Morning all!
tree- just read your thread, poor you! Don't really have any advice to offer but seems like some good advice on there from people who know what they are talking about. Hope things start to improve soon .

Zach woken up with a horrid cold this morning, going to try to serve tea and coffee at the fayre without dropping too much baby snot in it

Just about caught up!
Had a hellish week- dd has had an upset stomach all week, so been off nursery... she is just about over it, thankfully as she has a party this afternoon that she was desperate not to miss.

DS is shoving his hands in his mouth too, and reaching for toys now. He also laughed for first time on thursday so nice- I think dd waited until about 13 mo

I think those of us with more than 1 child are having the least sex... there's just more opportunity, and you're not quite as knackered when it's your first!

dog re DS- how old is he now? Does he comprehend what you are saying to him? Can he follow simple instructions? Does he say anything? (even 'mama' 'dada'?) We were worried with dd as at 19/20mo she still wasn't even saying 'mama' or 'papa'... and I read a book about speech that said 2 words at 2, 3 words at 3... meaning any time during the time they are 2 they should say 2 words... ie right up to their 3rd birthday. It's the comprehension that is key... HTH a little, but I know it is very worrying. I do know little boys who even at 2.5 are not saying anything other than mama dada.

moose all the school stuff is scary- very nervous about co-ordinating my 2 once DD starts after Easter... eek!

rray- the wii fit is okay up to a point... but if you were a gym bunny before dd, you might prefer 'My Fitness Coach' it is just for the wii, not wii fit, but it's much more of a workout- and you can set it to all levels as it assesses you first. Check it on Amazon... about 15 pounds, and you can see the reviews there too. We have it- DH is really enjoying it- he lost 4lbs the first week he used it!

Lovely sunny morning here - hope it's the same for everyone.

Was just sooooo tired out last night - I think it was all the excitement of going out for lunch (and maybe the wine ) - and went to bed soon after LO at 9pm. Feel better for a good night's sleep - obviously interrupted by usual feeds/ nappy changes.

On the subject of which.... Nye always wakes up when he wets his nappy - and then after changing, he is properly awake (even though we do it practically in the dark and in our bedroom now), so I have to feed him a bit again to get him back to sleep. Are all babies so sensitive to wet nappies? We've tried pampers and our tots bots reusables, but doesn't seem to make any difference.

Sorry to hear it's still so rough tree - I liked LenniEd's reassurance that you will both move on from this difficult period eventually - until then, I guess it's just one feed, one day at a time.

Thanks Dog, your DC are just gorgeous too, love all your pics. Did I ever tell you that Arlo was our name in reserve? Love it.

Pat sorry to hear about Zach's cold - Nye has developed a major case of the snuffles too, post-injections, poor little man sounded like he could hardly breathe last night but it didn't seem to bother him. I raised the cot at one end, and used olbas oil around our bed, which seemed to help a bit, and this morning did some delicate excavation work with a q-tip - I know you are not supposed to stick things up their nose, but these huge lumps of mucous were clearly blocking his breathing, and since I've done that, he can breathe much more easily and has gone back to sleep

ray I can never motivate myself to use any kind of fitness video/ dvd, but maybe the Wii option will be better, let us know how you get on - I've been making an effort to walk up the lane pushing the pram at speed, but it's hardly the same as crunches and lunges!

Hope everyone else is doing well despite colds and colicky babies!

EachPeachPearMum · 04/04/2009 11:17

missJ- it may be the heat of the gel in pampers waking him... and the damp in reuseables babies eh?
Have yu tried nature babies disposables? they keep the damp away from skin, but don't get warm when they wee- might help.
Arlo was also the name I wanted for DS, but DH wouldn't have it

great! just replied on yr other thread...

moosemama · 04/04/2009 11:44

Great news Dog, I know what you mean about just knowing something is up but not being taken seriously. Hopefully you will get some answers now.

DS1s teacher never came back to us to arrange a follow up meeting about his apparent 'lack of social skills' and a possible assessment. She just mouthed at me in the playground one day that he was doing much better and that was that.

DS2s teachers have stuck an inappropriate ILA in his book bag and not even discussed it with us and he has not done any reading or writing in class for three weeks now! Also, is ILA says he needs to practise counting to 10 in the correct order when at home he regularly counts to over 100 without a mistake. So much for arranging additional help!

Needless to say, where my sons' school is concerned a phrase containing the words 'arse' and 'elbow' keeps coming to mind!

But ... its the holidays, its sunny and I refuse to think about school for two whole weeks.

Off out with DS1 for him to chose a bicycle from Grandma for his birthday today and then tomorrow Mum is having the boys while we shop for their birthday presents.

missjackson · 04/04/2009 12:48

The 'Happiest Baby on the Block' guy shows Richard and Judy how it's done -

tree got to be worth a go? I'm going to try it next time LO kicks off.

treedelivery · 04/04/2009 14:42

Tink - Bracken v v v cute!! Thank you very much for pic posting!

MissJ - shall I send you a fleece liner? We use these in washables. The wee goes through it and they never feel cold. Like when fleece jumpers come out of the wash? Am more than happy as I have piles of home made ones!

Thanks to all who have helped me out with my dh and dd on various threads! Am now a) trying to be less pissed with dh and b) trying to bide the time with Harriet and take it feed at a time. Feel like I'm the only one doing any 'putting up with' around here mind you!

SoLenni what you up to for birthday? Apart from dishing out immunisation calpol?

Pat hope you have lovely coffee morning. Had our playschool one yesterday - dd easter bonnet a triumph. Hope Zach feels ok?

dog that is great news! And so totally typical of the referral 'system'. Tut.

Peach Hope dd has a great party!

treedelivery · 04/04/2009 14:44

this gym is sweet and good for when they r older too as they can sit up and play with it.

hi tree is that aimed @ me or dog??!!

treedelivery · 04/04/2009 18:48

Tnik - Washability? Aimed at playmat purchase! Which pram do you think you'll get?

EachPeachPearMum · 04/04/2009 19:37

tink the silvercross one is lovely! Looks better than DS' real pram!

dog DS born 02/02.. so I think he and your DD2 are v similar in age?

Maybe we need to do a cut and paste of all our names with their actual birthdates on now....

anyone?

Our babygym is a mamas and papas one.. under the sea, with a removable boat... which is just amazing- it has a sail which is UV resistant so you can put baby in the garden under it... I can't describe it, but dd loved it so much, and still plays in the boat bit. The boat is great for tummy time, and when its removed it a normal lie under gym. I love it.

fourlittlefeet · 04/04/2009 20:39

hello, only read this page as I don't get more than 20 mins online at the moment; too tired! I can really recommend the tiny love jungle themed gym though. Even my 23 month old loves it, and lots of low holes to tie all manner of toys to it.

just popping in to say hi really. H is a wonder and has been doing an unbelieveable 10 hours (from 7 til 4 or 5) fairly regularly for the last month. Even my toddler seems to be settling down so life is gradually going from atomic to tolerable. Still on extreme knackeredness though.. hope you are all doing well and that I have time to catch up soon.
xx

LenniEd · 04/04/2009 21:06

MissJ - I was also going to suggest a fleece liner - I don't see any reason why you couldn't use on inside a disposable either, except for the fact that I don't know how anyone could resist a cute squishy cloth nappied bottom. But I do have a strange fetish for nappies - Tree understands Well I hope you do anyway Tree as otherwise I'm really on my own! (I also have piles of home made ones - hehe! The things I have spent my life doing eh!!)

Am hoping DH might take DS for his immunisations on my birthday so that I can go for a morning out at a local wildlife park place with some friends and DD. If DH picked him up from the park he could take him and meet me back at home afterwards and he wouldn't even need a feed but I could have a couple of extra hours with DD. It seems so simple to me but I know DH will think it is the most awkward and unfathomable plan ever - he's not the most flexible person.

He has promised me a day out though which will be a rare treat as don't think we've spent a day together since our 'holiday' in Solihull the other weekend. He is so busy with work right now and I'm starting to feel a bit lonely in the middle of nowhere on my own all the time. It won't last though, hopefully work should be quieter by the end of the month, but I do miss him being around.

missjackson · 04/04/2009 21:21

LenniEd wish I lived nearer you, then us work-widows could hang out together! I am beginning to feel a lot more settled here actually, and have met some nice women - a couple of whom I can see becoming good friends. I also have my SIL who is really cool and I like spending time at her house with her 2 toddlers - makes me glad to have just one little baby to cope with!

Tree I have tried a fleece liner but only a very slim one, and would LOVE to try out yours - are we facebook friends in which case I can msg you? I must confess I sometimes lose track of real names/ mumsnet names! Or how does one exchange addresses here?

FLF H sounds lovely, can we swap ?

EPPM I was thinking the same re list of names and dates, it's so easy to lose track.

Am liking all the baby gym recommendations as I think I need one for LO - a midwife told me at the beginning that they were useless as they kept baby on their back, but now I feel like Nye is missing out as he has nothing to grab at. I think they are just very keen to push 'tummy time' but we do try that every day.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

treedelivery · 04/04/2009 21:28

MissJ - Can't promise mine will be a revolution but email me at frequentflyerplus at yahoo . co . uk and gis your address and I'll send you an example. Miserable midwife re a baby gym! - although tummy time is very important also. There are some that encourage this too.

LenniEd - totally understand nappy fetish and am infact obsessesd and skint as a result of serial nappy pruchases.
Dh ou t of house 6 till 6 everyday which is a bloody nightmare. Have been massively unsuccesfull at making friends around here [been here 5 years now] but hey ho. I have my lap top and all my cyber friends!

I would love love a list of names and dates of birth - but am truly incapable of making that list so someone else will have to
