BR I ahve, embarassingly, got 2 ears MN duty on you

We're not going cmping until the 23rd July but the week at Whitsun was incredible so fair enough, can't complain (much)

I like olives, yum.

EllieG · 13/06/2009 20:24

Hey ladies!

I like hearing these stories, some of you are almost as dissolute as me....mine and DH's beginning was somewhat scandalous at the time as there was a bit of (ahem) er overlap, shall we say, from my previous marriage....but 'tis all water under the bridge now and everyone is much, much happier. Me, I am much happier than I deserve, considering what a trollop I am, but I guess DH being such a lovely person means that I got some of his luck

Am dying to know where knitter's piercings are though....

I am booking the boat for my summer hol in France this evening and getting excited! And then getting EVEN MORE EXCITED because a week after I come back I come to London and meet some of you lot! Woo!

Denny185 · 13/06/2009 20:39

I know where one of her piercings is, not sure if she has any more though...

Glad youv'e managed to get reasonable priced tickets on the 22nd Knitter, I owuld have liked to have come but I fear I will be spending the day in Thomas land for DS's b-day.

Scorpio, so glad your doing ok and that you came back to let us know.

I met my DH one of the first few weeks at uni, I sat in a launderette and watched him tip all his washing in one machine while i sat there thinking those whites wont stay white. We chatted a few times over the next couple of years but didn't get together till the end of the second year, moved in together fairly quickly and were marride after 4ish years. Its our 10 year anniversary on 26th of June. Not v interesting no scandels

One of the girls at work not very happy with me as i told her off yesterday for having an hour an half lunch break. Really pissed off with her for taking the piss and thining I'd be such a soft touch as to say nothing about it - raaahhhh

KnitterInTheNW · 14/06/2009 12:44

Hi all!

Spent the last 2 evenings babysitting for sitters. Fri night, lovely, massive (and I mean MASSIVE!) house, 1 year old was in bed, 4 year old just wanted a story reading and then went straight to sleep. Easy night. Last night - ugh! House was filthy, I wanted to give it a good scrub while I was there! 11 yr old and 5 year old girls and twin 7 yr old boys. They were all still up at nearly midnight, playing 'shooting' games on some sort of games console, perfectly normal apparently. Got home at 1:30am (yawn) and thankfully DH gt up with G at 6. I wish I could say to sitters 'please only give me jobs at nice houses!

Piercings - I have my tongue pierced (that's the one that Denny knows about!) and also one a little more... ummm... intimate.

EllieG · 15/06/2009 09:48

Blimey knitter you dark horse! And there was I thinking you were such a wholesome type

Scorps · 15/06/2009 10:07

Knitter - baby sitting sounds fun Now I'm wondering HOW intimate your piercing is....cos surely we would have known if it was nipple? Hee hee

I only have my ears pieced once. But i have 3 tattoos, does that count?

Weekend was good, but back to reality too soon!

Scorps · 15/06/2009 10:07

Oh & scan on wednesday, i am 13 weeks tomorrow!

KnitterInTheNW · 15/06/2009 10:34

Isn't nipple! (don't they say it's the quiet ones you have to watch out for, Ellie?)

Yay for scan! My pg friend just had her 20 week scan and was very excited!

What tats do you have Scorpio, and where? I have one on my hip, my 21st bday pressie to myself! Oh, that was such a long time ago...

Avon lady is coming at either 12 or 3 to chat and maybe give me a few streets to try to sell to. God, I so miss living in London, with a LOT of disposable income and no worries!

SuperSoph73 · 15/06/2009 12:40

Afternoon all.

I've scarred my baby for life We went to the swimming pool on Sat, Sam was sat on a sunbed & I turned my head for a second ... really, it was 1 second & he fell off the sunbed onto a concrete floor, head first The noise will stay with me forever, it makes me feel sick just thinking about it. Fortunately there was a private docs at the end of the road & she patched him up. He didn't need "real" stitches, just the butterfly ones. I'm a bad mummy.

On a positive note ... we now have internet at home - yay

Scorps · 15/06/2009 13:05

Soph, I'm sure Sam is fine and won't remember, Mimi is always bumping herself. she seems to cut her lip alot

Knitter I have chinese writing on the back of my shoulder; curly wirly hearts and things on my tummy and a lizard just above my ankle. First two i had at 15, third at 17. I don't mind them but don't adore them either. DH has a few tattoos, 4 i think? his are bigger though, and he got my name tattooed on him when we had only been together 10 weeks, lol. Silly boy. Good job we stayed together

SuperSoph73 · 15/06/2009 14:41

Scorps - yes he will be fine ... I think he forgot about it 5 mins after the doc patched him up It's just bad old mummy that will feel dreadful forever And, like you say, he's not likely to remember it so that's a good thing.

Denny185 · 15/06/2009 16:46

Ouch, hope his war wounds are on the mend, dont feel bad its one of those things. Yeah to internet at home though.

Do you get many jobs through Sitters knitter, do you know how much the hourly charge is? Hope the chat with avon lady went ok, could you do better ware at the same time?

Weve been making pirates outfit for DD1's first overnight school trip on Fri.

SuzeMcG · 15/06/2009 19:40

MHaH - I will let you know if I hear of anything.

I use Sitters, it is a great service. E is always in bed and I tidy up before the babysitter arrives! Denny, here are the charges.

I am very boring. Met DH when I was 22, got married at 28 and had DD at 36 ... I took my time!

Glad you are doing well, Scorpio.

Soph, E just got stuck in her bathseat. She is too chubby for it now. I had to lift her out of the bath in the seat, and practically tip her upside down to get her out. She was roaring all the while. She gave me a few dirty looks after I finally freed her.

Have a great time in Peru, Sal! We are going to Ireland tomorrow (far less exciting).

SalLikesCoffee · 15/06/2009 21:30

Oh Suze, that just made me laugh! That's the times you wish later you had a camera - little chubby baby-bum stuck in a seat! Heheheh.

Cool, enjoy Ireland! Holiday I assume, or work? Dh flew to Dublin tonight for work, back again on Wed night. He's so hands-on with R and gets up most nights (I'm officially the worst mom alive - husband does more than me... ), so I'll miss that. Oh, and him of course.

Soph, can imagine it was such a shock! Boys are supposed to give their moms heart attacks though (well, if my brothers was anything to go by), so don't feel bad.

I'm making pork chops for dinner. Just pork chops, couldn't bother with anything else. I should really be ashamed, but am not. At all. Makes me think back to my single days, when I lived off two-minute noodles and Coke.

KnitterInTheNW · 15/06/2009 21:56

Ooo poor Sam! Def he'll be fine, and def you'll be feeling bad and a bit sick for a long time! That's how we're wired isn't it...

I've had 3 jobs through sitters in the last couple of weeks, but one of them cancelled on the day. Bit annoying really, good job we have no social life!

Chat with the avon lady went well, her daughter used to live in the house that backs onto ours and she lives round the corner, and she was very chatty so now I know all about her family! Have delivered my first 48 brochures tonight and picking up orders on thurs, then re-delivering them either same day or next day. Money's not tooooo bad, you don't get anything on orders less than £80 per 3 weeks, then 20% from £80 to £150 or 25% over £150. Depends on if the streets I've been allocated like avon I suppose!

I looked into bettaware too, but they charge £75 to set up, you don't get allocated streets so you could be pushing catalogues through the same doors as 4 other people. Avon only charge £15 set up, and they take £7.50 off your 1st 2 orders so you don't have to find it to start with. Fingers crossed!

Lol at E getting stuck in her bath seat, bless her!

Have a fab time in Ireland, Suze.
And in Peru, Sal!
(and on your 1st aid course on saturday knitter, mutter mutter, nothing exciting ever happens to me, mutter mutter...)

Actually I'd like to point out that I'll be leaving G with DH for a WHOLE DAY on saturday and the one after, to do ofsted approved 1st aid course. Never done that before and I'm missing him already!!

Have decided when we've got the new house sorted out that I'll prob register as a childminder. That was always the plan for after we have number 2, just be bringing it forward a couple of years. It's the paperwork I'm not looking forward to with that.

OP posts:
SalLikesCoffee · 15/06/2009 22:28

Knitter, you've got a wild life, what, with your, uhm, well, private piercings and all!

Avon thing sounds good. I assume posting an order would make no sense as the postage will cancel out your order, but if you ever want to do postal orders, let me know. I've never bought Avon but have seen a couple of things that looked good.

First aid course sounds great. I know you're doing it for work too, but I think it's brilliant for any parent. I should really do one myself. What do you learn on one? I've only been on a "parents" one when roelof was a baby, and it was brilliant. Who do you do it through?

KnitterInTheNW · 15/06/2009 22:38

It's a st johns ambulance one.

If I'm still Avon-ing in August, if there was anything you wanted I could get it and bring it when we come?

OP posts:
SalLikesCoffee · 16/06/2009 11:51

Cool, good idea. Will check again with you closer to the time.

R woke up 3 times last night. At work now with industrial strength coffee at my side...

Scorps · 17/06/2009 10:48

Scan today! Nervous and excited... Also Is going public time . Eek. I swear I can feel it move occasionally but maybe I am a nutter. 13 weeks now.

KnitterInTheNW · 17/06/2009 10:53

I'm excited for you Scorpio! What time?

It makes it even more really really real doesn't it, after that 13 week scan?

OP posts:
Scorps · 17/06/2009 10:58

Half one....it will make it very real. I seem to be huge already LOL (well now my size 8 trousers actually feel a little tight now LOL)

SuperSoph73 · 17/06/2009 15:40

Afternoon ladies. Guess what ... I'm MNing from home DS1 is off sick today. He had a really high fever last night and this morning. His Summer Concert is tomorrow so thought I'd keep him at home today so that he's alright for that. He'd be devastated if he missed it.

Scorps - looking forward to hearing how it went

Scorps · 17/06/2009 16:21

Had a lovely long scan edd put as 25 december LOl

Also she looked between it's legs but cord in the way but I think boy. Baby was sleeping and we had to prod it to do the nuchal fold bit. Had blood and they weighed me - I came out as 8st 8 which I swear is wrong but dh says it's right

Am so chuffed now to tell some people.....

SalLikesCoffee · 17/06/2009 22:48

Hey, great news on scan, Scorpio! A christmas baby!

How's DS1 tonight, Soph? Will keep everything crossed that he's better tomorrow.

2 days to Peru... I'm getting a little scared now! Not of the being there, of course, but the getting there.

Dh back from work trip tonight. Great having him back.

madameovary · 18/06/2009 10:10

Scorps, great to see you back and congrats on your pregnancy and scan!
Soph, I am glad Sam is ok - I remember when Ellis took a dive off the sofa - they do love to give us a fright dont they!

I have not been sleeping great as my ex is getting married this month (well, some commitment ceremony anyway. He has known her 6 months ) I am not attending needless to say and finding the whole thing quite difficult.
Still have been getting lots of support both on here on the Emotional Abuse thread and in RL, so am looking forward to moving on.
Ellis is sleeping better after some VERY early starts - still wakes 3 or 4 times a night but I am used to that now!
She can now stand on her own for a good ten seconds so walking cant be far behind.

Ooh, get all you with tats and piercings! I never fancied a tattoo (too much of a wuss)and I had my ears and nose pierced when I was 20, but had fairly gruesome reactions to them and decided to give up after that.
