Ekka , poor DS and poor you. I hope he's ok. Any idea where he picked it up from?

Ekka · 15/02/2009 16:23

We're not sure, he's had really bad cradle cap & that went weepy & infected, so thats probably where it got into his system.

Its all fun here, especially trying to keep dd away from ds!

doggus · 15/02/2009 17:20

Ekka - MRSA, poor you and the family, makes our colds here seem a little more trivial.

Dh has taken ds over to see the Mother-in-Law-from-Hell, poor fool. So what does a pregnant woman do with a few hours to herself on a dull Sunday? Goes to McDonalds specially for a McFlurry and cleans out the kitchen cupboards. I'm a walking cliche. I should be having a frantic affair or summat.

Holly - just heard on the radio that all roads to and from IKEA are rammed....you were right!

Bumperslucious · 15/02/2009 17:23

Oh no ekka, that's terrible. Poor DS, hope he is ok.

OP posts:
FrazzledFairyFay · 15/02/2009 17:34

for Ekka and family. You just don't expect to have such a horrid thing happen from something seemingly so 'normal' do you?

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 17:38

Ekka, hope all is well for you soon, and special hugs for DS.

NO! doggus, don't mention MIL/kitchen cupboards. Feel we really need to visit MIL soon, and my kitchen cupboards have been calling me for a couple of days What kind of McFlurry did you have?

doggus · 15/02/2009 18:44

Ria your MIL honestly can't be as bad as mine. This is the woman who when I said I looked fat in a photo she said 'the camera doesn't lie dear' and shook her head ruefully. She is 91 and very adept at manipulating my dh. I have totally refused to see her for a year (for far worse crimes than the photo incident) and feel so much better for it

And breathes....I had a big fat Yorkie McFlurry and now I feel sick.

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 19:00

maybe not doggus, but she might be when she's 91! (I think the wedding photo of DH and ExW has been removed since they moved house) We ought to visit though, haven't been since before Xmas.

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 19:01

oops, sorry. didn't mean to be dismissive she sounds quite horrible, there's no need for that kind of bluntness is there.

doggus · 15/02/2009 20:13

Jesus, Ria she kept a photo up of dh with ex-wife? Harsh. Mine would have done that except dh hasn't been wed before and she hated all his exes just as much as me, it's pathological. She's an alcoholic and a very sad woman.

Do you HAVE to visit yours? It must be difficult if she lives far away as she has to see dc's. At least mine is 5 miles away and so gets to see ds once a week without moi.

Sputnik · 15/02/2009 20:31

Ekka, I hope your DS is better soon, that must be such a worry for you.

Yeah, get me with my 2 houses indeed. We are considering renting our current house out as a holiday let once we've fixed up a few things (that'll be in 2015 then), as we are going to be poor otherwise. Special discount for June 2007ers! There are no stairs inside this house either.

Nice about your trip Burnsie Where will you be going?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/02/2009 20:55

Evening all.

Ekka - poor DS! Poor you! Hope you get the all clear soon [fingers crossed] But it's awful that it happened at all.

Burnsi - I've got the 55-200 lens (I've got a D50) but haven't really used it yet other than a few test shots to check it was in working order when I got it (Lovely DH got it for me for birthday/Xmas ). Need to use it though and brush up in general with my camera skills as I'm doing wedding photos on Jul 29th, eeek.

I am now very thankful to have such a nice MIL! We have had a couple of "moments" but on the whole she's wonderful!

FrazzledFairyFay · 15/02/2009 21:24

Has Daisy been around today? Hope she's ok, she seemed to be feeling pretty bad yesterday.

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 21:32

was wondering about daisy too.

well, I have steak, lamb chops, white wine (didn't fancy the pink fizz int he end) and valentines chocolate orange, and no DH... (he is out "prospecting"!)

so am watching Mamma Mia with DS1 and wine and posh crisps (he is having a bottle of shandy)

MIL seems to have attachment issues with exes, BIL1s ex was favourite until she tried to claim half of the house afetr he dumped her after 15 years. BIL2s GF was "our X" for ages after they split and he got engaged to SIL and used to meet for lunch and stuff. The only one with a cow for an ex is BIL3 who is a twat. They had 3 kids together but now the divorce is through only 2 are his. I don't hink she means to be nasty (sometimes) I just don't think she thinks.

At the moment mostly pics of Jamlet Prior to having her, holiday/travel/nature/plants/some "arty" stuff. There's a fair selection on my FB, particularly see the "favourites" album. I am also considering getting an external flash, but don't really know much about them. Any hints would be appreciated. One thing I MUST get before July though is a decent tripod as mine is cheap and crappy.

Not saying that your MIL is right Ria (she sounds very odd if you ask me) but one of my Aunts is still in touch with her DS's ex. Now at first that sounds wierd, but when you consider they were married for 40 years before he left her for a woman from his work, you can kind of understand it. I still send his ex a card at Christmas actually - why should she lose all the family she's known for years and years because her husband leaves her? But that is probably totally different to the situations your described I admit.

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 22:01

she probably is right jammy, TBH they are all a bit odd (even DH at times but he's learning!) she won't refer to BIL1s latest ex by name anymore, because she chose to end the relationship. But he has unlimited access to his kids so I don't know what her problem is really. He is a tart. I think she might be mellowing now she's realised she won't get rid of me that easily! (but I spent far too long feeling like "the other woman" despite their divorce being long before I came into the picture)

Colin Firth is the sexiest gay man alive (apart from Captain Jack even DH agrees with that) My favourite "Abba" song!

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 22:02

I know he isn't gay really BTW. Just living the moment!

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 22:02

oh and dreading the bit where DS realises the character is gay...

justbeme · 15/02/2009 22:18

So sorry to hear about DS Ekka.

Tallulah - errhhh - re DD and her helping!!

My DP made us rib eye steak, mushrooms, toms ,onion rings and chips last night - he doesnt DO any form of cooking and it was LOVELY!!

Ive just eaten a bag of Walkers Fish and Chips crips - quite nice! Has any one tried any of the other ones???

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/02/2009 22:27

Oooh, I quite fancy the fish & chips crisps. Tried one of a friends chilli & chocolate ones the other day - bleugh!

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 22:32

hi JBM. DS1 (mini ecowarrier) was truly disgusted at seeing the squirrel flavour today!

sweet chilli sensations here. (and back to diet tomorrow) am not so good at "new" flavours. though baggins did try to drag the giant cardboard Linekar out of tesco - how does baggins know that I would happily have had his children once (italia 90, I was 12, so that's a whole new thread, but oh, those legs.)

can you still buy those Fish & chips snack things that you could get in the '80s?

BTW, I meant the song on the boat. I'm not sure if DS1 is getting it. I know he should be in bed

justbeme · 15/02/2009 22:36

MMmmmm couldnt resist - knew we had Duck and Hoisin in the pantry! Yum Yum - prefer them to fish and chips!!
somehow dont think I'll be buying the Squirrel Crips. (Sputnik wonders what we're talking about!)
here

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/02/2009 22:39

Not that good with "new flavours" eaither here Ria I much prefer S&V or Ready Salted to any other flavours. Cheesy Bunions is acceptable, but whatever you do, don't give me chicken flavour (bleugh!)

Mmmm, could just fancy a nice bag of crisps right now, but shop is shut, I couldn't be arsed to go out now anyway, and I'm being healthy. Shame though.

justbeme · 15/02/2009 22:40

I feel sorry for Garys first wife seeing him in the papers with all those gorgeous women!
Fish n Chips... I can taste them - werent they in a white bag with newspaper print on it?I used to love sucking them to death!!! But then maybe thats another story!!

Like the way I eat a Twix - or used to , I nibble all the way round the finger... and then strip off the toffee and then suck the biscuit!!
I know Im weird!!
