Oh, Ellie, and yes, of course - most def keeping your weekend open for the meetup!

We're flying to Lima on the 20th of June, coming back on the 3rd of July. It's going to be hell getting there: Iberia (so utter shite) London to Madrid, 2 hours stopover, then Madrid - Lima, 2 hours stopover, then Lima - Cusco. Met by taxi for the 1 - 1.5hr drive to Ollantaytambo. Am exhausted just thinking of it, never mind coping with R! Think dh and I will take turns to (try and) sleep. Once there it'll be brilliant though (I hope and pray!) [completely insane emoticon]

madameovary · 26/05/2009 09:04

Hi, Ellie, Soph and VS

Sal, I too love baking my own bread, have just had toast and peanut butter for breakfast yum yum.

Ellis is off to nursery this morning - not a whimper, she is so sociable bless her! I'm not upset that she seems "happy" to leave me, would be far worse if she was screaming her head off.

So now I dont know what to do with myself. I have a tip of a house to tidy and dont know where to begin.

Maybe with a walk outside as its looking like a lovely day

First time on the swings yesterday - she LOVED it, giggling her head off all the time.

Soph73 · 26/05/2009 12:24

Afternoon all. Presented Sam's certificate to social security this morning. We have to wait until January before we get any money and it's nowhere near as much as we were lead to believe. We can get 1000 euros a year, paid twice a month (Jan and July). However, it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, as my Dad says

Sal - you're barmy you I'm only jealous as it sounds like a great trip.

madameovary - it's great when they enjoy nursery isn't it. Really puts your mind at ease. Sam is being looked after by a friend on Fri as it's Dia de Canarias and the piggin' nursery shuts at 2pm and we don't finish work until 3.35pm. The sad thing is I could have dressed Sam in a canarian costume but there's no point really now

Ellie - oh you poor sausage ... not literally obviously, I'm sure you don't look anything like a sausage

I've got my small trousers on today (size 14, but small for me) ... am feeling very smug

Soph73 · 26/05/2009 12:25

Twice a year I meant to say!

Soph73 · 26/05/2009 15:23

Ahem .... excuse me .... where have you all gone? First you want to speak to me and now you don't Am very put out

Anyone heard from Scorpio?

KnitterInTheNW · 26/05/2009 15:58

Hi Soph!

I've had Charlie today, so no chance to get online! He's just been picked up by his dad, and G is having a rest in his cot. I'm a tad pooped now!

OP posts:
Soph73 · 26/05/2009 16:12

Hi Knitter - sounds like you need a rest I just still can't believe we've got another 5 1/2 weeks until the end of term ... we don't get a half term break during this term so it seems like an eternity for us. However, shouldn't complain as we get 9 weeks hols

Soph73 · 26/05/2009 16:36

OK I'm going now .... still miffed that only Knitter bothered to speak to me

SalLikesCoffee · 26/05/2009 20:32

Hello for tomorrow, Soph! Told you you should have talked to me ALL DAY yesterday!

Knitter, will this now be regular? They're lucky to have you, you sound like such a great nanny! Can imagine you must be shattered now though, I don't think I'd survive a full day of their age, I'm too much of a whimp!

Rough day with loads of meetings taking up all my time today, but I've decided I really really really like my boss. (Not as in fancy, mind you!) I think this might be my favourite job ever.

KnitterInTheNW · 26/05/2009 21:56

I've been having Charlie one day a week for a while now, but today was the last day. His mum is one of the ones I met through our NCT classes. I now have officially no work again. No calls as a result of my flyer, I need to spread them a bit wider I think.

So glad to hear that you love your job Sal, it makes all the difference doesn't it?

OP posts:
SalLikesCoffee · 26/05/2009 22:04

Hope you find something soon. Your fliers were really good, so yes, possibly spread a bit. Hmm, trying to think where... Is there a coffee shop nearby that moms go to often? I'm trying to think where I'd pick something like that up, but since I have no life lately, the only places I really go is the train station and coffee shop!

Work - yes, most definitely. He's also a very decent guy, clearly loving his family etc, so I feel he understands what's important to me too - so for example fine if I want to take half day off to do stuff with Roelof, or like next week on dh's birthday.

SalLikesCoffee · 26/05/2009 23:14

Well, since no-one wants to talk to me, I'm going to bed now. I'll be rested, no baggy eyes, and then boys will try to chat me up... Have that on your conscience!

Night, all.

LadyBee · 26/05/2009 23:22

is she back?

LadyBee · 26/05/2009 23:38

ah poo, I've missed everyone again. And Scorpio's still AWOL. Scorpio if you're lurking, come back and I hope things are ok between you & DH.
Ellie, so you've been continuing to run? That's fantastic you've obviously got much better selfdiscipline than me. Well done.

Knitter, have you tried posting on the childminder/nanny section here? Is there a cafe at any of the child-friendly parks? That's where I've seen all the flyers for courses etc. Or at the local surestart centre, maybe you could ask the organizer of some of the stay and play/toy library etc sessions to hand out your flyers?

I'm so excited, tomorrow's my day off with B and it's swimming. He's so much fun at the moment.

Oh lovely pic of R in the cat bed - he's so grown up!

LadyBee · 26/05/2009 23:39

And hello madameovary - nice to see you again!

EllieG · 27/05/2009 08:39

Hello ladies, how's tricks this morning?

Molly waved me off with a smile at nursery this morning, is so nice to see her happy there

soph - I think you should still dress Sam as a canary anyway

madameovary · 27/05/2009 08:46

Hi Ladybee
Hello Ellie, just waved Ellis off too.

Soph - had Ex coming round yesterday so was cleaning house so he couldn't whinge about it being a tip - but also quite enjoy cleaning too anyway that was why I didnt come back to the thread, wasnt ignoring you.
Knitter - hope your fliers are successful, I'm sure they will be.

Soph73 · 27/05/2009 12:31

Morning all!

LOL at Ellie - please tell me you were taking the mick when you suggested I dress Sam as a canary This outfit is prefereable - not this

Sal - so pleased you're enjoying work, makes all the difference.

Madameovary - you're more than welcome to come round and do mine ... we've got the room to put you up

EllieG · 27/05/2009 14:00

Hey MO and soph

I was taking the mick soph, but, I am ashamed to admit, I did initally think canary costume in a non-ironic manner, but that is because I am a bit slow

Having a lousy day today - am SO due on and everything is bothering me. Plus am waaaay more emotional about work since had a child and find it hard to handle stuff. Just seen this girl who was sexually abused by her step-father, and her Mum doesn't beleive her, and though she is this hard-looking, make-up covered thing, she was all sobbing and raw and vulnerable, and I just wanted to scoop her up and protect her, and I was so angry at her Mum. Talked to her Mum after and took all my self-control not to shout at her. I know all the reasons why people don't, how she has been groomed etc too but to hear a Mum blaming her child, when it is the bloke at fault, is something I will never understand or get used to.

Sorry for venting. Came back to the office and cried in the toilet out of sheer frustration.

EllieG · 27/05/2009 14:18

And I have just found I am a common person because have been known to use the phrase 'let's change your bum' to Molly. According to a thread on MN that is very, very wrong.

Oh dear.

Soph73 · 27/05/2009 14:51

Ellie - poor you and poor girl I also saw that thread and don't worry because you're not the only common one on here as I say "ta" to Sam and did with Tom as well. However, I say "snappy nappy change" and I'm sure that's intrinsically wrong on some level or another and incredibly damaging for Sam's development .... oh gosh, and he's got special needs so I'd probably be completely slated.

Also, sorry to hear you all PMTy. I'm definitely a lot more prone to PMT now than I ever was, it's a complete bastard bummer!

LadyBee · 27/05/2009 15:35

I don't get that thread, me and my CM both chime 'Thank youuu' when we're passing things back and forth to B and he still says 'Tah' back to us with a nod of the head who are these babies that are taught to say 'thank you' at 11 months anyway?
B says 'mum' but I don't think he means me, I think he means 'I want something'. Because he says it to DP when he sees something he wants to reach/get/be given.
He says 'mum. dat.' or 'dis. dis. dis.' as he's swapping between toys every 2 seconds (attention span of a goldfish).

VictorianSqualor · 27/05/2009 15:36

Lol, that thread is bollocks!!

LadyBee · 27/05/2009 15:50

It is though isn't it! It's all "I'm not a snob but..." I mean really.

What should I give B for supper tonight? Must try some more veges again, he became a total refusenik so I sort of gave up presenting him with plain veges and just added them to casseroles or hid them in omelettes/frittata etc. But the other night he quite happily munched several sticks of cucumber so maybe he'll not throw broccoli at me tonight

Soph73 · 27/05/2009 16:02

Ladybee - Sam started saying mum, mum, mum when I walked past with one his toys in my hand and I thought "oh what a clever little boy" and then DH walked past him with the same toy and he went "mum, mum, mum" - so it clearly had nothing to do with his superior learning skills and just mummy being precious

VS - hello there and yes you're right, complete bollocks. I do like looking at some of those types of threads though as they give me something to smile about during the day.

I know I spend far too much time on here, but some people clearly have far too much time on their hands. It was like the one about a CM giving someones LO shop-bought (M&S mind) pasta (gasp, shock, horror) and the one that's going on at the mo about smugness. You gotta larf
