stripeywoollenhat · 04/04/2009 21:31

so c has been crying now since 6.30; she is upstairs now with dp as my milk supply is too slow for her in the evenings and i think that the frustration makes everything worse for her. frazzled is not the word for my household... i thought we had got past the endless evening screaming, but perhaps not.

stripeywoollenhat · 04/04/2009 21:36

flf - i think that's the baby gym we have (gift, so not sure) - there's a lion with a pink mane? c loves it and it is completely washable. good to hear from you

Was very strange going back there! Would recommend it for a bit of a lift for anyone struggling, makes you realise how far we've come with them already.

Think I'm going to add DD to the list too if anyone else feels like adding siblings would ebe nice to know how old they all are and keep up with who has DS's or DD's.

FlF - Hi!! Ace to hear from you. How did I miss your post?

Stripey - I hear ya! Been like that everyday here since Jan 23rd, when I came home with Harriet. Or the H-bomb as we call her.

Hope it settles down soon.........

LenniEd · 04/04/2009 21:48

Yay - Tree, I knew you'd understand!! I have just invested in some ittis - I love them, but am having leaky leg issues with them, but I'm prepared to overcome said issues because they are so damned cute. DH just looks at me like this when I tell him about the leg leak problems and my elaborate plans to address them... he just doesn't get it

Tree - whereabouts are you? Are you going to venture out to any groups with the h-bomb? I find it much easier to meet people with a baby in tow.

MissJ- yes, would be nice to live near to you so we could bemoan our absent DH's whilst pram pushing in the country lanes. Are you north or south wales?

treedelivery · 04/04/2009 21:49

Lenni - Oh itti's. Oh oh oh. Got a small red [like for a doll it's so small] and a mint medium. 1st saw them at the baby show [I went to at 26 weeks to get me more enthusiastic about birthing and feeding etc]. Knew then I HAD to use washables.

I find they leak more if you use both inserts, only one is a bit better. Maibly loving thirsties at the mo, although haven't tried their AIO....yet....

Thanks for the list!

Tree - I love thirsties too - I wish they did popper ones rather than velcro - although they might do by now... better not look, can't spend money!

EachPeachPearMum · 04/04/2009 22:26

Well done Lenni!

so... reusables... I have some in the bottom of dd's wardrobe that I was given, but never got round to using with dd. As DS is such a porker big boy he is the right weight for them now... how do I get started?
I have 4 or 5 wraps (proraps & cotton bottoms) and loads of flat prefold nappies... where do I start...?
`Was thinking just daytime only, as he sleeps 8-5, so quite a long time to be in a reusable. In the day he is changed every 3 hours though. I have fleece liners, and also bio-degradable flushable ones- do you use both? should I save flushable for weaning so it can just all go down loo?

Wet pailing vs dry pailing?
Am I ever going to keep on top of the washing?
so many questions!

Each peach - what kind of pre folds have you got? I have to know.

Dry pail - by far easiest. Water sloshing with poo no ones idea of fun!

Liners - Fleece is the way forward. So comfy on the skin and keeps them dry. sling them in the bucket then in the wash. Easy!

Change - 3 hourly fine. We change 4-6 hourly fine too.

Washing - amazingly easy infact. You can't use fabric softner, so either abandon it alltogether, as I have. Now use white vinegar as we have haard water, with lavender oil for scent.
Or do th nappies on their own every 2 day or whenever you are out of them.

Then line dry or tumble at your leisure.
I've found the laundry side of it a doddle despite my own imaginations.

dog- don't know if I was any use... especially after my spectacular x-post with you saying you had a SALT appointment!

treedelivery · 04/04/2009 22:43

You'd get good £££ for them if you won't get round to using them I'd say!

I didnt use them with dd1, and despite the high needs bonkers H-bomb that dd2 is I find them very llittle effort. Am amazed!!

tree erm- how would I know? They have no label on them! I think some are kooshies and some are bambino mio.
Changing- depends how long he goes between feeds- I always change him after feeding- usually 3 or 4 hours in the day.
Don't use fab conditioner for the children anyway- dd has such sensitive skin, so never have.. ds stuff is washed with hers, lights and darks separately.

I also have 1 dizzydiaper stuffable, and 2 minki stuffables... tell me what I use inside them please. Not sure how heavy a wetter ds is... as we use pampers at the moment and they're pretty good at locking away the wet. (I hate using them, but he is just the wrong build for the nature babies I used with dd, and I was so sick of him leaking and all the washing I gave in to the evil plastic nappies)

rrrayray · 04/04/2009 22:59

MissJ i know what you mean about loosing track of who is who in terms of "real names" on facebook. Will let you know how i get on with Wii Fit. As for Gyms- Esme has a mothercare play "nest" so she isnt on her back, shes sitting up in the nest. shes suddenly become really interested in it after not caring less about the toys for a long time!!!

FLF Wow, 10 hours is a GREAT stretch! Esme isn't doing anything like that at night. But, she only wakes once for a quick feed and is back off again, plus shes a really contented baby in the day, so i don't think i can really complain. Although 10 hours sleep does sound lovely!!!!! Wouldn't complain if it happened. I wonder when she will change her routine? As she feeds every 4 hours pretty much around the clock at the moment.

peach i'll see how i get on with wii fit, but like you said, was gym bunny, so maybe wii fit might be a bit tame!?! Will look at coach.

missj... About nappies, Esme is the complete opposite. She couldn't be less bothered, she would sit in wee/ poo all day long- couldn't care less!!! Which, you'd think would be great, but it meant she got that horrid nappy rash a while back. Now i've learnt the smell of her poos and wet nappies, plus i just change the nappy Lots and lots just to makesure that rash doesn't return. I change Esme's nappy at her 10.30pm feed, and then not again until the morning unless i hear or smell a nappy filling. She seems to keep it all in and do a massive morning poo while she feeds at 7am. Does anyone elses LO do this? She did such a massive one this morning it went through her vest, body suit AND onto our Fresh bed sheets. White ones too!!!

Does anyone elses LO seem to hate fresh air/wind? Whenever there is even the slightest breeze Esme pouts her lips and throws herself around like its blowing a gale in her face.

moosemama · 04/04/2009 23:08

Evening all,

Am a bit at all the babies feeding 3-4 hourly during the day. DD seems determined to stick to 2 hourly feeding and I'm constantly knackered as a result despite getting plenty of sleep at night.

Anyone else got a frequent feeder?

Am feeling soooo tired and run down and what with all the hormonal symptoms I've had, I've even fleetingly considered giving up bf. (Rash is back again, along with a whopping hormonal headache and nausea and dizziness akin to morning sickness. )

EachPeachPearMum · 04/04/2009 23:17

moose is it possibly shingles???? It can be very nasty Sorry, I may have missed, but what has GP said?

rray I learnt from dd.... always put DS on our bed with a sheet or changing mat under him. So far he doesn't do explosive ones like she did though Its good that they don't poo in the night though- less faffing in dim light

moosemama · 04/04/2009 23:23

EPPM doesn't seem to fit shingles as is on both side of my body and fairly symmetrical in distribution. Haven't been to GP as its a pain to get an appointment and they are usually crap anyway. Am almost 100 percent sure its hormonal and probably exacerbated by the breastfeeding.

elkiedee · 04/04/2009 23:25

C is a frequent feeder, and because I was so desperate to establish and maintain bf after all the problems I had with both DS1 and C, I haven't tried feeding 3/4 hourly.

treedelivery · 04/04/2009 23:27

Moose - I'm with you. But would you want me, you've seen my desperado threads! Poor poor you. Bugger.

EAchPeach - have had very up and down reports about the kind of nappies you have. It sounds like you are actually already set us for washables as you do laudry like a washable user!

Stuff your stuffable with anything at all, a face cloth, microfibre dishcloths are brill they soak up loads, anything. Pockets can be a bit more leaky around the leg so check there are no obvious gapes.

if you fancy spending a tenner on a new nappy and wrap, or all in one, I recommend here as they section them all out and give marks for various things.

I'm here to tell you you would LOVE itti bitti d'lish. BumGenius all in ones are really good too, but oh those Itti's. Soooo strokable.

moosemama · 04/04/2009 23:31

Thanks Tree - we can wallow in our desperation together! and Elkie nice to know I'm not the only one pinned to the sofa for most of the day!
