heather - why can't HE leave the room whilst you feed rather than you having to hide away? You're not a leper ffs!! my fil gets a bit embarassed but he just goes into another room with the paper for a bit or outside, i think its a generation thing but he would be mortified if i had to go to the bedroom because of him!!

i am hoping that ds1 will be dry at night soon (3yo) but he is a very heavy wetter at night. Last night, Joe had two consecutive poos within 2 mins of each other both involved full clothes change as he poos infrequently and likes to make them worhtwhile!! DS1 then woke and had 3 consecutive poos in the potty. cue lots of tooing and froing which woke Joe again - aaaggghhhh. i think there is something in this synchronised pooing. they both pooed copiously on sunday as well....didn't get to find out if the 2 nappy strategy worked as i changed it when he pooed....will try again tonight

What a lovely conversation and like pistachi, i've even bored myself!!!

Wow, I thought we'd moved on from poo to wee, but hey ho... Can I chip in with vomit? Poppy has been really sick today and is not in a good mood at all She had quite a dry nappy overnight and hasn't pooed since Weds night (see, I got poo and wee in too! ), so I was gonna ring the docs this morning, what with her not gaining weight, but she's had wet nappies this morning so I'm holding off...

myjob - her birth weight was 90oz. Her weight gained is 73.5oz (4lb 9.5oz). So the % gained is 73.5/90 x 100 = 81.7%.

CSWS - assume you have put duncan into the sooper dooper 12 hour huggies? Emma produces a trememdous amount of wee but these (size three) seem to last the full night (they are so heavy in the morning!)

star6 · 13/02/2009 20:38

YAY myjob congrats on the weight gain!!
I've been away as my dad and his wife have been visiting this week... what a very, very, very very tiring week!!!! ugh! I can't even begin to tell you.

But last night was scary Q vomited with blood in it, then a globule of brown (dark brown) slimy stuff. I called NHS direct and the out of hours gp saw me at the hospital at 815pm. Oh and Q had not had a poo in 10 days. So he gave me lactulose to give him and said he couldn't see any reason for the blood in vomit (my nipples arent bleeding right now either). Well, today when out and about, Q vomited after a feed and it was ALL BROWN, pure brown. He had regular white spittles after that the remainder of the day, but hte brown really has me freaked right out of my head! He had a ginormous poo that covered all of the back of his clothes while we were in London today... that was great fun for grandma to clean up

Has anyone else's ds/dd had brown vomit or vomit with blood in it? Also, in his nappy that day there were a few pink spots in it (just wet nappy with pink spots) GP said it's "normal" (??). AND he has this reddish rash on his face (little tiny reddish dots) on his forehead and nose/around eyes - that he's never ever had before. He's had a baby acne spot here and there, but never these little tiny dots things...
I just have no idea whats going on but everyone keeps telling me not to worry... but, well, I know I dont have the best mummy instincts, but something just isn't sitting right with me. It doenst seem right. He's happy sometimes, but there have been a few times over past few days where he has just screamed so loud and for so much longer than ever before. Sorry for the epic post. I'm just so worried!!

star6 · 13/02/2009 20:39

heather throw him a newspaper when you bf or something Best of luck on your holiday!

star6 · 13/02/2009 20:43

OH and he's been sleeping about 10-11 hours at night (with 2-3 wakings of about 1-2 minutes each, just binkie in or pat on back and back to sleep) along with every day this week two 1.5-2 hour naps per day + a 40 minute nap between 4pm-5pm. It's lovely and nice of course, can't complain... but again just SO UNUSUAL!!! I'm convinced that there is something wrong that they are not picking up on and I just have no idea waht to ask them to look for! ideas?

loulou33 · 13/02/2009 20:49

right i'm determined to make my post more interesting this time pistachio - no more poo and wee from me!!

myjob - well done on the weight gain and 82% gain is brilliant and i'm glad you got to see your proper hv this time.

Star - i've never had a baby vomit brown/blood but i'm sure someone somewhere on mn will have done. Has he had a temp or a cold recently. the rash could be a post-viral rash both of mine get them about 24 hours after being ill/high temp. is it anywhere else on him?? If you're still worried, take him back to gp/out of hours. Don't worry about feeling neurotic, they are used to it and you have to go with your instincts if you feel its not right. they would rather see him and reassure that all is well than you not take him and worry iyswim ...

nope i don't think my post was anymore interesting than last night.....oh well

loulou33 · 13/02/2009 20:58

honeymoon - sorry taht Poppy was sick today but hopefully she'll be better tomorrow. btw i MUST thank you a lot for link to bf neckalce. i bought one today and it has been a godsend in getting Joe to concentrate on feeding rather than looking around the room all the time. he was a nightmare to feed this am but since i got the necklace he has had three good long feeds with little fussing so i am hoping i have topped up the tank enough for him to sleep longer tonight.....myjob, did you think N was getting distracted too? It might be worth trying this as well

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/02/2009 20:59

I have no idea what could be the cause of all that star, but I would def start a thread about it (put as much info as poss in the title) if I were you. I am of course assuming that he hasn't started solids yet?

KSal - are you saying that there are some other huggies that I should be trying? I have had the ones in a reddish packet. Mind you, the Sainsbury's ones are cheaper, so I'm quite happy to stick with them if they are good. No leaks overnight, despite still feeding almost every hour, so that's pretty good.

OP posts:
heather1980 · 13/02/2009 21:18

CSWS- they also do huggies in a blue packet. they are staydry 12 hours ones. the red ones are natural fit.

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/02/2009 21:42

Ahhhhh. I clearly haven't studied nappies enough! Thanks heather.

OP posts:
aubergenie · 13/02/2009 21:43

Been busy for the last few days and there is so much to catch up on!

Star - Sorry to hear you're so worried. It must be horrible. When we got back from hospital with Stanley we found streaks of red in his nappy. It looked like blood. I was totally freaked out and started a thread about it. Hereit is. It sounds like it's normal for a newborn, but I don't know about an older baby. We didn't have the brown vomit though. Sorry, that probably isn't much help. I hope you get some answers from somebody soon.

aubergenie · 13/02/2009 22:13

And I meant to say: Yihaa! Well done to Myjob and Naomi! Fantastic news.

Ekka · 13/02/2009 22:38

Star poor you, if you have any worries definitely go back to the doctors/out of hours. Trust me, you are not being paranoid if he seems not right to you. The naps might just be because he's found a routine that suits him? I know that dd at this age suddenly 'clicked' with daytime sleeping, sadly I can't say the same for ds... But the blood I'm not sure about. Brown would suggest its not fresh, but I've not got any other thoughts!

Myjob - congrats on the weight gain! It sounds as if things are on track for you both.

We've had a cr@p couple of days - the swab that was taken on Matthew's cradle cap came back with MRSA, so he now has to have a daily wash in some special soap, plus two creams on his scalp three times a day & kept separate from everyone where possible. We have to use the wash on our hands after touching him. Mind you, after one wash in it, his eczema on his legs appears to have cleared up . Wish I could say the same for my hands, as I'm the one dealing with Matthew the most, my hands are red raw and we have to do another 4 days of this! Oh well, lets hope that it all works and helps clear up his issues. I've stopped the dairy free for the moment, dh brought me a cup of tea early on with milk in and I swigged it all before I realised. TBH I've got enough on my mind at the moment without trying to sort my diet as well. Once we're off all these creams/washing etc I'll try again....

KSal · 13/02/2009 23:29

yes, those are the ones heather1980 Ekka that sounds awful, but thank god it has been spotted. Do they think the four days will lear it up? it sounds really scary

Ekka · 14/02/2009 03:12

KSal - just been on the phone to our out of hours service because ds' head is now red raw & he has a huge gash across the top. Can't tell whether he did it himself or the skin just split. So we're doing another trip to hospital tomorrow morning to their clinic so he can be checked out by the doctor.

Oh well, off to bed. Lets hope the poor lad's head doesn't get any worse....

SmudgeyDoodle · 14/02/2009 03:53

Ekka that sounds really tough for you all. i hope that they can sort something out at the hospital because i bet it is realy sore for M. Star did you get in touch with the drs? I agree with the others that brown blood sounds old. Still very worrying though. CSWS we use the 12 hour huggies with DS and he just has one all night. We're still in pampers with DD. At this age DS was leaking in pampers so we swapped to huggies but so far DD has a mega wet nappy in the morning but it doesn't seem to leak. She's long and thin whereas DS was rather more rotund
I'm having an aaaagggghhhh moment tonight. DS had HepA and B jabs today ready for our hols (10 days!!!!) and he's been up 4 times since 2am. DD fed at 12.15 and then 2.45 and now I'm wide awake. DH is breathing wrong and peeing me off so I thought I'd come on here to rant. Really pleased to hear about weight gain Myjob. Glad you got to see nice HV at last. Are you going to leave the weighing now til whenever you had next planned it? Can't believe N is nearly 6 months when DD is just over 3. Saying that, very of your night sleep as we are just getting back to every 2.5 hours after a few nights of every hour. Nice to hear that Aubergine and honeymoon are in the same boat because our LO are about same age. Right off to read some random stuff before I go back to bed. Hope you're all tucked up in the land of nod

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/02/2009 06:33

if only I was in the land of nod smudgey. We're 2 weeks in to the waking every hour or so, and currently won't sleep unless laying across my chest latched on, whereby I can't sleep, so I thought I'd mn on my new phone! I am sooooo tired!

Eek for mrsa ekka. It sounds horrid.
