Thanks VG I think we will go up to the attic in a bit and play some of Si's records very loud DP is on his way back from London so when he returns we will have a big family snuggle.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 26/04/2009 08:54

morning all.

cyteen Thinking of you today, think that idea to go do something with Joe today is a good idea if you feel up to it. {{hugs}} if you don't mind them

dizzy what a nightmare you are having, I feel I am always doing things with dcs on my own.

sazzles yes we had a bit of tag teaming here last night, but ds was the worst. Thinking its teeth again.

So I did do the rr thing with dd.
1st night 35ish returns then 1hr 10 min till she fell asleep.
2nd night 5 returns then all quiet. 50 min then asleep.
Last night 1 return all quiet 20 min to sleep.

Last night was the 1st night in a long time she did not get up and come in our bed.
Dh is on board and agrees it was worth it.

poppy hope you enjoy your holiday.
expectant welcome, glad flight went ok and hope jet lag is easing off.

vg 4 bet you are shattered, I havnt been on for few nights as have been exhausted after bed time routine, so just settled down with dh and film, wine, snacks etc...
pertelote Hi of all these mini meets going on.
buckets sounds a lovely day you had.

DD1 has party to go to at 1 today, lovely day here so hoping to walk. (I could actually just climb back in bed)

2nd night 5 returns 50 min

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 26/04/2009 08:57

wondered where that last bit went, i was sure I had typed it once.

cyteen that sounds lovely

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 26/04/2009 08:59

After 4 nights of sleep throughs with ds and now 2 nights fo 2 hourly wake ups I am worn out again.
It is amazing how just 1 good night spoils you.
sazzles how is your nose, did you bruise??

LoveBuckets · 26/04/2009 09:04

Have a good day Cyteen, do something nice for yourself and Joe, you know that's what he'd be hoping for .

VG Thanks, I have some credit on Greenmetropolis and was wondering what to order next so London Eye it is.

DH & DD are going to a Saints family funday and old boys game today, only a fiver and Bruce Grobelaar will be there (??) I'm thinking of taking the boys round to play at the weirdy PILs for good karma because I am such a wonderful wife and DIL. They drink instant tea and serve it to you unless you specifically ask for a teabag - they really think you can't tell the difference.

Pertelote surely you have far more exciting carnivals and community events in East London? Do you really pine for WI jam and tombolas?

dizzydixies · 26/04/2009 09:11

cyteen will be thinking of you today. Why not take the opportunity, now that Joe is here, to start a tradition on this date? Like showing Joe some photos of his uncle and playing his music or going somewhere special to him? Time to celebrate his life and the positive influence he had on all of you

No1 that sounds great, I hope it continues in such a positive way

VG appreciate your thought but I wouldn't say we're back on track yet he did come home from work at 2am and isn't meant to be in until 9pm tonight but we'll see. Something has to give and at the moment its my patience/sanity.

Girls all slept through, Dylan until 7am and the other two up shortly afterwards. DD1 has done nothing but whine to get back on the wii (not going to happen, was a rare treat but unfortunately her wee friend seems to play it all the time) and DD2 has so far spilt her water everywhere and table salt all over my kitchen - was my fault I stupidly believed they were in the play room like I asked them and not emptying the contents of my kitchen cupboards SO after shouting at them both a little too much I took dylan upstairs and dumped her in the bed with DH and told her to look after her whilst I sorted out this mess. Not particularly fair considering he's only been home since 2am but sod it, I've had it already and its only 9am

cyteen · 26/04/2009 09:25

dizzy that is a great idea and thanks to all you wise ladies for your kind words too. Sun is shining here (for now) so loud music sounds like the order of the day!

no1 I'm so pleased your strategy has panned out so well...top mum points for you my dear. Sorry you're so tired though. It is crazy how quickly a person can get used to good sleep again, isn't it? Now that Joe is generally sleeping through till 4am, whenever he does wake up at midnight DP and I are both full of woe, forgetting that only a short while back he was regularly waking at 2-3 hour intervals.

LoveBuckets lol at weirdy PIL Instant tea though, that is truly bizarre. My stepmum buys the most disgusting tea I've ever tasted; god knows what the brand is, if indeed it even has one, but it tastes like factory floor sweepings and not even a tea factory at that She drinks vats of the stuff (as do I, normally) and is always trying to press a cup of tea on us when we visit - I have to pretend that I've just had one or make up some other lame excuse.

Instant tea.
Bad tea from the inlaws here too.

Cyteen-thinking of you here too today of course.

I had a word with my friend on Friday and she is plain relieved to have someone she can talk to about things she has been worried about for a long time. So hopefully we can all work together now to give her DS the support he needs. Thanks to Cyteen, No1 and Buckets for talking to me about that the other night.

DD2 is trying to climb the stairs at every opportunity. Eek. And day-time naps seem to be against her religion.

I want children who sleep

LoveBuckets · 26/04/2009 11:05

Good work Sibh, thought she'd be relieved.

Sazzles Good luck with photoshoot, sounds expensive.

I'd forgotten to warn my folks about the instant tea - they both had to spit it back in their cups in horror when they visited to swap grandchildren one day, with much trying not to catch each other's eye. My mum then managed to sneak both their cups to the kitchen plughole though. Not hard seeing as the PILs didn't even notice I was having contractions in front of them one day last August...

dizzydixies · 26/04/2009 11:20

have made asked DH to take girls to gymnastics to I could have a shower whilst Dylan naps so why oh why am I on here

well done sibh am sure she's delighted she doesn't have to deal with this on her own

non tea drinker here don't like coffee either - and I'm trying to open a coffee shop

Steaknife · 26/04/2009 14:11

Just quickly popping in to say "bonjour"

Cyteen I hope your day passes well.

A nice evening last night but Izzy woke at 12.30 and wouldn't settle till 2.15, then awake at 6ish but slept in our bed till 8.30

Had something of a breakthrough with DH and night time help.
I said "she sleeps when she is sucking"
He said "well why don't you feed her and I'll put her down after"

I thought "mmmfbbrrfffgggrrreeek meep" and actully said "that's what I've been asking you for the last two months"

Turns out I hadn't said it just like that, word for word what I wanted. At least he thinks it is his idea so it is much more likely to happen, though he has confessed that he won't be keen on the 4am turn.

Blokes eh - what are they like?

MIL and bad tea here too. When I first visited they didn't have a kettle and would boil the water in a pan, or not boil the water, just let it get hot. And had got Lipton yellow label t-bags. Boakiest of Boakiest tea bags in the world.
So the tea was vile. I had to stop her in the end and show her the water needed to be boiling for the tea.

They have since got a kettle - still can't make a decent cup of char though.

missing you all but the sunshine is calling.

alittlebitshy · 26/04/2009 18:53

Back soon when i'm less stressed out by the lack of feeding

Miamla · 26/04/2009 19:11

i'm just popping on quickly. DP had idiot friend staying here this weekend. he's so childish, i have no patience for him

DP now cutting grass and baby robins (He forgot about the dead one on the grass so it too was mowed)

Miamla · 26/04/2009 19:12

Get well soon Shybaby.

Miamla, I haven't had to deal with a real life manchild in years, am shuddering in recollection, thank god he was a friend of a friend so I didn't have to deal with him often. Has he ever had a girlfriend?

Screeched 'WHY WHY WHY WHY WHYYYYYYYYYY?' at DH this avo as he brought home yet more goodies without checking the ingredients first. Poor DD was quite shocked as I don't often go off on one in front of the kids but I was so fed up with his lack of concern for the flippin dairy-free diet I have DS1 on. After pointing out that yes of course sour cream pringles have dairy on them and some less obvious ones, DH seems to have got the message. For today anyway.

Off to watch the Lost summary on Sky1, dipped into the latest series yesterday and was seriously confuzzled, although still entertained. What a headf* though.

dizzydixies · 26/04/2009 20:58

evening all a bit calmer in the house of Dixie

had bit chat with DH, the same things we go over again and again but nevertheless. DH agreed to the childminder idea, esp as he has course work due in June which he hasn't started and the girls were great when we went out for lunch, great on Tesco shop and DD1 went to her friends for a wee play, DD2 fell asleep and Dylan napped too so we got the wallpaper stripped without interruption - not particularly exciting but a much less tense affair - sorry for bleating on recently, am getting myself off to the Dr this week for a chat.

VG I was thinking of Dilute-A-Juice?!? I strangely love the smell of coffee but not the taste and I'm sorry but tea just tastes like a peat bog to me

sazz sounds like a perfectly lovely day did DH like his presents?

ALBS poor poor H can I recommend Nelsons Tea Tree Antiseptic Cream for his spots - it is fabulous stuff. Alternate calpol/neurofen to keep him comfortable and luke warm baths NOT cold. I speak as an adult sufferer of chicken pox, of little comfort to you at the moment but he won't remember

miamla poor wee Robin but glad silly friend has gone - nothing worse than someone you can't be bothered with staying in the house

steaky sounds like a small breakthrough even if he does think it was his own idea lets hope it works - fingers crossed for tonight

cyteen hope today is going ok for you and Joe is giving comfort and joy when its needed

dizzydixies · 26/04/2009 20:59

Sazz PMSL at DH and his one balloon

TS glad all well with you

Sibh · 26/04/2009 21:16

vg was talking about the biggest brand of diltable orange here: mi-wadi. The ad has children arguing about it being 'my wadi'. Does this help dizzy?

Can we borrow the balloon if we have a party sazzles?
