That sounds like a lovely day, Norty .
Jamlet's asleep at the moment, having her nap, but we're out at the gym/creche this morning, and I've got a Sainsburys delivery coming between 12 and 1 today, so no chance to go out and enjoy the weather until later really . I might try and fit in a trip to the swings after the gym though.

HellHathNoFury · 08/04/2009 09:10

IL's live in Aus.
They have never met DS.
We were supposed to by flying out there for a couple of weeks to visit.

BUT - I figured it would cost a fortune, and anyone that knows DS would not in their right mind take him on a 30 hour journey. He is a nightmare.
So I said to DH, it would be cheaper and easier for them to come here.
So not only are they coming, we are paying.

Then I find out they want to see England while they are here, so have decided they want to stay for 6 weeks.

Then I find out that MIL no longer wants to be with FIL because he is a violent manic depressive and she is having an affair but hasn't told him yet.
BUT they are still coming - TOGETHER.
Even though they are on the brink of divorce.

And FIL is a W*NKER. Seriously, I do not say that lightly. So much so I would not leave him alone with DS.

So 2009 is going to consist of - fucking painful pregnancy, labour, then 6 weeks of hell. Roll on 2010.

I am beginning to consider braving the flight with DS again.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/04/2009 09:11

Hugs Fury - that's all I can say!!!

Riallytoofattoflounce · 08/04/2009 11:48

bloody hell fury. can you book them on some coach trips to the furthers corners of the UK so they can "see England"? for about 5 weeks?

your day sounds lovely Norty. I did finish my course, and am meant to be signing up for a short maths course, then a science one. But haven't done it yet! I will though, I feel I owe it to DS1 (that makes no sense to anyone but me). He has decided he wants to be a teacher!!!

right, DS2 & I made easter nests, and buns, and have DS1s birthday cake in the oven

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/04/2009 12:18

I agree some trips out for your ILs may be the way to go Fury.

Ria, am impressed by easter nests and cake making!

I went to the gym this morning and then we went to the playground. And now Jamlet is meant to be having a nap (but hasn't settled yet) and the Sainsburys delivery should be here soon. I'm hoping it arrives before I have to get her up. But I don't want the doorbell going and waking her, so I am forced to sit in the front room and MN where I can keep an eye out for the van, instead of cleaning the oven Xmas Grin

Riallytoofattoflounce · 08/04/2009 12:37

good move jammy. If I cleaned ours it would fall apat I think. I have to prop the door shut with a stool sometimes.

The cake is a bit flat (I think the tins were too big) but will be fine when iced with the chocolate icing. I might splash out on a flake to crumble over it.

baggins is most disgusted we aren't playing outside, but there is a gale force wind and he empties the contents of the water butt over himself quicker than I can blink. DS2 has gine round to the GPs to play with his cousins. we have to collect DS1 from the magic workshop later, and be amazed by the tricks he does

though, DS1s birthday present did not come in the post. Serves me right for buying it from ebay I suppose.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2009 13:47

My DS1 is being such a lovely little lad this week that maybe staying at home isn't looking so bad after all. I have been angling at the children's centre for some voluntary work as I quite like the idea of being a teaching assistant....good holidays

Went to an easter craft session at the children's centre and I they made cards, easter baskets, butterflies and painted eggs. Not sure who had the most fun

I have P&Q this afternoon though. DS1 and DD are off to the PILs so it's just me and bumble. I'm just having a cuppa and some chocolate before getting cracked on with laundry putting away and sorting out things that no longer fit.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/04/2009 14:26

Easter crafts sound nice Daisy Your jacket is in the post by the way. Sorry it had to wait until today.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2009 14:29

thank you very very much jammy . I'll get a cheque in the post to you.....how much was it altogether?
I've finally got round to ordering a new strap for my watch.....it broke nearly a year and a half ago!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/04/2009 14:44

It's £9 to you my dear

TheNatty · 08/04/2009 14:54

nightmare morning, i think i jinxed tom yesterday saying he has been much better.
and although DH finished work monday, he is filming for uni all week, so i am still on my tod

least he will be home to snuggle up to tonight, tho we had ellen in bed with us all night last night.
DH was in charge of settling her, she screamed for ages before settling. i go in there at midnight to check on them before going to bed.. she'd done a poo. so i had to wake her to get this nappy off her (which had dried on and was bamboo with no liner so it was litrally STUCK to her) and she cried so much i felt awful for not going up and checking on her earlier. silly me to trust DH would think to check hey nappy

Riallytoofattoflounce · 08/04/2009 18:32

arse. DH is not coming home til tomorrow, having had to swap his shifts because someone else has a job interview. He has the other bit of DS1s birthday present in the car Bugger.

Ohforfoxsake · 08/04/2009 19:39

arse for you Ria!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/04/2009 20:24

Sorry Ria, I've lost track - is today DS's birthday?

Ohforfoxsake · 08/04/2009 20:51

so quiet tonight ....

LackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2009 21:00

helloooo, I'm here

arse ria....is it his birthday tomorrow?

Had a late tea and betime tonight. FIL didn't bring the DC back until after six....and they hadn't given them anything to eat. Obviously bringing them back after teatime doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does me. Five fecking hours they had them and in that time all they had to eat was a chocolate biscuit . Cue miserable, cranky, overtired, hungry children.

Just watching SrAlan...love it

I' here, I've just spent nearly 3 hours reading the starsnstripes thred

I have the kids to put to bed now but will be back as I'm on my own tonight.

yes, it is DS1s birthday tomorrow.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 08/04/2009 22:06

I have decided to write a personalised riddle/poem as a softener for my crapness-

Happy birthday DS1! You are 12 years old today!
Although your presents are not here, they?re not that far away.
As I told you yesterday, Dad has one for you -
He?s got it in the car with him!
But here?s a little clue
Of what else we have in store for you, your other birthday treat:
It could be something cool to wear, or something nice to eat?

and now I'm stuck. but I'll get there.

Just have to hope that the GPs post their card through the letterbox tonight and don't decide to pop round at breakfast time.

pah, daisy. Maybe they are secret Mnetters and didn't dare take them to McDs?

Riallytoofattoflounce · 08/04/2009 22:33

and this is the end bit-

I?d like to leave a list of clues for you to hunt it down
But that would be impossible as it?s nowhere to be found.
You might have to wait a little while -
I really hope you can
And then your present should arrive
(with the help of a certain van!)
Maybe it?s a boring book that you could read in bed
Or a shiny bike to ride on (and to clutter up the shed)
It might be educational, vintage or fun -
You can decide on that for yourself when it finally comes.
So to end this poem quickly (cos it?s going on a bit)
Your birthday present?s on it?s way and we really hope you like it.
We hope it will be worth the wait
And when it does arrive
It will make up for the day so far and be a nice surprise.
That?s the birthday message from your really sorry Mum.
I hope you have a special day and that it?s lots of fun.

will it pass or is it a bit ?

Riallytoofattoflounce · 08/04/2009 22:48

tweaked it, printed out with a picture of the home guard (!) on it and job done

I feel better now.

Had better tidy up a bit!

Riallytoofattoflounce · 08/04/2009 23:51

seriously funny thread

LittleMissNorty · 09/04/2009 08:20

Ahhhh Ria - that was lovely. You're very clever - I'm complete shit at things like that! What did you get him?

Happy birthday to him

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 08:53

Wow Ria, that's brilliant . And I hope it made the present arrival more exciting rather than him being a bit disappointed that it isn't here yet. You are a clever mummy

Happy Birthday to DS1

miserable and wet here with grumpy children . DS1 is back to his default whinge mode, DD is being.....a little sh1t challenging and poor bumble is traumatised after DD hit him on the head with the TV control when he was feeding (she and DS1 were fighting over it, and I'd like to think it was an accident, but that's the secind time in two days he has borne the brunt of her tantrums ). I wouldn't be surprised if he never wants to nurse again, poor wee soul.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 09/04/2009 09:27

thanks he thought it was funny, and now thinks he's getting the Dads Army DVD boxset. I actually got him a cheap and fairly ancient laptop from ebay (that I am worried scik about in case it doesn't arrive/doesn't work/is full of dodgy porn etc). I couldn't face another £25 of Indiana Jones/Star Wars lego and we got him one of those £10 laptop cases from M'sons to make up for it being late. so have spent double what I usually do for birthdays

wehad eggy bread for breakfast too, so he's well happy atm.

great day here to daisy/ Have DS2 howling on the sofa with earache, emergency GP appt later, an have cancelled his dentist appt this afternoon. having frantic baths now so we're all ready to go our separate ways. Looks like DS1s birthday treat might get postponed. And it's raining.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 09/04/2009 09:30

oh and baggins is bouncing on him to cheer him up
