OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Soph73 · 27/05/2009 16:04

Sorry Ladybee, can't really comment on the veggies as Sam is still strictly puree I'm very proud though as he will now "do" lumps in his food and will quite happily try and do finger food. He thinks it's hysterical to grab a bread stick/rice cake, etc and scrunch it all up in his hands. The look of concentration on his face is quite something as well I just love him, he's soooo adorable

VictorianSqualor · 27/05/2009 16:11

I rather like the way the OP talks as though she is a language artiste yet types in a terribly common way somewhat reminiscent of a year 11 student. No capitalisation of the pronoun 'I' for example, I'm assuming the written word doesn't bother her so much.

Soph73 · 27/05/2009 16:23

LOL VS

VictorianSqualor · 27/05/2009 16:26

Awwww, I just ahd the cutest 'Ta' ever

DS1 just came up to me carrying the TV remote, handed me it, and said 'Ta'

I took it, asked him if he wanted to watch 'night garden' and he nodded and pointed at the TV, so I said to him to go and sit down and he went and sat on the floor in front of it.

Soph73 · 27/05/2009 16:27

Bless his little cottons

madameovary · 27/05/2009 18:05

Soph - whereabouts are you? I might pop round

Sorry to hear you are having a rough day Ellie, that poor girl

Another great day at nursery for Ellis and I had a fab long shower with exfoliation AND moisturiser afterwards - bliss!

Ellis is also saying "Ta" and "Hadda" which is a form of "Hiya" though she says that too

Re that thread, yes it was bollocks wasn't it? I am another one who says "change your bum"

LadyBee · 27/05/2009 23:00

Oh I almost forgot to tell you my adventure today. I had a terrible, panic-inducing event happen after coming home from swimming this morning. B had fallen asleep in the car but woke up just as I carried him into the house. He's obsessed with keys and doors at the moment so grabbed my keys as I was putting him down. I let him have them rather than sparking off a tantrum and grabbed another set from the key rack by the door, left the door ajar and went to get the buggy out of the car and bring it in. Just as I was getting to the gate, B pushed the front door shut and I looked at my keys to find I'd picked up a set with just the car keys and no house keys on it .
So there was my baby in the house by himself, hungry and with my mobile phone in the change bag next to him and the door keys in his hand, and me standing outside in the rain with a bag of swimming stuff and a stroller and nothing else. I had just seen my neighbours on one side drive off as I arrived so I knew they weren't around and my neighbours on the other side are mysterious - I've talked to the woman twice and never seen anyone else. After briefly contemplating leaving B and running up to my childminder's house to get a locksmith/call DP/cry, I decided to try next door and see if I could get to our garden and break in if necessary. Thank goodness someone was home and they had 2 ladders so I was able to climb over our fence and discovered that I'd left one of the french doors unlocked so could get in without breaking anything. I got in just in time to see B heading towards the cat biscuits.
Have never been so relieved. DP and I are now trying to work out a safe place to leave a spare set of keys

Soph73 · 28/05/2009 09:10

Morning all. OK, so in an hour I'm off to see the speech therapist to try and get Sam's therapy re-started. Please send me all your luck and positive vibes.

Ladybee - you poor thing, has your heart slowed down yet?

Madameovary - Gran Canaria, come for a holiday, Denny just has

Denny - so, did you enjoy the rest of your hols? Are you now up to your eyeballs in washing and readjusting? Great to see you and the family

EllieG · 28/05/2009 09:57

Oh my goodness ladybee what a drama! I am terrible for doing things like that, so feel your pain. Twas alright though and that is the main thing

soph - good vibes coming your way lady.

Agree about the pasta thread btw, that made me laugh for ages and feel very smug that clearly I have better things to worry about. Or maybe am just very lazy, uncaring parent. Either way, my kids are still alive!

madameovary · 28/05/2009 10:09

Ladybee, you must have been frantic! Glad all ok now
Soph - All the best for your visit to the speech therapist. And Gran Canaria - wow! Just looked at your pics, you all look so smiley and happy. I may just take you up on that, must get a passport for DD!
Ellie, yes that pasta thread was v. entertaining wasnt it

Soph73 · 28/05/2009 13:47

I'm back. Thanks for all the good vibes. Unfortunately I haven't managed to get his speech therapy restarted as the therapist is completely convinced that he's far too young. He says that with NT children they wouldn't start speech therapy until they were 3 but Sam will start his at 2 because of the DS. However, we do have an appointment in November and he said that he will restart with the speech therapist then to carry on the exercises for his mouth. Why they can't do that now though I'm not sure. At least he knows he can't get rid of me though and I will keep popping in to see him as I don't want Sam to lose out just because we don't speak the language fluently.

Ladybee - yep, get that passport sorted

Ellie - look no further for a lazy parent. I'm laziness personified and I love it Ready made pasta all round everyone

EllieG · 28/05/2009 13:49

Meant to ask soph - is this the English speech therapy? Or did you decide to go spanish with Sam?

EllieG · 28/05/2009 13:51

sorry soph - xposted with you - that's a bummer but at least he's in the system sort of

Soph73 · 28/05/2009 13:54

Ellie - there aren't any English speaking speech therapists on the island so we have to have it in Spanish. The Speech Therapist did say that he has no problems with him having the therapy in Spanish and as long as he gets equal amount of time in Spanish and English there's every hope that he will be bilingual.

EllieG · 28/05/2009 13:59

Oh that's great isn't it? Will be really good for him for the future.

Soph73 · 28/05/2009 14:07

Yep tis very good

bunnyrabbit · 28/05/2009 15:20

Well Hello!!!

I didn't even know this thread existed.

How are you all?

BR

Soph73 · 28/05/2009 15:22

Hello BR Oh yes, we definitely exist - alive and kicking and going strong

bunnyrabbit · 28/05/2009 15:35

Oh cool. So nice to see all the familiar names again.

Sorry I've missed out on all your news for the past year.

DS2 is most definitely not toddling, or crawling, or even rolling over. He bum shuffles, very fast!

How about all of your LOs?

bunnyrabbit · 28/05/2009 15:40

omg just read your post LadyBee! You poor thing. What a nightmare. Least you got there before babyBee got to the cat biscuits!!

Soph73 · 28/05/2009 16:17

BR - Sam is doing well. He's still going for his occupational therapy and I'm trying to get his physio back up and running as his physiotherapist has been off sick since March. He rolls around all over the place, can nearly sit unaided, eats like a horse and likes to wave & clap while shouting "mu mu mu, da da da" at the top of his voice He also absolutely loves his nursery, which is a great weight off my mind. He is adorable .... in my completely unbiased opinion

LadyBee · 28/05/2009 17:12

Hello BR!
That's a fairly decent result Soph, glad he's not disappearing off the radar completely (you wouldn't let that happen!)
I think I must have still been a bit about what happened this morning as the poor CM kept asking me if I was ok. Oh well, another lesson learnt.
Ellie, how is work today? Do you have access to support in coping with the sorts of things you have to be around? We have a sort-of 'mummy mentor' scheme (it's not called that, they wouldn't dare) which pairs women returning to work after maternity leave up with another working mother in the company who can help with tips or just a listening ear if you need to vent. Would someone in your team understand how you're reacting now?

KnitterInTheNW · 28/05/2009 22:02

Hellooooo!

Mum and dad left this afternoon, and I'm shattered. Just managed to put everything back in the kitchen where it belongs!

Goodness LadyBee, my heart was in my mouth reading about your adventure, what a nightmare!

Hello BR!

George started taking a few steps on his own last week, but walking for him is still just an activity to get a round of applause rather than a way of getting from A to B. He's doing more and more standing alone so don't think it'll be toooo long.

Cheap train tickets for 22nd Aug become available at the weekend, can someone reassure me that Sat 22nd August is the planned meet up day please, so I can go ahead and book? Thanks.

OP posts:
SalLikesCoffee · 28/05/2009 22:25

Hello everybody!

Ready to fall in bed now! Went out for cocktails with my team after work today, which was really lovely.

Ladybee, I had that sinking feeling reading your post earlier. Was so relieved seeing how it ended up!

Soph, I actually did imagine you dressing up Sam as a canary, hahaha. I blame a lack of sleep...

I had rice pudding (well, and cocktails - not at the same time, mind you) for dinner. I think it's safe to say my diet's not going as planned.

SalLikesCoffee · 28/05/2009 22:26

Knitter, I'm definitely up for the 22nd. Ellie, have you bought your tickets?
