Your photos are gorgeous DW; I love the one of the baby-in-a-box

Next time the CZJ lookylikey makes you feel inferior, give her a metaphorical poke in the eye. Yahboo to competitive moms everywhere.

What a gorgeous little girl drswife

Pinkglow · 23/02/2009 18:25

drswife - that mardy photo is the EXACT same face as Henry sometimes pulls, it breaks my heart. gorgeous DD you have

coolkat · 23/02/2009 18:57

Hi Ladies,

Been AWOL, Laptop broke, then we went to Centre parks for the weekend with MIL, SIL, BIL and DN's. Had a fab time, will post more later as shattered!!

DrsWife, I am in the midlands and I think we may both be near Loughborough? You have done better than me re getting out to groups, I still have not plucked up the courage to go. I did swop numbers with a girl at a weaning talk but have not met up yet. It is my aim for March to meet some friends!! If you fancy meeting up one day it would be lovely to meet with you.

Be back later X

ChocOrange05 · 23/02/2009 19:00

DW - I was wondering about you a few days ago, I miss our strawberry ribena chats - they were very deep and meaningful! Is it just me who always remembers to do things at the most inconvenient times - in bath, in bed, driving - and then forgets again??

Sorry you are feeling down - have you tried contacting people via netmums? They have local message boards for people looking for friends (its not as sad as it sounds!!) and I have met one friend that way and meeting another new person soon. Sometimes its easier to make friends one on one if groups have already been formed elsewhere. Keep perservering! Again, we are REALLY pleased to have you back - and my text buddy Pinkali!

Got to go and make risotto for dinner, yummmm.

ChocOrange05 · 23/02/2009 19:02

DW was going to say I will be in Brum in a few weeks to see my mum so we could meet up somewhere in the middle if you fancy it?? E-mail me at daniyastewart at yahoo dot co dot uk

Really got to go now or DH might divorce me for extra marital relations with MN!

LackaDAISYcal · 23/02/2009 20:20

oh, lol.....DH went upstairs to settle bumble about half an hour ago. I can hear bumble still chuntering to himself......and DH snoring over the baby monitor

MonkeyMargot · 23/02/2009 20:22

Welcome back Dr's Wife !! I love your pics - the "mardy" face is just brill!

As my DH would say, give the smug CZJ-alike a kick in the C*nt. Sorry if that's rude. She must have something wrong with her - maybe she's crap in the sack? Often very skinny, self-obsessed people are.
I love your honesty over how hard first-time motherhood is. Do not feel you are alone!
And it sounds like your LO is going brilliantly at night - which lots of people would kill for - and it must help you at least cope with the daytime being well-rested.

My LO is sh*te at day-time napping too. I used to resort to walking her in pram just to get her to sleep. However, in recent weeks, I've been trying to get her to nap in cot. I, like you, rely on feeding her til sleepy/asleep, then do a super-stealth move into the cot. She only naps for 20-45 mins at at time though. But tis better than nowt.

As obs and lacks said, keep persisting with baby-groups. Good luck and don't go hiding away again.

Tinkerisdead · 23/02/2009 20:25

Im all choked up at such nice messages, and compliments on DD, thank you.

Coolkat im in Coalville but can meet in Loughborough as thats v v near, im doing waterbabies at burleigh college in march.

Choc - get this DH felt sorry for me being so down, went to Costco and came home with a pallet of strawberry ribena yahooooooooo. i am worried about my teeth but jeez its the only way i get a drink with this limpet child attached to me!! grab, straw in, guzzle, chuck carton. im ashamed to say ive nearly finished them all ha ha.

Brum isnt too far, about 45 mins or so for me. I used Netmums to find parent groups but didnt know it had a "lonely hearts" ha ha. i'll check it out. So sad that we are all geographically so far apart, we'd have a great ole time in some community centre each week.

has twinkle183 been loggin in? she was my text buddy but not heard from her for a few weeks so just wondered if she'd been on?

barbareebaa · 23/02/2009 20:53

Hi Drswife
how fab to have you back!! I too have a limpet child - I cannot put him down, he takes all his naps on me. He is sleeping o.k.ish at night (still have occasional 2/3hour awake periods ) Anyway you are not alone!!! You have an extrememly gorgeous girl btw
vbab thanks for posting about excema. Am using some cream prescribed by the dr at mo -is not too bad today but does flare up. The dr said as the cream seems to help when there are flare ups she is reluctant to prescribe anything stronger but am keeping an eye on it as it must be itchy sore when he's having a flare up

had a brill day today - W has been discharged from physio (he had a bent foot from position in womb) His heads not as wonky and has good control and is cute (according to physiotherapist)
Dh took W for a walk so attempted to bake cake but turnd out as a biscuit.

Anyhoo have put a new pic on my profile

daisy lol about dh

LackaDAISYcal · 23/02/2009 20:54

MerryMarigold · 23/02/2009 21:30

Hi all. Am pooped. Just come on to moan about my day and ds1 (alias the demon posessed boy). I am sick today (CFS) from a hideous weekend of ill children and v little sleep - and he knows it.

From 2.30pm till he went to bed at 7.30pm he managed to:

  • Break my antique chinese lamp, a wedding gift from my Gran from her antique collection (he was mucking about in my room when he said he was going up for a nap)
  • Poo in his pants and then sit on it, squashing it all in (I threw the pants and showered him off)
  • Made Jude scream his head off in pain, and he has been crying on and off since, while I was out of the room briefly. I have no idea what he did, Jude was in his bouncy chair and ds1 was in and out of the room playing. I don't know what to look for, because I don't know if he hit him or what? It's a bit worrying...
  • Hit Jude with a pencil
  • Threw money at my Dad
  • Hit me with a spoon and pull my hair really hard
  • Thew his food bowl (luckily empty) across the table
Somehow I managed not to lose it until he pulled my hair really hard then I threw him on the sofa and left him there for a bit while we both cooled down. I have no idea what to do with him and why he is behaving like this. I think he knows when I am not well, picks up on it and then pushes because he knows I do not have strength to deal with him. By the end of the day I really did hate him.
Tinkerisdead · 23/02/2009 21:30

barb i just got so excited, looking at your DS pics and remembered i was your secret stork!!! sorry if i shouldnt out myself but i just loved seeing his little outfit!!! yelled for DH to come and see. Ahhhh.

daisy i aint got a clue about coalville..i moved here to live with DH and hate the place. Im sure Coolkat knows what a poo-hole it is if she lives nearby. Its an old mining town, i know nothing of mines all my family are from london so i constantly get baffled my mining talk. esp embarrassing when it turns to miners strike chats (anniversary this week) as i was about 5 and dont know that much

coolkat · 23/02/2009 21:35

Lacks, just joined facebook and sent you a request! and who sent me the nipple cream - Ladybuzz?!

DrsWife Don't know Coalville that well, I am in market town - MM.

We should sort out a meet up.
Choc if your coming down here ot birmingham we could arrange a meetup at Fosse Park which is about 35 mins from Birmngham and 30 mins from me and Drswife

Tinkerisdead · 23/02/2009 21:38

yessssss fosse park i can manage easy. i dont know coalville either, now that i am a recluse!

chocolategal · 23/02/2009 21:49

aww sorry for your rubbish day mm always good to have a moan. hopefully tomorrow will be better.....
barbs W is absolutely beautiful! i agree with daisy we really have produced well

drswife how are you feeling now you have rejoined?

Bought some of those nelsons granules today which seemed to have helped to thanks to pinky and daisy for mentioning those!

ceebee how is sam? do you think he is teething too?

i'll add my LO to the rubbish at daytime naps list but cant complain too much as he is sleeping about the same as your DD drswife at night.

hope cp was good coolkat im going in june

AFingerofFudge · 23/02/2009 22:05

Hi Drs Wife, fudge here. I think I "appeared" by the time you disappeared. I was a lurker for months then finally posted when DS was a few weeks old I think. He is 11 weeks tomorrow.
I have 3 DS's. I really understand some of your feelings because when I had DS1 I lived in London and for the first few months knew hardly anyone with a baby (thankfully that changed and I made some very good friends). I didn't have a clue what I was doing and constantly felt like I was getting it all wrong.
Anyway, nice to "meet" you, I did read your posts just before you gave birth.

By the way, anyone who was on here a few days ago and knows my dilemmas about cleaners - my house is clean . Stupid to say but I feel so happy!!!

ChocOrange05 · 23/02/2009 22:08

No idea where Fosse Park is coolkat but I will get the TomTom out!! Now I have to convince my mum to lend me her car and put me on her insurance and then drive a massive 7-seater to you!! Ah the things we do to meet fellow strawberry ribenaberries!

barbareebaa · 23/02/2009 22:12

merry you are an amazing mum - what a day you've had and how well you have coped - i don't know how you do it Gosh - sending loads of hugs and sympathies and lemon drizzle biscuit. Hope tomorrow is better x

drswife Am so glad you outed yourself we have totally loved W's outfit!! Sadly has grown out of the trousers but still wears the top with jeans

Thanks for lovely msges about W

Daisy Sorry to hear about your unfortunate baking experience but Dh was very supportive about cake but when I went down to the kitchen discovered he had put a plate on it (not to keep cake moist but just as a place to keep the plate out of the way) He said 'Well it is just so flat'

Nigella I am not

LackaDAISYcal · 23/02/2009 22:36

bloody hell merry; what a day

I hope judo is OK.

DS1 really knows how to push all our buttons as well. Telling him "I'm tired" or "I'm ill" is like a red rag to fecking bull.

have a glass of wine to unwind and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. I hope the lamp is covered on your insurance (although prob no consolation as it has sentimental value)
