Well done on the run Swotty. Do you mean this is the first post-Bob run? 50 minutes? That's amazing. I'm still ramping up the running after Malcolm was born, and still haven't got to 50 minutes!

Also well done on the BF, keep going I say. can't remember -was DD exclusively FF? Whatever the other reasons pro BF there might be it's just so much less hassle! The immunity thing is a real factor as well; it was really noticeable how Malc started getting bugs when I gave up.

Omy - well done you too! Are you the last Feb BFer? We finished with formula this week as we were still having it for bedtime drink. Felt pretty momentous actually!

Hello everyone

Sorry for being away for so long. I've been struggling with DS being ill etc and didn't want to post messages that were all about negative things.

We got his results back on Thursday and he doesn't have cystic fibrosis. I am so happy and relieved, its like a whole new start for us. I'd spent months constantly worrying about him and what his life was going to hold and suddenly I wake up and remember the good news and almost bounce out of bed.

DS is actually really really well at the moment. His weight is over the 9th centile for the first time since June 08 which was when his allergies first started to become apparent. He's completely outgrown his milk and egg allergies and today he drank cows milk for the first time.

In fact, he's actually quite a monster!!! He never stops, running, shouting, climbing, and he is just so cheeky. I want to tell him off but its hard because he just makes me laugh! I took him to the supermarket today and he shouted "mummyyyyy" at the top of his voice the whole way round, only pausing to say "bananas" the whole time we were in the fruit aisle!! An old lady stopped us and said, "you certainly have a pair of lungs on you, and you looked so angelic when I saw you come in!!!" He went all shy and wouldn't say anything to her, and then when I walked away, he shouted "byeeee" at the very top of his voice. Everyone in the aisle started laughing at him

Anyway, that's all for now. I will try to read back to catch up, and will definitely be back on here going forward. I hope you're all well. I've missed you all.

strawberrycornetto · 09/08/2009 22:19

PS, have just uploaded a new picture of my little angelic demon. Don't be fooled by the blond hair and blue eyes, he's definitely a monster

swottybetty · 09/08/2009 23:12

strawb it is lovely to hear from you. we have all been thinking of you and your family. so glad to hear all ok

swottybetty · 09/08/2009 23:15

ps gill - yes, was first run since found out i was preg with bob ten months ago. you run outside tho dont you? much harder than treadmill.

alkar · 10/08/2009 08:46

He does look angelic strawberry and he has loads of hair, my DS still doesn't have much!

Took DS to the seaside for the first time this weekend, he loved it. We went to stay with our friends but DS wouldn't sleep in his travel cot so he ended up in bed with me and DH slept downstairs

Hope everyone else had a good weekend. We are off to rhyme time now then swimming aafter that all for 20p!!!

omy · 10/08/2009 20:30

Swotty! 50 minute run! I am jealous of your fitness. I did 10 mins on the cross trainer and had to stop (mostly out of boredom - but def couldn't run!) It is great that you are finding BF easier this time - it is so convenient - which suits my lazy gene!

Gill - I am sure Slacker will still be BF - I remember her saying she found it invaluable for the toddler stage. I think Leila is having way too much formula - 3 bottles a day - oops - no wonder she is getting porky! I use Holle formula - it is really nice, and whenever I try to give her normal milk she doesn't drink it. I will cut down straight away!

Strawb - how positive you sound and how funny your LO is! Wonderful.

I was at work today and Leila had 2 new bruises when I got home - makes me feel guilty that I wasn't there to watch her like a hawk - though of course she gets plenty of bruises when I look after her, so it is irrational working mummy guilt. I will be away most of this week and my lovely baby sitter is on holiday so she has the more haphazard care from sisters and dad. She is well familiar with the arnica bottle! She had a new word when I got home - 'Leila!' - she still can't say her sister's names - but it will be any day now!

lljkk · 11/08/2009 05:12

crikey, I am stunned at how many words your LOs are saying. I know my LOs are always late talkers, and there's nought I can do to speed it up (at this age), but it really brings home to me How Late my lot are. The others were all saying something by this age, but only just barely.

Ho hum, it's almost turned into a funny game. How Late Will DC4 be with his first word? DH notoriously barely said anything before he was 3. LO is very expressive, anyway, we often know from his tone what he means to communicate.

Obsessed with aeroplanes and helicopters, which we see a lot of.

Bessie123 · 12/08/2009 11:04

lljkk - I think girls tend to talk much earlier than boys. My dd has just started talking in short sentences but none of her little friends who are boys are doing that. But they are more developed than her in other ways, for example, one little boy is more able to relate to people on a social/emotional level, another little boy can sing in tune and dance properly (not just swaying) etc etc.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 12/08/2009 12:48

hi all scan day today and cant wait!!!!

i feel really exctited today, however i am exhauseted as i had a really hard night at work, (i am a housekeeper at my local hospital 6pm til 9pm) my supervisior decided she wanted the outpatients dept deep cleaned- beds, walls, doors, floors, skirtings ceilings, (remove any cobwebs) light switches wiped, basically everything, i was to do the biggest clinic on my own 11 rooms corridor and waiting area!!!!!- needless to say it was way too much and today my back and tummy are really sore,

all this as there is a huge audit on there today and it has only had basic cleans for a few weeks due to staff shortgages!!!! (why do they leave everything to the last minute and expect the staff to get it all done in one shift!!!!!?)

(i would like to mention i did say to her i dont think its a good idea for me on my won as i thought it would be too much and her reply was your pg not ill!!!!!)

sorry huge rant, better now i am having an easy day today and hve this eve booked off as my scan is not til half 4!!!!!

hope everyone is ok!!!

strawberrycornetto · 12/08/2009 20:50

Glad the scan went well Sarah, you must be so excited.

Swotty, can't believe you did a 50 minute run. That makes me feel terribly guilty, I haven't really managed to exercise at all since I had DS. I just don't have time but it is getting me down and I know I should make time.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 12/08/2009 21:31

just a quick hello, hope everyone ok. Glad scan went well sarah

omy · 13/08/2009 19:52

Oh so sweet of harry, Sarah! Great news that the scan went well.

Hi Ginger! How's Toby?

gingermumi · 14/08/2009 19:13

Hi omy, toby's fine, enormous and chatty (fluent penguin mostly!). can't beleive they're all growing up so fast!

rozzyraspberry · 14/08/2009 20:44

Hi all.

Have been trying to keep up but with work and the kids still being off school its been a bit manic!!

We're all well though. Ds3 is turning into a little wild, noisy little boy - was always going to happen with 2 big brothers to copy/worship! Think he speaks the same language as Toby Ginger. He does copy a lot of words we say but doesn't say too much spontaneously iykwim. He does do a lot of pointing and 'look at that' though which is quite cute.

Ds2 starts school next week I he is very excited. He has a week and a half settling in period where he will only be in for mornings then he and ds1 will be out at school from 9am to 3.15pm!! Will be very quiet - especially after 7 noisy weeks of all 3 being here. Will make things a bit easier though although I think ds3 will really miss his brothers to play with. He's starting a gymnastics thing next week though and I have his name down for a parent and child swimming class - it'll be nice to be able to do things like this with him now.

Well done on your run Swotty - if you can do that on your first post Bob run you'll be running half marathons in no time!! I hope things are settling down for you now that Bob is getting older. Well done on the bf - it is an easy option particularly when you have other lo's to deal with - god knows where I would have found the time to deal with formula with ds3. He never would take a bottle when I stopped at 11 months though so it was quite a struggle trying to get enough calcium into him initially.

I'm so relieved for you Strawberry - that must be such a big weight off your mind that your very gorgeous (lovely pics!) boy is fine. I'm not surprised you don't have time to exercise with ft job and with everything thats been going on - don't beat yourself up about it - I'm sure you get more exercise than you think running about doing stuff all the time.

Congrats on the scan Sarah - must be feeling really real and exciting now. I have to say that we wished we hadn't told ds1 and ds2 that I was pregnant so soon (told him at 12 weeks) because 6 months was a long time for them (and us with them always asking when the baby was coming).

Anyway sorry for long post. Hello to everyone!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 15/08/2009 13:49

Hi Rozzy lovely to hear from you xxx Glad to hear your all well,

we have another 3 weeks till Harry starts full time school and like your DS2 has a settling in period of half days, i must say he is very excited!!!!! and so am i!!!!!lol

Glad the scan went well sarah x

DH is out for the night tonight so its just me and DS. Hoping to go to the safari park together in the morning though.

Has anyone got a bike with a child seat? I am thinking of getting one but am totally clueless!

elliepac · 17/08/2009 07:23

Hi all.

Have been on holiday for the last two weeks in pembrokeshire so have just tried to catch up but haven't had time to read it all!

Glad to hear your scan went well sarah.

Strawberry, good to hear your news as well, I am sure that is such a huge relief.

DD was a nightmare on holiday. I suspect she really didn't like the change of scenery. It was tantrum city, behaving in a way I had never seen her behave before. At one point she was rolling around on the floor screaming for almost 2 hours. I got so worked up, I was convinced she was in pain so ended up ringing the local doctor where i was staying and getting an emergency appointment. Obviously by the time I got there she was fine and made me look like a complete idiot and it was then that I realised that it had just been a monstrous tantrum . She's also gone off bread completely, won't touch the stuff unless it's toast, am going to start having to use my imagination more with lunches instead of the standard ham sandwich because all she does is pick the ham out!

AM very jealous of some your LO's and their talking. We have very few discernible words here. We can make ourselves understood perfectly well through grunting and pointing so who needs words!

DS's 6th birthday on Saturday. AM still racking my brains to try and think of something to get him.

Can't believe summer holidays are going so quickly and seriously having to consider getting down to some work.....tomorrow .

Egg · 17/08/2009 10:37

Ellie I called an ambulance when DS1 had his first major roll-on-floor tantrum. He was screaming non stop, nothing would stop him, seemed to scream more if I took him near light, was rolling his eyes etc etc. I called HV who could hear him in background, and I described what he was doing (he had just got out of bed after nap when it started, and nothing had "happened" to trigger it, like taking something away from him etc), HV told me to call ambulance, I remember shouting "I think I'm losing him" as he seemed to look like he was losing consciousness despite still yelling .

He was of course fine...

elliepac · 18/08/2009 07:11

egg, we'd have been at a and e if the nearest one wasn't 45 mins drive away

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 18/08/2009 18:15
