Well, there's no crawling going on in our house, but there's defo some separation anxiety bawling going on .... tears, screaming, the works - oh joy!

I'm 39 and definitely look it - too much wine I think!

becaroo · 22/05/2009 14:27

carrie My Af have been AWFUL since I had ds2 too. I have never really had PMT before but I sure as hell get it now....

Sunshinemummy · 22/05/2009 14:28

I've only had one and it was the heavist, most sticky one ever. I had to get the super super tampons out!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/05/2009 14:38

Lordy, we had the worst night last night since the early days of newborn hell. M was up from 8.30pm - 12.30pm. He was happy being held, but as soon as you put him down he wailed. When he eventually dropped off he slept from 12.30-7.30, probably because he was exhausted. I think it was teeth.

I made a great purchase this week. Matalan are selling a two pack of summer sleepsuits for £4. The have the poppers up the front and around the crotch, and come to the knee and the elbow. They are great for M as his room gets so hot. On the warm days so far this year his bedroom has got up to 23 degrees, so god knows what it's going to be like in high summer.

ILTMIMI Gap do some gorgeous shorts & t-shirt style pjs for kids. DD and DS both have a few pairs. Not as cheap as Matalan though.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/05/2009 14:51

I do love Gap but I have to travel about 30 miles to get to one which makes their stuff even more expensive! I also liked the Matalan suits as they are a one piece instead of two. M has got some top and short pj's but he manages to get them twisted with his cot shenanigans.

No Matalan near me, but Sainsbos are doing 25% off clothes until Monday, so a £6 3-pack of sleepsuits was only £4.50.

A is getting ever faster at escaping and rotating during nappy changes - will have to switch to one-piece nappies at this rate. At least it's summer so doesn't really matter if he then explores the dining room wearing only a nappy! It's now pretty crawling-baby-safe, but not sure it's all safe from him - FIL's computer mouse was very tasty, apparently...

MrNC was supposed to have today off after marathon 12-hour days all week. He had a lie-in, but then had to work. As he's gone for a haircut that means he'll be working a good 2 hours this evening. Sulk.

Sunshinemummy · 22/05/2009 15:55

Will not be around for next week as off to Wales. Have a good one all!

ILTMIMI I think the not wanting to be put down when teething thing is because they generate extra saliva, it collects in the back of the throat if they are lying down, then they have trouble breathing/swallowing, etc. I think that's what someone tried to explain to us when DD's first two teeth came through. Sorry, my recollection is a bit hazy as I was not getting a lot of sleep at the time...

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/05/2009 18:12

Thanks Ponymum, I know what you're trying to say

Fingers crossed for a better night x

Hi everyone, been trying to catch up with all the gossip! I've been busy doing my bf peer supporter training and applying for lots of teaching jobs. No luck with jobs so far but I'll keep trying.

Katie is crawling around and seems to be learning new tricks every day. Today she figured out how to go from being on her tummy to sitting up. She looked very pleased with herself.

splishsplosh · 22/05/2009 22:15

Thank you NC and Carrie for your consoling words - must have just had an off day!

Debs75 · 22/05/2009 22:41

Robyn hates being put on her back for a nappy change but will quite happily lay on her mat and play.
Brushed her new tooth tonight and she took the brush out of my hand and did it herself.

Having a sad day our cat has been savaged by a dog/fox not sure which and has probably been hit by a car as well. She has broken her back leg and has bite marks on her body. She is at PDSA waiting to be operated on.
I am really stressed about her and have eaten loads since we took her in. I always eat when stressed and at this rate will need my maternity jeans tomorrow.

Sassyfrassy · 22/05/2009 22:46

Sorry to hear about your cat Debs, it's always distressing when something like that happens.

I'm quite impressed with Robyn brushing her tooth herself. Reminds me that I really should get a toothbrush for Katie's 2mm tooth =)

ninja · 23/05/2009 08:16

off camping in northumberland today

sorry about the cat debs, we can do {{{hugs}}} for cats can't we?

I'm 38 too (waits for carrie to say equally kind words .....))

new thread name?

Hopefully · 23/05/2009 08:54

I'm only 26!

Been away in London this weekend - visited the V&A with a friend, then had my meeting with work about going back - all very complicated, will post in full about it later.

Sorry about your cat Debs> Hope operation goes well.

T also snotty. Astonishingly has not woken in the night though - he hasn't had a night waking since he first decided to sleep through 2.5 weeks ago, despite sprouting 2 teeth and having a cold . I am convinced he is saving up all the wakings for the future.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/05/2009 09:34

Hopefully, I've got one thing to say about your age 'shut up'

Ninja you're NEVER 38!!! Seriously, were you doing A-levels when I was in primary school???!!!! Clearly being a kick-ass ninja is the secret to eternal youth!
hopefully i'm still on the same side of 30 as you but clinging on by the skin of my teeth! Acutally I've just realised that its 9 months til my 30th, I could grow a whole new baby before then!

Ds had his first swimming lesson this morning, he loved it and did brilliantly although the teacher told dh off for throwing ds too high in the air!!

My drama was that while out at chum's house last night (drinking rioja and doing scrapbooking ) I got my contact lens stuck down the side of my eye. I eventually went to bed having tried to ring NHS direct and googling what to do about it, but this morning I popped to specsavers just to get it checked. The guy couldn't find the lens anywhere, says the on-going soreness is from too much poking around trying to get it out! One of the times I rinsed my eyes out I must have flushed out the lens without even realising.

CarrieBo · 23/05/2009 19:31

All together now 'carrie is a threadkiller, threadkiller threadkiller, carrie is a threadkiller, la la la la la la...'

Ponymum · 23/05/2009 20:38

Carrie I'm here! Thread still alive.

Meglet · 23/05/2009 20:53

Hope your cat is better soon debs, poor thing .

DD's first tooth has come through, so I bought her a pink toothbrush and I give it a little brush everyday. She thinks its hilarious.

We have had an unusually relaxing day as mum + stepdad took us out for an Italian meal early this evening then helped me with bath + bedtime. I've been really run down for the last 6 weeks and have realised I need some help everyday from my family or I'm never going to get better, and I've got to get better for my hysterectomy in 9 weeks.

hopefully I am very of your V&A visit. I have been meaning to take the dc's to london but still haven't managed it, I need to rope my sister into it, she is always bursting with energy as she doesn't have any children yet.

Ponymum · 23/05/2009 20:55

We have just had the most fabulous barbecue in the lovely sunsine. DD had some milk then played on a rug on the grass, while DH did fab things with charcoal and steak. Perfect! (There may have been some rose involved.) It was our first real barbecue as a "family". I like being a family! It's fun.

digitalgirl · 23/05/2009 21:16

pacita think I can do the 4th, definitely can't do the 11th (production deadline). How's your retrun to work going?

carriebo have done the lost-lens-that-I-didn't-realise-was-lost thing before, it's very painful.

Have just posted a thread asking how late first tooth can appear, 18 months apparently! Poor poor DS has potentially got another 9 months of chewing on the table edge.

Feeling both guilty and thrilled today after going on a massive shopping spree. DH let me buy a ridiculously expensive dress for the wedding we're going to. So I had to buy a scarf to wear with it and of course some shoes. Then we bought DS a little outfit to wear plus a new mattress for his travel cot. Really looking forward to our little trip now!

splishsplosh · 23/05/2009 21:28

Sorry about your cat Debs - fingers crossed that the operation goes well. Must be really worrying time

Dd2 has a really horrible cough, even coughing up some mucus sometimes. Took her to the doctors as the long weekend was coming up, but they thought she was ok, just to keep eye on breathing etc. A friend's little boy had to go to a&e the other day with croup and needed steroid treatment & was told they're seeing a lot of children with that at the moment.
