Well, I gave M some yoghurt yesterday and her eczema is no worse so I am having milk. I can indeed have a cup of tea. I'm just being lazy It is usually DH's job but he's away (for the last time yay!!!) M was doing bugger all until the last couple of days. It seems to all come at once! In a few weeks, N will probably get up, walk over to you and say 'Mummy, could you please get me some lunch. I am feeling rather famished'.

My mummy let me have a lovely kip earlier and she picked up ds from school. Then she made us dinner. I love my mummy.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/05/2009 20:39

I have been phoning a woman I don't know to arrange a playdate for dd, and then replying by email to a party invite from another woman I don't know!

Now I'm going to peruse my simply be catalogue for fat people's clothes.

CSWS - DS gets invited to lots of school related play dates and I am often not too sure about the parents. I know for example that the mum of one of his mates is 6 months pg, and smokes like a chimney in the house when ds has been there. He comes home stinking like a pub in the good old days. God I hate Cilla Black more and more. She is getting in a strop with Gok for mentioning that she is a size 14. Heaven forfend! She's about 100 years old, a size 14 is good! She is pissing me right off. I need a dress for M's baby naming but I am not very good at dressing my body at this size. My instinct is to hide, but I'm sure everything will hang off my enormous boobs and make me look even bigger!

jenwa · 05/05/2009 20:49

Bloody hayfever, I am sneezing everywhere, its driving me mad! DH had loft windows open all day and all the blossom is in the house

mm Yes I thought DD may be very matter of fact, when my grandad died I asked who would carve the meat on sunday!

myjob Would ask for a cuppa too but just had wine Glad N doing well though, those milestones will come and then you will wish she was just lying where you last put her rather than crawling after you calling "mama" all the time bless! I remember DH saying her oculd not wait for DD1 to walk and talk, now he wishes she was quiet again

MM you and your clothes can imagine you being a sleek lady with nice funky clothes if your wallpaper, pram hood and DC's clothes are all so funky

csws ohhh strangers for playdates, how exciting. I am currently doing that too although not really playdates, just someone new to area.

Marthasmama · 05/05/2009 20:54

Ha ha ha ha ha Jenwa! I am one of those women that could put a ball gown on and I would look like I was wearing a sack! I cannot dress myself. I am so good at dressing other people, just rubbish at my own clothes. In the past I have taken four men shopping and re-invented their wardrobes. (including my GBF) I am good at knowing what colours to put my babies in and I am really good at interior design. But I look like a sack of shite!

jenwa · 05/05/2009 20:59

I do not believe that! You look funky.
I have to see an outfit hanging, am not great at putting stuff together. Need a personal shopper so you could be mine {grin]

Marthasmama · 05/05/2009 21:02

I would love to be a personal shopper. I would probably be able to dress you as you're so different to me. You're tall, leggy, blonde and slim!

Honeymoonmummy · 05/05/2009 21:08

Hi all, this is just a quickie, I haven't caught up yet but I've not had any tea (or lunch) yet... Pops is 6 months today- I can't believe it! I'm leaving her in the nursery on her own for the first time tonight...wish me luck! I've been sleeping in the nursery with her for the last 2 or so weeks now to ease her into it. We'll be using the baby monitor anyway so I'll hear her stirring.
I'm off to Manchester to meet work colleagues for lunch and get my laptop sorted tomorrow. Do u think banana is the easiest thing to take for her? If I mush it up will I need to add water/ milk?
Right, I'm off to get some tea...

Honeymoonmummy · 05/05/2009 21:10

Oh and do I get a green or yellow one, hard or soft? I've never eaten one in my life. Just the smell of them makes me want to retch

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/05/2009 21:15

Never eaten a banana .
Mushed banana stains lots, so take big bib and muzzy for cleaning up. Def not green. Nice and yellow is good, even with a few brown bits, as it will be very ripe and therefore soft and sweet.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 05/05/2009 21:15

Hmm - you and me both. I hate them. If someone eats one on the train I have to move or risk vomiting on them. I'd get a soft yellow one and give it to her in chunks. A ripe yellow one will be easier to mush. M had an oven chip tonight but wasn't too impressed.

Evening all. Just wanted to say hi, had quite a busy day. Went to work to discuss going back in September and then to the baby group.

BLW seems to be a hit today- ds loved sucking on carrot sticks for tea. I managed to spoon feed him some porridge at breakfast and then he had toast crusts. I found some courgette skin in his nappy (sorry tmi) but was quite happy as I didn't think he'd eaten any yesterday.

Am thinking of trying melon for breakfast tomorrow- will that be ok?

HMM- Beware of the banana- a friend told me it leaves black stains on clothes, I couldn't see how but it really does.

jenwa · 05/05/2009 21:59

MM I am tall and do have blonde hair but I am not so nice as your description! I would however like to be styled into a yummy mummy

rachie Glad your DS doing well with BLW.
Phoebe doing well with BLW, I am mixing it so some BLW and some puree. She has Weetabix and toast this am, puree lunch then chicken and broccoli for tea and smiley faces! She also has been eating cheese and organix crisp things. Even took some formula from her tippee cup too she is great
Think Melon ok, not sure if filing enough on its own though.
HM banana good although you could just puree some fruit and take it in a pot already mashed so it saves you getting messy out and about? Maybe puree some apples and pears? I take it you want the banana for Poppy and not your work colleague haha!
myjob Nice you have met someone simular to you, always good especially when you want to achieve something as you can help each other to get going and do it.

RachieW · 05/05/2009 22:12

Jenwa- Phoebe sounds great with her food. I'm hoping Jack will be the same at some point. I'll probably do some porridge as well for tomorrow. At the moment I'm just glad he's putting food in his mouth after the whole refusual of purees, so am not worried too much if he gets full from it as he's still having all his milk feeds. I'm assuming gradually he'll begin eating the food and not just sucking and then begin to have meals that fill him up?

I'm persisting with the cups- he just bites the spout but I'm hoping the penny will drop!

I'd also like to be a yummy mummy please. Feel like such a frump since having Jack

Honeymoonmummy · 05/05/2009 22:22

Hi all, I'm back. Catch-up made me laugh, esp Helloooo and your DH Jenwa! Poor man doesn't know he's just been "outed" on MN I bet! Oh and spare us the modesty Jenwa, we've seen the photos!

MM, you used to spend a fortune on designer clothes? Ya don't say?? Hey, if the hooters are big enough, don't worry cos at least 50% of the congregation won't look any lower!

My thinking re banana was that it would be fresh, will mushed apples/ pears keep for an hour or two? I gave her apple puree today mixed with banana porridge. She pulled a face but still ate it. Not as keen on this as on sweet potato tho. I froze some sweet potato, what if I took some frozen sweet potato with me? Would that be best?

I've just finished reading The Rise and Fall of a Yummy Mummy and it's made me feel utterly inadequate. Has anyone else read it?

You brave person Rachie trying BLW! Is that a good thing to start with, carrot sticks? Do you cook them till they're mushy first?

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/05/2009 22:27

You just cook them like you'd normally cook a carrot hmm, no more, no less.

Jenwa - you can stick pins into a voodoo doll of me if you like, but I'm going to be pedantic. You are doing a mix of purees and finger food, not a mix of purees and BLW, because by definition that isn't remotely possible. Nowt wrong with that, but please don't call it blw.

OP posts:
RachieW · 05/05/2009 22:33

Hiya HMM- You could take the sweet potato frozen and it should defrost in an hour so would still be fresh. I think the apple would be fine for an hour or two though as well.

Jack has decided we are blw! Am quite scared of choking but just do deep calming breathing when he eats . I just couldn't fight him with the puree so we're trying this way. I'm kind of making it up as I go along, but following what's safe to eat from this website. I steamed the carrots for about 15mins so they were firm enough to hold but not to firm to bite. He sat there for about 20mins sucking on them quite happily. Fingers crossed this way works.

heather1980 · 05/05/2009 22:34

i've read that book too hmm.
are you doing purees? banana stains clothes and its quite messy as well.
we are blw so i have a supply of bread sticks in my bag and raisins. alex loves kiwi fruit and melon.
where are you going for lunch? you might be able to get a baked potato which would be nice and soft.

Honeymoonmummy · 05/05/2009 22:48

I'm only on day 5 so I'm not at all confident about the whole thing yet! I'll stick to the sweet potato as the banana sounds like a mare.

I can't remember the name off the top of my head Heather, it's in the square with the Town Hall (Albert Square), just round the corner from our office. Are you in the city centre tomorrow?

Honeymoonmummy · 05/05/2009 23:06

I'm off to bed anyway (not next to my lovely Pops but next to my smelly DH altho not as smelly as Jenwas) Hey ho. Night all.

heather1980 · 05/05/2009 23:07

bless ya! i found that just letting go of the fear was the best thing, he rarely gags now and made good headway into salmon, asparagus and baby corn for tea tonight.

no i'm not in town tomorrow, manchester with 2 small kids on your own is a nightmare! instead i shall be at read and rhyme time at the library

i am a bit sad today i am due back at work in 6 weeks i have to see personel in the next 2 weeks to sort out my return. i don't want to go back

Honeymoonmummy · 05/05/2009 23:08

Oh no Heather! Still, you have 6 lovely weeks left, make the most of every day and try not to think about the looming d-day x
