Soph73 · 30/03/2009 13:46

Thanks PFJ & Peachy.

Peachy - is a blue badge a disabled badge for the car? Over here you can get them at the drop of a hat. We could get one if we wanted. I did think about it but I'm lazy enough as it is without being able to park right outside shops

PFJ - yep, my patience was at the end of its tether towards the end. Especially as DH was being a bit of a knobber about me having to take more time off work for another appointment. However, after I'd told him that he could criticise once he started arranging all the appointments, taking Sam to the appointments, driving over 600kms every week, etc he was a lot nicer about the situation I also got a text message to say he loved me, which is unheard of

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/03/2009 13:48

Sigh.

Mimi is going doctors tomorrow, I'm just not sure enough that its 'just' a cold, its been 7 days now, temps, calpol, gunky eyes, and OMG the whinging.....i just want them to check ears, eyes and tonsils incase any infections. Wish i was still BF, she never got ill then and would bypass everyone elses shite.

I'm doing ok without DH, though woke up at 430am for the day. When i wake up in the night when dh is here i just find him and go back to sleep

He flys tonight at 2025 and will be in bangkok 1140 am tomorrow. Its 31c there the git.

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/03/2009 13:49

Soph - luck for Sam's money, & loving your use of word Knobber. it's so fab.

Also Happy Birthday to P&L's little girl

Peachy · 30/03/2009 14:10

Soph yep parking badge: here its automatic if you get higher rate mobility (theoretically possible for ASD but very rare- ds3 mets the criteria but they avoid awarding it) otherwise individual council criteria- my councils is bhigher rate mobility

Soph73 · 30/03/2009 14:21

Hi Scorpio - I've never used the word knobber before and I feel slightly elated that I'm now not a knobber virgin Best of luck with Mimi's appointment. I just know I'm going to end up at the maternity hospital with Sam tomorrow so am going to pack food for me and Sam and a good book. That will really give DH something to moan about

It was my birthday Saturday & a real let down as our babysitter has got pneumonia so we couldn't go out to dinner . I also got my hair cut but don't like it and DH couldn't find what he wanted to get me for my birthday so I ended up with something else which I didn't want & I didn't even get a lay in as it was my day to get up with the boys However, we did go out to lunch yesterday so not all bad. I just so wanted to go out just DH and I as we haven't been out on our own in the evening for well over a year. Sorry for the rant. Hopefully we'll be able to get a babysitter for DH's birthday in April, fingers crossed.

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/03/2009 14:23

double Sigh.

Now they have delayed dhs flight by 35 minutes, leaving him 55 minutes in Bahrain before check-in closes and he is panicking

Soph73 · 30/03/2009 15:14

Scorpio - I'm sure he'll be fine, keeping my fingers crossed for him.

Last week of term this week so finishing at 3.35pm, yippee. Poor DH has got parents evening so won't get home till gone 7.30pm. Anyway, better go & tidy up. Hopefully I'll speak to you tomorrow morning. Please keep all fingers & toes crossed.

ThePFJ · 30/03/2009 17:00

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/03/2009 18:12

DH is at Heathrow now, all checked in

EllieG · 30/03/2009 19:52

Before I forget - belated and actual HAPPY BIRTHDAYS to -

Matteo
Pablo
Olivia
and PAL's LO

Soph!!!!! We missed you! Sorry you've been ill but is nice to have you back. I had chips the other night and I thought of you.....

Sorry Mimi is ill scorpio - you holding up OK without DH?

VS - cor, you look a bit foxy with yer new hair lady! V nice, suits you. Thanks for the MHAH tip, am rubbish at remembering who everyone is on FB as only know people by MN names.

MN can be an odd place in active convos, I tend to lurk and sometimes post and run away like a little 'fraidy cat. I used to post much more but can't be arsed with much more than this thread these days as am lazy.

Liking the sound of the easter bonnets ladies - am feeling the need for some crafty activity now - might force DSD to make some with me and just wear 'em round house LOL

LadyBee · 30/03/2009 20:12

What on earth is an easter bonnet? Are they one of those things you only get initiated into once you have kids?

Peachy, I'm into gardening too - I spend a happy couple of hours in the weekend potting up cuttings - have never done this before so am crossing fingers it works.

Happy Birthday to PAL's baby girl!

Soph, sorry to hear about your and Sam's illness, that sounds really rough.

Any news from Mr Scorpio?

My DP is cooking burgers and chips, yum yum.

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/03/2009 20:23

DH is all checked in, and flies in 30 minutes, i dont hear from him until he is in BKK at 1140 GMT tomorrow. eek!

VictorianSqualor · 30/03/2009 22:07

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pablo, Matteo and PAL's daughter (I've said HB to Olivia already haven't I?)

Just left Molly at nursery for another 2 hours. Yesterday she howled when I left, having just worked out that mummy is leaving her there. Today she didn't even wait for me to go - the lip was going as we sat down and tears as I stood up to be off. Oh goodness I'm so unhappy not sure I can take this
Rung the nursery and they said she is fine now (and yesterday when I got back she was happy) but am so worried this will do her some damage. Surely being so unhappy is going to harm her in some way?

Peachy · 31/03/2009 09:22

dybee fingers crossedon the cuttings- DS1 gets a volunter on a sundaafternoon atm, rather than let dh steal it I have grabbed it for me (garden) time- well thats the theory, dh needed so much tutoring with his shakespeare essay I may as well hasve written it (In hisdfence totor didnt read book with them- exam board declined first essaysastutorr cocked up play choice and they have ahd to rush an assignment out)

Bit ofa nightmare yeasterday- parents evening, the nt one is going to beassessed foradhd next ear if he hasnt settled down. No naughtiness- a delight- just cant sitstill or concentrate. Being head of the bizarre household I'd assumed that was normal
.... so dh and I officially have crap genesitseems.

EllieG · 31/03/2009 09:24

Sorry are you talking about Bas peachy? Seems hard to see if baby can sit still and concentrate - mine certainly can't. Or do you mean your DS3?

Peachy · 31/03/2009 09:36

No LOL_ ds2, 8 year old

ds1- AS / HFA; ds2- hmmmmm! ds3- ASD / SLI

(at fate not at you Ellie LOL)

ScorpiowithabigS · 31/03/2009 09:55

oooh VS i shall annoy you then . Your hair is fab, you really carry it off.

I need my hair changing BUT i have piles of it, really thick, but i feel like lopping it all off or going blonde or something.

ScorpiowithabigS · 31/03/2009 09:57

Oh Peachy, your genes aren't crap my lovely You will be fine, you're so strong.

AIBU to want to go thai boxing tonight just to perve??? my friend said she will come with me, would just need a sitter for 1.5 hours....

ScorpiowithabigS · 31/03/2009 10:00

Ellie - you sausage. She is not upset as in devasated or grief, she is momenatarily upset at you leaving, as from what i know you & M are quite close. Its good to ring and check, as if she is upset you can just pop back. She really will be ok, thats why nurseries have that settling in time as its so common for babies to be like this at first, it really is. I know that doesnt help you now though, i know how you feel, it almost feels selfish doesnt it.

If a nursery isnt suiting you, could you get a nanny or nanny share? I know nurseries aren't for everyone.

ScorpiowithabigS · 31/03/2009 10:05

oh and incase you are all so excited LOL

DH got into Bahrain and onto Bangkok flight with plenty of time, we text each other at 4am He said 'flight was great i watched 3 films and stuffed myself' - it would appear the food was all free and drinks, lol.

He will be in Bangkok at 1140GMT. I miss him!

TheShipsCat · 31/03/2009 10:17

Hi girls.
I got back last week and have been lurking trying to catch up with everything. Had a good but busy time in Thailand , and then a very interesting but quite tough holiday in Colombia. DD2 completely thrived - as if she'd been re-potted (those of you into gardening will know what I mean). She's now crawling, feeding herself, chatting, she's changed enormously. DD1 had a harder time - her skin is not suited to hot weather really, she got badly bitten, bad excema and fought almost constantly with our friend's 2 year old! But we had a lot of beach time, and pool time, she loved running around the streets and listening to all the salsa music. And we even managed to get a babysitter a few times and did some proper partying. only problem is we have all had jet lag since, so I am now completely knackered and need a holiday

Happy birthday to all the 1-yr olds!
Oma - congratulations on your teaching course - glad you can give up the job yuou hated!
VS - good luck with essay, and sorry to hear of your DP's GD.
Soph - tricky decision on the language and speech therapy thing. Hope you've managed to find an answer. And sorry to hear you've been ill.
Scorpio - he'll be back before you know it!
Ellie - dd1 cried for the first few months at nursery - I think its their way of just trying to make you feel guilty. The staff told me she always stopped as soon as I was out of earshot
LadyBee - good luck with the gardening. We sent all weekend sorting out the plants - looking forward to a good crop this year!
Sal - camping sounds good. But Lithuania also good. It's only a couple of hours on the bus from Latvia too - you could go to Riga as well, which is a bit more interesting but not as 'nice'.
Can't remember any more...!

Peachy · 31/03/2009 10:26

Scorpio I know, i as embarassed though as I think they thought I woud burst into tears but in fact I was struggling to hold back peals of laughter as it seemed so ridiculous IYSWIM? It's as if life seems stuck in a rut. But tbh I'm not that convinced and If they ever want a statement / etc for them they can go fight this one, i've enough to do, and don't want the LEA to think I waste their time for trivialities- as I genuinely think this is. ys a little extra help might be a bonus but that's it, IMO. Active as opposed to SN; no idea why they are so keen to label.
