wg, no idea about the orange tongue!

veggie, ikwym, dh would happily have a 3rd but I'm not sure I'd want to do it all again, so we'll probably never have a girl either.

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 11:59

Aaahhhhh hVe just been pooed on

Never heard or seen orange tongue WG any other a oh shit wee and spew now gotta go

artichokes · 13/03/2009 13:01

LadyT - dd1 had the sinle MMR jabs. It was done privately at the Childrens Immunisation Centre on Harley St. It costs about £650 for all three once you have had the boosters and everything. There are some v interesting threads on these boards that helped me decide whether to have singles or combined. DD's allergies tipped the balance for me.

All this talk about never having a son or daughter. I think we may well have a third baby in three or four years (dh is super keen and i am open minded, if it weren't for morning sickness i would be sure). Anyway, i would actually love a third girl. There is something powerful about three sisters. Obviously I would be happy with a boy too.

JollyBear · 13/03/2009 13:06

Afternoon all,

Golly it is pouring down here, I think a walk to the park is out of the question. Best get cosy and MN instead .

KMP I love the sheep. Very cute indeed.

katie I'll keep an eye out for that brand. £40 seems the norm for jeans these days - Topshop ones are 40 quid . Thanks for the M&S tip kayz, I'll have a look. Jam The pair I'm wearing to death are by 7even but I got them from TKMaxx so they were a bargain. Veggie I love MissSixty jeans - I have some that are about 8 years old but they're a bit baggy in the bum. JJ I think I am an odd shape though! No bum and a waist like a tree trunk does not sit well in most jeans!

Trace What a great excuse to have a kitkat! DH has emailed his collegue who is organising the York meeting asking them to get a move on as Mrs Jollybear is hankering after a day out .

cat It was not being able to get back to sleep after running up and down stairs that made me decide to take all the bottle stuff upstairs for on site preparation.

WG How very exciting/ I'll keep an eye out for your DH. I'm enjoying the radio 4's comic relief thing today with different comics doing the between programme announcement bits.

JJ I'm so glad your friends baby is OK. ICU is a scary place - more for the visitors than the patient who are usually too drugged up to notice the machines and bleeps. Hope she is moved onto a normal ward soon.

Lal It was me asking about wedding wear. The same dress it is then! Now I just have to find something......

ladyT WW wine! . A friend gave me WW jam once which was grim. Oh and I forgot to say I love the idea of your DD sleeping as you played badminton.

Re a Bumbo. How old/ good with their head do they need to be? My friend said she's lend me one but said DD would need to be 4 months.

I'm not on facebook so can't join in the fun . I didn't join when everyone started opening accounts as I work from home and knew I'd spend all day on there if I wasn't careful! MN is addictive enough

Hey Ladies... been trying to catch up, but not a doing a very good job of it.

Had a very bad scare and a trip to the A&E Wednesday night. When Judah woke up on Wednesday morning we noticed that he had had a bloody nose during the night. We figured it might have been from his nose being dried out or that he's started rolling over and sometimes hits his face on the floor and mattress (head bobbing). So we didn't really worry too much. Later in the day he started to get fussy and every time he fed he started vomiting (not normal for him at all). At his last feed he projectile vomited and then proceeded to start bleeding from his ear!!! So we took him to the ER. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long, but we were a bit pissed/worried when the doc came in and had no idea what was going on with the nose and ear. He must have asked us the same questions 15 times! They decided to put in a IV so they could take his blood and also for in the event he had something wrong with him. After that we were admitted to the children's ward for them to look after him for the night. We had to wait for blood work results until the following morning and everything came back normal. The pediatrician came in and checked him and said his ear looked fine and that he had no idea what could have caused him to bleed from the ear. We were also asked if we had hit him or if he had fallen. I know it's probably standard procedure, but having them ask us that really freaked me out! Alas, we are home, exhausted, but home and Judah seems to be fine. We have to take him back in to see the pediatrician in 10 days.

right... now I've got to try and catch up. I saw something about a FB group?!

Hope everyone is doing fabulous today!!!

EffiePerine · 13/03/2009 13:18

Right, have bunged a fiver on Her Maj's hoss in the Gold Cup. She's better have been looking after it

Wer haven't rules out another baby, but I'd actually be a bit worried we'd have a girl - after two boys I'd be a bit befuddled! My sister has two girls so the female line is sorted

EffiePerine · 13/03/2009 13:20

Kimberley: how frightening. Glad you're all home and OK. I suppose they have to ask awkward questions when babies go to A&E with mysterious injuries. I know they can sometimes notify your hv as well, so don't worry if you get a call from her in a few days.

traceface · 13/03/2009 13:23

Kimberly how scary for you. So sorry you've had to go through that. Hope all is well when you go for your check up in 10 days.
As for the questions about hitting him etc, I know it's horrible to be asked, but it always has to be considered. I work on a paeds ward and it's horrendous to have to ask, and some parents do get very upset about it, but I try to think that if by asking those questions we manage to identify and help one child whose injury was non-accidental and is at risk of further harm, then it's worth asking - even if the parents shout at me! It happened to me when my dd1 had some blood in her pants and the GP had to ask me whether it could have been caused by something inappropriate by dh or nursery staff. It hurts to be asked but is important. i'm so glad Judah turned out fine.

it's just gone from being glorious sunshine to so dark and cloudy I need to put the light on - all within about 3 minutes!

JollyBear · 13/03/2009 13:30

Oh kimberly how very frightening. I suppose they have to ask those questions, although it must have been awful for you. I'm glad Judah is feeling better.

trace I've had the light on all day. Our weather must be moving easterly over the pennines to you!

lal07 · 13/03/2009 15:13

Kimberly you poor thing. Must have been really awful. Is so miserable having to have IV when they're this tiny. How frustrating that they didn't know why - but at least J seems better.

Veggie I didn't know measles had seasons. So useful having you and Trace on here with your medical knowledge

Dr was v reassuring and as we left the surgery we saw a toddler with measles coming in - so have booked the booster for next week. Sorry LadyT should have been clearer about it being for the boy not the babe.

Hmm. Am not doing so well with the racing this afternoon.

Rosmerta that's a nice idea about the treasure box - was looking at pictures of DS at similar age to DD and realised we'd given him loads of toys by this age.

Trace hope you had a nice day - I know what you mean about talking about work - makes it all seem very close.

And Arti I agree about 3 sisters. Both my brother and sister have 3 daughters, and one of my BFs is one of 3 girls. They're so close it's lovely. No chance of another baby for us though - because I would probably get HG again unless it was a boy. Too much of a gamble and DH is adamant no.

Have just booked our summer holiday - yay! We're staying in a cottage in the South of France and my brother and his family have the main house at the same place. Perfect. He is brilliant cook and excellent at seeking out fantastic wine, SIL is one of nicest people in the world and my nieces are v entertaining and love amusing DS [why isn't there a smug emoticon?]

Come on Roll Along...and LadyT's horses as well of course.

lal07 · 13/03/2009 15:29

Oh ass.

As in my horse was an ...

Indith · 13/03/2009 15:53

Hello

Kayz I was down your way yesterday! We went to my Gran's in Kirkbymoorside as she'd not seen dd yet. Also went to York to the railway museum and then to see the tornado leave the station, ds loved the museum but got scared by all the noise of the real train. He loved it when it came through Durham but this time it was very noisy. As in dh and I ended up with hands clamped over childrens' ears and spend the rest of the day with ringing in our own ears. Ooops.

Kim horrible scare, hope all is ok.

dh and children home from their walk, norks needed

zoejeanne · 13/03/2009 16:10

Hi everyone, hope you're all well? Just bookmarking myself as nasty DH decided he needed his laptop at work this week and took it with him - as if his work is more important than my MN fun! OK, will start catching up now, have missed you all xx

rosmerta · 13/03/2009 16:46

Afternoon all, its got really cloudy & chilly in London as well!

Kimberley, glad J is ok. The questions are upsetting but they ask everyone them. Ds1 managed to climb onto the edge of his cot once & fell over, took him to A&E and we were asked exactly the same things. They even asked to undress him to see how he moved & if there were any bruises etc! It is frightening but as trace said, even if they just catch one child its worth it.

Ds1 is having a picnic tea tonight as we've been out since picking him up from nursery, he's shattered now!

kayzr · 13/03/2009 17:52

Hello.

Kimberly How scary. I'm glad J is ok and hopefully all will be fine in 10 days.

We went to York today and it was good fun. We got a red nose and have been taking it in turns wearing it everywhere!!

I am now absolutely shattered so I'm going to be off now and have a rest.

Hope you are all ok!!

EffiePerine · 13/03/2009 17:58

Why did no-one tell me that hoss had three legs?

grrrr

DH won 20 quid and is being smug (but he did buy me a Lindt bunny so is forgiven)

rosmerta · 13/03/2009 18:05

One of the horses I picked won, should've put a bet on!

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 18:20

Mmmmm.... Lindt bunnys.

All bodily fluids now washed off and as I had run out of jeans (other pair was vomited n yesterday) I decided to chance my pre ds2 jeans, and they fit !!!! Yay! Of course there is a bit of muffin top spilling over but nothing a super strong pair of spanx can't sort, and I maybe shortening the zippers lifespan a little but I can get them on and that's the main thing.

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 18:33

Oh Rosemerta how annoying!

Kimberley that all sounds very scary, how is he now? Ditto what everyone has said about the child protection although I would say he went about questioning you the wrong way. But all very scary anyway, gosh we have had some cheek little monkeys scaring us lately with health stuff.

Lal when the weather starts to turn warmer lots of cheeky disease and infections come out, some just prefer warmer weather while others like some of the bugs that can cause meningitis are carried to the area by migrating birds. This year looks like being particularly bad for measles so anyone who has LOs due the sooner the better as last year was pretty bad. If they are immunized there is less chance of the bubs getting it.

Oh trace I got the bouncer out today, poor ds2 couldn't reach the floor but loved being upright in it. He is desperate to be sitting up, I also propped him up with my old body pillow. We didn't get a Bumbo last time with ds1 but wish we had. I didn't because it seems such a small window of time that they use it for. Anyone who has one how long do they use them for? It feels like he would feel more apart of what the family is up to at home if he could sit up.

jumpjockey · 13/03/2009 18:33

Evening all

Kimberley blimey how scary, glad all is well now [big hug for J]

dd asleep so will be off to make tea, but just a question for those with fairly fixed baby bedtimes. What do you do on days where everything seems to be stuffed up? EG today dd has managed 3 45-minute naps and an hour of off-and-on in the pushchair, and when we got home had a half hour screamathon I assume because she's too tired. I caved and put her on the boob for comfort even though she fed at about 5, she fed herself to sleep and is finally catching up. But the thing is her bedtime routine usually starts at 7 so I'd really like her to be awake now. What's best in these situations? I don't want her to have been awake for so long that the meltdown happens, but equally if she's having a much needed nap too close to bedtime, she won't be able to sleep.

I suppose on the one hand it's good, DH is stuck with a surgery that's running an hour late and then he's got a couple of visits to do so if she sleeps for an hour then gets up he might get to see her today. It's so confusing to know what's the best thing to do!

Oh Kayz - if you make the FB group 'secret' then nobody else can see it apart from members - might be good for the ability to be honest for those of us with family members/ work colleagues as friends?!

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 18:34

Oh and hi ZJ how completely inconsiderat of your DH I mean really...

kayzr · 13/03/2009 18:43

Jump The group is secret. No one but members can see it. I logged in as DH and he can see the group name and nothing else.

daisydora · 13/03/2009 18:55

kimberley how awful and frightening for you but I'm glad that Judah is better now

OP posts:
kayzr · 13/03/2009 18:56

Oh yeah. Just remembered something!!!

MIL said to DH that you lot wouldn't talk to me or be my friend if you knew I lived in a council/housing association house. Now I'm pretty sure you all already know that. Also because I've met Lal and Trace she said that I obviously borrowed someone else's clothes so I looked good.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EffiePerine · 13/03/2009 18:59

at your MIL Kayz. Utter bollocks. Do I get ostracised because my dad works in a factory, or because my DH grew up in a council house? Don't think so.
