Good luck Honeymoonmummy, dairy free is hard. But it will be worth it. Can I ask why you are so anti giving Poopy some simple first foods? I know all about the research but most healthcare professionals recommend that in severe non-med responsive reflux then weaning is the best thing. That was one of the reasons I started to wean William. We have almost no sickness now. Although I found out that William REALLY doesnt like Lentils. Not surprising mind you as I think they are the devils own food

CSWS I use the Tomy Tippee hand pump. It is pretty good. I hope you can get out on Friday.

Honeymoonmummy · 25/02/2009 22:01

Her name is Poppy not Poopy. Unless she's having a bad day...

With all the talk of early weaning being linked to bowel disease I would sooner find another way to help her and dairy-free is a way to do that. I would be worried that I may be causing some bowel damage long-term without knowing it for years. When did you start weaning? Was it you who said you'd researched it and you had a scientific mind? Do you have any good links re early weaning I can read in case the DF doesn't work and she doesn't gain weight?

The doc said HV's are really anti- early weaning before 6 months whereas paeds are pro early weaning in the right circs. I wish they'd just get their stories straight cos I'm starting to get sick of it and I suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg!

My DD1 has made me give up chocolate for lent!! What is that all about.

I am watching ER from last week while recording Desparate Housewives. So I can miss the adverts. Why does ER seem intent on makeing me cry every week

Hopefully Ekka is ok. MRSA is easily treated so fingers crossed it should be better.

ronshar · 25/02/2009 22:28

Oh my god I am so very sorry HMM. I cant believe I got your babies name wrong. That will teach me for not checking and watching television at the same time. Sorry.

Yes it was me with the early weaning. 16 weeks. I spent weeks looking. I came away not convinced that the current advice is set in stone, exactly like the old peanut advice!

Honeymoonmummy · 25/02/2009 22:37

I'm still avoiding peanuts, DH gets hayfever and is allergic to some pets. Was that the wrong thing to do??

ronshar · 25/02/2009 22:54

Who knows my love! I avoided peanuts with DD1, she has a nut allergy, dogs, excema! I didnt avoid them with DD2 and she is allergy free! It is all a mystery to me.
It is very hard to wade through all the diffrerent information that gets thrown at you as a mother. Just wait until you start being made to feel guilty about giving your child the MMR or not giving!

ronshar · 25/02/2009 23:04

Who is on face book here? I have an account it would be great if anyone wants to add me. How needy does that sound

star6 · 26/02/2009 06:10

I do facebook! Ill do a searc for "ronshar"
LOL at "poopy". Im not avoiding peanuts.... forgot about it.. oops!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/02/2009 07:10

I don't avoid peanuts. I did when pregnant with dd and in the early days of bf, but no way was I staying nut free all this time! I ate them freely whilst pg with ds - there was so little that I could eat because of the diabetes that I actually ended up having loads of them!

ronshar/star - hmm and I are both on fb. email me on cantsleepwontsleep at gmail dot com and I'll tell you my real name to search for (there are only 2 of me on fb iirc).

at Poopy!

Really bad night here. Ds up at 10:10, 12:15, 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:15, 5:15 and then up for the day at 6:05.

jenwa · 26/02/2009 08:01

p.s I should be easy to find on FB as you just need to add nifer on the end of the first part of my name and tton on the end!
See if you can find me.....

Marthasmama · 26/02/2009 08:10

I am on FB too! I'm also a member of the Mumsnet group but I haven't checked to see if any of you are as I have been too busy with Mumsnet! My email is michelle_emma at hotmail dot com. Send me a message and I'll give you my name too!

Sounds terrible CSWS - you must be shattered. I am eating nuts and did when I was pg. MW told me it was unless someone in the family actually had a nut allergy.

Ronshar - God, yes the dreaded MMR! DS didn't have it and we were made to feel like terrible parents when he went for his pre-school boosters. The nurse tried to railroad us into have it and when we refused lectured us about keeping him away from anyone who might have measles etc! He did get measles two weeks ago, but he was only ill for two days and then fine!

Marthasmama · 26/02/2009 08:22

Jenwar, there are a few of you. Are you the one with no picture? Ronshar, found you on the mumsnet group and added you.

jenwa · 26/02/2009 08:27

jenwa · 26/02/2009 08:29

Marthasmama · 26/02/2009 08:33

star6 · 26/02/2009 10:05

jenwa · 26/02/2009 10:07

Marthasmama · 26/02/2009 10:14

No, I was being genuine!!

It would be funny if we had friends in common, especially as we live so far away from each other. I am always amaezed at how many of my totally unconnected friends randomly know each other.
