That's cool, I just wondered if there was any specific reason. Not that you need a specific reason for Moulin Rouge imho [girn]

Morning!

Caz - at the loss of your tumble drier.

SOL - hope your last day was ok and not too emotional.

GM - have you looked on the web? There's bound to be a diet involving pop tarts somewhere. I remember losing weight when we set a date; 21lbs, then 7 or 8 sneaked back on just before the wedding.

To add the list of reasons why I hate being me. Yesterday I fell off a kerb very awkwardly and badly sprained my left foot. Imagine Humpty Dumpty with a limp. Spent 5 hours at hospital waiting for an x ray etc. Grrr. Still hurts like heck today but G is at nursery today so I'm trying to rest it.

leakyR · 06/03/2009 14:43

Just realised last post should have startted with "Afternoon!"

Self obsessed rant alert:

Well I've just discovered that last year pupils living further away then we do got into our school of choice - obviously this year there are more living closer . Were this last year dd1 would have got in by more than 1/10 of a mile - which is practically nothing isn't it - but it seems like a lot right now. If anybody wins an appeal that would push us down the waiting list effectively - and last year three appeals were won BUT I know they were triplets (went to the same primary as dd1 and dd2) so I'm kind of regarding that as 1 place won because obviously their grouonds were all the same. Despite that the school only admitted their maximum number and no more so that means that at least three people dropped out from the initial allocation. If nobody had dropped out they would have admitted the max + 3 iyswim. I've also established that there is no fixed date by which they will know everybody is accepting the places so it's 6 months of not being too definate about anything. I feel quite stressed and sad and cross with myself because the other school is FINE, but this one is closer and we prefer it and dd1 - who is so brave and sensible picked it and I want to make it right for her! Ok - so who thinks I'm becoming obsessed with this...

Doobydoo · 06/03/2009 17:09

Oh NlI don't hink you are being ott AT ALL.It is also awful that you are in a sort of hopeful limbo.V.v.streesful for you and I am sorry.

Eddas · 06/03/2009 17:10

NL, not obessessed, you just want the right school for your dd, which you have chosen, I can understand that. Having been through the primary admissions it all seems quite unfair tbh. But secondary applications are even more of a lottery IMO because they normally aren't close by like more primarys are.

Is there really no date by which you have to accept a place with dd's primary place there was definately a date which you had to send back your acceptance.

My BIL/SIL are dealing with this issue atm as my nephew is going in sept too. They got their 3rd choice school but only really wanted choice 1 or 2, and put 3 down to fill the form up, probably not the most sensible way to choose. My friend works in a secondary school so i asked her about the school he's ben given and apparently it is not a good school at all under special measures, which I suppose might not be a bad thing The trouble in our area is that we are still running under the Grammar school system, which is great if you pass the 11+ but I believe most of the non-grammars are a bit Without being mean to my nephew he was never going to pass the 11+ and I doubt my other nephew will either, so it was always going to be the pick of a bad bunch.

I reall yhope it all works out for your dd1 and i'm sure it will fingers tightly crossed that someone drops out and she is able to go to the school you chose.

Eddas · 07/03/2009 08:03

did I offend everyone with my last post Where are you all?!

runnyhabbit · 07/03/2009 08:09

Those links bring back memories
"Your Song" was our first dance at our evedning do
We couldn't decide on Elton or Ewan, so asked the dj what he thought Ended up having Elton at the beginning, and Ewan at the end.

runnyhabbit · 07/03/2009 08:28

btw...Morning

NL - Totally understandable to rant about it. You are doing what any good parent does, and trying to ensure that your child has the best you can possibly get x

StealthPolarBear · 07/03/2009 08:30

Morning all
Just adding chocolate pop tarts to shopping list - not for me, you understand, but the baby.
NL Basically you're just hanging on - frustrating.

runnyhabbit · 07/03/2009 08:32

CAZ - a friend told me about the Comet auction site. Basically Comet auction off stuff that's been returned/repaired. She bought the same tumble drier as me for £80. (I paid £150) I think it had been returned because the side was dented And with full warranty, everything.
Have found a link

runnyhabbit · 07/03/2009 08:34
