Going sorry, I've kept meaning to post about your glandular fever. How crap for you. How are you feeling and how on earth can you rest and recover with 3 children to look after?

AH sorry about your job stresses.

Whinegums sorry about your job worries, too.

Thea is STILL asleep. She was up a bit in the night and DS1 and I have colds, so maybe she needs a bit of extra sleep. I do like not having to rush in the morning and we're still in our PJs.

Essie love the brushing of testicles!

Thea can now walk pushing her walker. She is so proud of herself and looks around for approval and cheers whenever she does it. She can't stand unaided but I reckon she soon will.

Quick one for Amber, we had the same problem with the amount of bottles that DS had and on advice of dietician this is what we have done.

He has a 5oz bottle of milk when he wakes up, ideally she says that this should be after breakfast but before is OK, he then has breakfast at nursery and we have stopped the mid morning bottle as he does get a snack mid morning, he then has lunch and a 5 oz bottle an hour after that, then tea about 4.30, we did do a 5oz bottle after that but dropped it pretty quickly and he gets a 9oz at bed time and he gets another 5oz when we go to bed as he is a light sleeper and still in with us, so we have managed to drop the amount of milk, basically the idea is to give a small milk feed 30mins to an hour after a meal and then a bedtime feed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks five. I suggested to nursery that they give him milk in a cup instead of a bottle as he only really likes milk in a bottle - probably more the sucking thing than the milk.

By the way, went to see a paediatric allergy specialist today and it turns out Luke's constant runny nose, cough and ithcy eyes, nose and ears are all linked to large adenoids which he has inherited from his dad. Apparently they shrink as they get older but we'll have to put up with it for now. He also does have eczema, mild food intolerences and common allergies but we can give him antihistemines for that. Neenz He said Medised was a wonderful drug and that we should lie about Luke's age and stock up!

He said I should keep Luke on formula and not cow's milk as the heat treating in the formula means that it won't make his symptoms worse (cow's milk makes babies more mucusy). I asked him why people had to go onto cows milk as a baby's main drink and he said they don't and in his professional opinion, children should stay on formula forever as it's much better for them than milk is. It's only the cost which drives people to chanage to cow's milk. That's fair enough - formula is expensive!

babybillandsplodge · 27/05/2009 16:50

AKAIK babies don't need to drink any kind of milk past a year (in fact I know babies who don't)- as long as it's replaced with some form of calcium they're fine.

I couldn't stand milk as a drink and still can't, disgusting stuff , but I like yoghurt, etc, so mum just gave me that instead.

abdnhiker · 27/05/2009 17:39

bill vitamins are no big deal, F likes the taste. The only problem is that they're bright orange and do stain pjs slightly.

amber I think the main reason to switch to cow's milk is formula tastes yucky to me! But cost is a big one too.

DS1 is milk intolerant but can have yoghurt and cheese and it's honestly really hard to make sure he would get enough calcium without his prescription milk! And he's almost three.

babybillandsplodge · 27/05/2009 17:50

AH, thats interesting - so even with milk on cereal, cheese, yoghurt, etc, you think that wouldn't be enough? Happy to let A drink milk as long as he wants, I just know some babies go off it (and quite right too!).

abdnhiker · 27/05/2009 17:59

bill we didn't have the milk on cereal option which would add quite a bit!

babybillandsplodge · 27/05/2009 18:01

Doh, sorry, being thick!

whinegums · 27/05/2009 19:51

Hello all, just a quick ME ME ME post - I appear to have won a holiday. To the Maldives!!!!! I'm waiting for DP to get home and open the letter, as I'm still at my mum's. He won't get home til 10 tonight - arghhh! The PR company dealing with it called me today wondering why I hadn't been in touch.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/05/2009 19:52

I will trade you a ferry ticket to Ireland

PenguinProject · 27/05/2009 20:00

Hello - can I come back? Notebook now working again so I will do my best to keep up.

Only caught up on today's posts and was completely confused as to who BabyBill was at first.

Hope everyone is well and babies are sleeping as I type.

PenguinProject · 27/05/2009 20:00

Congrats Whinegums you lucky, lucky thing!

pureeandpearls · 27/05/2009 20:06

Congrats to Whinegums.....what a lucky lucky girl you are!

Hello PP (((hugs))) don't need to come back as you never left!!

babybillandsplodge · 27/05/2009 20:17

whinegums, what fab news - when are you going? Is it for the whole family or do you get a break on your own?!

PP, lovely to see you hear - really sorry our meet up didn't happen on Monday .

Hasn't the weather been great today?!

libralady · 27/05/2009 20:23

I'm still lurking too. Have a bit more time this week as on leave for 1/2 term. Hoping to meet up with 5 tomorrow.
Amber sorry for everything that has happened. Have only just caught up with what's been happening.

Amberc · 27/05/2009 20:29

So Whinegums - how did you win it then??? And have I ever mentioned how much I like you and how I've lways wnted to go to the maldives?

Hi PP!

I start my new part time job next week hurrah!!!! I have already booked a hair appointment and I am going to join the gym. Baby making plans are put on hold while I have my thyroid issues so I am going to try and lose a little weight if I can.

Re milk - I am another one who thinks cow's milk as a drink is bleugh. As I mentioned before I could easily down a pint of Hipp Organic Growing Up milk though!

Has anyone joined twitter? I am curious to read celebrities posts!

Amberc · 27/05/2009 20:31

Hi Libra - thanks and nice to see you

pureeandpearls · 27/05/2009 20:36

Next week?!!! Brilliant....when are you free????

London ladies- must arrange meet up.

LLovely to see you LL

PS- Christening photos have arrived. Uploading to FB now. Will post link. Can I have a PFB badge???

babybillandsplodge · 27/05/2009 20:58

Hi libra - have a nice day tomorrow, the weather is supposed to be fab .

Amber, what days are you going to be working?

P&P, with 5 cakes for your LO's first birthday, we bow to your PFB-ness!

PenguinProject · 27/05/2009 20:59

I don't stand the taste of FF, but not keen on cows milk either. I like the fact that cows milk lasts much longer than made up formula so we may switch if Ry will tolerate it. Still on approx 3 bottles a day here, cups are fun, but that's all for now. Gotta work on that...

London Ladies - I can do Fridays! But I can't do the tube so will have to be within walking distance of Waterloo or Wimbledon for me. What are your new PT days Amber?

Hi Libra.

I'm on Twitter as AlixSW19. I just end up being offended by a RL friends posts though so would love others to join (recent one-"I can't stand babies. So sue me."). She's part of a tech start up in London and is trying to make a name for herself... Hedgehog was on Twitter for a while, is she still around on here?

babybillandsplodge · 27/05/2009 21:04

x-posted PP! HH hasn't been on here for ages - I see her occasionally on FB but I think she's pretty busy with f/t work etc and doesn't get much time to get on there either. Mind you she still finds time to knit which I haven't done for months!

I have avoided Twitter - don't think I can commit time to anything else! Your RL friend is an idiot btw!!

pureeandpearls · 27/05/2009 21:13

PFB moment here

Fridays are good, as is Waterloo/Wimbledon. Can someone (Sponge?) email as mine is down at the mo and have no access to addresses!

poppy34 · 27/05/2009 21:22

Can't see rest of posts on iphone so will try post after the apprentice

pureeandpearls · 27/05/2009 21:33

Why then we shall have to have two-meets Poppy!

libralady · 27/05/2009 21:41
