Newlyn pier says DH. Lots of bait shops around, plus Newlyn pier 5 mins from me

MistergodthisisSal · 10/09/2009 19:00

How odd, I typed message above this morning on my phone! Sorry, don't mean to be so rude, hi VeeS and Scorps. Hmmm, however, you two planning nice meetups...

VeeEsss · 10/09/2009 20:17

We've contacted this place to see if they have any space on a trip on saturday, that near you?

bunnyrabbit · 11/09/2009 09:33

Peach, if you're around could do with your advice on this thread

BR

Scorps · 12/09/2009 12:58

Hello

Well, the deputy head at school, Reilly's new teacher, has allowed him to wear a polo shirt instead of formal shirt, as its so much easier (he can do one or maybe 2 buttons but not like 7). Saved SO much hassle.

Gorgeous weather here, though i have been so busy im crashing out on the sofa this afternoon. One xbox game keeping Jamie happy, R at his Dads and Mimi asleep, DH at work.

BethNoire · 13/09/2009 14:02

BR will pop over (just don't all out me elsewhere- I feel safer on here LOL)

MistergodthisisSal · 13/09/2009 14:09

How is everyone today?

Here not much to report, having a lazy weekend. I'm currently attempting my first ever Yorkshire Pudding... I think we're going to eat at 3, lol, but so far it smells good - roast beef, proper roast potatoes (i did the precooking and everything - a little impressed with myself, what a saddo!), veg, yorkshire puds. Am embracing my soon to be full-time-mom-ness. (Hope no-one's offended by the "title" - I get so confused with all the pc-names that I've just given up trying, lol.)

Good grief, sorry for all the brackets up there... Off to burn down the kitchen, speak soon.

Scorps · 13/09/2009 18:03

Sal - i heart being a lazy SAHM

I met Vee Ess today, we went for a nice walk to a park, chatted and chilled. Was lovely to meet you, you have been an inspiration to me re BF and you are exactly as i thought you were . Your boys are gorgeous and I will get those cheeks (and crumbs!!) off Panda

We had a BBQ this afternnon, kids piled in paddling pool and mimi kept holding her breath cos it was so cold

MistergodthisisSal · 13/09/2009 19:21

How lovely, Scorps. Sounds like you had a fantastic day! Lol at Mimi!

I made my first ever Yorkshire puds, and they were great, even if I have to say so myself! (Mind you, not that it's difficult or anything, but I've never had the guts to try before.)

Dh away for half the week from tomorrow for work. I completely forgot about it until he mentioned packing earlier, and now I'm a little sad. How silly!

bunnyrabbit · 14/09/2009 08:58

Aww Sal.. stay on here and we'll keep you company! Well dones with the roast. I love doing roast, it's my boys favourite, but I must admit I usually do chicken so very rarely do Yorkies. You are a brave woman, playing with all that hot fat. I love the smell of roast in my kitchen on a Sunday afternoon

Beth (smile) thank you for the input. I have protected your identity and feigned indifference but it's graet to hear that we are not over reacting and you feel the same way.

Scorps/VS it's so nice to hear that you met up but it does make me that you got to hug each others babies and I missed out!!

Only 2 days till D-Day!!

BR

EllieG · 14/09/2009 09:14

Oooo have just worked out who bethnoire is! Hey you!!!

Hope all are well. I feel sick this morning. I hate work, I feel so anxious all the time the moment I get in the office. Either that or is the end of my hangover from wedding I went to on sat

Well done for the yorkshires sal, I still haven't made any ever, which is a bit bad isn't it?

bunnyrabbit · 14/09/2009 09:37

LOL Ellie. Shall we turn this into a confessional thread?

"I Bunny Rabbit used frozen Auntie Bessies yorkshires the last time I made roast beef!!"

As far as work goes, I must admit I do find everything more strassfull if I haven't had much sleep or have over indulged. Try not to let it get to you. Have something nice for lunch and go out and get some fresh air if you can. Having a stroll around might make you feel a bit more human. Hope you feel better this afternoon.

BR

Scorps · 14/09/2009 10:38

Yorkshires aren't hard to make you funny people I make toad in the hole etc quite a bit, yummy. We don't have roast beef much, more lamb or chicken.

ds2 wasa bit funny at going to school today, said he didnt want to go because 'school makes me tired'. It's his first tennis lesson after school today too so that must be a bit scary for him.

Having a quiet day at home today, not much to do = nice.

VeeEsss · 14/09/2009 10:44

I find yorkshires easy to make too

The trick is lots of eggs. So 4 eggs, 4oz s-r flour and half a pint of milk. Throw it into a bowl, whizz it up and put it in HOT fat in a HOT oven for about 20 minutes.

You were FABBO Scorps Only took us 4.5 hours to get home, bit of a change from the 8 hours to get there...

Scorps · 14/09/2009 10:47

I did wonder how long it took you this time, lol. It's freezing here today so you deffo left the best day.

MistergodthisisSal · 14/09/2009 13:44

Thanks BR.

Oh Ellie, sucks when you feel like that. I bet BR's right though - feeling down to start off with doesn't really help if you're feeling a bit off about work anyway. Hoping it'll either quickly get better or that damn funding come through.

Scorps, hope ds loves tennis and that it gets easier next week. It's often just the fear of something new that puts you off, isn't it?

Oh, and Scorps and VeeEss, you show-offs re yorkshires! Am very jealous of your meetup, sounds great!

In all seriousness though - I think it's just the thought of all that hot, sizzling fat combined with my general clumsiness that scared me too much. In retrospect, as long as I you try not to trip over anything whilst handling it, it's actually quite easy. My new party trick, hehe.

I have to prepare my nanny's cv now, as if I leave this to her she'll never get a job! I feel like her (very frustrated) mother...

EllieG · 14/09/2009 14:30

When do you finish sal? I am so

Oo I forgot, I need some advice ladies - Molly has started hitting people, including, (oh the shame) kids and staff at nursery. I try and do a cross face and go 'NO. We don't hit' and then put her down, but the little bugger darling has been known to laugh and try and hit me again. Am I raising a thug? It tends to be when she is very excited and I was thinking it was just a phase that would pass, but then one of my (childless) colleagues said that it was a Bad Thing that I had to concentrate on or would be terrible and I would never have control of her yada yada yada and now am worried. She is going through a very stroppy phase, everything is a bit frustrating and I thought it was part of this and she might grow out of as she got more verbal. What do you lot think?

Scorps · 14/09/2009 14:45

I would say in a very firm lower tone voice 'No we don't hit'. Then put her down. If she did it again, repeat 'No we don't hit' and remove yourself. It's not going to work straight away but will work. It's not anything you have done, some children go through this, others don't.

Scorps · 14/09/2009 14:46

And you will have 'control' of her if you start on the small things first; exactly what you are doing!! Silly people.

bunnyrabbit · 14/09/2009 15:35

Agree with Scorps. I also try holding one or both hands of DS2's hands in my hands in front of him so it brings their focus to you/their hand.

It's a phase they all go through, along with throwing, biting, tantrems.. etc etc...

BR

SuperSoph73 · 14/09/2009 16:17

Afternoon all. All that talk of Yorkshire puds has made my tummy rumble DH makes great yorkshires. Had a very quiet weekend this weekend, went and had scrummy lunch and then went and played crazy golf - one of DS1's favourite things to do.

Scorps - regarding your DH, it must be so difficult to sort out, especially when you're pregnant as well. I'm sorry I don't have any helpful advice, just want you to know that I'm thinking of you and hope that you'll resolve it one way or the other.

Denny - hi there Weather is still sweltering at the moment. Will be pleased when it cools down a bit and then can have a good moan about how cold it is LOL

Nothing really to report here. Clubs have started so am here till 4.50pm Mon to Thurs - boo!!! We must be needing a new thread soon musn't we? Will try and do one in the morning if no-one's done one before me!
