Hey TS Glad you're getting some good responses from folks IRL. Do you know because I read your posts in a Tennessee drawl, when you say shag I imagine lots of 1960s teenagers doing a silly dance. DH has just taken his 2nd pot of lovejuice for analysis (4m later!) - for a laugh I told him about your DH's instructions for 26 ejaculations so he has been a busy little bee this fortnight! Aaah tis good for what ails yer

LoveBuckets · 27/04/2009 09:29

Can I just say for the millionth time how much I am LOVING have a baby who loves me and wants me to know it?

Sazzles Dairy-free diet has shown no improvements to skin or poo but you're supposed to do it for 3m to clear them out and give them a fresh start. He's also on expensive probiotics to repopulate the gut but no improvements from them either. It's all a bit Empereor's New Clothes, if things did improve later we'll never know if this process had anything to do with it.

Miamla · 27/04/2009 11:28

morning all
any ideas how to stop DS biting me? not my nipples, but everywhere else! seriously, he's sees bare flesh and goes in for the kill. he doesn't even try and bite anyone else! i've tried loud "ows" and ignoring (this worked when he bit my nipple and he hasn't done it again since) I've still got marks on my stomach from when he woke me up yesterday morning

Miamla · 27/04/2009 11:29

gah! was about to do a reply to everyone but Captain Poo has arrived so i'd better sort him out first!

alittlebitshy · 27/04/2009 11:51

hello -
still glum here

steaky lots and lots of luck and hope your french holds up!

ts mmm - can i have some please

Ds had a feed at bedtime but nothing since. Thus the night was awful as where i usually feed him and he goes back off no problmes, he screamed and cried and dh ended up cuddling him back off. between 7.30pm and 7am we had 3 wake ups which is not how it is these days

Went to the gp this morning and she said he has a v v sore throat. She started saying it probably wasn't chicken pox but then saw that more spots had appeared so it probably is...

Dh is off on a conference/retreat today It would have been fine if all was normal but the nights are going to be hellish. My mum is coming up which helps with the day stuff but not with the nights.

feeling really down - I am terrified this is the start of the end of breast feeding. After all my struggles I was so enjoying it and intended to carry on a good while yet

sorry so me me me .

TwilightSurfer · 27/04/2009 12:55

i did speak to dh this morning BUT only have he said "did i do something?" that statement came AFTER he fed the cats, a task he never never does. i replied YES and went into my you had a vacation and i worked for 3 days...i didn't complain but you walked in all sobby saying you were tired blah blah blah. he turned and left without response. to be honest he looked like he'd been beaten with the ugly stick this morning, puffy eyes and such. this will all pass.

dd1 in the shower PERFORMING. she's clean and now just playing around while i mn. i'm really meant to be packing up to leave for preschool. priorities

buckets you dh is looking more and more appealing every day. my dh is NOT doing as he was instructed thus pushing any shagging further and further away. oh and i know how to shag (the dance) too. it's a southern must.

no1 sorry about your nice but you made me laugh with the "oh nellie".

albs here's some left overs.

miamla no advice here..dd1 bit me for two years.

vg hi. have a few waters. that's where i start when i have a headache. usually i'm just dehydrated.

now off to do what i was suppose to do....
(and get the kid out of the shower)

PetitFilou1 · 27/04/2009 12:56

Hello
Sorry for the absence - just reporting in as I saw dizzy wondering where I was

Short version of events
I am taking Prozac
I have tonsillitis
dh is about to go to Afghanistan
Toby is refusing to be spoon fed so I may have to move to finger foods whereby not much goes in (which is not great as he is not exactly a big person atm!) On the plus side he is sitting up unsupported for quite a while now. His sleep/feeding patterns are completely screwed up since the Easter hols.
Problems with dd as she has said she hates Toby and wants him to go back to the elves

I may be absent for a while as need to get my life sorted out. But I expect I will be back. Love to you all xx pf

Steaknife · 27/04/2009 12:58

Afternoon all. Tucking into cauliflower cheese here, made with some un-identified but very yummy French hard cheese.

Counselling session was good - I managed most of it in French, with a bit of help from DH and some of the crosser bits in English.

I am v pleased with myself for that alone.

We ended up mostly talking about the night wakings and the counsellor has suggested an night strategy (not based on anything other than what we had said) I am not sure it would stand up to MN scrutiny but it is more about me and DH making an agreement, understanding who does what and sticking to it. If it gets Izzy better at settling and sleepin gin the night then all good too.

I am sure that a consistent approach will be good for all of us.

It was kind of what I expected - tackle a practicle issue to get us going and then get onto deeper stuff later on.

So feeling positive about that I think DH is too.

Just the dr to tackle this afternoon.

Albs sorry you are having a hard time at the moment. Hopefully your mum will be some help and be able to administer tea and cake at appropriate moments.

PF Hello hope things get better for you soon.

Laptop being infernally slow since I put it down rather heavily the other day, so apologies if I don't mention everyone.

TS as the class dunce on DHs I won't say anything but sympathy coming your way. It wasn't you that hit him with the ugly stick was it?

sazzles Thanks - dh is off tomorrow but only for a couple of days - it is more that I am ill and will just have to get on with it. Very kind of you to offer to come over but both dd and Toby have had the same thing (I think) so I would not want you or Emma to get it. My tonsils are like golf balls

I hope you are all ok. I miss talking to you all but really really need to sort things out at home. I have booked Toby into the creche this afternoon for 1/2 hour in the vain hope that I might start to be able to go swimming as a break from everything.

PetitFilou1 · 27/04/2009 13:37

NB Not planning to go swimming today but just to get him used it - in case you all wonder whether I really have gone mad

pf am sorry you're feeling so crappy, I only wish I was closer. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help from all the way up here when does DH go? I'm absolutely DD will change her mind as soon as Toby is up a bit and they can play together more - I find mine get a bit bored with Dylan because she doesn't do much

great idea re the creche, hope toby enjoys it

ALBS poor H as well. if his throat is sore some chilled petit filou or a dab of ice cream might soothe? I also prescribe unlimited magnum whites for you glad you mum is able to help as well

steaky lovely to hear you sounding more positive glad it went well - fingers crossed for this afternoon too

sazz two lots of cake/coffee in one day all I have is the stench of paint and an upside down house still! the painter was here at 7.45am and is away for the day having done all the prep work and a coat in the living room ceiling - am not sure about him as everytime he lift something he has to sit for a while to get his breath back - am off to look out the home insurance to see if his family can sue should anything happen

TS lovely to have you back, glad you're getting some sitters sorted

I haven't faired so well there as the CM who I had in mind has no spaces. it may yet be a day in the nursery for DD2, its not as flexible but its a tad cheaper per hour and once her funding kicks in this Aug was what I'd intended to do anyway

VG meeting is tonight and I think I've managed to drag back from the slight issue I had with the planning - some arseytwatknowitall other member of the committee pointed out a slight detail that wasn't right and I as a bit worried I'd missed something really obvious - apparently I haven't

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 27/04/2009 13:47

pf to hear you are feeling down too, and to have tonsillitus too is just not fair.
I hope you manage some time to yourself.

albs to hear for you too, hope it helps having your mum about. Ds is also hit and miss with bf lately. I remember dd self weaned around 9 months.

miamla sorry no real help about biting. Whends bit me for first time the other week I firmly siad no, and out him down.
He did just laugh, but hasn't done it since.

ts I agree with sazzles you need a break and leave dh with the girls.

sazzles glad your night was better. I did the whole back stroke thing too.

steak glad appointment went ok, and great for your frence holding up too.

i have managed to get both dcs in bed, I feel a bit strange.
Stomache gurgling making very odd sounds
Went to a party yesterday (dds friends)
One mum said she had had d&v on friday.
In am and maybe paranoid.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 27/04/2009 13:50

Xpost dizzy Hope the meeting tonight goes well.

sazzles I would love your recipe for the lemon drizzle cake pleeeeease

dizzydixies · 27/04/2009 13:51

No1 not only are you intitled to a lazy day, I demand you have it - last night sounded like a nightmare

buckets how lovely that Kurt is just all those things and more

VG I would love to have a wkend/night away but short of leaving DD1 in charge its not going to happen! We just don't have the option anymore, not that we did it on a regular basis but I'd try to get my aunt to help out once a year to give us a weekend break. I had my night off for the rugby and I think the next time will be in Nov if we manage to actually get to NY this time

I'm hoping once all the work on the house is done and I get a chance during the week to do the housework, time when dh is off can be spent doing things together rather than chasing out tails. I believe it was when I threatened to dump the cafe profect and feck off back to work (and the horrendous shifts etc that go with it) that he thought maybe I was being serious - the cafe if it all goes ahead would give us such a better quality of life as I will hopefully be able to pick and choose my working hours. Ah, we'll see.

dizzydixies · 27/04/2009 13:56

No1 am not sure about Sazz's but here is MarsLady's lemon drizzle cake, tis imfamous on here and I can confirm it is fab time and time and time again

Marsy's Famous Lemon Drizzle Cake

INGREDIENTS
9 oz sugar
9 oz butter
12 oz self-rising flour
4 eggs
3 t baking powder
6 Tbsp milk
grated rind from 2 lemons
juice from these lemons separately

METHOD

Preheat oven to 325 degrees/Gas Mark 3/170C/ Mix all the ingredients together in the mixer except for lemon juice. Bake in 9 X 11 (or 13) baking dish. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until knife comes out clean. While the cake is baking, squeeze the juice from the lemons and heat for 20 seconds or so in the microwave. Set at least one tablespoon aside to drizzle into the cake when it comes out of the oven. Take the balance of the warm lemon juice and add icing sugar (confectioners sugar) to consistency you like. As soon as you take the cake from the oven, prick cake with fork and pour over the reserved warm lemon juice. Next, spread the icing over the cake to finish it off.

pf we will miss you too but quite understand that real life does occasionally have to come first Your poor throat. Surely vats of ice cream are the only option here?

You have such a lot on your plate, I'm sure I'm not alone among the August mums in being completely hat-doffingly admiring of you

Just as I was about to reply to everyone, DS wakes up...

cyteen could you ask Joe why he felt it necessary to waken Dylan up too?!?!?!? as short naps go that was a teeny tiny one

dizzydixies · 27/04/2009 14:05

they're basically the same apart from mine appears to be more no surprise there though

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 27/04/2009 14:08

Thanks for recipes. I really fancy it, but have no lemons in and actually dare not eat owt.

Hi cyteen
I am sure my two will be awake soon I said I would sleep when they did.

I might go read my book, may finish it this year sometime.(although I know I will sit on here till one wakes up)

dizzydixies · 27/04/2009 14:10

ROFL at the no lemons I bought 3 specially yesterday but as I can't see my cooker under all the crap stuff from the living room its not getting done and am even considering fish & chips for tea!
