plusonemore · 25/03/2009 11:15

yes i know i thought that. My gut feeling is its ok, he gets funny ideas sometimes and he is quite stubborn. Gonna keep a quiet close eye on it though...

DebiTheScot · 25/03/2009 11:34

why do they wake up just as you turn the computer on?????????

Jenbot · 25/03/2009 11:58

digitalgirl I guessed I'm suffering because Clara has been biting me, so I've been taking her off when she does it, which means I'm limiting her time at the breast... Or, she's been up so much at night I tried to feed her laying down, and probably didn't get the latch right.
But who knows!

becaroo, hope Toby is OK.
lolly, congrats on the nephew!

I'm sorry I missed the weird page!

I think we're going to venture out today, we seem to have avoided measles - phew!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/03/2009 12:42

My boobs have been all over the place too. Mostly full and uncomfortable.

I keep offering M feeds, but he really doesn't want much in the daytime. It's like a switch has been flicked. One day he was ok with just milk all day, then all of a sudden now food has come along milk just doesn't seem to hit the spot anymore.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if he is down to only a couple of feeds within the next month or so, which is quite a bit quicker than I had anticipated.

becaroo my ds had bronchiolitis last month. As I understood it, the worry is if their breathing is too laboured and its too much effort to feed. So nappy output is your main indicator of whether you need further medical help. Plenty of wet nappies means he's still feeding. When we were in hospital ds's blood oxygen levels were borderline for being admitted, and he was working very hard to breathe, but because he fed well and did big colourless wees they were happy to let him home. Bronchiolitis is a virus so ABs won't touch it I'm afraid, but if there's also a bacterial infection then they'll help.

plusone good work on the sleeping! I read your update yesterday but didn't have time to post.

Can't believe I missed the wonky thread, sounds like fun!

CarrieBo · 25/03/2009 13:17

ILTMIMI ds is like that with milk at meal times, he's down to only three feeds a day - first thing, after long nap, and before bed. Any other time he refuses it, but he has breakfast lunch and dinner and I offer him water at those so I think he's ok.

ninja · 25/03/2009 16:30

i missed the dodgy thread - oh no!

working tomorrow

plusonemore · 25/03/2009 16:59

thanks carrie I hope something good happens tonight cos I have the inlaws here from Thurs and I am worried I may be tempted to give in while they are here!!

To the people who missed the wonky thread- you didnt miss much. It was just 2/3 blank on the left and then everything squished onto the right, very dull really

Ponymum · 25/03/2009 17:21

ILTMIMI lol at your boobs being all over the place! That really does sound uncomfortable.

I am also upset that I totally missed the crazy thread. It sounds like it would have introduced a level of excitement into my life that would have been the highlight of my week.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/03/2009 18:17

ha ha ha, I probably could have phrased that a bit better, couldn't I?!

Good luck for tomorrow ninja

Dull comment alert: Boots are selling their own brand baby stock cubes that are organic and lower in salt than normal stock cubes. There are veg, chicken and beef.

Is this what my life is reduced to?!

Sadder still, I was quite excited when I saw these stock cubes [sigh]

Thanks!

It's only this Thursday and next Tuesday for now, but have just started to feel nervous as they're big presentations that I'm giving so in at the deep end.

ILTMIMI - I know what you mean, I get excited abou the oddest things too.

Meglet · 25/03/2009 20:11

becaroo how is Toby this evening (asleep and much better I hope!)

DD has kept milk and water down all day, but she goes crazy when I try to feed her, so as suggested by the HV I just left her with few bits of toast, brocolli and rice cakes with puree on it, she didn't eat that much but it kept her amused. We have GP's in the morning just in case I'm missing something, she was tugging at her ear so maybe she has an ear infection making her crabby.

I am having a wonderful time with ex P kicking off, he is constantly harrassing me so the police have suggested i get a non-molestation order out on him (injuction), so now i have to decide what to do. And to top it all (and make my year truly memorable ) I'll probably be having a hysterectomy later in the year. My smears are not right (and have been a bit dodgy for 5 years) so as I'm not planning anymore children the consultant thinks it would be a sensible thing to do. My cervix is so damaged by the other ops he can't see to do a decent smear anymore, God knows what might be happening without us knowing. I suppose it's the same as women with breast cancer in the family having a mastectomy. I'm scared of having a general anaesthetic now I have kids, but TBH I'm more scared of getting cancer and dying so I think I'll have the op. But he said there's no urgency so I am aiming to have it done in the late summer / autumn once DD is older. I am trying to see the positive side, i was wondering if my tummy would be flatter as there'll be less in there afterwards . Shallow? me?!

Glad to hear your dd is getting better Meglet.

Sorry to hear about the hassles with your dp. If you get an injunction will that stop him seeing the children too? What a hard decision for you to have to make. And then the hysterectomy on top of all that, blimey. FWIW I would make the same decision as you have. My mum had one in her early 30's, much for the same reasons as you. She went through the menoupause (sp?!) earlier than most, but she never regretted her decision.

Have you got people sorted to look after you and the kids for your recovery period? That will be v important [stern]

Meglet · 25/03/2009 20:21

carrie I have already consumed a packet of very yummy italian biscuits from morrisons (of all places!), they're Crema al Cocoa biscuits. I have to scoff them out of the sight of DS .

Meglet · 25/03/2009 20:24

ILTMIMI my ovaries will be staying in, but I won't get periods anymore! The injunction will still allow ex P to come here and see the children, he just can't behave like an idiot and threaten, harass me etc etc. I'm mulling it over and it's a big step to take, but I don't think i'll get any sense out of him until I do it.

becaroo · 25/03/2009 20:32

meglet So sorry to hear of your troubles with your ex-p If the harrassment is getting bad, then an injunction sounds the sensible thing to do, but just becasue its sensble that doesnt make it any easier, does it?

My dsis is having her hysterectomy in late summer this year too - she is so fed up of the pain and I think her trip to hospital over the weekend finally made her realise its got to be soon.

Toby has not been too happy this evening but think its tiredness - let him stay up as nanny and pop were here so its my own fault. He has fed much better today, down to 4 feeds per day though. Tried him with finger food (rice cake) last saturday but because he has 2 teeth now he just bit off a big chunk and choked Might be a while before he (i.e.me) is ready I think!

Sending you some virtual pralines meglet x
(but not the hazlenut ones, I've had them!!)

becaroo · 25/03/2009 20:34

carriebo The GP said Toby was breathing very fast, but he does seem to be feeding again now....also seems happier generally. If he is no better on friday I will take him back. Continue with the AB's or not? GP said to but as I understand it is a viral illness?

ninja · 25/03/2009 20:45

If you've started AB's you have to finish them. If they are fighting any bugs, they'll just have a chance to become resistent to the AB's and come back worse if you stop before the course is ended. 'Tis v important you finish them I'm afraid

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/03/2009 22:35

bookmarking... keep on "losing" you lot!

anyway, sorry meglet about your xp... putting you in such a hard position, and on top of that having to think about the op... have another packet of biscuits!

and feel better reading about others' milk issues, as DD too seems to take less. and last night and the night before didn't take any, so gave her less solids tonight so she had a good feed. but we don't really have a feed mid-morning anymore... still, she loves her food!

Hopefully · 25/03/2009 22:41

Pah, after 4 nights of not waking for a feed till 2am, T has randomly just woken for a feed. Sometimes I don't understand my baby!

Meglet sorry to hear about you having to make decisions about your XP and about operation as well - must be ridiculously difficult to stay sane along with looking after 2 children!

T barely seems to be decreasing his milk feeds at all, despite taking in a reasonable quantity of solids. He occasionally has a slightly smaller feed either mid-morning or after lunchtime nap, but basically still feeds the same amount. Hoping he doesn't decide to cut back till he's cut out the night feeds really!

ILTMIMI I was actually just looking for low salt stock cubes in waitrose today, so thanks for the tip!

plusonemore · 26/03/2009 06:53

ILTMIMI I can sympathise re: stock cube excitement. I have been insanely excited about a new sainsburys opening up the road and actually went twice yesterday!!

Meglet isnt it crazy that you have to get a piece of paper to stop him behaving like an arse?!

becaroo also the doctor gave alfie antiBs to stop him getting a secondary infection

ninja godd luck today!!!

better night here Alfie only woke at 5, w\as asleep again by half past, then awake chatting happily at 6.15. Pretty pretty pleeeeeaaaaase let it continue...

Hopefully · 26/03/2009 08:57

Gah, random crap night. Isn't it annoying how when every night is crap, you kind of get used to it, but when you have a few good nights, a crap night leaves you feeling like death warmed up? It wasn't horrendous, but he needed lots of resettling from 2-3am, having fed at 10:30, then fed again at 4, and needed more resettling to get through to 6:50am, when he decided it was definitely time to get up. Ah well. Perhaps he'll revert to nice sleeping tonight.

Meglet · 26/03/2009 10:01

We had a slightly crap night too. DD woke up 3 times, most annoyingly at 6am, but I did manage to settle her down so I could eat breakfast in peace. She's a lot better today and eating again, but I'm taking her to the doc's in an hour just to get her checked. Now it's DS's turn to be a PITA, he just pulled out loads of cd's and started re-organising them, so I dashed into the room to sort it out and he then grabbed and sprayed the window cleaning bottle I had been using . He's in his room with the child gate across it so I can have 5 mins peace and get ready. . Hope everyone has a nice day today,it's a bit rainy down here though.
