im going to london zoo today on a field trip!!! no clue how I'm going to express or where to find an electrical socket in a private place there... we will be gone 6 hours... never been away that long from Q or the pump! If I get round 5 mastitis I'm going to be so . None of the other teachers on my grade really get it - not had babies (well, one does, but her baby is 23). ugh.

star6 · 06/05/2009 05:29

heather I speak from experience... it's not so bad
Of course, I thank my lucky stars that I also had a lovely class of 18 5-7 year olds eagerly awaiting my return, which was a huge comfort.

Jojay · 06/05/2009 08:43

Hi all, i find it really ahrd to keep up with you guys esp when Dh is off work like yesterday, he always glares at me when I'm on MN for longer than he thinks acceptable

So apologies for not acknowledging everyone, but glad the weaning seems to be going well ofr everyone.

Rachie, Heather and other BLW ers, why not join us on this thread? I thought it would be a good place to share ideas without them getting lost in the enormity of this thread!

Ed has had some banana and mango for breakfast. He wasn't overly keen but breakfast isn't his best meal of the day. He had lots of different veggies for super last night, nad some pasta and bolognase sauce too, though how much went in I'm not sure. We'll have to wait for the nappy!

Went to clinic yesterday, he was 17lb 13 oz, just above 50th centile so all fine there. HV was very supportive about BLW so we'll carry on for now.

Hope you all have a good day - I love Wednesdays as DS1 goes to the childminder and Ed and I hang out. We're off to meet a coleague for lunch in Stratford on Avon, to catch up on work gossip, so that should be fun.

Ta-ra for now

Lozza70 · 06/05/2009 10:46

We were not brave enough to try BLW here so it was puree to start but Sander is eating quite chunky foods and finger foods now. Fish pie seems to be a favourite though.

Poor wee boy is suffering from the cold at the moment which lead to a disturbed night last night, serves me right for blowing about getting a whole week of sleeping through He has been down for nearly 2 hours so far for his morning nap though. No coffee morning for us though today so we don't spread the lurgy to any other babies!

I've posted some new photos.

jenwa · 06/05/2009 10:52

Ok did you all see that CSWS just told me off good and proper! I am surprised you never called me by my full name there, it would have made it more serious I prefer BLW as its shorter to write

HM haha, you made me chuckle re my DH, did think he would be mortified if he knew and met you all ! He is stinky though

heather I am due back in july so not long too, although am refussing to count the weeks left am hoping DH gets on well and I can be a SAHM

star hope today goes well and you manage to express some milk, hopefully there will be somewhere for you to do it and I really hope you do not get mastitis again.

jenwa · 06/05/2009 10:55

lozza lovely pics He is a cutie. Hope he gets better soon.

Now look here Jennifer...

CSWS - Out of curiosity, what do you do for D's breakfast? I am currently doing a mix of occasional purees and finger foods but want to move over to proper BLW once DH is home (to help with cooking/cleaning up). Breakfast is the one thing that I'm a bit about. I am planning to avoid eggs for the first couple of months as ds was allergic for the first year and it wasn't nice.

Marthasmama · 06/05/2009 14:06

Myjob - I am still very tired as M is really suffering with her teeth. I am convinced that her teeth are the reason she has been so unsettled. She is waking up really grumpy which is unusual for her, poor old mummy little lass. How's the continuous cold today?

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/05/2009 14:30

He's not majorly into breakfast as yet - still too much milk in the night I expect, but we have offered each of:
Raisin wheats with milk
Dry puffed wheat
Mini oatibix with milk (v messy and they do contain some sugar/crap, so only offered once so far)
Pancakes (but obv have egg in)
Fruit/cinammon toast
Eggy bread (err, contains egg )
porridge (on a spoon which he grabs, but he didn't seem to like it)
fruit (bananas, blueberries, apricots)
muffin
waffles

He is a big fan of blueberries at the moment, and will eat them whilst turning up his nose at other stuff.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 06/05/2009 14:36

Muffin? English muffin? I don't think I'd have any trouble getting cake in her !!! You can make pancakes without eggs, not as nice but it is doable. Hmm.... M isn't a big breakfaster either but she seems to be up for it when DS is having his breakfast. Blueberries? Do you cut them up? M's pincer grasp is not quite there so she wouldn't be ready for whole blueberries. Do you just let him get on with the cereal with his hands?

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/05/2009 14:41

muffins the kind that you toast, not cake .
Blueberries whole.
Cereal with hands, yes. I soak in milk first, then just put a couple at a time on his high chair tray.
Would M be able to get her mouth to the bloom tray to scoop stuff into it? This is a technique which D uses for difficult to pick up stuff (like his chilli and rice).

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 06/05/2009 14:45

Yes she would. Heh heh heh.....She can just watch her father for tips! The Bloom tray is quite high so I have mainly been using the Bumbo plus tray but for scooping, the Bloom will be better. I've seen D on FB doing the scooping.

Marthasmama · 06/05/2009 16:40

M is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO grumpy today. She just wants to feed and feed and feed. She also seems really tired but is too whiny to go to sleep. She isn't hot so I am guessing it's just teeth. She has been chewing EVERYTHING that goes near her mouth, but nothing unusual there. I'm going to have to be super calm mummy....

aubergenie · 06/05/2009 17:32

Just popping in to mark my place. Hope everyone's having a good day. Back later!

Honeymoonmummy · 06/05/2009 17:58

Hey all. Poppy's first night in the nursery went UNBELIEVABLY well, she slept 9 hours straight!! I however didn't - need to get used to DH's snoring again

We got back from Manchester an hour ago, the sweet potato went down well again. My laptop has 8 viruses apparently! My fault for using the internet without connecting to the network first, but I don't want them all reading my MN postings!!! I'll have to buy a cheap personal laptop I think cos the desktop is too much faff...anyone bought one recently?

pepperrabbit · 06/05/2009 18:19

well done Poppy!
you know, i've just not got into the whole weaning thing this time
I buy stuff and then don't puree it, she's on one meal a day at teatime and is developing an expensive taste forPlum baby foods - which was a guilt buy...
really need to get a grip on it - she'll be 29 weeks this fri, and i read your stories of 2-course/ 3 meals a day with awe and envy!

Marthasmama · 06/05/2009 18:54

pepper - I use Plum at the end of the week when the veggies have gone off run out.

star6 · 06/05/2009 19:19

Q drank 2 oz of expressed breast milk while I was away today
He's feeding a lot in the night He's not getting enough I dont think

jenwa · 06/05/2009 19:20

Thats more like it CSWS feel proper told off now

Glad Poppy had a good night HM shame you never though Men, they stink and snore

I use jars sometimes aswel so a mix here of Jars, puree meals and blw FINGER FOODS!!

star6 · 06/05/2009 19:21
