Kayz WTF? What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Your MIL obviously has some truly mad ideas and should keep more of them to herself.

Effie am sorry the Queen let you down goddamit.

Jolly we don't put DD in the bumbo for long - they have to be pretty good at holding their head up and after a bit she starts to look uncomfortable. I think it was Veggie asking about whether they were any use or not - we used ours a lot for sticking DS in when we were visiting people, and then as a chair for feeding in. So got quite a lot of use. And good for you on jeans . Sympathise on muffin thing though - had horror the other day when I thought I had cellulite on my arms. Can that even be true? I'm not bigger than I used to be, but definitely fatter. Snore. Will have to do more exercise...

Ay me. Have yabbered on here all day (when not throwing money down drain) and house is a tip...must do something.

But before I go...I don't know if you need anything from mothercare but I've got a 10% discount code: JF9. I think it's valid until next week.

Kayz your MIL sounds a bit unhinged! You are gorgeous and TBH I didn't even notice what you were wearing when we met up! Like it matters!

lal - I was thinking you're not normally on here so much in the day - you must be avoiding something! Sorry about the horse. doh.

Have got comic relief on...am half watching, but really waiting to see if I can figure out who WG's dh is!

JJ - we've had an upside down day too! P has resisted sleep, refused her cot, fed at bizarre intervals, cried a lot, puked a lot - all quite odd and unusual. She fed at 5 so I just bathed after that while she was happy, then cuddled her, and she fell asleep in my arms at 6.15! I normally feed her at 6.30 then put her to bed. I just let her have a little snooze then woke her up and fed her then put her down to bed at 7, and she's not made a peep (yet!). I think you just have to go with their flow sometimes otherwise you're working against them. I think part of the reason she got so grumpy was because I was trying to make her stay awake longer so space her feeds out more, when I knew full well she was ready for a sleep!
am very hungry. DH has gone to buy a bookcase (like you do on a Friday night!) but has promised to come back with food! yay!

and Kayz - your MIL has no idea about any of us - what we do, what clothes we wear, whether we own our houses, how we are bringing our children up...it just seems like she's always trying to put you down. Not nice. Don't let her. And I hope you don't believe what she said because she's very wrong

Trace I can't remember what I was wearing either.

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 20:15

I haven't read next page but have just read Kayz post about her MIL. What is wrong with her that is just horrible, it's her that has the problem with housing estates clearly. Our old flat in London is ex-council and some people in the block are still n council places but it was the nicest most neighbourly and friendly place I've ever lived in, I don't think anyone there cares who is council and who is not. Kayz she is getting really nasty are you ok? To know it's not true don't you.

Right gotta read on.

LadyThompson · 13/03/2009 20:21

Just a quickie as I am only just back and don't want to neglect my lovely DP:

Kim, how utterly terrifying. Poor you. Glad all is ok....

Kayz - I hardly have to tell you, and I think I can speak on behalf of everyone, that your MiL is talking complete shit. Please ignore her. Furthermore, my dad is quite posh I must admit but my beloved mother was brought up in a council house and was one of ten. Yes, you did read that right. And she is amazing. I couldn't give a toss where anyone is from or what they do or where they went to school or any of that stuff - so long as they are nice. I really mean it.

Have been blubbing at Comic Relief already!

Looks like none of us had much luck with the ponies. My grey was in the lead almost all the way round and then my FiL jinxed it by saying "Relax, he's won..." Obviously he then went on to come fourth. Groan.

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 20:26

And what sort of people does she think we are if she thinks we should judge you. And as far as clothes go tell her we've got KMP in her dressing gown and in my charity shop jeans!!!

kayzr · 13/03/2009 20:37

I'm ok thanks. I just ignore her, I have gotten quite used to ignoring her.

I might go to bed soon. I have done too much walking and my knees are in agony.

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 20:38

Oh my goodness did Annie Lennox make anyone else cry I was holding together until the last bit when she cried. I think DH is ready to pledge next years income.

kayzr · 13/03/2009 20:41

Your DH must be softer than mine. Annie Lennox came on and he left the room moaning about how crap she is.

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 21:01

Oh DH loves her he is a big Eurythmics fan. But then I think he always hoped the wearing a mice bra as a top thing might catch on as a ladies fashion.

waitinggirl · 13/03/2009 22:26

kim - how scary for you all - hope things continue to improve

kayzr - what, you mean you're not a full paid up member of the aristocracy? i'm sorry, but i don't think i can associate with you with you any more. begone, proletariat! (and i thought i had MIL issues...)

trace - the sketch is apparently on pretty late (11.30ish) and dh has the teeniest tiniest part in it, so probably best to look at my profile page photos and you can see what he looks like there. we're probably going to bed in a minute, so may well not get to see it ourselves. way more excited about rob webb dancing his flashdance tomorrow evening (will be just around dd's bedtime, so will have to record it).

jj the other night i gave dd her bath and bedtime routine on my own - i ended up doing it nearly an hour early because i couldn't cope with her screaming at me on my own. was worried it would upset her routine/sleeping, but actually she slept better than normal and woke up at normal time - there seems to be no rhyme nor reason. good luck.

katie3677 · 13/03/2009 22:28

Evenin' all. I am on here to avoid watching the sad bits of Comic Relief, I have already cried bucket loads and feel quite exhausted. I let DS stay up a bit to watch some of it as I have been trying to explain what it's all about to him, and he got all sad and said that he wanted to give all of his money from Darth Vadar (money box) to the poor children in Africa, so sweet, he's only 3, but slightly worried I might have traumatised him .

Great to have so many new FB friends and see what you all look like, but also very concerned and jealous of how glamorous you all look.

Off to bed soon, but just wanted to say Kayz, your MIL is an arse, and a vindictive one at that.

waitinggirl · 13/03/2009 22:37

btw - apparently the sketch isn't very good, either

zoejeanne · 13/03/2009 22:41

So much to catch up on ? 10 pages and I?ve only been gone 5 days at all you natterers.

JJ Recently DD has started taking a ?power nap? about an hour before bedtime, just 20 minutes or so, whether she sleeps well during the day or not. I?ve tried keeping her awake, but it seems this little power nap makes the bedtime routine happier for her and she?s more relaxed about feeding, so seems to take more and sleep better. And she seems to miraculously wake up 5 minutes before the bedtime routine starts, I think she?s going to be a genius about telling the time . What time did your DD wake this evening, after her nap?

Kayz does your DH just laugh at your MIL when she comes out with those crackers? I think I?d struggle to keep a straight face sometimes at the ridiculousness of it. Crazy lady

Days ago you were talking about dodgy German speaking and jolly?s DH attempts ? when I went over there I learnt one phrase ?do you speak English, my German isn?t very good?, but it turned out that I was telling people that my pet German is badly behaved

Rosmerta your poor cousin, although these sort of attacks are in the news all too often its very shocking when it happens to someone you know (and I feel like I know you, so you count when I say that). I hope he has a quick recovery

Not quite on the scale of the violent video games, but still a ?youth of today? rant - I went to the sure start centre this week with DD to meet some other mums and babes. There were a couple of toddlers playing and getting stressy with each other as they didn?t want to share toys, as toddlers do. Mum of toddler 1 intervened and told him to play nicely with toddler 2, to which mum of toddler 2 piped up ?its not toddler 1?s fault, my DD bit him? and then turned away to carry on chatting and didn't say anything to toddler 2 at all My jaw nearly hit the floor, am I turning into my mother, thinking that?s terrible parenting?

Happy first birthday to ladyt?s DD ? we don?t know when DD was conceived. In theory it was April fools day, although we know that it definitely wasn?t that day ? we were on holiday in Sweden and stayed in the ice hotel, and it was too darned cold for anything like that

Bisou thanks for the advice on thrush ? I knew there was an expert on here who had been through it already. I?ve got the micronozole cream for me, which I?m putting on after every feed. I?m also changing breast pads regularly (and using disposable ones rather than the reusable ones). I hadn?t thought of sterilising my bra, so will try that. I?ve been eating live yogurt every too thanks to LadyTs tip. The BFC suggested Nystatin for DD, which I?ve been rubbing round her mouth and tongue. She pulls ?yukky? faces and must hate the taste ? it smells really strongly of aniseed, and although I love aniseed I?m sure its too strong a flavour for a little one. Anyway, things seem to be clearing up, my nips aren?t sore and DD isn't getting upset when she feeds and I hope I caught it early (hadn?t reached the cracked nipple stage and DD only had a little bit of the white in her mouth) and I?m keeping on with the medication for the full 10 days to hope all will be clear [fingers crossed emoticon]. Your boy is growing so big, I am very impressed with all that you?re doing and still doting on him as well

JJ how did your friend?s daughters operation go? I do hope it was a success

verso hurrah for the tablets working, that?s great news

Still 7 pages to go, and I'm shattered, so going to bed and will keep reading tomorrow. Sorry to anyone I've missed out, night night everyone xx

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 22:46

Katie you have clearly not been looking at my photo. That is so sweet about your sweet ds, I think it is good for them though. Ds1s nursery did the samaritans shoe box thing and DS1 still talks about the 'poor children on that other island who don't have mummies and daddies'.

I've never watched comic relief before it's so sad. We are so useless it took about 15 minutes before we logged onto donate. I think DH had a little cry too.

Dammit. DD usually wakes at 6am for her feed, which is hard enough to got to back to sleep after but this morning didn't wake until 7, so there is no point in going back to bed, so now I'm wandering around aimlessly while the rest of the house is asleep. I have loads to do as BIL is coming to plaster the kitchen this morning (allegedly) but I can't start moving things around as I'll wake everybody up (very noisy, open plan house!). Oh well,I might just go and do some more FB stalking to see if I can find ANY imperfections in you lot! BTW, FB is really confusing me as not having met any of you I am finding it hard to marry your FB names with MN ones.

kayzr · 14/03/2009 07:26

Morning,

I'm feeling a bit down this morning. The weight is coming off as quick as I'd like. A friend whose DD is 3 weeks younger than DS2 has been back at a size 8 since she was 5 weeks old.

I found no clothes at all yesterday. Just a pair of jeans in New Look but I have 3 pairs already. 1 in black, 1 in blue and a white pair. So I didn't really want another pair. I wouldn't mind being PG again. The maternity clothes were lovely and I know that if I was pg I could wear them and I'd look all right.

Hope you are all ok.

kayzr · 14/03/2009 07:29

The weight isn't coming off as quick as I'd like.

I think pregnancy has addled my typing abilities.
