Morning all.

Especially LG&T and India.

I will be requiring lengthy cuddles.

I shall be singing Hush Little Baby for the duration.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Evening ladies

Had a fantastic few days away but am totally knackered. PJ was wonderful as usual. Was so lovely to meet Charley and the kiddies. George is very cute and is taller than Ella and Lexie. Was also lovely to see TYG again and see how grown up A looked as well as having a squidge with the very well behaved O.

Villa was fab and even had a pool table in the games room! Had a great time in the pool J&E spent the whole time going up and down the slides and were smiling the entire time.

Left at about 2pm as wanted to get home incase it decided to snow again. Fell through the door at 5.30ish and the dc's were so pleased to see Dh.

Dh has been a star this weekend and has done ALL the washing (incl. the bedding) 15 loads in total . House is sparkling - well was until the kids walked through the door.

Going to veg out on the sofa for a small time before heading to bed.

AbbyLou · 08/02/2009 20:34

Oh AM, you sound so relaxed. What a star your dh has been, very thoughtful of him to let you chill out on your return. I'm so sorry I couldn't get to CP, especially with it being literally just down the road. It was however, wonderful to see my dad looking so well. He is completely over his nasty bout of pneumonia and has his zest for life back. The kids had a great time racing around with their cousins. They have a lot more snow there so while dh and bil went to watch the footabll, me and my sis took it in turns to drag the kids about on the sledge. It was a lovely weekend.
Now though it's back to Earth with a bump and I'm planning again. We have one more week until half term and I want to try and get all of next half term's planning done now so I can enjoy my week off with the kids.
So, does anyone have any plans for Valentine's Day? We are away at a cottage with friends but the in-laws have offered to have the kids the following weekend so we can have a night to ourselves and a lie-in!

JamInMyWellies · 08/02/2009 20:41

MrsJB am watching something on sky and they are talking about a charity which helps families who have very ill children and want lovley kids wigs was thinking about your DN its called the Little Princess charity.

MmeJaffaB · 08/02/2009 21:39

Thanks Jam, will see if they have a website.
Dn was measured for a wig this week. she is starting to loose her hair.
The prognosis is not great, they await results of a test to see how far the cancer has spread.
Alot of prayers will be needed and answered for this one we fear.

AM, I'm glad you had a fab time, sounds lovely, C had nothing to stop his OCD kicking in this weekend with a quiet house then? What a good boy you have.

lg&t, were you born in St Marys? I should have had H there but got fed up with being OD and went on holiday, he was born in Birmingham instead, lol

Abby, pleased your Dad is looking better, I am not talking to A today so as yet the only plans for Valentines is to file for Divorce........ he is a wanker! Your weekend planned sounds lovely.

Phew!

Themasterandmargaritas · 09/02/2009 15:36

Thank heavens!! Great news though.

JamInMyWellies · 09/02/2009 15:37

Lovely news AM.

Themasterandmargaritas · 09/02/2009 16:29

Jam, if I don't get on later I just wanted to say good luck to J for tomorrow. I am keeping fingers and toes crossed.

TheGreatScootini · 09/02/2009 18:20

Good news AM..God old DH.Actually though he had just had a whole weekend 'off' from kids so you doubly deserve the house to be clean anyway. How I dream of a weekend off from the kids >>wistful emoticon

TheGreatScootini · 09/02/2009 18:23

I must say my spelling/typing is getting worse by the day.I am pretending it is by way of homage to long lost cod.So there.

TheGreatScootini · 09/02/2009 18:26

Washing your own smalls TMAM? You will be ousted from your social circle if anyone finds out.

twelveyeargap · 09/02/2009 19:28

No way! That WAS me!

You MUST pop in for tea. Really you must. It's silly that you pass my house all the time and we never see each other. I would be up for meeting in Harlow, Chelmsford or Cambridge. Also still up for a "sleepover". I could even host if you like. I'm sure DH wouldn't mind going out. Hehehe. Really sorry about your wallpaper. Do you have another bit to hang in place of the ripped part?

LG&T, let me know when you're up for a visit. I can do Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays or I could even come on a weekend day and then leave A or even both kids with DH.

CP was great. It was fab to see AM again and her tiny bump and lovely to meet PJ. NOBODY'S children are as bad as they make out. I thought J & E were great and was impressed by how nicely they play together and how J was looking out for E in the pool and L went to bed really nicely at 9 and was asleep in 15 minutes. More to the point, L slept through whereas my two woke the Family Meadow at 5 on Sunday morning. They annoyed/ grumbled each other awake as the travel cots were next to each other and then started crying. I put them in separate rooms after AM left, which meant at least they didn't wake each other, but O started teething again with gusto, is apparently having a growth spurt and had had to be fed at 10 and again at 3 and again at 6. I waited a few mins after the 3am feed to change his nappy to make sure no poo was forthcoming, changed him, put him down, went back to bed whereupon he started screaming because he'd managed to poo up his chest fgs. Major clean up operation progressed. Had to go and find blankets because even the Grobag was destroyed. Took him an hour to get back to sleep. A kept kicking off her covers and crying because she was cold. (When do children learn to pull their own covers up anyway?) Then O was crying in his sleep from 5 with teething I think, A moaned and groaned until I gave her milk at 6 and I wondered how L was supposed to be the one with the sleep "issues" and my children were apparently "good sleepers".

So on top of the vom-fest on the way up, which required a 45 minute stop at a services to wash the car seat down (bearing in mind I had to get O in his car seat and A and her car seat and a bag of nappies/ clothes etc in from the car to the toilets with A covered in sick) you can see that AM and PJ must be really lovely to have made the trip worth the hassle.

You can imagine my response when on arrival at CP I was asked if I could "manage my stuff from the car park to the villa".

largeginandtonic · 09/02/2009 20:20

TYG you need medals and certificates and GOLD STARS for coping with that journey. I am super of the CP trip.

I am on the G&T, tis quite stressful in the house atm. We are having major issues with the twins Dad, they are going to have to have some counselling Iam also going to be back in the Family Court system again.

B has been dreadful, he is screaming and tatruming, throwing things. I put himto bed this evening midst tantrum as dh was rocking I who had been screaming for an hour and ahalf and he GOT OUT THE FECKING COT. The twins did it too at this age. I am doooooomed. It was one of those cry, laugh, cry laugh moments.

It is all wayyyyy too much atm.

Jam my lovely am thinking of you and dh. I have everything crossed for you.

Scoot noooooooo at the wall paper! I have nothing nice and despair of it too.

Tis export strength, think the girl will forgive me?

AprilMeadow · 09/02/2009 20:43

TYG has arms of steel! PJ and i were very impressed as she carried A into the villa whilst in her bulky car seat! They are heavy enough on their own never minder a toddler in it.
How was your journey back? You must have left pretty early.

LG&T am so sorry that you are having a time of it with xp. Not what you need at all. Am sad for the twins but am sure they are strong enough to help each other through it. at B getting out of his cot. I think J was doing that shortly after turning 2 so quickly turned his cot into a bed.

JAM i hope you get a positive outcome tomorrow x

TMAM at you having to do hand washing! You mustn't let it get out or you will be shunned

MKG · 09/02/2009 21:25

Great news AM!!

I have nothing new except that my vagina hurts. Oh well, midwife appointment tomorrow. Strep B test, ahh there's nothing like a vaginal and rectal swab to get you going in the morning.

MKG · 09/02/2009 21:26

LG&T--get some mosquito net and lock that boy in his crib! I'm sure you have handcuffs somewhere too.

twelveyeargap · 09/02/2009 22:25

A tip that the lovely Mars gave me. Her twins used to climb out of the cot and she said that a travel cot foxed them for a while. Much more difficult to get purchase on the soft sides.

I am really, really feeling for you, LG&T. I know the stage you're at with I. Just remember that in a few weeks she will be more settled and go to bed earlier and not spend her evenings screaming. Poor, poor you. It's horrendous, this bit. A is responding quite well to "helping" when she's about to throw a fit about something. Asking her to help me sometimes, though not always diverts her and obviously I don't always have the patience. I very often just shout at her and bring the tantrum on even quicker.

twelveyeargap · 09/02/2009 22:32

Left at about 9.30, April. Would have been home a lot earlier, but with the freezing fog, sleet, diversion to avoid a traffic incident on the A1 and getting caught up in a worse one and then the torrential rain and spray causing everyone to drive at 50mph on the M11, I was foiled. The children were angelic though. They both slept most of the way! (They'd have wanted to after being up since 5.)

When A woke up we sang songs for the last half an hour and she charmed me by singing little snippets of the Wheels on the Bus. I was singing it and after I stopped, I could hear her talking in a sing-song voice and realised she was doing the babies' on the bus "Waa, waa, waa" and then going "All day long." Then she reminded me we hadn't done the horn on the bus by going "Beep beep" until I sang that verse. So cute. She hasn't really sang songs before.

JamInMyWellies · 10/02/2009 09:55

Devastated J has been made redundant, no idea what we will do. JUst waiting for him to come home.

AprilMeadow · 10/02/2009 09:56

Oh shite JAM, am SO very sorry x

Themasterandmargaritas · 10/02/2009 10:36

Oh bollocks, we were all so hoping you would hear otherwise. I'm so sorry. I know it sounds trite just now but try to keep your morale up, look to the few positives.

ShowOfHands · 10/02/2009 10:36

Oh God Jam. I've only nipped on to see if you've posted today. Woke up and you were my first thought.

What now? Is he on garden leave? Do you want/need anything? DH off work today so just yell if you need a cuddle and some tea from a sympathetic ear.

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 10/02/2009 10:42

Oh Jam, please let me know if I can help in any way. It's just awful, all I've done is calculate redundancy figures since I arrived this morning.

If I can offer any advice, give me a call or email me at [email protected]
