Wilkie - congrats on the blue

Shimmer - glad you're enjoying it, sounds totally exhausting

Raisin/eandh - ditto on sleep deprivation. Am shattered. And have so much less patience when shattered

Who was asking about milk? I don't intend to swap mine over to semi skimmed any time soon TBH. I admit I am totally anal about what they eat and drink, but as far as milk is concerned, I feel they are 2 healthy and very active kids in no danger of obesity. I think at this age they need calories, especially since I'm so anal about what they eat otherwise !

We had a burst water main here, which was a PITA as these things are. The whole mains pipe is rusted to hell. But the complete donkey who had the house before us built an extension over the water main, so if we decided to replace the whole pipe to prevent more bursts (or if we don't replace it and wait until it does burst again) we would have to dig up the floor and remove half of the kitchen to reach it . This is the same twat as did DIY plumbing and electrics which left us with an enormous leak in an unearthed house

Reg - aw that is exactly what I did yesterday - they are so teeny aren't they!!! Can't believe J was every that small.

Vino - oh dear re garden. What is it like?

Well the chickenpox is it/isn't it debate continues to rage. J has been really poorly all night with a high fever and has got two bright red large spots on his tummy. Dr thinks it may be chickenpox so I guess we will see in the morning if anymore have appeared. This may scupper the meet up on Sat unless you want a chickepox party?? Mum coming tonight to have J tomorrow as I was off work Mon and have SO MUCH to do that I just cannot afford to be off tomorrow. DH was off with J today. I love my mum she's fab. I just want her to be nearer

Reggiee · 17/03/2009 21:51

Hmm...I think I'd prefer to avoid chickenpox at the moment . See how J gets on in the next couple of days and keep us updated. Hope he's not too poorly.

2H can you remind me of your train times, and I'll email re picking up from station details. What do your ds's eat? Is shepherd's pie type thing ok?

Just back from pampering (was fab) so think I need to go and say hello to dh.

Lizzzombie · 18/03/2009 09:37

omg, I feel dreadful.
Has anyone ever had anything wrong with their kidney area before?
You know when you have a terrible hangover and your lower back area just aches, well, I've had it for a couple of weeks now, and this morning its killing me. (def no hangover!)
I hate going to our Drs as I am sure he thinks I am a total hypochondriac. Does anyone know of anything which could 'cure' me over the counter? I'm wiped out!

Reggiee · 18/03/2009 13:40

Lizz is it a urine infection gone wrong? I had this years ago where what started as a urine infection infected my kidneys - it is said to be as painful as childbirth and indeed I was in absolute agony so big sympathies. Get down to your docs asap. I had antibotics to clear it, and the recommended cranberry juice.

How's J today Wilkie?

Good mw visit this morning. Apparently she is v confident the lo is head down - nice that he's the right way round!

2Happy · 18/03/2009 19:19

Reg - arr 11.09
dep 17.07

Kids will eat anything except broccoli or sprouts! (Though in past experience they appear to think that the sole purpose of train travel is to eat for the entire journey...)

OP posts:
Wilkiepedia · 18/03/2009 19:29

Jsut a quickie - Lizz I second what Reg said, I had kidney infection and absolutely killed my lower back area. You need to go to GP armed with a urine sample and they can tell you straight away if it's an infection. Can be REALLY nasty so go tomorrow!!!!! Drink cranberry juice in the meantime.

Not sure what is happening with J. He still has one red spot with blister on top on his tummy, very clingy, feverish and whingy. Will play it by ear re Sat - not coming unless he is totally well.

Wilkiepedia · 18/03/2009 21:47

BY the way Reggiee & PCF. I am intending to be tested privately for Group B Strep again this pg, I didn't know if you knew about it (it's £38) but if you want to order a free test pack you need to email [email protected] for one which they send out, you take the swabs at 36 weeks and send back to them. Results in 48 hours.

Only reason I feel so strongly about it is due to a family tragedy involving Group B Strep so I would always recommend being tested but of course up to you.

Just thought I would mention.

xx

Reggiee · 19/03/2009 11:03

Funnily enough Wilkie, I was talking to my neighbour earlier today and she had Strep B. It doesn't get talked about much does it?

2H / Vino / Wilkie have emailed you all re Saturday. Managed to push the hoover around this morning in your honour

Another nice day here. Am loving the sunshine and warmth. Off out for lunch shortly with my friend.

vinorouge · 19/03/2009 12:19

sounds very civilised rgee!

lizz - hope you got sorted at teh docs

Lizzzombie · 19/03/2009 13:37

2H/Vino/Wilie/Rgee - Very jealous of your meet up!
So, Dr tested my wee, nothing weird going on, but has put me on antibiotics anyway.
Dp has been signed off with acute tendonistus, apparently its the worse case the Dr has ever seen. He literally cannot walk without starting to shake in pain, & his ankle looks like an elephants ankle.
Oh, and obviously DJ still has his ear infection, with high temperatures still. Am force feeding him the Ab's, but goodness knows if they are working.
We were supposed to be going to Wales this weekend. Thats cancelled now.
Well, at least the sun is shining!

Thought I would be a good mum Halo and get paint pen things out and £ shop £1 canvasses and try to encourage DJ to do something creative like he does at nursery (he's been off all week). Didn't work. He wasn't interested. I however have produced a very modern doodle!

I'm thinking a spot of baking may make me feel better.
Laters [hobble]

vinorouge · 20/03/2009 10:16

Lizz - hope you all get better soon. It annoys me when I try to be creative for E and she is totally uninterested in it.

Off work unexpectedly today as sylvie got a rash and spots, skin infection according to drs so I am gonna get the washing done and the house cleaned. As well as play with her when she is awake of course!

Well it is CP. Although he has got away with only 3 spots and two of those already scabbed over. Mind you, he has been so poorly for the last 10 days that I think he deserves not to be covered in spots bless him.

Lizz - what a nightmare. Sending get well vibes to you all

Vino - poor S. It will be a collection of spotty, scabby children at this meet up tomorrow

BOTTLES POLL: Any preferences to Tommy Tippe Clsoer to Nature or the Avent bog standard ones? Gonna buy some this weekend in preparation of expressing and/or FF dependent on my BFing plans Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

wilkie - from a practical point of view its great if you can use tt bottles as they do those little tubs that sit inside the bottle to keep powder separate from water til you need it. TBH Sylvie uses both tt and avent bottles cos she was happier with avent when I first used a bottle but I wanted her to be happy with tt for the reason I just gave. Not looked at pcf's link but I noticed tt stuff on offer in morrisons the other day.

Sylvie woke up for a delayed brek at 11am, sat happily in her bumbo while I hoovered. She was nappy free and did a poo so that was a bit messy - good reason for a bath. I slathered her in the cream when she was dry and now she's asleep again. Time to hoover upstairs!

PCF - the move seems near now!

vinorouge · 20/03/2009 13:32

we are desperate for sylvie to want/learn to hold her own bottle. Can't remember when Ellen did it but Sylvie is showing no signs.

Reggiee · 20/03/2009 19:54

I used Avent last time but am going to also use TT this time. Think they may be on offer at a lot of places atm. I noticed Wilkinsons had good deals on TT stuff this week.

PCF hope you are finding time to relax . I bet you can't wait to get moved in and unpacked.

Vino I don't remember P ever holding her own bottle. But my memory is dreadful atm.

Lizz how are all the family illnesses today? Your poor dp/

Well sorry to 2H and Vino (and Wilkie), but I've banned Wilkie from visiting tomorrow in a fit of selfishness . With a 2 week incubation period, I don't think I can face the possibility of P getting CP when I'm 37 weeks pg. Just my luck that she'll get it anyway given it's spreading round nursery atm.

How's everyone else? Looking forward to the weekend?

Wilkiepedia · 20/03/2009 21:46

Don't be daft Reg - I totally understand. I would be gutted if he spread it to the others! Just so bluddy typical - he only ever seems to get ill when we have plans

PCF - thanks for link, have reserved some TT bottles at Argos. I assume I can still use my Avent steriliser with them?

Lizzzombie · 21/03/2009 08:29

Just a quickie!
Wilkie - Poor J. But, hey ho, better sooner than later. One girl I know is about to give birth any moment, and her 20 month old has just got it. She is not happy!

I'm taking DJ to the cinema this morning its one of those £1 showings for small children, and I am not sure that we will last longer than 5 mins!

Tommee Tippee bottles etc will be on special all over the place atm as they are changing their packaging. Bargains to be had!

Have good weekend y'all.

Pcf - Where are you moving to? x

2Happy · 21/03/2009 20:19

Home. Knackered. Boys in bed. I'll be following shortly... Thanks guys x

vinorouge · 21/03/2009 20:35

Glad you got home safely 2happy. Was lovely to meet you and your boys. I've put a pic of all the kids enjoying their pud on my profile.

Thanks for having us rgee and pippa!

Wilkie - hope j is on the mend. Just noticed your q about using an avent steriliser - a steriliser/s a steriliser whatever brand it is or bottles you use. It will just mean you won't be able to stand as many tt's upright as you might be able to for avent bottles. TBH the TT one doesn't let you stand many upright and I just chuck them in any old how.

Lizz - how long did dj last in the pics? What did you (try to) see?

I'm out all day tomorrow so hope everyone has a happy mothers day.

Reggiee · 21/03/2009 20:45

I'm knackered too and I've barely moved from the sofa all day!
Cheers for coming folks - had a great day.
Can't see the piccy Vino

Have a good mothers day tomorrow.

vinorouge · 22/03/2009 19:30

Pic there now.
