Welcome ladies

Well, there's no crawling going on in our house, but there's defo some separation anxiety bawling going on .... tears, screaming, the works - oh joy!

Sounds like everyone had a lovely saturday . We went for a nice walk down the canal near us, then went to a friend's house for prosecco (sp?) and nibbles, before coming back and stuffing our faces with pizza

T is still in this really annoying habit of waking at 6, feeding for aaaages (mostly because I refuse to do anything else at that hour), having 20 minutes awake time and then having a nap at around 8am. It's a pain in the neck, but having tried blacking out his room, changing the time the hot water comes on etc, I'm stuck for how to stop him waking so early. It doesn't seem to matter whether he goes to bed at 7pm or 8:30pm, he still wakes at 6 on the dot, and did so while we were away this week too.

Pacita · 24/05/2009 11:30

hopefully, diego was doing that, but we refused to pick him up. We went in in turns, gave him his dummy, shushed and patted, and now he goes back to sleep till after 7 or does not wake up at all.

Having said that, black out material really helped...

Pacita · 24/05/2009 11:39

Aha! Digital the 4th sounds good! Notcitrus and Star can you do the 4th for the north london meet up?

As to the return to work, it's been somewhat failed, as the settling sessions in nursery have not concluded. I need to work in a couple of proposals next week, so taking bubs into the office with me... Very professional, I know.

CarrieBo · 24/05/2009 14:04

Ds has started waking early too, and his room has always been blacked out! I heard him at 3 but ignored and he went back to sleep, then the next time it was that his head was wedged against the top of the cot and he was screaming.
I need the strength to do the ignoring til 7 thing!

This morning we invited some friends from church to join us in a picnic at the park, but they can't come and invited us to their BBQ instead, result, they're amazing cooks!

digitalgirl · 24/05/2009 16:14

DS woke us up extra early today. About 5:00. Managed to keep him horizontal in our bed till about 6am then he started proper clambering, so DH took him downstairs. After half an hour of dozing on the playmat and DS getting a bit whiffy, realised he couldn't see his changing bag. Then saw the laptop was gone. Then saw the front door was ajar. Car gone. Mobiles gone. Wallets gone. We were burgled downstairs while we were asleep.

Stupid insurance tells us we're not covered for 'security' so won't send out a locksmith to replace the locks. So my dad's gone to Wickes to buy us some locks and will replace them himself. In the meantime we're stuck at home. DS's buggy was in the boot, so he has no wheels either. It's so depressing. I also hate the insurance company, how are you supposed to know that 'having locks replaced' is extra????

Hopefully · 24/05/2009 16:27

Oh DG you poor thing, how awful. Do you think DS heard something and woke up? Hope the insurance company at least manages to cough up for everything else.
Will you be able to replace things immediately or will you have to wait until insurance gives you the go ahead? No spare pram here (tragically ) but if you haven't got a sling or something you can use/cadge from a local friend I can post you a wrap sling or a baby bjorn to borrow.

Pacita what a pain about nursery. I'm sure you'll be forgiven for working with baby for a little while!

Had a really nice day today - went to some free promo Fat Face thing at Goodwood racetrack. We walked round the track with the pram and got a prize!

digitalgirl · 24/05/2009 16:36

thanks hopefully we've got a wilkinet so that'll do till we find out if we're allowed to start buying stuff or if we have to wait for the insurance company to replace it all. I do wonder if DS heard something, it might explain why they only took stuff from the front room and didn't pick up the expensive bags of shopping in the kitchen. Am just so thankful that they didn't come upstairs, or that one of us wasn't downstairs trying to get DS back to sleep at the time. God knows what could have happened.

Ponymum · 24/05/2009 16:45

Oh digigirl! That's awful! I am so mad at the insurance company for you. What a stupid and cruel thing to do. They must know that people will get caught out by that. Feel free to name and shame them if it makes you feel any better at all - we won't mind. The good thing is you are all safe.

Have been browsing around property today. Don't ask me why - we are mad. Please repeat: ponymum get off the property search websites.

Hopefully · 24/05/2009 17:41

Have just realised I have an attractive pink stripe where my t-shirt didn't quite meet my trousers while walking round the race track today. I'm so classy

Ponymum I also occasionally give into the urge to search property websites. DP and I have pretty much not decided to buy any time soon - we are saving to buy/build an eco-house, and probably won't buy until we are in a position to do that. Doesn't stop me being tempted by lovely houses though!
How is your recovery going, by the way?

T (who, as I may have mentioned, is a teensy bit lazy) has just executed a triple roll across the sitting room floor to get at the TV remote - the lure of forbidden toys!

Ponymum · 24/05/2009 19:42

hopefully oh, no, the dreaded pink candy stripe! I have suffered plenty. I am cursed with lily white skin that ends up with angry pink patches in bizarre places unless I put the sunblock on in a non-stop super-even covering from top to toe. Hmmph.

Thanks for asking re the recovery. The pain is much better since I came out of hospital, but I still can't pick up DD, which is proving to be serious complication to getting on with life!

You sound the same as us re houses: we would love to build our own, currently in rented with the proceeds of our sale burning a hole in the pocket. I had an idea we could get a bigger house for less money, but once we started looking we went a bit mental with the choices. We have to keep saying to each other, we can just stay here and chill you know.

Debs75 · 24/05/2009 20:31

Digi You poor thing what a shock. Hope you manage to get the insurance sorted quick. Do you know how they got in?

Thanks for all your hugs, cat is still at PDSA, they can't operate until her swelling goes down so she is sedated and on painkillers. I know it is daft but it feels like one of the kids is poorly. Our dog is missing her as well.

As you have been on the subject af age I am 33 and my dd1 just turned 13 a mum at swimming said I didn't look old enough last week. Am hoping she meant i am youthful looking and not just some gymslip mum.

Robyn is laid on the floor pretending to poo. She is making all the noises but none of the effort. Think she is only doing it to make dp laugh, what a tart

Kagey · 24/05/2009 21:25

Digi so sorry to hear about the burglary I hope the insurance company sort it all out for you.

I have been doing a 'spot' of gardening today and am so achey so I am off to have a lovely bath after Come dine with me finishes on TV. Also I had the in-laws around for 7 hours so my head is spinning.

Fortunately it has knackered Erin out, and she is fast asleep upstairs (along with DH).

Debs hope your cat will be ok soon!

digitalgirl · 24/05/2009 21:32

debs hope your cat gets better.
They got in through the front door. We hadn't double locked it with the mortis lock so they just manaaged to slip the yale lock. Everyone double lock your doors tonight!

The car being stolen is the biggest pain in the arse. Am worried now after starting another thread about it that we could be massively out of pocket and that we'll have to find some more money to replace it with a similar car.

ponymum and hopefully are we going to see you on Grand Designs?! My DH does handmade bespoke kitchens, so just let me know when you need him to give you a quote!

Meglet · 24/05/2009 23:04

digital what an awful thing to happen . Hope you get everything back to normal soon.

This warm weather is gorgeous isn't it! I put dd to bed in just her bodysuit so I'm going to sneak in shortly and put her 0.5 tog gro-bag on her so she's cosy in the night.

Pacita · 25/05/2009 10:51

Morning everyone.

Digital hope things are getting sorted with the insurance, and you all have recovered from the shock. It's so bloody horrible to have someone come into your home.

Have you spoken to the police? I have to say, they have not been very helpful for me with past thefts, but hell, they should take braking and entering very seriously, specially with a small child in the house!

barnpot · 25/05/2009 12:06

thats crap digital, hope you get things sorted I know its a PITA just trying to get things back to normal.
well what a lovely day again, we just don't know what to do with it. had a nice bbq with ma and pa yesterday.
think we are going to need a new thread soon any name suggestions?

becaroo · 25/05/2009 15:59

DG hope you are all getting over the shock x

debs Sorry about your cat....hope she is on the mend soon x

CALLING ALL SLING & CARRIER EXPERTS....is there a carrier that could go on my dh back for Toby without me nedding to sell a kidleny to pay for it? Would there be any on ebay? He LOVES being carried but is SO heavy now the close carrier is no longer an option (although it says you can carry babies of 35lbs in it!!!! - my 5 year old only weighs 40lbs!!!!) and we could like something a bit sturdier for travelling this summer....any ideas?

Not done much this bank hol....been let down by some family members (mine) yet again... I dont mind them upsetting me, but I am damned of they are going to do it to my kids again

Dh and ds1 out all day tomroow so time for some mum and baby bonding (poor ds2, he'll hate it!!!)

Ponymum · 25/05/2009 17:11

digigirl - hope it's coming right and that you can sort things out re the car.
Grand Designs you ask? Ha, ha - perhaps when we win the lottery. And since I never buy a ticket that would be, er, um...
So do you have a nice kitchen?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/05/2009 18:14

I hope you can sort everything out with your insurers Digital girl, not that that can make things better, but it does help.

Titles?

Sept 08: They're under starters orders .... and they're off .... well, some of them!

Sept 08: Batten down the hatches, they're on the move!

digitalgirl · 25/05/2009 19:51

Thanks for your thoughts! Two people turned up with buggies for us to borrow and lots of friends have called to see if we're ok for stuff which is really really kind.

Went for a little walk to the shops today with DS in borrowed buggy. Felt almost normal. Tomorrow DH will deal with all the insurers and find out how much they intend to drag out processing an claims before screwing us over (feeling pessimistic).

However on a positive note, we got a call from CID today saying that the burglary matches a series of burglaries in the area and they think they know who did it, just waiting to collect more evidence before arresting him. So that made me feel happier!

ILTMIMI I like the first one!

ponymum I've had my kitchen for 3 years now so I'm quite blase about it, but we did it on the cheap when we built an extension so it's Ikea carcasses with bespoke doors. But people still comment on it when they come round which reminds to appreciate it!

Meglet · 25/05/2009 20:20

ILTMIMI I like both the new thread titles.

DD is so mobile I've had to put the playpen across the patio doors so she can't crawl out over the step and crack her head on the patio. That way she can watch me and ds in the garden but doesn't get frazzled in the sun. I've been letting her crawl around the garden once it gets shady in the afternoon though, she's fascinated by the guinea pigs. Maybe she thinks she is one .

digital pleased to know the police might be able to arrest someone and you have got your friends rallying round.

Kagey · 25/05/2009 21:04

ILTMIMI I like both too I have no imagination when it comes to thread titles so glad you do!

Erin is terrorising the floor now and is getting quicker crawling. We have a stair gate just in case but so far she has not ventured too near the living room door.

She is also standing properly now (aided by furniture, cot and my legs) and seems far from the little helpless baby 8 months ago.

Digi I hope they catch the person soon and may even be able to recover some of your stuff.

Ponymum · 25/05/2009 21:14

Wow, hopefully! The police catching burglars? It's a miracle. Now just the insurance company to come through. I really sympathise with your battle, but maybe they'll be good to you . I have had both good and bad experiences with insurance claims. Let's hope yours is one of the good ones. They broke your lock, fgs. We don't even have a double lock.

IMLTMIMI I like the second thread suggestion. We certainly need to do some battening down of hatches here. We believe that DD may have officially started crawling today! She has been close to crawling for ages now, but always gets one leg stuck underneath her when she tries to take a step. But today she got herself totally on all fours and - gasp - took one whole step before falling over! (I don't know why we're excited about this as it will make life much trickier from here on. )

NEW THREAD HERE

OP posts:
DebiTheScot · 26/05/2009 19:48

back from hol and in the process of catching up so will post a few things before I forget them.

Carrie yes I'm doing 1 bf a day and it's going fine. I'm still not sure if I should only ever give 1 side and give up on the other or offer alternate sides each day though. I'm doing alternate sides but can never remember which side I should be on.
I am also guilty of heating feeds up in the microwave. But only before I add the powder so the shaking once it's added will take away any heat spots.

meglet yes very wriggly baby here too. Forbidden toys and the Thomas song sometimes work but not always.

ILTMIMI I like those short romper suits too and £4 for 2 is a bargain. Cheapest I found was £9 for 2 I think. They were great on holiday as shorts and tshirts always seemed to end up with a gap round his tummy when he was picked up or in the buggy so the romper suits meant no worrying about suncream on tummy. And yes they'll be good for sleeping in when it gets hot.
