csws hope you had a good night in the end?

Phoebe was awake last night so she came down for a bit as she was so bunged up. She went back to sleep and was fine in the night, just snuffly.

Cant believe its raining today got to go to the post office later to send some clothes I ebayed.

heather I would put the clothes in the clothes bin as then at least you wont feel too bad about getting rid of it and someone will get to wear it. Shame it was not at all very nice. I would be embarrased to sell stuff like that. IS there anything worth keeping?

KSal · 27/04/2009 08:43

Emma was up 3.20 to 5.40 this morning crying and latterly screaming (I am assuming its the second tooth). then i was up at 6 to come into work. really starting to see how lucky i have been with her sleeping!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2009 08:54

Awww poor thing ksal. Have you tried her with nurofen? That always seemed to be the best thing for teeth with dd.

Well after he finally went off we had 2 more wakes for food, but he then slept 4:30 until nearly 8, which would have been great had dh and dd not got up at 5:30 (dh misread his watch and thought it was 6:30), and then dd come and disturbed me roughly every 20 mins from then on. Dh stayed up til nearly 1am, so he will be a bit tired today too!

Have managed to get doctor's appointments for us all this morning. I told them that a double slot would be plenty for the 3 of us.

Jojay · 27/04/2009 08:54

Oh dear - sorry for those of you who had arough night. We had a pretty good one by our standards - he fed at 10 pm then at 2 am, then slept till 6.45 am. Hurray!

aubergenie · 27/04/2009 09:48

Morning! S slept from 8 till 11.30, then woke every 2 hours till 4, then every hour. Which was rather annoying. I did manage to get a couple of hours sleep in the afternoon though. Makes all the difference.

CSWS - Ouch. Mouth sounds painful. Are you going to get to see the doc today? As someone else said, you must be so run down at the moment. Oh, and you were right about the chicken pox. Of course.

Heather - How are you finding those new nappies? I love 'em! Finally I think I've found some that work for us. And they're so cute. I'm going to get some more this week.

Welcome back jojay.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2009 10:34

Back from doctors. Dd has thrush. Ds has impetigo. I have a mouth ulcer. Thank goodness prescriptions are free!

OP posts:
ronshar · 27/04/2009 10:45

Welcome Jojay.

CSWS, you are having such a bad time at the moment. Have you thought about maybe turning down some invites and having quiet days at home with very little going on? I know when I get to boiling point I ignore the phone stay home and let the girls watch as much TV as they want. A quiet day can also help with the sleeping as over stimulation will prevent little ones from relaxing properly.

MM & Jenwa, breath deep and slow DH are generally rubbish because they are not women.

I had a great day out yesterday. It didnt start well when I had to phone my DH at 4am to tell him to get his arse home. WTF I even asked him to make sure he would be home reasonably early as he was looking after the children. Arsehole. I was so mad. He couldnt even wake up properly when I left.
I am also thinking of going single. I can do dairy free so I can go man free!!!!
My sister was fab. She finished the marathon really well. No injuries so all good.

ronshar · 27/04/2009 10:47

So you will be appling creams and rinsing your mouth all day. Just make sure that you put the right creams on the right places, you dont want to put canesten on your mouth ulcer

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2009 10:50

Well done to your sister ronshar.

Quiet days are the pits here. Dd moans and whinges if she is not fully entertained round the clock. She won't sit still or be happy even with the TV on, although dora and diego will keep her occupied for a while (and too regularly do).
She is finally back to school this afternoon though - hurrah!

Where on earth was your dh til 4am ronshar?!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2009 10:52

Is a very weird sensation having this paste stuff in my mouth.

Giving ds medicine is getting as hard as giving dd medicine has always been. We are having to pin him down and hold his head still .

OP posts:
RachieW · 27/04/2009 11:21

Morning! CSWS- glad it's not an allergy and hope your mouth ulcer goes soon, along with Dd's thrush and Ds' impetigo.

Ronshar- Sorry about your dh, I quite frequently think about going single. Having a baby defintely changes your relationship. I don't think I've ever felt so frustrated with my dh Mind you he did give me saturday to myself and buy me a lovely bag yesterday so he is in the good books...for the moment. Well done to your sister too!

Not a bad night sleep here, ds woke at 2am and at 5am then slept to 7.30. It took me over an hour to get back to sleep at 2am, have started thinking about work when I wake up . It's ridiculous I'm off til Sept so no real need to worry yet.

Very exciting ds highchair has just been delivered. Sadly the doorbell woke him from his morning snooze to early so he is grumpy. He also seems snotty again today, really hope it's not another cold. Have plonked him in front of his nursery rhyme dvd so I can post on mn do the washing and tidying. Baaaad mummy.

KSal · 27/04/2009 11:32

well done ronshar's sis! normally i would go and watch the marathon (sounds odd but its great fun) but i couldn't face the crowds with a baby!

CSWS you poor thing... ulcer is a sign of how run down you are, i reckon. I just had to look up what impetigo is, poor little Duncan... and DD for that matter.

just saw this - don't think i'll be trying that option somehow!!

ronshar · 27/04/2009 12:08

Ksal, this is the second time I have watched tis great fun.

I used to wonder if bleach would start to be used for skin conditions linked to Staph infections. When I nursed it was often discussed for use with recurring leg ulcers. Never used it though. Not sure I would be happy dunking childrennuntil completely satisfied it didnt do harm elsewhere!!

CSWS, DH was out with a friend who's wife had a fling and broke up the marrige. They were supposed to be cheering him up. I wasnt surprised as he is a real chauvanist pig, expected her to do everything and have no life.
I said to DH he may as well start organising his own night out

pepperrabbit · 27/04/2009 12:39

Hi, just found new thread - computer very tempramental and keeps crashing.

pepperrabbit · 27/04/2009 14:01

temperamental.
And clearly affecting my spelling. or should that be effecting?
wanders off to Pedants Corner..

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2009 14:52

That would be Pedants' Corner .

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2009 14:53

Which highchair rachie? Has been source of much discussion on our threads!

OP posts:
Jojay · 27/04/2009 15:00

CSWS - what a morning! I's exhausting when the kids are ill and when you're not on top form it's truly horrendous. Sending virtual flapjack....

And congrats to your sister ronshar - what an achievement! I so admire people who can do things like that.

Well we had afairly hellish morning at a soft play centre near us (I know,. I know, but it was pouring)
DS1 had a lovely time but Ed screamed at full volume for the duration - or most of it anyway. I don't know why he was quite so inconsolable. He's doesn't particularly enjoy places like that - too noisy and bright for him ,but he's not normally that bad.

Seems happy as a larry now we're home though, little horror

We've had a bit of a breakthrough witht esolids too - he seemed to really quite enjoy his porridge today, actualy opened his mouth for the spoon. He also sucked a chip earlier so hopefuly we're on the way.

And on the highchair topic, we have a Babydan, like a tripp trapp but cheaper, and it's ace.

Must go, he's wowling again.

pepperrabbit · 27/04/2009 15:24

CSWS I'll line em up - you knock them down! Seriously - hope you start to feel better soon, perhaps DH will begin to understand that you're physically exhausted?
Hi Jojay - you are brave taking 2 to a soft play area!
I'm lurking while waiting for DS1, neighbour very kindly gone to get him as DS2 been floppy and feverish all day and just flaked out at ten to three, then DD's yawning her head off, so I put them both to bed and called in the cavalry. Thank goodness I have people to help. DS2 is in DS1s bed as he'd wet through his this morning so all a bit topsy turvy here (no change there then)
Climbing frame a great success, I'll post some photos when I've got aminute.

pepperrabbit · 27/04/2009 15:58

aubergenie - just read on the last thread that you've been in contact with CP? All 3 of mine had it Feb/Mar. DD was least affected really as she couldn't scratch. Spots came out exactly a 12 days after DS1's so 14 days from when he would have been infectious. Your DS is unlikely to be infectious this week (just festering quietly!).
Yes, I am reading the threads in reverse order.... this is probably really out of date.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/04/2009 16:08

Hi all, gosh I need to get back on track with MN, I'm getting very slack!

Ronshar I've been caffeine-free for aood while now. Thanks though! I have mixed feelings about reintroducing dairy - on one hand I want to be right, but I don't want Poppy to be dairy intolerant!! If it is cows milk protein exacerbating the r eflux, would this come up on an allergy test?

New ladies, do you know we have a facebook group?

I've just taken Poppy to a baby massage taster, she made us go nappy-less, Poppy's been straining all day, did the biggest poo (surprisingly liquid for her too!) all over the towel while on her front getting her back massaged! She loved the massage tho, she was actually laughing at one point, would have hated it just a few months ago due to the reflux. She really is a different baby these days. Altho she is still very demanding.

She thinks she's ace with her rolling, most mornings I wake to see her on her front in the cot. She is 6 months next Tues so I'll probably start weaning this Friday.

I did a volunteer stint at an NCT sale yesterday, it meant I got first pick of all the bargains I got a virtually brand new M & P travel cot to use as a playpen, lots of pretty dresses and a few toys and other bits.

Ekka · 27/04/2009 16:17

Jojay - welcome back! Ds has horrendous eczema which has cleared up a lot since I went dairy free, but we use epaderm on his body in vast quantities at every nappy change and Unguentum M on his face which seems to work for us. We had the community children's nurse here today and she recommended a good long (10-15mins) soak in a bath with oilatum bath stuff every night then pat him dry and give him a heavy application of his creams. Don't think we'll manage the daily bath as the logistics don't work when I'm managing bedtime on my own. She also said not to wash with just water but to use dermol (another emollient cream) as a soap substitute.

Got to dash as dd is trashing the house!

jenwa · 27/04/2009 16:25

HM yeh to the new things, fab and to the poo at baby massage but it obvioulsy did the trick.

csws poor you and your family. Hope you get better soon. I had mouth ulcers years ago, I have an allergy to too much salt and get spots in my lips if I eat too much so had antibiotics which turned it into thrush and hundreds of ulcers! mum thought giving me a peach would be soothing [ouch]
pepper glad the climbing frame is all ok, look forward to the pics.

ronshar Can i be in the single club please too I dont think anyone else would want me either as I have a wobbly belly, crap hearing and 2 children so not really a good selling point, anyway, I think men are vile so prob would never want another one LOL at dairy free so could go man free Maybe you are just allergic to men I think I am well maybe just my DH at this point I may need to do a test to see haha!
He is away tomorrow so I get the house to myself and my girls which means tidy tidy tidy!! yeh. I may have a sort.

jojay sorry your morningwas not great. I find Phoebe can sometimes be a little unsettled when we are somewhere new. She seems to know now when I am not in the room and when other people look at her that she does not know them! She is soo smily but has recently not been keen when some stranger sticks their head in the pram neither would I though I suppose!

csws your DD sounds like mine [hmm[ Dora and deigo here too bloody goes round your head though! Deigo..to the rescue...bagpack bagpack!!!!! "Swiper No Swiping" not that I watch it too

Right of to sort them out now see you later.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/04/2009 16:55

Oh yeah, Poppy has dry skin on legs, we use oilatum in bath and doublebase moisturiser, got a HV prescription.

Jenwa, you get the prize for the most grins in one thread!!

RachieW · 27/04/2009 18:21

CSWS- I ended up getting the chicco happy snack. To be honest I didn't do too much research as a friend had it and I liked the way it reclined. It was also on special offer in Mothercare this week I managed to put it together myself and ds loved having his lunch in it.

HMM- Can Poppy roll back onto her back? Jack can't so is loving rolling but then gets annoyed when he is stuck on his front. I'd also like to join the fb group, I'm on fb..how do I find it? Good luck with the weaning too, I was quite nervous about starting but week 2 and it's going well and I'm really enjoying him having so much fun eating.

Another stupid tired mistake today, went food shopping without my bank card. Only realised at the till but thankfully had some cash on me. I had to do the running total thing and leave bits I couldn't afford. There was a big queue behind me, was so .
