Not quite sure how they manage it Gill - my older 2 never did - maybe because we put them in beds when they were quite little. My sil recently had to put her 19 month old ds2 into a bed because he'd started climbing out of the cot - it is very scary!! Our stairgates are ALWAYS closed these days because ds3 is such a climber!

Ds3 new word is 'teatime' - as soon as he sees me putting the food out he runs through and shouts 'teatime' to ds1 and ds2 then runs back and climbs into his high chair - what can I say he loves his food.

I've actually just thought of another reason for delaying putting ds3 into a bed - neither ds1 or ds2 had daytime naps after they were in a bed - aargh!

Gill79 · 22/07/2009 19:46

It's quiet! Is everyone ok?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 23/07/2009 13:09

hi Gill, we are ok, well all of us accept Harry=!!!he has tonsilitis again!!!!!! impotigo on his face and a condition called strawberry tongue- not really got any clue what it is but its caused by the strep bacteria!!!!he has horrid medicine (tastes foul) but is ok bless him!!!!

just hoping no body else catches anything!!!!!

saw gp tues and my bp was normal again so thats good just waiting now for mw to get in contact and a scan date to come thru!!!!

how is everyone else??

alkar · 23/07/2009 16:54

All ok here. DH is going to Latvia tonight until Tuesday so its just me and DS this weekend

rozzyraspberry · 23/07/2009 19:25

All ok here too - a tad frazzled after a shitty trying day with the boys. Ds1 used to be really silly but calmed down a lot once he went to school. But recently ds2 has become really silly and wild at times - today he was awful - and although ds1 is generally much more sensible these days he quickly lapses back when ds2 is on his high horse and giggles until he is helpless which makes ds2 even sillier!! I am glad we have 3 dc but sometimes I think it might be a lot calmer without them egging each other on. Anyway it's probably not helped by the fact that we've all been together all the time for the last 3 weeks. But school holidays are almost halfway over here and I'm back to work next week so at least a little peace for me (will just have silly men to deal with then!).

Then when schools go back I will have 2 dc at school.

How far along do you reckon you are now Sarah?

Hope you have a peaceful weekend with your ds Alkar.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 24/07/2009 09:11

hi Rozzy OMG silly boys i woul dbe frazzled too!!!!!lol one silly boy here is enough!!!!lol

Think i am about 10m weeks so should hear from mw soon, xxx

Alkar hope you and DS have a fab weekend xxxx

Ds sometimes gets silly when he's over tired, you just can't get through to hime at all. Not sure what the answer is!

Gill, Toby weighs 2st 2lbs! How about malcolm? They look very similar.

any thoughts on a mett up over the summer? haven't seen anything of egg for ages.

Hope all going well sarah

rozzyraspberry · 24/07/2009 16:39

Ginger it does tend to be worse when they're tired - I call 6-7pm 'mental hour' in our house! I can just about deal with ds3 when he's silly because he is little and cute!! 4 & 6 year olds not so cute when acting like toddlers!!

10 weeks already Sarah - that's great - not long until you'll get to see him/her!!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 26/07/2009 09:41

morning all, xxx how is everyone?

OP posts:
lljkk · 26/07/2009 11:02

I am quiet partly because I can't keep track of who is how many weeks pregnant and who is getting married or about to and who has already had another baby after their Feb08 LOs You Mad Things. Anyway, I hope it is all going well.

We now have DC3 and LO in same room which is good progress; DH is sleeping with them both to aid the transition. LO is in a cot with a small bedrail rather than a full height side. He never sleeps in there in the day, anyway, and he sleeps all night without attempted escape.

LO still not saying any recognisable words. Everything is "Dat!" or "Blat!" (or typical whining). He wants to talk. He looks very interestd when we try to get him to woof like a dog, or we ask him to point to his head, but he doesn't get how to do any of that. Otherwise his main job in life is simply looking exceedingly sweet and cute.

DS2 screeching, must dash -- bfn.

Gill79 · 26/07/2009 23:15

Ginger - yes, 2 stone 2 as well.

I would be up for a south-east meet-up again. I can do wednesdays, thursdays and fridays? Ginger presume you are looking at August whilst still in the holidays? Anyone else? I think I have email addresses for some of the others who not been on here so frequently recently so can see what the interest is.

Sarah / Egg - thank you so much for putting me onto the wiggles. The results can be seen here :-D

Anyone heard of Leesmum recently?

Hope you all had good weekends. We've been at my parents' and left Malcolm to be babysat for a day while we had a day's climbing on the south coast. Much fun was had by grandparents and grandson (not so much fun for their poor cats.....) Only downside was Malc was up about 5am for a few days. I was exhausted and ended up eating and eating and eating for some reason. Could pass for about 6 mo pg tonight.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/07/2009 09:45

glad that Malcolm likes the wiggles Gill, love his dancing!!!i would love to meet up but i live to far away!!!!!!!!boohhoo

not seen leesmum on here for ages, where is everyone going????

rozzyraspberry · 27/07/2009 13:17

Hi everyone!!

I'm back to work tomorrow after a lovely 3 weeks off. Dh dreading it too as he will be back to looking after the boys whilst I'm at work and there're still 3 weeks of school holidays left!!

2stones 2 is impressive!! I've not had ds3 weighed for ages but he will definitely be nowhere near that. In fact I think my 6 year old is only around 3 stone but I could be getting confused there - there is only a couple of lbs between him and my porky 4 year old.

Has anyone cut their lo's hair yet? I've been resisting because he twiddles with his hair whilst he's sucking his thumb to soothe himself to sleep. Even I have to admit now though that he's starting to look a bit ridiculous and ds1 is concerned that people will think he's a girl.

Ds1 and ds2 are currently weeding their vegetable patch so I'd better go and check how it's going.

gingermumi · 27/07/2009 15:10

Hi Rozzy, yes ds has had his hair cut a few times- he has loads of very thick hair. Had one nasty event at the barber when the bloke there took the clippers to him (we only wanted a trim). He looked awful and far too 'old' (he was only just one). Now my sister does it as she is training to be a hairdresser. get someone you really trust to do (if you don't do it yourself).

Gill am free any day through august, would be good to meet up again could you email the other southern ladies?

rozzyraspberry · 27/07/2009 21:26

Dh would probably do it Ginger - he did the other 2 for years - they've only just started going to the barbers. I agree it does make them look much older when they get it cut - that could be part of my reluctance to get it done since he's my last - I definitely was not so precious with the first 2 - they'd had their hair cut long before now. His hair is long but not that thick. Got ds1 to weigh himself and he is only 3 stone 2 so only a stone heavier than Toby and Malcolm and he's 6.5!!! He is quite tall now but slim like his dad.

swottybetty · 29/07/2009 13:20

hullo! sorry not been here for a while. even with dh around full time we arre struggling a bit. i had forgotten how hard this bit is. how does anyone manage without their dh's on holiday for two months?

i have only scanned the last couple of pages. apologies for not being able to catch up proper. sarah i am sorry to hear about your dad. how is he now? and how are you doing? i've been trying to do the maths, is your due date feb again?

ginger - i would be dead up for a meet up - happy to go to winchester if that suited people? has anyone done a search to see if egg been on MN at all?

bob growing fast. hard work. he wont be put down which is really wearing. well, he will sit in his chair for maybe quarter of an hour during the morning - but the rest of the time he has to be carried or cuddled. he cant get himself to sleep either - he only really sleeps in day if you take him for a long walk. i know that its only temporary - but sometimes its hard to remember that .

luckily he goes to sleep in the wee hours. i was having to sleep cuddling him, but a mate lent us a ambynest hammock three weeks ago and he goes down in that (not in day mind) - hurrah!. been BFing for almost seven weeks now. going to start to wrap it up soon, but proud how far i have got.

hello to all else. rozzy, i am in awe that you can look after three and am always surprised you sound so on top of it... are you as calm in real life?

has anyone heard from strawberry?

gill - yes, i used to wonder why parents followed toddlers round for hours. i also used to wonder why they made such a fuss of leaving the house. and why they were always going on walks. and pushing kids along on a pushalong in the park. and why everyone i knew with kids had a grumpy hard edge to them....

i am now going to be hugely boastful and list just a selection of the words dd can say. all of the following she can say in context and recognisable.... cupboard, lid, phone, goat, house, plane, hot, hello, bye, night, nice, piggy, dog, dad, mum, nana, jamie, makka pakka , coffee, tea, cup, spoon, toast, cheese, nose, toes, boot, feet, shoe, sock, hurt, bump, head, hat, tummy, finger, hand, up, please, bob, baby, book, no, fox, sticks, steps, stone, monkey, hoobs, teddy, cuddle, chester (her toy tiger), esther, walk, farm, flag, keys, poo, stinky, frog, snap (as in a crocodile is very....) tv, down, tick-tok

genius non?? i just called dh in to make sure i hadnt missed any out and he asked whether everyone else was writing lists of what their lo's are saying...

swottybetty · 29/07/2009 19:21

malcom's got some moves gill

ach, i think i am a bit depressed. its so bleedin' relentless isnt it? also i just feel like i have aged a billion years in the last seven weeks.

on a very dull note, i have been having vast amounts of dentistry. all been free cause of having bob but have been paying for the fillings to be white. today they were finishing the second root canal i have had in as many weeks and my tooth cracked and now i will have to have a crown. it would cost £450 to get a tooth coloured one and i feel so low that we cant do it. so silly, but what with the new baby all round looking roughness having metal in mouth is making me feel i will never get back to my old self. moan over.

sorry for rambling on after prolonged absence - off to check out wiggles site. anyone else into yo gabba gabba?

rozzyraspberry · 29/07/2009 20:48

God swotty I am definitely not calm all the time. I am fairly laid back and don't get stressed too easily usually but ds2 has really been pushing it recently. I'm turning into a horrible 'shouty' mummy. I think they are getting bored after 4 weeks holidays but only 3 weeks to go now - it's terrible but I can't wait for schools to go back.

Ds3 was like Bob swotty so I know how difficult it is and really feel for you. Just couldn't put him down and he really wasn't even happy in the buggy - spent a lot of time with him in the baby carrier with him sucking my thumb - it really grounds you down. You're right it is temporary - on the positive side your dd is very smart.

We had some really bad news yesterday. A little boy who was at school with ds1 died on Monday - he was only 5. They were at an outdoor play place and his heart just stopped - it is so sad and I feel so sorry for his poor family.

Gill79 · 29/07/2009 20:49

Oh dear Swotty. I'm sure you're doing marvellously. You're clearly not neglecting Esther anyway - she must be getting a rigorous schooling. Am (in a good way) with those words. And very Especially with makka pakka.

Good to hear Bob is coming in useful in supporting your dentistry. Bad luck about the metal. You don't need things that make you feel worse about yourself at the moment do you? If it makes you feel better about the treatment, today a doctor pushed a wire with a camera on the end 12" into my nose. God knows where the other end was. It didn't hurt but it was a horrible experience! There's no exciting or alarming news - the reason I can't breathe very well through my nose is it's a funny shape.

Bob sounds like a (literal) handful. Can't be long till he'll be sitting up and a bit more independent though? And hopefully Esther will be her bit by being facinating. Had a bit of a clingy day here so you've got my sympathy!

Right - off to a) check out yo gabba gabba and b) try and round up some of the absentee potential southern meet-up-ers. Swotty I can come to your station and help you for the journey (wherever it is) if you like.

Gill79 · 29/07/2009 20:57

Rozzy that's awful. Bloody hell. How scary.....

omy · 29/07/2009 22:30

Well I just read 9 pages! what a catch-up! So nice to read everyone's news!

Swotty - congratulations on Bob! what a joy - and I am so impressed with your home birth! And Esther's word count is truly awesome! We have only a few words here and they are quite hard to make out!

Sarah!!! Remind me again why you had the implant out?! congratulations! You are obviously a born mum.

Gill - I love your videos of Malc - I will try to put one on you tube of Leila - she is a good dancer! The wiggles are brilliant - we love 'fruit salad'. We had a poo in the cot incident around the same time you did - but I left her crying for about half an hour before I went in - she can't say the word poo or I would have gone in sooner!

Strawb - I hope your little one is well and your work is less intense!

Egg - so nice to see you back and chatting!

Miss Nat - how exciting to be going to Australia! You'll love it! I grew up there.

Welcome elliepac. I am a teacher too - hence the silence for the mad end of year time! I am only just feeling normal again - planning next year already!

Leila's food habits are amusing - she won't eat if she suspects you are too keen on her eating something (like veg) - or if she has something different from you. you have to act all nonchalant - and she will try anything off my plate! as a result she loves dorset muesli!

I am worried that she will climb out of her cot soon though - it is quite a small cot - I noticed that she is nearly the length of it! She is obsessed about cleaning her teeth at the moment and I am trying to stop her eating too much toothpaste! I think I will buy a fluoride free one for her as she does love to eat it and my older girl did too and ended up with white spots on her teeth from too much fluoride. Still only 4 teeth but 2 more top ones coming through right now!

Egg · 30/07/2009 13:21

Hello hello just wanting to check in and say all is ok here just mad busy and nursery closed for summer (except for the one they go to on Mondays) so no time on PC. For once all of mine are asleep at same time (DS1 rarely sleeps in day hence no time on MN except for short posts on random dull threads and not here...).

Firstly I would like to reiterate. I LOVE THE WIGGLES. Gill that vid of Malcolm is so fab, especially as I know all the moves to the dance so I know what he is doing! DS1 loves that one best but DS2 (who is a recent convert and now obsessed) loves Hot Potato best and has learnt to sing the theme tune to The Wiggles (with da da da instead of words...) and point at the tv whenever he wants to watch it (which is about 80% of the day). He can't do the actions mind you... nor can either DT say many/any words......................... Hey ho, they are cute though! I put loads of new pics on my FB profile for anyone who knows me on there.

Sarah any news of your dad? I am presuming he is doing ok as you haven't said, but really hope he has made a good recovery.

Rozzy my heart sank when I saw your post about the little boy. So sad. And I am sure it was another of our regulars on here (Slacker or lljkk I think) who's DS also had a shool friend die suddenly recently . How horrific.

Swotty I can well remember how hideous those first few weeks are. We were talking about it the other day (DH and I). Just the endless feeds and barely daring to leave home and having to carry them round or push them round to get some peace (but with obviously no rest for yourself whilst doing it). A local friend has a 14 month gap between DC2 and DC3 and is now pregnant again with DC4! She did leave it a bit longer this time mind you.

I really would love to do a meet up. Even better if everyone was willing to come here but am happy to travel to somewhere midway as we finally have our new car and can travel more happily as can actually fit us all in with a double buggy and all other crap necessities. It is my bday tomorrow and am off to meet my parents and sis and family at Claremont Gardens in Surrey (think it is Esher). Will be first longish trip in car (only had it a week tomorrow).

Anyway, I can do most days in August except Mondays as all DC at nursery. Would not choose a Tuesday as mine are all at their grumpiest on a Tuesday but otherwise think we are pretty free.

Sarah hope you are feeling ok and get your scan date due soon. Your poor DS I looked up Impetigo on Google as my DS1 has a nasty red patch of skin on chin and wanted to see if that's what it was. Think my DS1's is from his wet stinky blankie as it is not quite as nasty as the Impetigo pics I saw!

Have not seen leesmum around for ages. Hope she is ok and just enjoying being married!

Also wonder how Strawberry is. I think she was off on hols but can't remember how long ago. Hope her DS is doing ok.

Omy lovely to see you back! DS1 is also a mad toothbrusher. He tries to do them countless times in a day and as he can now reach the bathroom basin he just goes up and does it. I limit him to about 4 times a day! The DTs love to do theirs but hate me doing them (they are not v efficient on their own).

Ginger and Gill, DS2 was weighed about 3 weeks ago and he was 26lbs so 4lbs lighter and he is a big lad (I think). I think though that both your boys are taller and my DS2 is just very chunky! His legs are like tree trunks. Must weigh DD, she is still weeny and so adorable because of her weenyness!

Must post this, sorry so loooong.

gingermumi · 30/07/2009 19:34

would love to meet up, winchester is good for me, if that's ok with the others. haven't seen bean anywhere. When do you think we could do this? It would be lovely to see how they're all doing

swottybetty · 30/07/2009 21:51

hello egg and omy [big fat wave]

omy i am very impressed that you read 9 pages back. i get slightly overwhelmed and have to let myself off hook or i would never post! dd is fanatical about eating museli out of our bowls too. dh leaves his bowls in sitting room and you come in a find dd licking them clean. bad parenting i know - but i figure there's worse to come . she loves toothpaste and sucking her toothbrush but hates the actual act of brushing.

egg - tis funny but bizarrley i can't actually remember the early days with dd. i remember they were bad but i dont rememeber they were as tough as this. i had forgotten how ritualistic you can become. it's all like "well, yesterday we finished our walk at 6.30pm, ate at 7pm, dressed him without a vest and he only screamed for 30min before sleeping for 6 hrs, now, if we can just repeat all that exactly, maybe tonight will be ok too." i am slightly thrown by fact you have a day of week when your dc are grumpy. how is that?? happy b day for tomo.

winchester sounds fine to me. any day. v sorry to all non southerners who might be interested. you know when you next down south we could prob be harrassed into a special meet up . omy, would you be up for it?

rozzy that is awful about the little boy, his poor parents.

gill your email reads like you have a 12 inch nose

Gill79 · 30/07/2009 23:09

No I just appear to have 12" nostrils.

Winchester sounds good to me too if that's ok with Egg. We could do it like last time and plan for the park if weather looking ok? Whatever suits. AM going to do the email now so we can discuss it offline and stop boring everyone else!

(is there anyone else in the south who's interested?)

Today we went to the library at 9am and played with their lovely wooden kitchen for an hour. Then the park for an hour. Then swimming - for an hour. Then a lovely big lunch and tucked up in the buggy with a bottle of milk for a walk over to the climbing wall by which point Malc would of course be fast asleep and let me climb. How did he not fall asleep? I tried very very hard for 40 minutes and at one point he even shut his eyes for a couple of seconds. I'm sure he stayed awake on purpose cause he wanted to run around and play at the climbing centre. Grr.
