vg you had me rofl this morning. Cheered me up anyhow.

Re comforters. DD has one that she has had from birth. We also bought another off ebay,as they had been discontinued. Paid silly money for the replacement, but sort of worth it now nearly 2 years later I see she is very attached to it.

Ds still got his muslin, he puts a bit of it in his mouth, and looks very funny.
DD also started with Muslin, but when she started rolling over in cot I was worried she would wrap it round her neck, so that's when we swapped to a teddy.
Much cheaper easier to replace muslin imo.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 26/01/2009 16:23

My goodness, just been checking out the menu for tomorow. Looks very good, however as will be slinging, will have to have something which is easy to eat one handed.

AnnVan · 26/01/2009 16:29

albs I can't see it either

no1 I hadn't thought of that aspect of bringing the sling. hmmm... What to do? Now am reconsidering, do I Bring the pushchair?

pertelote · 26/01/2009 16:40

Ann and No1 I am bringing the pushchair I think and I bet others will too - and DD can now sit in a highchair (as I expect some of the other early Aug-ers can!) so if your slings don't free up your hands you can put your LO in my buggy - or on my knee - or on the floor (I'll bring a mat) for long enough to eat! Mummy's lunch is a priority, I always say... calories won't come out unless they go in!

sibh I got it too late for today but will post tomorrow, along with the book I promised Sazz weeks ago and STILL haven't posted

steak hungry caterpillar was DD1's absolute favourite we had to read it every single night and she still always looked enthralled bless her

how do you get the new emoticon? I don't have it on my list

I know we're all getting a bit 'meh' about MN right now and even I'm not straying too far from the safety of our board but I need to know if I'm just being a crab about something and know you lot will tell me

text talk like l8r instead of later etc etc
I loved MN for not being a site full of it - ok I'm the world's worst for spelling and some shortenings but I think I have become a snob

I see why it exists & use it when actually texting to save my having to send two texts instead of one (cheapskate that I am ) BUT is it just laziness on here or AM I being a complete snob?!?

god - I have to stop bothering you lot about these trivial matters

play date going ok, haven't seen them much tbh so thats fine with me

dizzydixies · 26/01/2009 16:54

sazz sorry to hear you're being driven round the bend - did it turn out you didn't need my cucumbers after all? I sat there for ages too

right have to go and attend to demanding children

alittlebitshy · 26/01/2009 16:57

i for one am taking pushcahir. Am also taking a sling just in case I have to something odd with the pushchair at liverpool street, but ds is too heavy for me to sling for a long time -esp as i don't do it v often anymore....

Still worried my ds will be the one who will whinge, won't be put down, howl etc etc while the others are angels.

alittlebitshy · 26/01/2009 16:59

dizzy - I am with you text spelling - hate hate hate it. I think it is most lazy. I try to use proper words when I text too. I was most when my dad, who being an ex English teacher should know better IMO, used it in his texts.
Mind you I am that he bought a mobile and can text.

Izzy - down for the night [fingers crossed emoticon]
Though I had the same discussion with DH as we do every time I instigate early bedtimes, which is most of the time now.
He says; "What time is it, I think it is to early"
I say; "yes but she hardly slept last night/today"
He says; "we'll do it your way but I still think its too early"

The next day he will then say; "you were right about the early night"

I kid you not, every time!

Maria2007 · 26/01/2009 17:21

Hi girls,

Just to say I'm a bit nervous/shy about tomorrow as I'm so new to the thread & I feel a bit lost here!! But looking forward to meeting you all, and all the babies as well... Giraffe has a nice menu, there's a Giraffe in my neighbourhood too (SE1) & we go there often. They have really nice burgers for anyone who loves those. And also really good smoothies. BTW I'll bring my buggy, just so that I can eat in peace (huh... DS will probably want to be held after a certain point...)- it'll be easier than my Ergo, I think.

Anyway. See you all tomorrow .

pertelote · 26/01/2009 17:22

ALBS I'll be very surprised if DD is angelic! But it doesn't matter, does it? Even if your DS is massively grumpy we are not going to go away thinking 'oh dear that ALBS is a terrible mother' but 'poor ALBS was having a tricky day, but how wonderful that she came out anyway and was so cheerful/friendly/gorgeous!'

maria (and others worried about tomorrow) dont be shy/nervous, most of us haven't met everyone..you'll be fine.

Maria2007 · 26/01/2009 17:27

Albs, my boy is almost all the time quite a bit grumpy (especially after a certain point)... so don't worry we're all in the same boat!

Sazzles, how sweet DD1 teaching Emma to eat....aaaawwwwwwwhhhh!! so cute.

Maria2007 · 26/01/2009 17:29

Miamla, thanks for the encouragement! I'm thinking, well it's a great opportunity to meet ladies with babies the same age as my boy... and you all seem very very nice on this thread (from the few days I'll be here) so it should be ok hopefully!

Exactly VG, very well put.

AnnVan · 26/01/2009 17:55

Aaaaah - that explains why I couldn't get on earlier. The smiley broke mn.

Got totally sick of the whinging, have put seb in his cot with his dummy in. All is now silent When I went to wake him up from his nap earlier, he was lying wide awake staring at my slipper, which is for some reason in his cot

Oh and Dizzy I'm totally with you on text speak. Grrrr. I don't even use it in texts. But why do it when typing on a keyboard. U ur l8r I hate them all.
