Evening all.
Have been lurking on and off this evening, so cant actually remember all the posts or who said what. I'm reviewing our annual insurances and it's such a dull, time consuming task... I seem to recall spending an eternity doing it last year in between MNetting when I started my maternity leave A lifetime ago (quite literally!).
Right, on the formula at age 1+. I hope I dont offend anyone, but I'm firmly in the cynical camp and strongly suspect that formula designed for the age 1+ group is all about milk companies making money on the back of parents natural anxieties about wanting to make sure their children get the very best start. The companies aren't allowed to market milk that is used for under 6 months and I believe that's why they do all the stage 2, age 1 + type milks. As a result of this cynicism, S is still on stage 1 milk (quite happily) and we'll be trying to get him onto cows milk as soon as he lets us (watch me, he'll probably still be glugging the stuff back at age 3 ).
With regards to vitamins - I personally am not convinced. I thought the the jury was out among the 'experts' with regards to vitamin supplements full stop? I haven't read much, but I thought that there were pretty much opposing camps on the matter, particuarly whether they are actually absorbed, make a difference etc (for people of all ages).
I'll qualify all of that though and point out that I obviously recognise that there are particular circumstances when different milk, vitamins etc will be recommended e.g. allergies, health problems etc.
Anyway, I'll get off my soap box and reiterate that its just a personal opinion. Then I'm off to pack for the Maldives for my holiday with my pal whinegums. Whaddya mean, you're not taking me?!?!?!?
So yesterday, we thought we'd make the first attempt at weaning off the mid-afternoon feed. We gave him some milk in a cup (took about 1oz) then filled him up with a nice calcium busting yoghurt. GAve him his milk... he guzzled it down! [sigh]. I was heartened to hear whoever said their LO increased the water they drank when the milk feed dropped. My really big concern about trying to wean off the mid-afternoon feed is de-hydration as S drinks so little water from his cup. He can drink from a cup, but he just doesn't bother with it too much.
Am now off to look at puree photos and admire bunting.
whinegums - do you still see katyjo? Does she still MN?
- I've hardly been around lately either!
