I wondered what had woken me up this morning! What was the bang TS?

oopsacoconut · 05/05/2009 08:45

you okay TS?

Morning Miamla - How did DS sleep?

DD's new tooth is nearly through but is really hurting her - we have had lots of crying in the night she just wanted to be cuddled as she cried, I couldn't find the calpol so she just had to do with cuddles. Dh had put the calpol in a safe place.

We are off to see if the signing lady has found her personality then swimming then home to mn and watch telly hidy.

Miamla · 05/05/2009 09:01

morning oops
i ended up downstairs with a screaming baby at midnight, settled in cot and then i woke up an hour later and he was in bed with us. apparently i got up and got him, scarily no memory! i woke him at 7.30 this morning so he's a grumpy groo and wants a nap now!

your poor DD, have you tried any gels on DD? we found calgel really helped DS

hope sign woman's personality is back from its trip!

hotterpotter · 05/05/2009 09:58

Oops poor DD, hope that tooth comes soon, and have fun swimming if not signing

Miamla that's very exciting about the greenhouse! Definitely wise to get rid if you only have a small garden, especially if someone will pay you for the privilege of moving it . I've also done that waking up and finding DS in bed with me, with no recollection of getting him although that was when he was in the cot right next to the bed. You must be utterly exhausted. Honestly I really think you should ge some blackout lining up in his room and make it utterly pitch dark, it just might work. DS was woken by DD whining at 6am today, I fed him and he went back to sleep until.....8am . He has never slept that late before. Honestly his sleeping has really improved just in the last 8-9 days, since he went in a dark room Sorry I will stop evangelising now

Miamla · 05/05/2009 10:45

hi hotpot lol re your evangelising words! I do take your point about putting him in a dark room etc but i just don't think its going to make a huge difference. we've only recently moved his out of our room (curtains with blackout lining) and he slept just as bad then as he does now. This isn't to say that my poor little boy isn't going to get curtains up, he will but i'm not holding out any hope on them improving his sleep. pleased to hear you're getting more sleep

LoveBuckets · 05/05/2009 11:26

Miamla That 12hr idea sounds v sensible. We have to get up at 7am on schooldays anyway so I know Kurt appreciates his 7pm bedtime. Actually, closing his window properly so the dawn chorus doesn't wake him has helped with the early mornings too, can't believe how long it's taken me to work that out. And he doesn't have proper black out curtains, just v thick dark ones with light all round the edges.

Finally found someone to voluntarily take my old bath away after 6wks in the front garden. She's going to turn it into a planter!

Lazy day today, toddler group cancelled so just got to pick up DS1 at lunchtime. Might go to B&Q and buy a sample paint pot. Going for the Crown Period colours Sash Red. Now trying to decide whether to just replace the curtains and use manky existing pole or remove everything, fill the holes and start again. V tempted to go for the former because then DH will realise the walls need stripping and replastering and all I want is a bit of colour!

TwilightSurfer · 05/05/2009 16:11

Buckets how lucky you are and Miamla you too. Wow!

I come to you ladies today having already had a very good cry. The stress of having my home judged and my daughter judged and my absolute utter exhaustion level plus all the gray rainy weather has just taken it's toll. DH's response it go have a drink. Ah if only it were that easy. The appraisal guy was very nice. He sounded very positively when asking about the improvements we've been making but he did seem to disappear forever in our garage which is sporting a nice water damaged spot on the ceiling. I told DH he should leave his RED CHARGER parked in there as a distraction. Oh well the judgements all over and now I must sit in wait of the reports both for the house and for DD1. I guess a drink now would be fitting since there's no more I can do to change anything.

Reese is EVERYWHERE now. She's standing and letting go to see what happens. She prefers my car keys to any toy. She's eating something solid at each meal time but still seems to need her middle of the night bottle. Juice does not seem to be to her liking. She is displaying four beautiful teeth and I can see the outline of two more which is probably why she wants my keys.

Off now to find my cheerful self because I don't like my poor pitiful wo-is-me self.

oopsacoconut · 05/05/2009 16:50

TS - {{{HUGS}}} I have no words of wisdom so can only offer more {{HUGS}}DD also loves my keys at the moment especially the ignition one.

Signing was okay but is only going to last the term. Swimming on the other hand was fab - we swam together under the water today and DD came up smiling. She is now very tired after all her activity and me dragging her around the suprmarket.

it is very very quiet on here these days, where is everyone?

oopsacoconut · 05/05/2009 16:52

Anyone want a baby???? mine is going free - she just poo'd out the leg of her nappy (missing the nappy altogether) it had oozed everywhere out the buttons on her trouser legs and all over the highchair

Miamla · 05/05/2009 16:57

oops eurgh re nappy! but well done with the swimmimg

ts i may have woken him this morning but i'd only seen him an hour earlier so don't be too impressed!

incase anyone is about - Dh is going to be on cash in the celebrity attic on bbc2 now! or at least his firm is I don't know if he is actually on

Miamla · 05/05/2009 17:28

wow, DS has just put subtitles on the tv! I have no idea how to do it, he's a genius!

sazz why you apologising? according to hotpot if i put black out curtains at the window she guarantees that DS will sleep through Lol re getting worse at 9mths.. the only way DS could be worse is if he didn't sleep at all!

buckets sorry but your post made me smile!

DS full of cold today so i haven't been out yet. really need to get something for dinner though so think i'll have to pop out soon

Miamla · 05/05/2009 17:29

gah! can't get the subtitles off!

oops what does he look like? i need to know in case i wave at the wrong person

oopsacoconut · 05/05/2009 17:32

Miamla - he is tall, dark hair, slightly receding, always has a brooding look on his face, in a suit (I can't remember what he wore) To get subtitles off press the teletext button - subtitles are teletext 888.

oopsacoconut · 05/05/2009 17:48

no he doesn't seem to be on - although there is an awful lot of FIL!!!

Miamla · 05/05/2009 17:56

ooh, which one's fil?

oopsacoconut · 05/05/2009 18:15

He was the one doing the auctioning - with the funny mic on his head!

lwfh · 05/05/2009 18:37

Hello everyone, I do mostly read the thread, and so sorry for not posting more.

Again, sleep here has not been as bad as some people have had, but apart from between about 2.5 and 3 months old when DS slept from 7-4 and 4-7 we have had 2 or 3 wake ups a night, usually 3. Morning is any time from 5-7am.

At the moment I am completely shattered and so what usually happens is that DH and I will both wake up when DS starts to make a noise. DH goes and collects him and gives him to me. I feed him, fall asleep, wake up, put him back in the cot etc. Repeat.

DS in his own room and we have definitely had a few "how did he get into bed with us" moments in the middle of the night.

But probably the low point was last week when I fell asleep feeding him and he fell onto the wooden floor in our bedroom.

And yes, I feed DS to sleep, or cuddle him to sleep, or walk him around in the sling. We've not really got the self settling thing going on here either.

On the plus side it's baby group this afternoon in the park. I emailed round this morning saying that it was a bit chilly did we want to meet insede, and was firmly told no ... so off to a chilly park in lots of warm clothes it is for us.

DS napping - and I guess that daytime naps are going OK at the moment, which is a plus. Not least because I work at my ILs in the morning and neither my ILs, DS nor I could cope if he didn't have a good long nap!

oops - v exciting about the TV, I don't think that we will get it on cable here, although we do get a strange assortment of cable channels, so I will keep my eye out!

Must tidy while DS naps

Clearly not tidying yet. Sazzles, I think that the word you are looking for is gavel? Is this the technical term?

Miamla · 05/05/2009 19:15

gavel sounds good to me!

oops i saw fil

sazz silly thing! no need to apologise! i imagine if you go through a spell and get used to having them leeping through, its worse then when they go back to more wakeups. you see i'm lucky really that DS has never slept through

hi lwfh

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 05/05/2009 19:33

{[hugs}} ts indeed have a drink and try to relax.

sazzles sleep here is getting much worse,we were down to 1 wake up around 4am then 5 nights of sleep throughs, now anything from 3 -8 times.
Getting ridiculous now, he is refusing all bf and ff feeds. Tonight he has the first bf in 3 days
he just wants to feed all night instead too, but still convinced he just suckling for comfort and habbit and not hunger.
lwfh Hi glad daytime naps are ok. its a start I suppose.

TwilightSurfer · 05/05/2009 19:43

EEEUUUWWWHHHH with the poo stories.

Oops my only BBC channel has Ramsey's Kitchen on right now.

Thanks for the pity-pat-on-the-back. Took myself for crappy tacos (since it's cinco de mayo) then to the garden store to look at roses (i want 8 more various ones) then to the park to sit on the swing with Reese until DD1 got out of school.

I failed to mention I slammed my truck's side mirror into our new neighbor's mail box this morning. I hit mine all the time but it's a bit more embarrassing when it's the NEW neighbors and they are outside. No harm down to the mailbox or my mirror but didn't help my faulting mindstate.

Longway I giggled slightly at your story but only because a dear friend posted the same story on FB this morning.

Classical music is blaring, Reese is rocketing herself from one end of the "clean" house to the other, DD1 is in her room with the door shut playing, and I am considering ways to curl up for a little shut eye.
