Oooh, I'm with you Loulou, how can i have missed all this shoe talk??!!

MM - good work re Doctors!!! Thank you. (For my sins - and I must have been a very bad person I work for the Department for Work and Pensions. Rather spookily they've decided to close my office whilst I've been on mat leave so I undertsand I will be starting work in a job centre sometime soon - presumably finding people work, but this is the civil service so who knows...

Heather - Hi. I'm currently in New Moston, originally from Middleton. I used to work in Bury tho - on Angouleme Way - very handy on market days

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2009 22:03

I suggested that we take the dc to a really good toddler gym thing tomorrow morning. He said no, he wants to do some stuff for himself (playing with some new software he got last week I assume, which he wants to know in case a job comes up with this particular version of it), and that I have to take them both on my own. Pointed out that I couldn't really run round with dd at it if I had ds too. He said he'd stay at home with dd then, which I pointed out was absolutely pointless since the gym is a trip targetted at dd not ds, and that he could have some time to play with his computer in the afternoon when dd is at school. He got in a strop, said he wasn't coming, and that I could go out and get a job then. Well yes, I could, but since the IT consulting market is so flat that even he can't get anything, I'd have to go back into accountancy, so I'd earn in a year about what he'd earn in 3 months on his normal rate, or 6 months on what he's more likely to get these days. And of course my job would be perm, so he couldn't change his mind in a couple of months if he gets offered the work that he's hoping for (back with old company, once a couple of projects get approved so that they have the budget to have him back). And of course he'd have to look after both the dc full time, which he'd actually hate and not be terribly good at (aside from the fact that he can't lactate). But none of this matters to him when he wants to have a strop and be childish. And he gets shitloads of time on his computer which he could spend fiddling with his software, but he chooses to play bejewelled blitz or whatever instead. Aaaaarrrrghhhh. Knob.

red - you're like me, i've lived all over m/cr. newton heath, miles platting, blackly, radcliffe and now bury. i get around me!

we can talk about shoes again if you want. i still can't see a pair i like.

RedElsie · 10/05/2009 22:05

Oh, sorry to hear you're not well Heather. Hope you feel better soon

heather1980 · 10/05/2009 22:10

these are nice

ronshar · 10/05/2009 22:17

CSWS what an arse.
Why dont you go out tomorrow morning and leave both children with him? That will soon make him change his tune. The DC will survive for a few hours and you will feel better for time away from all of them. Even if you just go for a walk or to the local shops. Dont ask tell him.
I have just started playing bejewlled blitz today. Its all my mums fault what can I say.

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:18

I've been annoyed with DH today too CSWS. He's been away for ages, but he;s spent most of his time doing little work things today. He's had M for some of the time so I can spend time with ds as while DH has been away poor old ds has been a little neglected as M is so demanding. So when I'm supposed to be having a cuddle with ds all I can hear is M getting upset. This happened a few times and I went to check what was going on each time. She was either hanging off his lap crying because she wanted something to play with or sat in her Bumbo crying because she had thrown her toy to far away, while DH sat on his work laptop. So I ended up taking her back with me and there ended my time with ds. When I told him I wasn't happy that he was ignoring the kids to do work he just gave me the lecture about supporting the family and working for all of us etc. He also got really angry with M last night when she wouldn't settle but the poor little thing isn't feeling well. Bloody men.

I would possibly have said fine, I will, you stay home with the kids and to test how you will get on, tomorrow I am going out for a few hours and you can look after the dc. Have you got any EBM? Ah, actually D doesn't take a bottle does he? Would he not be able to survive if you took dd and D stayed with dh?

ronshar · 10/05/2009 22:20

Heather you havent been to Mexico have you. I hope you feel better quickly.

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:20

Heather - What style do you like? Open toe, strappy? I am a Mary Jane girl myself which is why I end up linking Mary Janes!!!!

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:23

I feel really tired today. I mean exceptionally tired, like I could just pass out at any moment. I did start to wonder if we had a CO leak, but we have an alarm so it can't be that. [paranoid] I am wondering if I am still anaemic so I really must remember to get some Spatone.

ronshar · 10/05/2009 22:25

MM, have you found a nice pair of MJ's that are not too round toe with a bit of a heel? I would like a pair for kinda day stuff to wear with a skirt or jeans or linen trousers. Not necessarily black.
I dont want much

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:26

I'll get looking Ronshar........

ronshar · 10/05/2009 22:27

MM is your alarm new? Apparently they need checking all the time to make sure they are working properly.
Are you eating? When you are tired you must keep up your intake. The heat will wipe you out as well.

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:29

These are SOOOO comfortable. I had a pair and I wore them until they fell apart. I ran up and down stairs in them and wore them for ten hours a day. I loved them. I would definitely buy them again. Here you might find a few more options.

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:34

Yes the alarm is new. It's about 5 months old. I have been eating, I wish that was the problem as I would probably be losing weight. I don't think I've been eating very well as, like all mums, I tend to sort the kids out and then grab something quick for myself, like oat cakes and houmous. My house is very cold so even in the height of summer my house can be a bit chilly so I'm not feeling the heat. Ah, the joy of having an Edwardian property!

ronshar · 10/05/2009 22:36

Thank you lady. I love the Bar 2 in red. I do love Jones. I was only in there the other day DD2 wanted some Lellie Kelly's. Hideous shoes. Luckily they didnt have any in her size

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:44

I used to work in Jones as I wanted to be a fashion buyer and was doing my retail ground work. DS hates those Lillie Kelly shoes so much he covers his ears and shuts his eyes when the advert comes on. He gets really angry about girlie adverts

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2009 22:44

sooooo many scrummy shoes there mm. Am that none of them would fit me.

Now I seem to have a dodgy tummy keeping me up - great!

I couldn't just go out and leave everyone behind. I'd never hear the end of it. Dh unlikely to agree to have ds here whilst I take dd out, as he couldn't just plonk him in front of the tv for hours. I bet dd would love some time with just mummy though. She hasn't had any since ds born.

ronshar · 10/05/2009 22:49

You are going to have to get tough. If DH is at home full time as well, you are not unreasonable to expect sharing of childcare. Dont ask, CSWS, tell him. "I am taking DD out I will be back at XXX time. Lunch is this, see you later".
You need to get some ground rules if DH is home for a long time. It will start to cause real problems between you. Resentment etc.

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:50

Awww poor dd. I know what you mean, poor ds is so clingy when he does actually get some time with me bless him. But we both have such demanding little poppets don't we? Is there nobody near by that could take D out for a walk or look after him for a while while you take dd out? I'm lucky that DH does take dd, just wish he would take more notice of her. DS and DH clash so badly that I spend a lot of my time consoling poor ds.

heather1980 · 10/05/2009 22:50

MM i love strappy shoes but i have horrible wide feet so they don't really suit me and they end up killing my feet.
i need ones that have round toes, maybe a peeptoe, either an ankle strap or sling back.

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:58

I am 100% with Ronshar on this CSWS, I keep forgetting that your DH is home at the moment. I can understand that you don't want to rock the boat but they are his dc too. When I worked full time I completely expected DH to do his share of the child care, if not sightly more as he quite often worked Saturdays in exchange for time off in the week. I would not take no for an answer, you need to spend some time with dd for both of you. It is not acceptable for your relationship with your daughter to suffer because your dh is being selfish and inconsiderate. Plus you're going to crash and burn if you don't get the help you need & get some sleep!

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 22:59

Ok Heather. I am the same, I have wide feet and bits squish out of strappys!! Not a good look!

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 23:07

These are pretty. These are VERY high, I have them in purple. Too casual? Too flat? Too sparkly?

ronshar · 10/05/2009 23:08

MM yes yes and yes.
CSWS you listen to her

Off to bed now.
See you tomorrow.
