is anybody else ravenously hungry all the time??

i could eat 24 hours a day. mostly cake.
currently munching on peanut butter banana and nutella sandwich.

gingersarah · 19/05/2009 14:32

Oh yes - so much better here after the shower! And so nice of V to be so quiet and calm and let me have it.

Purple - what is boob group? Can I join? Is it like a book group - you sit around and discuss a particular set of boobs each week?

Can I just say that people with possible kidney infections, replacing their taps immediately after mad dash around schools etc maybe are pushing themselves a bit too hard? My mum is very tough and super pro bfing - for the mother as much as for the baby - but even she said to me the other day that she found it hard to do a lot else physical while doing it. she pointed out that it is known that being pg takes it out of you - well bf is taking more out of you because a. your baby is bigger now and needs more calories, and b. converting your food to milk before you feed your baby (as opposed to directly through the placenta) is less efficient. SO please all look after yourselves and don't try to do too much (easier said than done I know, but...)

So - everyone be kind to themselves as much as they can... even fanjo warriors need tlc

AuldAlliance · 19/05/2009 14:33

I don't know if I'm hungry all the time, I think I just got into the habit of eating a lot all day long when I was PG (am now paying the price, as have fat where I have never had any before, certainly not after DS1 was born).
I keep snacking, and cake is indeed high on the list of desirable foods.
Your sandwich sounds pretty damn good, purplemonkey. Peanut butter is like gold dust around here.
Nice cakes, however, are not. Luckily for my waistline, I have things to do and can't go via the pâtisserie to collect DS1 from school.

More viewers coming.
Am starting to wonder when owner and agents will twig that the price asked is clearly not right.

gingersarah · 19/05/2009 14:33

Hi Purple - yes, starving. I am going out for coffee in a bit, I think I will pretend I have not had lunch and have a second one or some cake or something while I am out.

AuldAlliance · 19/05/2009 14:36

ginger, I hear your wise words...I just am not sure how to do less.
DH has decided that as the tap doesn't leak if it is carefully turned off in a specific position, and we are being turfed out in a few months, it's not worth the faff.
Good thing he decided this before I piled Alex into the car, drove to the DIY store, dismantled the bathroom, etc.

AuldAlliance · 19/05/2009 14:36

x-posts: wise words re not overdoing it, obv, not re having two lunches!!

gingersarah · 19/05/2009 14:37

PS sorry to dominate the air space but I just wanted to share... I really don't know how I will stand it when V is a teenager. She is so clearly so completely exquisitely perfect and so naturally blissfully unaware of this that when she wants to drink and hang out with nasty low life boys who only want the one thing and wear slutty clothes and pretend to be half as clever as she is I will DIE OF ANGUISH.

PuzzleRocks · 19/05/2009 14:38

Oh good, not just me troughing 24/7. I can't see how I will ever shift this weight.

Schulte - Don't be so fussy, there were some fine catches there. I actually felt spoilt for choice.

gingersarah · 19/05/2009 14:40

Auld - good news about the tap - I quite agree that you are putting enough energy into someone else's place as it is.

Viewers - ugh

Right I have to get going, don't want to miss the cake-portunity

PuzzleRocks · 19/05/2009 14:44

Ginger - DH has shotguns for those years!

OP posts:
bronze · 19/05/2009 14:44

any ideas please

purplemonkeydishwasher · 19/05/2009 14:50

ginger - that is a VERY good idea to pretend to not have had any lunch! (get more lunch and THEN cake!)

'Boob group' is the Breastfeeding Support Group that I go to. though it's not so much as support group as a 'eat biscuits and drink tea and shoot the shit' group. I used to go with DS and met all my close friends there. It's weird being there again with different mums and different babies. it's just different. and I have to bring DS with me. it used to be in a room that also did a toddler group on other days so there were toys there but they've changed venues for the toddler group. disaster! no toys!!

Schulte · 19/05/2009 14:58

Hungry yes but mostly I am constantly thirsty! Always have a pint glass of water on the go.

Teenage years... I think my girls will be quite good at looking after themselves. DD1 certainly is fierce and fearless I think the boys will have to be careful! I personally am looking forward to taking revenge and waking them up early on a Saturday morning when all they want to do is have a lie in.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 19/05/2009 15:00

i think DH will probably have a coronary when DD is older. He's very overprotective of me and his mom and we're grown women FGS. Have I mentioned that he's never really had much to do with girls before? he's doomed!!

Juwesm · 19/05/2009 15:02

Yes to eating all day.
Yes (yes yes) to cake.
Yes to taking it easy. I am doing enough taking it easy for all of us. I barely move.

Bronze - sorry, no idea, Immortality does seem to e the best way.

I have wondered about going to local boob group, but I a complete pansy when it comes to meeting new people. I like to have an existing friend to meet new people with!

M&B group today, but have missed that as am waiting in for buggy delivery which, it appears, will not be today. Weighing-in day tomorrow, which I will also not go to, due to waiting in for buggy tomorrow now. So will probably get earful from HV next week when she comes to administer the PND questionnaire and finds he's not been weighed for 3/52! Hey ho!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 19/05/2009 15:07

you should go juw! i knew nobody in this town before i went. of course it's a crap shoot as to whether the other mums will be cool or not. i lucked out last time. this time i don't think i'll find a BFF but it's a free cup of tea!

there are 2 HVs who run our group and they weigh the babies so you don't have to bother with the baby clinic (personally i do't think weighing all the babies in a group lke that is a good idea, it makes for competition but hey ho!) anyway, got Isla wieghed and she's 10.14 now! that was her fully clothed of course becuase she was asleep but still! i was hoping for a lovely petite baby this time. and i got me another moose!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 19/05/2009 15:08

(anyone have any cake they want to share??)

bronze · 19/05/2009 15:09

puzzle not just you just eaten pack of jaffa cakes

Schulte · 19/05/2009 15:10

Purple - my parents have just come back from Waitrose with a lemon tart - want any?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 19/05/2009 15:15

yes. yes i do.
and some jaffa cakes.

Juwesm · 19/05/2009 15:24

I made a lemon drizzle cake last week, but I gave it all away Baby brain is clearly even more addled than pg brain. Best I can offer you Purple is a muesli bar or a green banana

Juwesm · 19/05/2009 15:32

Reeeeeeally want a chocolate milkshake.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 19/05/2009 15:46

oh YES milkshake!
(stop it now. you're just being mean)

further to my sling thread: what kind of wrap sling do you have? mine came with a DVD, i lend it to you if you like.

Juwesm · 19/05/2009 15:50

Mine is a Calin Bleu gauze and is approximately 27 metres long!!! How are you getting on with yours? I just can't seem to get it fastened neatly and tightly. Plus am being a bit pfb about it What kind is yours? Did you find the DVD useful? There are also loads of vids on YouTube, and the ladies in the sling cupboard are very helpful.

I have some strawberry Crusha if that will do? There may be some choc Nesquik at the back of the cupboard....

Juwesm · 19/05/2009 15:51

It's just not the same as a proper thick milkshake though With icecream......nom nom nom
