his hands .. that should be fun

EllieG · 08/06/2009 12:38

Hey all - I am SO tired after DH went away wed and not back til tonight. Has made me think about how brilliant and unflappable single parents must have to be, I think I might even appreciate the bits DH does a bit more now....

peachy, glad yours are better

catch up later x

SuperSoph73 · 08/06/2009 13:34

Ellie. My DH goes away about twice a year and a friend stays with me to help out. She's leaving the island at the end of July so won't be around to help any more Am really not looking forward to looking after 2 while he's away. However, I am looking forward to having the bed to myself

Saying that I used to take DS1 to England for a week every year and managed then so I'm sure I'll be fine Would definitely not want to be a single parent.

TheShipsCat · 08/06/2009 16:14

Hi girls. ] about your weather, Soph.

VS - can I ask a nursery question? Sorry, you must be getting sick of this but I don't know quite what to do. DD1 loves nursery. She never says she doesn't want to go - apart from last week, she called for me in the night and said she didn't want to go next day. When I asked why, she said she didn't like one of the staff - her key worker in fact. But she couldn't tell me why. She said she hadn't been in trouble or been told off by her, that she doesn't know why she doesn't like her, just that she 'speaks funnily' .
Anyway, she's mentioned it a few times now, and this morning really didn't want me to leave. I don't know whether to say anything to the staff - I don't want to hurt the keyworker's feelings - she is nice, but it is becoming a problem. What to do??
Any advice - actually, from anyone?

SuperSoph73 · 08/06/2009 16:32

Hi TSC. Sorry to hear about your DD. I would go and have a general chat with the people at the nursery and find out their point of view. It's what I'd do anyway, although I'm sure there'll be better advice from the others Hope it all gets sorted soon as there's nothing worse when little ones have a problem but can't really express it.

LadyBee · 08/06/2009 22:43

Hi all,
I'm amazed at the amount your DD is saying MHAH, that's so cool .
Oh I read through all the posts but am so sleepy I can't compose a decent message. Good to hear Bas is feeling better Peachy. TSC I also think it's worth trying to have a chat about it with the nursery workers, see if they can shed any light on it.

Things are good here in the Bee-hive, am off on a wedding frock hunt next week, which is exciting (and daunting, and probably depressing). Work is busy, busy but thank goodness no pressure to stay after hours, just doing quite a bit at home in the evenings.
Oh and have started the pill..woohoo! this means I have 5 packs to take and then we're back ttc-ing.

TheShipsCat · 09/06/2009 16:28

I know there's no one here, but I need to rant. Sorry!

DH has just completely stitched me up and lost me a day's pay. He's an editor, I'm freelance. He asked me to go to cover a story this morning, which I did. Drove over, got the interview, wrote it up. Then the person I spoke to got cold feet and said she had no authorisation to talk to me. So she'd arrange an interview with someone who could. Then found out that DH had got someone else to do it. (Who, by the way, lives in Asia and its a European story. ) So I have completely wasted a day I could have spent actually making some money.

SuzeMcG · 09/06/2009 18:06

Hey TSC. That is annoying! How was your DD at nursery today?

TheShipsCat · 09/06/2009 20:11

Hi Suze - how are you?
DD1 fine at nursery today as the key worker has gone on holiday. Phew. I still don't know how to tackle it without offending her though.
And by the time DH got home my anger had mostly abated. I've just put it down to experience.

LadyBee · 09/06/2009 21:05

Maybe you could talk to her supervisor while she's away and ask the supervisor for her advice on how to handle it.
So do you often get work from your DH? That must be strange. (And annoying when it goes wrong like that.)
I've got work to do tonight, very boring but got to be done. Thank goodness it's my day off tomorrow. I'm v tired. Obviously I've started obsessing about ttc, I had a very odd dream last night where I was in some sort of hospital corridor where lots of women were going into labour and I was waiting for my 'turn'. Finally I was up, baby decided to be born before I was moved into the room and the midwife dropped it. . Dreams are odd. This one was very vivid visually but not emotionally for some reason. Hey ho.

EllieG · 10/06/2009 08:53

How are things today TSC? Not on brink of divorce?

Re nursery thing - I would have quiet word with supervisor while keyworker is away if I were you. Then might be able to be sorted in a low-key manner.

TheShipsCat · 10/06/2009 09:46

Good idea girls, thanks. I will do.

Weird dream, LadyBee. Even weirder you want to ttc .

Where is Scorpio - is she OK, do you think?

Not quite on brink of divorce, but things are a little iffy at home! He gives me quite a bit of work, so I can't really complain, but if another editor had done the same thing, I wouldn't work for them again until I'd run out of money.

Anyone else totally pissed off about this weather?

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 10:26

TSC, must be very awkward re your DH. Perhaps you could ask him what he wants for dinner, cook something completely different and then give it to someone else? Do you think he'd get the message!

As for nursery, I would definitely have a quiet word with the head of the room, but keep it positive until you have a better idea what's going on.

As far as the weather goes, I'm in a show a the mo and it's damn hot on stage with wig, hat, costume and lights. Quiet happy to put up with cool for the mo!!!

Ladybee,
LOL re waiting your turn. If only it were that quick and simple.

Scorps · 10/06/2009 11:14

SuperSoph73 · 10/06/2009 11:59

Scorps - great to hear from you & great to hear that everything is progressing well. Hope everything else is OK. We missed you girlie Please don't go forever and keep us uptodate.

TSC - Love bunnyrabbit's idea, that's definitely one to try

Ladybee - weird My weird dreams only started once I'd fallen pregnant ... how strange!

SuperSoph73 · 10/06/2009 12:03

BR - what show is it?

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 12:41

Pirates of Penzance. Great show to be in. Very funny lib and nice and short!!

Knackered though. It's the first time I've been in a show and worked all week.

Oh yes and AF today which is so very convenient and rather worrying with white bloomers!!

Scorps how are you? Glad to hear your OK and many congrats on pending no. 4. mmm spa

BR

SuperSoph73 · 10/06/2009 13:46

BR - I was in a performance of Pirates of Penzance once, can't for the life of me remember what drama company it was though - maybe my mum would know!! Memory like a sieve these days. No wonder you're knackered, working & performing, well done you

EllieG · 10/06/2009 14:17

Hey scorps

Scorps · 10/06/2009 14:54

LOL @ you all being Pirates of my town

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 15:35

Lol that is rather amusing isn't it. I hope it makes you feel special .

Luckily only two people are attempting cornish accents and they sound suitable piratey.

Sorry none of you can come, but we're sold out for all 6 performances. Anyway, I think Esssex is a bit of a trek for an amateur operatic production!!

Har har me hearties.

BR

Scorps · 10/06/2009 15:50

I don't sound Cornish though, but have friends that realllllly do and i do use some of the local dialect, like teasy and dreckly.

Teasy = moody, ratty

I'll do it dreckly = I'll do it in a bit when i can be bothered

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 16:01

LOL Scorps. My DH's cousins live in Devon and one of them is married to a Cornishman He says dreckly all the time in that lovely slow draawwwllll. Always makes me giggle.

I wondered how you spelt it!!
