Facebook was busy last night! wg hope you're not offended but I deleted your post as it had my MN name on it, I don't think anyone in RL is going to track me down on here but just in case!

Has anyone heard of treasure baskets? I had one for ds1 & he loved it. I know its more for when they're sitting up & can grab things but I've started putting a few bits to one side now for ds2.

lady yes, you're right about WW wine. When I used to do WW they were always pushing it as a good alternative! Personally, I think life's too short to waste on rubbish wine!

Speaking of wine, I'm a bit upset my parents aren't going to France this year. They usually go to stay with friends & there's a lovely vineyard nearby, so we get a few bottles from them. But not this year .

SummerLightning · 13/03/2009 08:04

Morning, ooh how exciting that lots of you are on Facebook.
Talking of Mumsnet names, my (D)H knows my log on from sneakily looking over my shoulder!
And THEN he told my friends! And these are my friends who I have mentioned on here, so I am not impressed with him. Even though I have not been mean about my friend, but I did moan that her baby slept through the night from about 4 weeks.
If he tells the MIL I will seriously kill him.
She is techie enough to find my posts if she so wanted, and I have moaned about her!

SybilFaulty · 13/03/2009 08:07

Hello my darlings. Thanks for all the messages of support re Lucy and her tooth / blood tests. Happy to report that tooth sorted (though gap remains of course) but blood tests this am. I've told her we're going on an adventure to Kings, which is one way of looking at it

Haven't read for a couple of days, but sending good wishes to JJ's friend, a warm welcome to Babymakes4 and love to everyone. Back on this evening, have a good day girls.

EffiePerine · 13/03/2009 08:09

LadyT: you knew 'WW' and 'wine' was not going to be a good combination

Am tempted to have an online flutter on the horses tho I always lose (prob something to do with picking runners on the name rather than form!)

Re FB, I only have v old photos, will have to update when I get the time

EffiePerine · 13/03/2009 08:12

Best of luck for today Sybs

daisydora · 13/03/2009 08:12

Have also got the bumbo down - DS loves it for all of a minute and then goes mental! DD however loves it and asked Harry if she could share his toy bless her

kayz have requested to join the FB group my RL initials are CC, so hopefully you'll know thats me!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 13/03/2009 08:13

On FB, you're very unlikely to see any photos of me as I avoid photo-taking as much as I can!!

Effie, I always pick by name as well, FIL (loves horse betting) finds it hilarious

kmp1 · 13/03/2009 08:16

hi all thanks for FB requests! Am typing one handed and expressing so this will be short! Good night - brought the bedtime forward and all went well! Off to get his Aussie passport later today

SummerLightning · 13/03/2009 08:48

Hi all, sort of caught up on the thread now.
Just wanted to say jj great news about your friend's little one!
Am feeding so can't easily type more!

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 08:50

Cat it wasn't my suggestion but glad you got back to sleep ok.

Hooray KMP for your little Aussie, poor J is still the only one in the family who isn't Australian, we really have to get onto it.

lal07 · 13/03/2009 08:57

Ok so have been tempted by odds on Roll Along for Gold Cup race. Watch it fall at the first...

Effie I also sometimes pick on the name, but do try to channel my grandmother - who didn't really lose (and only ever picked irish horses/trainers/jockeys).

Have been shamed into updating facebook slightly.

We're going to the Dr this am as we've got a letter saying there's a measles epidemic and DS should have his MMR booster early. Anyone else had to do this?

Have started letting DS 'help' choose clothes for DD. They're both wearing T shirts with Snoopy on today .

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 09:05

Other clinics have been doing it in Derby but so far we haven't recieved one for ds1 yet. I asked about it at ds2s jabs and she said we would get the letter so I asked if I could just make the appointment now and she said to wait for the letter. The letter is just an offer to come in so I'm not really sure why I have to wait for it if we are ready now. The peak of the measles season is around April so I'd really like him to have it now. Oh well he's had the first so should be covered.

lal07 · 13/03/2009 09:10

SL if you're bothered you could always change your name (although would be shame as is good one)

Sorry x-posted with some of you - Sybil thinking of you today - hope all goes ok.

rosmerta - what's a treasure basket? (obviously yet another thing I deprived DS of...)

kmp1 · 13/03/2009 09:24

hey also, you can choose to not have any groups you join or certain info visable on your FB page

rosmerta · 13/03/2009 09:32

Lal, it was something the HV told me about. Its basically a box or basket with lots of different things for them to explore. I had some material, a wooden spoon, tea strainer, ball of wool, that's all I can remember! But it gives them something new to feel, a change from their toys! Ds1 played with it for hours though

Cat, glad the relaxation worked, lol at relaxed metatarsals!

LadyThompson · 13/03/2009 09:36

Morning girls

Syb, thinking of you and DD. Hope it goes ok.

Yes KMP, it was the white WW wine. It was spewsome and gruesome. Why do I always think things are going to be good? DP was laughing about this yesterday. I suppose hope springs eternal.

Nice work on the group, Kayz! What larks, Pip.

MMR jabs already? Gosh. DP wants DD to have the separate ones, but we haven't had a letter about the epidemic yet. Presumably the germs turn their germy noses up at living in the country, and who can blame them for that?

Ros, I don't know what a treasure basket is either but it sounds exciting.

Summer, that's naughty of your DH, blowing your cover. Do you think your MiL would come over all Sherlock? I guess you could get MN to withdraw all your posts and then just change your name very slightly

traceface · 13/03/2009 09:52

morning!

Turnip - what is sugar water? I've never heard of it. Am I dense? How does it help them sleep?

I saw the Comic Relief thing too WG and was rather horrified at the Denise thing. So very Not Right.

I did however have a scary moment where I realised I find Gary Barlow attractive . In the old TT days it was always Mark Owen who was my favourite, but I feel the old Barlow has matured very nicely indeed.

Am a bit worried about my state of mind. I got an unusually large cornflake in my bowl this morning and actually laughed out loud at how big it was. My brain really has turned to mush!

Sybil - thinking of your dd today - hope all goes well and it's not too scary for wither of you.

JJ - so pleased for your friend's baby.

I've been debating for some time about whether to close my facebook account (many reasons which I shan't bore you with...) and made the final decision to do it last week. So I am no longer on it....and then you go and start a fun group . doh!

Have got a work pal coming round any minute...sounds daft but I'm a bit nervous because we are bound to talk about work and I really don't want to. She's a most lovely girl (newly qualified and was my student) but the whole work thing makes me uneasy at the moment and I don't like to think about going back (which I will be doing in the summer). You see I am truly mad.
Then this pm am off to friend's with her Gina-baby and, on LadyT's sound advice, am refusing to take Jealousy or Feelings of Inadequacy with me

hope you have good days...

Veggiemummy · 13/03/2009 10:25

Trace I personally think you are brilliant as a mum and as a person in general so take that thought to your friends house this afternoon.

Lady it's the bigger ones having their MMRs mine and Effies ds1s.

I was just talking to DH, he went to see his sis while in London and she was talking about one of her neighbours who is pregnant with her 3rd daughter and how they are dissapointed because it is another girl. Anyway it's not a judgement on their devaluing of another lovely lady in the world but it made me talk about something that has been making me a bit sad. I love J to death and am so glad I have him but I'm sad that I will never have a girl. I never knew I even was that bothered but to think that the female line of my family stops with me is a bit sad.

LadyThompson · 13/03/2009 10:38

Awww, Veggie. Is a third babe out of the question? (It is for me, the next one will be the last. I genuinely can't decide whether I would be happier with a boy or another girl). Silly me, about the MMR! Doh.

Right, have bet on Nelson Collonges (love a grey) and my crazy, I-reckon-he-could-have-a flash-of-inspiration type bet is My Will.

LadyThompson · 13/03/2009 10:38

That's just for the Gold Cup though (don't want to get carried away )

rosmerta · 13/03/2009 10:45

If I was going to have a bet I would choose Kauto Star & Snoopy Loopy . Reminds me of when we went to the races in Melbourne on our honeymoon [wistful emoticon]

daisydora · 13/03/2009 10:48

ladyt I had to laugh at your WW white wine. As a 'current' WW I've not bothered with it. My mum tried it and had already tol me it was revolting. Her theory is have a glass or two less of the good stuff...although thats not always easy when the corks out

veggie I think its understandable the way you feel about not having a girl. Your not detracting from your love for your boys. My sister had 3 boys and said she never regretted not having a girl until I had my DD.

OP posts:
JamInMyWellies · 13/03/2009 10:54

Syb hope all goes ok with DD.

Veggie I to am a bot sad I wont have a girl DP is adamant that 2 is enough.

LadyT I know a few people who have done the single immunisations. I can get the info if you want.

Good god Bisopu I dont think I can be FB friends with you far too glam.

Right best crAck on.

waitinggirl · 13/03/2009 10:57

quick question: dd has an orange tongue - since yesterday. she is exclusively bf. any ideas? should i be concerned? pooing and weeing fine, as far as i'm aware...
