Ok, knitted woolly boots are NOT summery! My feet are feeling hot just thinking about wearing them in this weather!

But totally approve of pink!

Afternoon all. Haven't had a chance to catch up on all your gossip, will try and do so in a mo. We are all OK and had a lovely week lazing by the pool. Sam really loved the water and I'll show you all some piccies when I can

Having a bit of a nightmare at the mo. I'm trying to apply for Sam's passport asap as the social security office are denying our request for Sam's money as he has no ID card. Well, you can't apply for an ID card until you have a passport to prove your nationality! The first appointment to try and get him an ID card isn't until the 21 August so am trying to get his passport before then. I'll have to go back to the SS office though as we've only got 30 days to appeal against this decision. There's always an obstacle Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for us.

and toes

LadyBee · 14/07/2009 23:01

Don't laugh at the knitted fashions it'll be knitted leggings for us all next winter, I guarantee it

Sorry BR and Peachy, I've seen this abbreviation NT a couple of times and meant to ask what it means?

We're due to get a second MMR still, it's tomorrow but B has that look around his eyes - you know the one, where they get sort of pale but with a flush on the cheeks and around the eyes. My understanding is that the second dose is designed to catch the 2% that don't develop immunity to measles the first time around, so I'm not too worried about just waiting until B is totally fit. There's so much going about at the moment I'd rather not challenge his immune system too much.

Soooo - there is a big Giraffe in the Southbank centre (on the river), I've been there with fairly large groups and the staff are always brilliant about mess, chaos etc. The Southbank has the advantage that there's always a lot to look at around so if people want to walk by the river before or after, or even go to an attraction like the aquarium (totally brillant for babies)/London Eye/or hang out by the river it's all right there.
There's also Canteen at the Southbank - it's more grown up, does lovely food and if the weather is good, sitting on one of the big long tables outside with a jug of pink drink is a nice way to spend an afternoon. The staff are lovely about children there too.
There's a Giraffe in Islington (North London), which might be easier - it's closest to Angel tube station.
Or we could try Coram's fields and bring wine and picnic. It has the advantage of being completely & securely fenced but does depend more on the weather being good.
Or there's Inn the Park, in St James's park. Votes or other suggestions?

What time does your train get in Knitter?

SalLikesCoffee · 15/07/2009 01:14

Hellooo! Man, I'm sorry I am so quiet - feels like gatecrashing a party lately by rushing in after long absences! Work. Bah!
Have just finished something I need for tomorrow, about to die of tiredness. (Drama queen, I know.)

Knitter, thanks for Avon reminder - I'll have a look, think there's something I want.

Meetup. Ladybee's place (Coram's) sounds good, but I'm a little too tired to look at link properly now. So going on no info but excitement, my vote is:
Coram's if the sun shines (like the idea of wine and picnic), or Giraffe on South Bank.
All options mentioned so far sounds good though, so I'm an easy girl. Sadly for dh too tired for that to mean anything exciting...

Night, all. Will try and catch up more often now that this thread's back on "Threads I'm On". xxx

Our train gets into Euston at 10:12am, I wanted to give us masses of time to get to where we're meeting!

NT means Neuro Typical. i.e. Normal. Not special needs.

Unlike my DS1 who is ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and Peachy who has a catalogue of wonderful eccentricities in her brood

BR

EllieG · 15/07/2009 11:03

scorps - knitter could do you some boots, she's very talented, and am sure would cost less than 100 squids

I vote for Inn on Park or either Giraffe or the Canteen. Coram sounds lovely but it says you aren't allowed in there without a child and we'll only have 2 or 3 between us....I could bring along a cardboard cutout of mine but am not sure it would be as good! Plus my sister is coming and she doesn't have one so might feel a bit out of it.

So essentially, I don't mind.

bunnyrabbit · 15/07/2009 12:09

Is the idea to bring the DCs or not? I can do either (if I can make it..)

MommyHasaHeadache · 15/07/2009 12:15

Love those uggs Scorpio! I've wanted a black or grey pair since last winter - but not at those prices!

Thanks for the link to Visa Suze. They are a bit too far for me to travel though, but thank you for thinking of me anyway. Funnily enough the company I used to work for did a big deal with Visa just before I left, so I am quite familiar with them! The job search still continues... sigh... Will I ever get a job?!

I vote for the same as Ellie - Inn on Park/Giraffe/Canteen. All are nice. Have we set a time yet? And is everyone (bar Ellie and her sister) bringing their DC along?

Soph- good luck with the passport. Sounds like a real pain in the bum!

Ladybee/Scorps - Gigi is also having her MMR booster today. Kind of dreading it (as with every jab).

bunnyrabbit · 15/07/2009 12:32

Silly question, but what age are they when they have the booster? Is it 3??

KnitterInTheNW · 15/07/2009 12:41

Inn the park looks a bit... ummm... expensive . Children's meals £7.50!

I'm bringing G, it'd be nice for him to have some company! (Although he'd also be happy flirting with you all if he's the only DC!)

If we're doing the Giraffe, South Bank or Islington both easy enough for me, Angel and Waterloo stations are both on the Northern line, as is Euston where I'll be arriving. Waterloo is further but has disabled access so easier for buggies.

EllieG · 15/07/2009 13:04

Can we do Canteen?

Scorps · 15/07/2009 13:05

All good at MW today, baby growing really well despite my nearly flat stomach . Mimi fine at injection hardly cried, bless her little heart

Pink boots soon

Scorps · 15/07/2009 13:06

MHAH - they are cheaper on Amazon, £90?

Scorps · 15/07/2009 13:12

Is Lacey a silly name? please be honest. Also what middle name would go?

MommyHasaHeadache · 15/07/2009 13:22

Thanks Scorps - will have a look!

Love the name Lacey and Gigi was very nearly a Lacey until someone told me she would be called lacey knickers at school! LOL For me it would have been Lacey Jessica.

Knitter/Ellie - Either Giraffe or Canteen is fine with me! And Waterloo would be my preference too.

KnitterInTheNW · 15/07/2009 13:28

I just called Canteen as I couldn't see a children's menu on their website, and I can't see G eating any of the veggie things which is what I'd be having! They said they have a few of the things on the main menu, for half the price for half a portion. So Canteen or Giraffe ok with us. Can I request that we meet a little before 12, so that G can be eating close to 12 please? He'll have been up from early and doesn't cope well with being hungry!

Great news at MW, Scorps. And yay at pink boots!

OP posts:
KnitterInTheNW · 15/07/2009 13:29

Or meet earlier,obv!

OP posts:
Scorps · 15/07/2009 13:31

Ooooh Lacey Jessica is loverrrly, though Jessica is v similar to Jessamy, Mimi's middle name. Any other suggestions...Lacey ?? I bet its a boy

Going to order from amazon, these ones tomorrow

I think DH despairs of me and my boot fetish.

KnitterInTheNW · 15/07/2009 13:53

He can despair away then can't he!!!!!

OP posts:
Scorps · 15/07/2009 13:56

yes as he gets his fair share of holidays!! He knows it pays to keep Mrs indoors happy

I'm slightly jeamlous of meet up. Just a mega trek for me, unless i fly, but am too scared to do London travelling alone [lived in Cornwall forever emoticon]

KnitterInTheNW · 15/07/2009 14:08

Oh bless you! Where would you arrive into London? Would it be City airport?

OP posts:
Scorps · 15/07/2009 14:08

Well you can fly Newquay-City i think.

bunnyrabbit · 15/07/2009 14:19

If we could meet earlier in the day then there is a very good chance I could come as I could leave earlier and still make the family commitment.

Scorps. It would be sooo lovely if you could come......
