hurray - Luke now weighs 9lb 7oz so thats up for 8lb 4oz in 6 days

yes mj a meet up when warmer

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2009 16:00

That's wonderful oooggs
elkie, glad you've been discharged (what's a staggered discharge?)
caz, hope M gets some nicer medicine. It's horrible worrying about them being ill, and then worrying about them not taking their medicine!
Thanks for all the HB wishes. TBH I will discuss it with DH again but if he really feels uncomfortable with it then I won't push it. It isn't as though I desperately don't want a hospital birth - had a really positive experience last time. I would prefer a home birth but if it's going to make him really stressed (and I will tell him all the facts) then it's not worth it. He was worried anough last time, if he doesn't feel comfortable or is really worried that something will go wrong then I don't think it's fair to him.

NorthernLurker · 18/02/2009 17:45

Great news Oooggs - guess that's why he's been feeding so much!

SPB - that seems very sensible - you do both need to be happy with the birth. Your dh won't be able to support you properly if he isn't comfortable and confident.

geordieminx · 18/02/2009 18:22

Hey ladies, really pleased Luke is piling on the beef Oooggs - its all those macdonalds nutrients in his mummy milk

Shit afternoon here, spent mainly in hospital. I was putting my make-up on this morning, and felt a lump on my jaw line, popped off to the dentist, expecting to be told it was just swelling from wisdom teeth.... alas no, xrays, talk of fractured jaw, wired jaw, cyst, infection and I was sent straight up to A&E. Couldnt get anyone to look after C, so I had to take him with me, poor wee soul was as good as gold, even though we were there for 3 hours. I've been given a bag full of drugs, and have to go back on Sunday to see if its improved any, if not back under the knife.

Feeling a bit down in the dumps, and worn out, bu hopefully the anti b's will kick in and it'll be sorted.

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2009 19:20

GM you poor thing. So what is it exactly?

geordieminx · 18/02/2009 19:41

6 xrays later they have no idea

oooggs · 18/02/2009 19:41

blimey gm are you in pain?

well mixed feeding works in many ways, I am less stressed, ds3 is piling on pounds (and ounces!!) and it is flexible and works for my family.

geordieminx · 18/02/2009 20:04

its a bit sore, but I'm ok.

Pleased you are feeling better

elkiedee · 18/02/2009 22:14

Well, we got home from the meeting today, have to return tomorrow and Friday but if he continues to gain weight will be discharged to community midwives on Friday. Am a bit narked with some of what was said, particularly suggestions about missing cues and needing help with how I relate to C based on how I related to D. Basically, I'm not as relaxed in front of health care professionals who I feel are watching me to see what I do all the time as I am on my own or with people I don't think are judging me, I'm not that bad at understanding what my children need, most of the time - no, I'm not perfect but who is?

elkiedee · 18/02/2009 22:14

GM, ouch re your jaw, hope it feels better soon.

zazas · 18/02/2009 22:58

Hi, a little late - sorry but I just caught up and want to wish a big congratulations to you elkiedee. Sorry to hear that it was traumatic birth with the general c-section, that is always tough. Had one with my second BUT then a home birth with my third so you never know ! Take care and trust yourself - you know your baby better than anyone and it sounds like you are getting there. STB - I will back everyone else up that HBs are wonderful - my DP came around once he understood them better - I made him read bits of books! I also used a doula which was the best thing I could have done for all of us. All good here with my brood although S woke us last night at 3.30am and when I went in she just smiled and said "night night" and went back to sleep - .

Still at home, but C's weight gain slowed a bit yesterday, and we have to go back and see them today. It's getting to feel like a pain though better than being stuck in the hospital.

C wanted to be fed/held all night though was finally breastfed to sleep around 7.30 am this morning. Health visitor coming c 10 am, we then have to go up to the Whittington and we have an appointment to register Con at Islington Town Hall (borough he was born in) at 3.30 pm. All quite a whirl.

How are you feeling now GM?

How is Molly, Caz?

Hi CD and Zazas.

Love to everyone else.

NorthernLurker · 20/02/2009 09:46

Elkie - I hope they stop the daily weighing soon - it must be hugely stressful for you and whilst obviously it's important to check C is hydrated enough breastfed babies do often grow in jumps and starts not a constant curve. I know it's tough on you but I think the feeding all night is actually a really good sign - sounds like a growth spurt to me and he's feeding like mad to get your milk going. Lots of luck for later

Hi to everyone else I've got the day off again today and we're off to the railway museum when I can be bothered to get out of my pjs.

cazboldy · 20/02/2009 13:32

Hi all.... i know the feeling Dippy....

rang the dispensary yesterday to see if there was any way they could disguise the taste. Later on the doctor phoned me back, and said we could stop the anti b's provided she had no temp. she has 5 days of steroids, to help her to clear her lungs, and she does actually seem a bit better today thanks for asking Elkie, really hope things continue to improve for C and you xxxxx

Had a lovely afternoon with elmajo on wednesday J is such a sweetie

Hope you have a nice day out NL

Hope all of the rest of you have been enjoying he half term xxxxx

Sexonlegs · 20/02/2009 19:26

Hello

Elkie, sorry that you have been having such a rough ride. Thinking of you and your famiy. I hate the whole weighing thing tbh.

Oooggs, really glad things sound a bit more settled for you all. No harm in ff; if it suits all round, then that is a real plus.

Eddas, you sound really on top of the World! It is fab having ots of things lined up isn't it. Enjoy

Caz, how is M doing? Poor lamb.

Leaky, really sorry you are feeling pants. Hope the time with your Mum goes well, but sorry to hear she is not so good. Good news though re all the pg ladies in your family

Mav, lovely to see you. I bet Majorca is warming up isn't it??

SPB, glad the mw appt went well.

Hi to everyone else - sorry for lack of personals, but have been up since 3 a.m. to get our flight back from our ski-ing trip! Am utterly shattered!! It was a good few days, but very tiring. However, B has learned to ski which made it all worthwhile.

Love to all. xx

leakyR · 20/02/2009 20:44

Hi all

Soooo tired. Was up through the night being sick (morning sickness I think). Dh should be here in half an hour and the ILs are at a concert this evening so I can slob out if I like.

Has been lovely to catch up with some friends and their dc while we've been here but the time spent with my parents has been tough. Can't see a way out of it tbh and my poor mam is a mess. Feel like I want to scream and shout and kick my arsehole dad but know it won't get me or my mam anywhere. It's exhausting.

Elkie - thing sound so hard for you atm. Don't let anyone make you doubt your abilities. You are a wonderful mother.

Caz - glad M is seeming better today and that you're not having to force foul tasting ab on her anymore.

oooggs - glad luke is gaining weight and you've found a balance that works for all of you

GM - hope that you're feeling better and they get to the bottom of the problem for you.

Off to find out where MIL has hidden her chocolate. I need it

geordieminx · 20/02/2009 21:08

leaky - I have a link to a voucher for 2 for1 at diggerland if you interested?

Eddas · 20/02/2009 22:12

pmsl at all my typos

elkiedee · 21/02/2009 00:10

Thanks all again

Good news is that C's weight shot up, as NL said that night feeding must have done some good. We don't have to go in for the next two days, doctor we talked to there was quite willing to allow us to get him weighed by health visitor team at local health centre on Monday, but unfortunately a consultant has overruled her and we have to go back to the Whittington on Monday. Hopefully we'll get Tuesday and Wednesday off for good behaviour!

We registered C's birth today as well. He is Conor Gareth Leon, then dp's surname as a 3rd middle name like his brother, then my surname.

Today's excitement - my sister had her first baby, a daughter, just 6 days late, even bigger than C - over 10 lb, and born by caesarian (she's a doctor herself, and asked for a CS at the first sign of any problems). I heard via my dad who heard from her dh so am hoping for more info like the name, some of the birth story. Seems like it finally happened fairly quickly as I spoke to her on the phone at 9.30 pm on Thursday night and nothing was happening then.

I'm going to buy the baby a pressie from a company called Gossyppium, owned by my cousin's ex girlfriend who was at uni in my home town - they specialise in eco cotton clothes including beautiful baby blankets and clothing - my mum and her dh gave us a gift set for D when he was born.

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2009 09:28

Hi everyone
Sorry I've been a bit absent, have been on and off as ghad man flu and been feeling dreadful!
