Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SuperSoph73 · 04/06/2009 12:33

LOL LOL LOL LOL Suze - no, not in this country. Money only starts from when you hand the form in - that's why I'm peed off with myself for not looking into it sooner

bunnyrabbit · 04/06/2009 12:37

What a pain. Don't fret it though. Worse things happen at sea

Very though. Shame we can't get anything like that here.. Not that it would cover more than two days of nursery anyway.

BR

SuperSoph73 · 04/06/2009 13:21

BR - don't you get anything to help with nursery/childcare if you go back to full-time work? I wouldn't get anything if I was only part-time though. The worrying thing is that because my contract has been cut by 9 hours a week they may decide that I'm not entitled to it anyway! I have to say as well though that this is the only monetary help we get here. Still can't believe how unbelievably expensive nurseries are in England

However, like you said worse things do happen

bunnyrabbit · 04/06/2009 13:48

I'm afraid we get diddly squat. Oh no hold on, we can sacrifice a small percentage of our salaries and have it paid in Childcare vouchers if we choose which means it's free off tax. Oh whoop dee do.

If we earnt less we could claim some tax credits I think.

Crap really.

BR

EllieG · 04/06/2009 13:54

Hey all!
Good news about getting money sorted soph though is a PITA about not being backdated

Poor itchy Bas, hope he's better soon x

I am having a better day at work today - yesterday I accidentally cost the dept £300 and then a client said I had done something wrong (I haven't she's just cross cos her benefits were stopped cos I told them she didn't have her child living with her, which she doesn't) and is going to complain. Well let 'em I say, I ain't scared. Well not much anyway.

SuperSoph73 · 04/06/2009 14:04

BR - complete bummer.

Ellie - I'm sure your work will realise that she's only doing it cos she's angry. How did you cost them 300 quid (if you're allowed to tell)?

bunnyrabbit · 04/06/2009 14:07

Ellie, anyone who wants to complain knowing that by complaining she is admiting to trying to commit fraud, is really too dumb to worry about!

SuzeMcG · 04/06/2009 16:37

Ellie, what a horrible woman. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest her armpits.

I was at a friend's house for lunch. The leg fell off the chair I was sitting on and I ended up on the floor in a heap! Emilia was very surprised to suddenly see me down at her level.

SuperSoph73 · 04/06/2009 16:41

Oh poor you Suze, you didn't hurt yourself did you? .... Sorry that's very juvenile of me but did make me This has happened to my step-dad twice which has caused lots of hilarity and fortunately he's never hurt himself.

SuzeMcG · 04/06/2009 17:29

Nope, I didn't hurt myself but I was glad that I didn't land on Emilia!

SuzeMcG · 05/06/2009 09:09

Actually my knee is sore, I whacked it hard when I fell. I'll live though!

Where's the sun?

EllieG · 05/06/2009 09:48

We've got some sun here!

I cost them £300 because I needed to get 4 doors fixed for a client with no money. So I says to a carpenter, please give me a quote for said 4 doors. He says £100, whoop whoop, says I and my manager, go ahead. He does work and sends me a bill for £400 cos apparently he meant £100 per door not £100 in total. Oops.

SuperSoph73 · 05/06/2009 11:21

Morning. Sun here too, I'll send you some.

Suze - hope your knee feels better soon.

Ellie - oops

SuzeMcG · 05/06/2009 11:44

Thanks SuperSoph.

Denny185 · 05/06/2009 19:02

I have a jumper on today

KnitterInTheNW · 05/06/2009 20:01

lol Denny! I've just found a pair of thick socks to put on. Will be jumper hunting myself very soon!

It didn't rain here all day, until 10 to 3 which was exactly when we were leaving the house to go swimming. Pool is 10 min walk away, so had got the buggy out of the car and loaded it up... was damn well still going to walk!

KnitterInTheNW · 05/06/2009 22:27

Help me decide please, ladies... Train tickets for Aug meetup are available. The train I was planning on going to London on, is fine. Coming back, can either get one that leaves London at 17:30 and gets into Warrington at 19:14 - that one's £42 for both journeys and first class on the way home. (Bigger seat, tired toddler, good thing?) or a later one that doesn't leave London til 19:19 and gets into Warrington at 21:20. That one's only £19 for both journeys.

Money's being a bit tight, but I'm doing some work for sitters so helping a bit. Come on, tell me which one to book please!

OP posts:
madameovary · 06/06/2009 08:50

Knitter I would DEFO book first class if I could afford it. Comfort all the way when lng journeys and DCs are involved!

madameovary · 06/06/2009 09:00

Sorry that should be LONG journeys!
Peachy, lol at 'wach wack' and LadyBee's "uck uck uck" Hope Bas feels better soon, wee soul! .

Ellis now says "hiya" several times very clearly when she wants to be picked up, always while standing holding onto my trouser legs!

Gave her a plate of cut up fish fingers and asparagus last night, she ate them very delicately, and then began to deposit bits in my hand - very cute. Other times she will mash up food and inspect then drop on floor. It depends really!

Ellie, inore the silly woman, you are in the right and she was telling porkies!

MommyHasaHeadache · 06/06/2009 10:49

Hi all - just been catching up with that's been going on! We have a baby with chicken pox too Peachy! Not much fun is it? Especially as she is teething and seems to have developed a cold too. Poor baby She caught it from nursery school where she is going full time now. 3/4 of the babies have caught it. Peachy, how is Bas doing? Hope he feels better soon.

Have to say it is much better for her going full time as opposed to a few days a week - she has really settled now and there is no more crying on arrival - she just puts her arms out for her key worker and off she goes. She has a little friend called Robert, and they play together every day. So Suze, whilst it might be hard at first, it does get easier and better.

SuperSoph - hope you get your money soon. What a pity it can't be backdated. I wish we got help too. It costs us £1039 every month - sooooooo expensive (and more than our mortgage!) But nowhere near as expensive as VS's nursery - you must have the mega wealthy sending their kids there VS!

She is saying a few things now - kitty cat, Dider (one of our cats is called Spider), bye bye bye and waves, ta and hands you something or takes something, h i j when I sing her the alphabet and of course Dada and Mama. She also says Lanna when she see photos of my Godchild Alannah.

Still not walking on her own yet, but is a whizz at walking with the push along and loves climbing the stairs by herself!

I'm busy looking for a job at the mo, been on a few interviews but nothing has come of them. It's really tough when you can only work certain times (9-5). Everywhere wants you working from 8-6! So ladies, keep your fingers crossed that I get something soon!

Knitter, I would def go for the 1st class option on the way home. Think it will be nice to be comfy after a long day out - for both of you! Looking forward to meeting you and the gorgeous George!

SuzeMcG · 06/06/2009 13:27

Hi, MHaH, glad your DD enjoys nursery. I think E will settle in well as she will be going full time. I keep dreaming about it, that I forget to pick her up, etc!

Good luck with the interviews. What do you do? I will keep an eye on the job database for you when I start. I think you are in London too?

I had to call my manager and say that I could only work 9-5 but would work from home at night if necessary.

SuzeMcG · 06/06/2009 13:28

Oh, and Knitter, defo go for first class!

Denny185 · 06/06/2009 15:14

However likely to be less people on the later train and you could probably get 2 seats and G would prob sleep as nearer to bed time?

I put the heating on for a couple of hours this am, cant believe how cold its gone.

Hope babies with chicken pox r feeling better.

KnitterInTheNW · 06/06/2009 22:53

Have booked the first class one

G will NOT sleep on the train (very rarely nods off in the car, even on long journeys) so I think setting off ealier and getting into Warrington just a bit after normal bedtime will be better.

I'm soooooooo excited!

Peachy · 07/06/2009 19:24

Hi all

bas is OK, spots fading so don't know for 100% certain if it really was CP, if he did already get immunity from past exposure a few months back, or if it was a misdiagnosis- he's got amouth infection (where a molar is coming through) so might have been a bacterial thing instead?

He seems OK today though- currently in highchair with dh eating mango and wearing finished a curry LOL, cold turkey ahs managed to get him off the pureed stuff a treat.

Which is a bit poor at this time but he had a bad night alst night so we all got up late. DS2 is off crutches now, as well (hurrah- he's the King of self pity) and so they can all go back to school tomorrow.

Praying for a clear day Wednesday as the Rotary are taking every kid in the area in a SNU to barry Island, really want them all (must be at least 100) to have a lovely day, ds3 is excited as anything
