OMG - I have just read that thread - neglecting my children whilst doing so - bloody funny and will be checking tomorrow afternoon!

Wet and miserable here as well. DD is very miserable having had a hissy fit about everything this morning. Off to a friends for luch (blimey - that's twice in one week ) so hopefully she'll cheer up then....

Hope DS2 is OK Ria

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 10:26

you're just showing off now Norty that you have lots of RL friends

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 10:53

Is it a milestone birthday though Ria? Is he a proper teenager now?

poor DS2, I hope he is OK.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 09/04/2009 12:24

no daisy, only 12 (I AM NOT old enough to be his mum)

DS2 has tonsilitis, but has perked up considerably having received £5 in an easter card from MIL. He feels up to going into town now

Ohforfoxsake · 09/04/2009 13:23

Bloody hell Ria! You are seriously missing your vocation! Get thee to Hallmark and start writing their verse for cards- you'll make a fortune and you can work at home. That poem was brilliant!

HellHathNoFury · 09/04/2009 13:43

Poem truly brilliant Ria
Seriously

you have a wasted talent I think!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/04/2009 14:11

Top poem Ria!
Hope DS2 is having a totally fabby day!

FrazzledFairyFay · 09/04/2009 14:27

great poem Ria

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 15:55

The coat arrived Jammy, thanks. She was so pleased to see it and won't take it off now

Daisy

I am probably being unreasonable. But I am a little that my DSis, who owes me £700, is not only talking of going to Brazil next year, but has just texted me to say that she spent £240 on an outfit today. The reason I am probably being unreasonable is that I did say there was no rush to pay me back and even if she never could it was OK, and that the outfit is for her daughter's wedding, but even so... I kind of feel something along the lines of "I'm sorry, I know it means I can't pay you any money for a while but this is important to me, I hope you don't mind" wouldn't have gone amiss, rather than just assuming I don't mind. When I said it didn't matter if she couldn't afford to pay me back, I was actually thinking of she was truly broke, rather than if she didn't have any spare after forking out £240 on an outfit!

Sorry, rant over.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/04/2009 17:40

Incidentally, I can't afford a whole new outfit for the wedding, so am hoping to slim enough to fit into an existing dress, and even so am wondering if I can afford a cardigan or wrap or similar as well as the new shoes I am going to have to buy.

Bumperlicioso · 09/04/2009 18:05

Hello all, sorry I have been absent again. I haven't even been lurking, I actually haven't been on MN for about a week. I find I'm a bit all or nothing with it, but I got sucked back in with the Penguin thread!

Great poem Ria, I always said you had a fantastic turn of phrase and should write.

Hope the rest of you are all ok. Have skimmed briefly.

T hope you and your LOs are coping on your own. I'm sure you are doing great, but knackered!

It's been up and down here. We seem to have had constant illness here since Christmas. This week DD has an eye infection, a chesty cough and was sick on Monday.

DH had to reinterview for his job as it was initially temporary. He didn't get it, partly because I got whatever DD had and felt shit so didn't interview well. So we were up shit street again, and most of all it was just gutting as for once he actually loves his job. Anyway after 2 days of stress the council called and they have found him another temporary job in a library. The downside is it is a step down in responsibility and money and in a town about half hour away, and obviously still temporary. But at least the crisis is averted for now. We are just really fed up, we are due a break...ho hum.

But, good news is that we have been offered an allotment! We are very excited. It's going to be a lot of work, but will be fab as we don't have a garden at all. Any gardening tips greatly appreciated. The plot needs clearing of grass and weed, and I have bought some seeds to sow in a propagator. We are going to buy DD some toy tools and put a little sand pit on the plot.

Have you all got plans for the weekend? I'm just grateful not to be at work as it is still not great. My friend Lcy came over today as she is nearby at her ILs. It was frigging exhausting! DD is talking so much but it is wearing me out: "Where's XXX?" "Where's baby?" "Where's daddy?" "Mummy help" (with no obvious sign of what she wants help with), and trying to stop her poking the baby and passing on her gammy eye! She's hard work at the moment, not quite as self contained as she used to be!

How are you all anyway?

HellHathNoFury · 09/04/2009 19:34

hehehe

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 21:27

hey bumper

Please don't feel unloved that no-one was around to talk to you, please and come back and chat.

sorry about the job thing for DH, but hopefully something better will come out of this next job. IT's really positive that the council have contacted him about the other job though; shows they have confidence in him

PMSL at tat thread and the penguin one. MN is looking like it's former self again recently

I've just bought some more nappies . I've had DD in cloth this week so ahve bought her some of the new flowery fuzzibunz for wearing under skirts and dresses this summer.....thankfully DH has no idea what is and isn't in my stash and as I'm taking part in a testing forum I can lie about where they came from

OP posts:
Riallytoofattoflounce · 09/04/2009 21:30

thanks
Dsis's friend has a craft shop so I could maybe write some samples and see if she could shift them. Will see. I used to write quite a lot of crappy verses when Iwas a school.

foryour DH bumper, especially when he liked it. But another temp job is something, and it could lead to anything.

HMV had Samba Di Amigos on offer today. Best £10 I ever spent! (dentist took xrays that made me want to vomit - I needed a treat) DS1 didn't spend anything other than his easter £5 - neither of them could find what they wanted. We came home and had chinese and chocolate cake at my parents house. Baggins loves chicken chow mein.

I can see your point jammy, and don't hink you're being unreasonable. £240 is a lot for an outfit in my book. My wedding dress didn't even cost that.

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 21:36

jammy, makes lovely handmade cards....maybe you two can set up an internet business together?

jammy meant to say YANBU about the money. My brother borrowed £400 from me when DS was little to pay for holday flights, and has been back there four times since but I haven't seen my money back . In fact it was from DS1's bank account as I didn't have the money at the time myself
Mind you, perhaps she has forgotten about it as she was in a bit of a mess at the time iirc? Perhaps a gentle reminder now DH is self employed that you need all the money you can get?

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 09/04/2009 21:38

Evening

Nice to see you Bumper....PITA about DH's job....but fingers crossed the next one he will like even more....you certainly deserve a break!

Jammy, I would be very pissed off in your situation and YA definitely NBU

Glad the birthday went well Ria and you had a good day.

I'm sitting here with a PC and a lap top on the go (working on the laptop) and keep using the main keyboard and mouse to try and work the laptop

Bloody footie on tonight (and I think they're losing).

Mmmm I'm sitting here eating a limited edition Muller fruit corner....black cherry and dark chocolate.....yum!

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 21:39

oooh, yogurt sounds tasty norty. I'll look out for that when I'm shopping next.

and I do that with the mouse if I use the desk where DH's desktop sits

Ohforfoxsake · 09/04/2009 21:48

Oh that penguin thread.... need a new Tena (TMI? Perhaps..)

Oops, they lost Norty. Cue very pissed off DP.

LittleMissNorty · 09/04/2009 21:52

We'll all be glued to MN tomorrow afternoon!

Mullers are 8 for £2 in Tesco atm.

Right, they lost (DH pissed off as well!).......being summoned to watch Eastenders...

later x

Riallytoofattoflounce · 09/04/2009 22:09

I'm only watching 2 threads, and on 2, and I can't keep up. Bloody penguins. Found a really cute playmobil set of starey-eyed PM woman feeding penguins...

I don't think it's a problem if she wasn't being sick and if they will send her home butterfly.

DH put up my new shelf yesterday!
and he made pancakes for breakfast this morning

but I am still dreading a long weekend of Bank Holidays more than I should be

LackaDAISYcal · 10/04/2009 11:26

I'm sure she'll be fine butterfly.

Just another day here......DH at work , me still in my jammies, DD and DS1 fighting over magnetix and bumble whinging.

OP posts:
Riallytoofattoflounce · 10/04/2009 12:02

me to daisy . As it's a bank holiday I have been bleaching my kitchen surfaces, cleaning the lovely rather dirty microwave from freecycle (and keeping up to date on the penguin antics)

baggins played with aquadraw for a bit this morning.

gawd, Cerrie & Alex are even scarier dressed as bunnies.

best get dressed and put a wash on, or something.
