HAPPY BIRTHDAY EGG

OP posts:
gingermumi · 01/08/2009 10:55

Hope you a lovely day egg

Not long to scan now sarah, hope you're dads doing ok, must be a worry for you.

Swotty ds loves mueli too! lol, but only from dhs bowl, bet he wouldn't eat it if we gave it to him in his own bowl. he's being a bit of a pain with food generallyand only eats when he wants too- typical toddler!

Gill, have emailed you! Toby also does things like that- least weekend we went to a family party, but during the day we were helping to set it all up. Normally he sleeps for a couple of hours in the morning and this was when we were going to help (or rather i was sending dh!) but he wouldn't go down for love nor money so we took him to the shops to get balloons etc and he fell asleep in the car. Good we thought, he can sleep there while we help...hmmm 20 mins later up and about and that was all the sleep he had all day - right up until about 9pm when we left! Little buggers

Gill79 · 01/08/2009 21:02

And no sleep yesterday either! Was beginning to get seriously worried but luckily he did sleep for two fantastic hours today. Mowed lawn, did some weeding, cleaned bathroom, tidied bedroom - brilliant!

We are now having full-on, at-the-drop-of-the-hat screamy tantrums. Hilarious. For the first time I feel like I have actual real parenting to do rather than just keeping-alive. This morning's was because he was offered a strawberry. Lasted 45 minutes . Yesterday's was cause he wanted a second pouch of Plum veg puree. They have pictures of a baby on the front so he calls them "baby". He lay on the kitchen floor screaming "baby!" "baby!" "baby!".Love it.

Swotty I think the day-of-the-week-grumpiness might be due to it being the first day at home after nursery. Malc is quite often pretty bad on Wednesdays (he is at nursery Monday and Tuesday) and is bad with DP on Saturdays. It's like they need to readjust to you.

swottybetty · 02/08/2009 23:37

i know exactly what you mean about the proper parenting starting gill. tho' i am couching it in slightly dif terms - this is where the bad parenting begins .

we have screeching and whinging more than tantrums. dd now hates most forms of transport - car is really awful and the rucksack carrier we bought is a no no now too. a 45 min strop is quite impressive gill - i think i would be proud.

sarah - ooohhhh scan date is really near. that is so exciting. do you have a feeling about whether its a boy or girl? will you find out at 20wk one? sorry to hear your dad's been put thru the mill. hope you and your family doing ok.

ginger - i hope you are enjoying the holidays. i cant believe how quickly they are going already. dd's nap today was completley off-kilter and it really threw our plans for the day. darn babies, they never seem to get with the programme.

ds farting and squeaking in his cot. arg. he has been so tough today. how is it possible not to be able to get yourself to sleep? sleeping is easy. i think maybe he has reflux. where is princessllama when you need her... she was like queen of reflux know-how

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 03/08/2009 08:21

swotty would def like to find out at 20 weeks!!!! DS is convinced its two and brother and a sister!!!(i hawever am praying its only one!!!!lol) Dont mind which sex we have but i spose if i am hosest i would love another DD!!!!lol

midwife is com ing tuesday to do my booking appt too!!!its all getting really real now

Dad is getting there he is back for a scan of his heart later this week am hpouing its all just stress related and nothing too seroius, i am sure it will be fine!!!! thanks for asking after him, thats so thoughful.

swotty i hope bob doesn't have reflux and its just a bad night for him, xxx

Gill79 · 05/08/2009 00:14

hello all - a late night!

Two significant events - Malc's first poo on the loo (!!) - just good timing on my part and could have gone very wrong - and..... his first swear word. I kicked over a bottle of water and said oh shit! - only to have it repeated back to me with a big grin for the next half hour.

No more naughty words in this house!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 05/08/2009 08:39

lmao gill!!!!!!!!!

good timing with the poo!!!!!

OP posts:
swottybetty · 05/08/2009 20:58

dd says fox in way that sounds remarkably like another f word. we've seen foxes from her bedroom window, and she often says fox when i open or close curtains. other day she was fast asleep quite late in day and i went in to wake her. she was lying on front and when i opened curtains she sat bolt upright in cot in that startled just-be-woken way saying "fock! fock!"

ahh... the pre-scan twins thing. in my own dark way i had a fair few twins fantasies sarah . lord knows we are really struggling with just the two of them. i had forgotton how obsessed you can become with their poos at this age - bob been real hard work for three pooless days. finally emptied guts this evening and he is currently - hurrah - asleep. was walking him round school car park in sling in wee hours this morning.

gill - given you have always been one of the most poo-obsessed on this thread, it seems right and proper that malcom should poo in a loo years before the rest of us. is it ok to call you poo obsessed?

Gill79 · 05/08/2009 23:05

NOOOOOOO!!!!! Not ok!!!!!!!!!!

Love the fox thing. A lot. Hope she can do that for me when we meet up

Gill79 · 05/08/2009 23:16

Just seen on FB that Sarah's dad back in hospital.....

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 06/08/2009 08:22

hi all, Dad was addmitted again yesterday chest pains again, they have kept him in and are doing a scan to see whts going on, he is ok, walking talking and playing the nurses up so not too worried, would like to just get some answers, all they keep saying is his heart rate is very slow? And E seem to think its angina so willwait and see!!!!

i will let you know what happenes ladies, xxx

Swotty- poor you walking the ground with the little guy!!!!!! Glad he has poo'd and was sleeping- how was your night?

hello to everyone else, hope everyone is ok,

(rosie has cut 4 molars this last few day- thats y she has been grumpy)lol

OP posts:
swottybetty · 06/08/2009 08:31

sarah. yes, understand how you must be v keen just to get some answers. not knowing is worst of all.

gill - esther is being well-schooled in prep for meet up. today we are mainly focussing on her latin. or at least we will be later, at present she is doing some kind of foot dance to a song on big cook little cook

alkar · 06/08/2009 11:11

Not been on MN for ages!

Sarah, ask for a CK and a troponin, they should've been done anyway but they will tell you if he's had an MI or not.

We have a swear box at home Gill 10p per swear word goes in DS money box - he's made a fortune from DH

DS has been waking in the night every other night for about a month now - I'm so tired. We think he's been having nightmares. Someone at work told me about Bachs night remedy so we tried that last night and he slept through. Will try again tonight, fingers crossed.

omy · 06/08/2009 20:23

Fox fox fox! Love it!

Very impressed with the poo Gill! I was just saying today that we should get Leila a potty as she is very aware of when she poos & wees. She gives herself a wipe with a wet wipe when I am changing her nappy - hopefully she will be wiping her own bum very soon. Unlike dyspraxic DD2 who I forbade from wiping her own bum till she was FIVE! as the poo spreading was too hard to bear!

Swotty - I am hoping your little Bob (do you call him bobaloo or bibity bobity boo?) is getting better at sleeping. I recommend the cranial osteopath for tiny ones - one session sorted Leila out brilliantly. I wonder how princesslama is doing.

Leila had a funny moment tonight just before bed time, it was like silly hour compressed into 2 minutes - she ran into the living room where DD1, DD2 and DH were watching telly and she screamed/laughed while running madly around the room. I think she was thrilled to see all the people she loved in one room...?

Sarah, I hope your dad is getting better. It must be so worrying. x

Re meeting up, it would be nice in theory, and very nice to be asked Swotty. It is just tricky with all the agendas of my family, plus I am working rather a lot in August - blah. Life is V busy, but I do prefer it that way I have to admit.

swottybetty · 06/08/2009 20:46

alkar - hope the rescue remedy works again tonight. i love that stuff but it has to be the alcholic version. a friend sent me some booze-free version meant to help you get to sleep - didnt have the same kick to it

omy my mum calls him bobity. he is mainly bobajob at the moment. i think i may give the cranial osteopathy a go. v sweet about the two minutes of madness - our kids are at such a lovely age, arent they? dh said a v insightful thing the other day. he said he was surprised by how similar to romantic love the love you feel for your kids is. its true, i am so bonkers for esther. i dont even mind bob sometimes

Gill79 · 06/08/2009 21:28

Me too, I'm in love with Malc today. I took him out to the shops this afternoon to spend my birthday money, planning on him going to sleep. Ok, he didn't, which was a tad annoying, and I spent over an hour walking and singing tommy thumb with no success, BUT he spent four hours clothes shopping with mummy, and was cheerful throughout, and then I got so many cuddles at bedtime. What an angel. (and I have some fab new jeans)

We've been having a pretty great spell of him waking up at about 8am. May explain the lack of afternoon sleep though.

Sarah - four molars! Yikes. That must have been hard work.We did two at once, with two incisors, and that was hell. Fingers crossed they can figure out what's up with your dad nice and quick.

Hope little Alkar and Bob sleep well tonight xx

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 07/08/2009 10:52

hello everyone just had a call from dad he is coming home today- yet yesterday we were told he would be in at least a week all tests are clear, they have no idea what the problem is possibly asthma now!!!!!(it seems his heart is fine- a little over worked but ok) they seem to think is respiratry[sp] so its good news for now i guess, xxxx thanks everyone for listening xxxx

Hi -- yup, one of DS1's schoolmates (another boy, shared DS's first name, actually) also died at age 5, very suddenly, had a complete fluke condition. I don't want to write more details because it's not kind to his folks if they every saw this by accident. But nobody knew he was at risk . A huge shock, big turn-out for the funeral.

That boy's mum had another baby almost exactly a year ago, a girl. I wonder if that's easier, not too much like the lad they lost. ~~~~

DC all refuse to go to bed early nowadays, sigh, LO is crawling over my arm as I write this (I'm ignoring the terrible whiff of his nappy).

Speaking of LO, he ATE SOME BANANA TODAY. May sound trivial, but it astonished me . I even had to text DH about it. LO even licked a blackberry, too. Still no luck with other fruit, of course (!).

Oh, and he waves Bye-bye and does a hand-sign for helicopters/aeroplanes (so his first words, of sorts!).

Hope scans go well and relatives continue to recuperate.

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 07/08/2009 22:25

HELLO!
long time no post. has been pretty busy at work. have just been reading catching up..... gosh lots has happened. hope you are all well.

I am now slightly more reconciled to being at work, although I still remain unconvinced about the whole full time thing (not that I have a choice, as we need my salary to help pay the mortgage).

DS is just gorgeous. Know what you mean about being in love with your kids - he is completely the light of my life. I mean DH is DH but that's different somehow.....

I am v proud mummy as DS is now starting to put 2 words together. Admittedly there are only a few 2-word combinations he actually uses (eg More + Cake, and then Uh-oh + Cake when he "accidentally" drops it on the floor) but it's very funny, we can now have actual conversations - if I ever ask him a direct question he shouts back "NO!" so as long as I ask the right questions we can have interesting debates:

me: DS, do you think that the Bank of England's decision to increase quantitative easing could be a bad sign for the economy?
DS: NO!!!!!!
me: Ah, that's reassuring. We are getting some conflicting signals about what'll be happening over the next year. I don't think house prices are going to fall any further, though, do you?
DS: NO!!!!!!!!
me: Oh, I'm glad. Would you like some cake?
DS: (starts to say NO, then realises his error and starts nodding his head as he can't actually say YES yet!)

omy · 07/08/2009 23:59

sally that was priceless! thanks for the giggle!

Gill79 · 08/08/2009 23:17

you'll have to get that on youtube Sally.

we have no no no no no no and a vigorous head-shaking for all questions (except the ones involving thomas, in the night garden and raisins)

I've spent the day sunbathing on top of a canal boat cruising around, on a friend's hen do. I only really know the hen and I was driving so none of the champers and cocktails for me and I made very little effort to be sociable, just lay on top of the boat in the sun for 7 hours watching the countryside slip by ..... very very nice way to spend the day. A few crashes along the way just to keep it interesting too!

Gill79 · 08/08/2009 23:19

PS Sally our only two-worders are "more bread" "bye bye daddy" and "bye bye poo"

Covers the essentials.

omy · 09/08/2009 08:03

poo again Gill! Feeling V proud of myself - 3 days of no BF and I haven't caved in once! It has been remarkably easy - it felt like the right time and I am feeling good about it - phew!

swottybetty · 09/08/2009 16:07

sarah - how was scan? all ok i hope? i remember bawling eyes out at 12wks with dd . v glad to hear nothing heart related for your dad.

sally that is so funny yes, you should def get that on camera. even if its only for yourselves fifteen years down the line. nice to hear from you. glad to hear you sounding ok about work. you did sound quite low a couple of months back.

omy - wd on the bf after ff'ing dd cause i hated bf i have now reached the two month mark of almost exclusive bf with ds. finding i dont hate it at all now. was just aiming to get to three months but i am half dreading the hassle of ff. also, while i am not one to join in big health scares, i am a tad nervy about swine flu so am tempted to carry on thru autumn.

speaking of which, all staff here at dh's school have been asked to submit 2 weeks work that students could do at home in case school starts later cause of flu. hurrah!! an extended summer holidays and empty site would be bliss

gill i am so envious of your seven sunny hours of solitude.

lljkk - lol at "even* licked a blackberry." dd is obsessed with blackberries. i swear she doesnt actually like the taste so much as she enjoys the fact she is allowed to eat something that came off a bush.

all quiet here. my parents have taken dd out and ds is asleep without being in sling or in arms. i have broken the rules and put him on his front - v paranoid watching his little bum go up and down.

is rozzy about? i got back to gym for first time this week and managed to do a 50min continous run. not a half marathon, obvs, but still v pleased with self
