Oh Bronze, he is being really selfish. I'm sorry.
Mine called to say his best mate (who lives 2hrs away and is in Marseille once a fortnight) had asked him for a drink, and had he my permission to go.
Which is a load of pants - as if I ever forbid/permit him to do anything.

bronze · 22/05/2009 20:01

I did get a phone call leter saying he would come home if I wanted him to knowing full well I wouldnt stop him

tristalewjac · 22/05/2009 20:18

guys I need some help quickly if you can, might have to start a thread 'outside' this one to get some advice quickly.
I have deep and very sore breast pain, both boobs.
I saw doc about it a week and a half ago and she gave caneston thinking it was external thrush. Didn't help at all.
HV on tuesday was ace. She said no point using caneston as it's internal not external and to try techniques to rule out blockages, ie hot shower, massaging etc and if nothing worked she said she strongly suspected deep rooted thrush. She advised me to go to doc today and pass on her thoughts, so they could give me tablets to get rid of thrush.
Ok so I tried all the techniques and my boobs are still in agony. You'd never know to look at them. There are no external signs. But even just putting my arms at my sides is agony. If anything at all puts pressure on them it's awful.
So I went to doc today. He had a quick glance at one boob, and said it's due to poor drainage and prescribed co-codamol.
I told him HV had said she thinks thrush and he said it couldn't possibly be thrush without any external symptoms.
He refused to consider thrush and said take the co-codamol.
I argued that pain relief will do only that, relieve pain, not treat the problem. So he gave me a script for antibiotics.
I've taken 1 but am starting to think that it's a wrong move, carrying on. I had a glance on-line and have read that if HV is correct and it is thrush, then anti-B's might make it worse.
Can anyone offer any advice? As I said I've already taken 1st of antibiotics course, so would I be silly to stop, or silly to carry on?
Sorry guys, but I just dont know what to do.

AuldAlliance · 22/05/2009 20:35

Sorry, trista, I have no answers.Maybe you're right - post a thread elsewhere (and keep bumping it so it shows up in "the last 15 mins").
Hope someone with advice comes along soon.

Northernlurker · 22/05/2009 20:43

Well it could be thrush (of which I have no experience) - or it could be some sort of mastitis thing. Bit unusual I think for that to be both breasts though. Have you tried ringing one of the breastfeeding helplines? If they reckon it's thrush not infection then don't take any more abs and go to a walk in clinic tomorrow.

tristalewjac · 22/05/2009 20:44

hiya thanks auld. I posted in breast and bottle feeding. Have had some replies. I'm going to stop taking Antibiotics and talk to HV again on tuesday.

mrsgboring · 22/05/2009 22:36

Tuesday is a hell of a long time to wait. Can you see someone out of hours? It is definitely an urgent problem as it's causing you pain and that could lead to feeding issues / mastitis. So feel justified in getting help tomorrow from someone.

bronze · 23/05/2009 11:36

I had thrush with no visible symptons so hes talking rubbish. Go and see another doctor

BabyBolat · 23/05/2009 11:42

Hey lovely ladies, just popping in to apologise for not posting the award winners yet - yesterday was a bit of a right off but am doing it today so any last minute votes by 5pm today and will post the winners this evening!

Hope you all have a good day!

xxxxx

p.s Trista - your doc is rubbish, call the bf'ing lines and try and get them to come round to you or pop in to a clinic!

Good luck!

DungunGirl · 23/05/2009 11:47

Hello everyone!

I found you all...hooray! Not that I am actually finding time and energy to go on the web these days!

It was soooo much easier when my first DS was a baby, I seemed to spend hours on the internet. But with this new baby AND a 4 year old, well I probably get on the laptop once a week if that!

Haven't read through the whole thread yet but a late CONGRATULATIONS to everyone and all the APril babies.

I never got to updating the info on the antenatal thread, so just a bit of info.

My baby boy was born 17th april - 3 days after his due date. Just like my first! Spooky! Exactly 3 days late!

He is called Aden Lee and he was 9 pounds 4 oz. He is now almost a 10 pounder! Shocking!

The birth was ok, but there were complications that meant the labour went on for an additional 3 hours!!! Baby was low but my waters were not breaking and when eventually they broke them, and baby was born, he was born with the cord around his neck, which is what stopped his head descending totally and breaking the waters.
ooopppss...baby is squacking so i'll try and catch up again soon.

take care all

gingersarah · 23/05/2009 12:14

Hi Dungangirl, congratulations.

I am feeling very and about all the health problems on this thread, especially Looby and Trista who I think have had crap care and advice from their doctors. Trista, do you have any kind of out of hours service near you? It's a long time to wait till Tuesday, plus, it's a way of getting in front of another doctor rather than going back to the one who was useless before - not necessarily a more clued up one, but at least there is a chance if it is someone different.

Thanks Auld for your lovely encouraging post yesterday and all the treats! I highhandedly helped myself to Boff's olives too, decided there were enough to go around

Springy - full updates please on your time away and all goings on at Chateau Springy now you are back!

Nutty - big hugs to you. Sorry to hear DH is being an arse and now you are on 24 hour duty. The only thing I can say really is to echo what Auld said yesterday - T will not be newborn and colicky for ever. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE eat! If you can't get DH on meals duty, then please prioritise eating for your own health anyway. It takes 5 minutes to make cheese on toast and it is not cruel to leave a baby crying for less than a handful of minutes if it is about keeping up the strength of its mother.

I hope you all have good weather where you are and the sunshine lifts your spirits. Happy bank holiday weekend!

Evening all

I made lemon drizzle cake and banana bread with DS1 today, anyone want a slice? the lemon cake was made in a Moomin cake tin, too.

Orbit has a cold and we went to a wedding yesterday so we are all completely exhausted.

BB - peanut butter for your mouse, they can't resist it. Use one of those humane traps and then release it at least 2 miles from your house so it doesn't come back.

Looby hope you're feeling better really soon, so sorry to hear of your health problems.

trista you poor thing with the boobs, are you sure it's not mastitis? I got it in both sides at once with DS1, it was hell.

Congratulations DungunGirl! Know what you mean about no time to MN, I lurk a lot but never have energy/time to post.

Boff hope you're ok and have got over your snidey mums at school - have some cake

bronze - have a big hug, DP/Hs can be really quite annoying at times.

Ho hum, have to go and have Orbit weighed next week as he has to go to baby clinic at least once before his eight week check, which is on Friday. Was meant to go last week. Ooops.....God knows how much he weighs now, but it's quite a lot.

Also, we have been outdone. Met a girl at the wedding with her eight week old, born four days before Orbit, naturally, at home, weighing.....10lbs 8oz!

I slunk off, feeling completely outdone.

We bonded later over bfeeding on a large sofa in the ladies - wedding outfits being what they are, we were both pretty much stripped to the waist, it was like a milking parlour in there!

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 23/05/2009 22:17

p.s. Juwesm I have discovered something that works as well as lactulose for DS1's poo situation - about half a pound of grapes, scoffed in one afternoon! FIVE poos on Thursday.....

BofftheToff · 23/05/2009 22:52

Hello all. I am feeling a bit better about things today. Probably because DH took a turn last night, and I got nearly 7 hours sleep. Thanks for words of support everyone, and Puzzle, that picture was spot on.

Trista, you can get the oral thrush tablets prescribed, but it is also possible to buy them over the counter at the chemist, and I have taken them while bf, prescribed by the GP. In your position I would probably ignore the conflicting advice from the health professionals and take a tablet, also feed very thoroughly dropping the breast into the baby's mouth while he is lying on the changing mat in case of possible mastitis, get as much rest as possible, and finally get a really good nursing bra properly fitted. If all that doesn't start to help, then antibiotics might be the way forward. That's what I would do anyway.

bronze · 23/05/2009 23:34

Boff I read that as dh had a turn (think funny turn)

which reminds me hows he doing these days?

We are family by sister sledge...

CHORUS
We are family
I got all my sisters with me
We are family
Get up ev'rybody and sing

Ev'ryone can see we're together
As we walk on by
(FLY!) and we fly just like birds of a feather
I won't tell no lie
(ALL!) all of the people around us they say
Can they be that close
Just let me state for the record
We're giving love in a family dose

(CHORUS x2)

Living life is fun and we've just begun
To get our share of the world's delights
(HIGH!) high hopes we have for the future
And our goal's in sight
(WE!) no we don't get depressed
Here's what we call our golden rule
Have faith in you and the things you do
You won't go wrong
This is our family Jewel

(REPEAT CHORUS TO FADE

BB thanks loads for doing the awards, it's a lovely end to the antenatal threads.
I got one! Thanks guys xxx
We should write a book with all the highlights, ups and downs we've all been through together. It would be a lovely keepsake.

kids being annoying
I just get ignored then they wonder why things go wrong. I'm fed up saying saying stuff til I'm blue in the face. I've tried the how to talk so they listen tactics, bribery, shouting you name it nothing fucking works

then I discover that I can redecorate my whole house while pregnant and still not get an award
