Morning all.

Especially LG&T and India.

I will be requiring lengthy cuddles.

I shall be singing Hush Little Baby for the duration.

sobriquet · 22/01/2009 16:37

In Ireland, a Briquet is one of these Perfect!

NimChimpsky · 22/01/2009 17:09

Early variants are sotbriquet and soubriquet, which may suit you better abbreviations wise. The uneducated and unwashed might think you can't spell though.

Themasterandmargaritas · 22/01/2009 18:11

Dh is currently watching rock climbing. In Portuguese. I beg of you. Are all men weird?

Sotbriquet has a lovely ring to it.

NimChimpsky · 22/01/2009 18:23

DH is picking up weights and putting them down again. Repeatedly. Neither rhyme nor reason for such oddities.

OP posts:
Themasterandmargaritas · 22/01/2009 18:27

Rather his weights than his truncheon.

MmeJaffaB · 22/01/2009 19:51

Just had some awful news...

Our Niece (dh's) has just been diagnosed with cancer......

She's 7

It's stage 4

Chemo starts tomorow.

We are devastated, just can't imagine what dh's brother and GF are going through.

AM, I'm gutted to see that some people have nothing better to do with their lives than to upset and get involved in others business.
Kirsten you sad cow, get stuffed and crawl back to someone who might care.

MmeJaffaB · 22/01/2009 20:01

Sorry, to the unknown Kirsten, missed AM's other post.

Am not really thinking straight tbh.

NimChimpsky · 22/01/2009 20:03

Oh no Mme. How terrible. Do you know what sort it is? I cannot begin to imagine what they and you must be going through. Do you see them often enough for your dc to need to know what's happening right now?

Oh God that's just terrible news.

OP posts:
MmeJaffaB · 22/01/2009 20:10

Haven't had conformation as to what type yet, other than, they think it's spread to her bones and she has today had a blood transfusion and a line put in ready for treatment tomorow.

A little confused as to how they know it's stage 4 without knowing the exacts yet, but we are not amazingly close and have only heard through SIL and FIL.
My dc's don't need to know yet.

NimChimpsky · 22/01/2009 20:27

Stage 4 means that they know it has spread from the original site but implications of this are different depending upon exactly what is happening and where in her little body.

I just can't imagine. I'll think about them this evening. And you of course.

(((((MmeJB))))

MrsJB so sorry what awful news.

Tillyscoutsmum · 22/01/2009 22:01

Mrs JB. I have no words

AbbyLou · 22/01/2009 22:06

Goodness I've missed a lot again.
MrsJB I'm so sorry about your niece, what awful news. I too can't imagine what her poor parents must be going through.
AM sorry you're having a hard time with stuff. Keep your chin up and rise above them, you are the better person.
PJ, saw your fb, can't believe you're going again! You are a true, true fan.
CM, thanks for remembering me, as always!
Not much happening here, glad it's nearly Friday.

elkiedee · 22/01/2009 22:38

Thanks TYG, no, I'm booked in at the Whittington again. It's slightly further away but much easier to get to from here. The North Middlesex involves 2 buses and a real concrete jungle to navigate - as I was there for 72 hours including induction, labour and postnatal with D and then 8 days on readmission, and we rely on public transport most of the time, a hospital near the tube, one direct and frequent bus route from home, a reasonable canteen and shop and a local shopping area (Archway is down at heel but practically useful) wins hands down, in case there are problems. And they also do midwife appointments at the health centre less than 5 minutes walk from my house and the Children's Centre 10 mins away. I've seen the woman who delivered D at every appointment this time round.

Mrs JB, really sorry about your dh's niece. Hope the chemo goes ok and isn't too gruesome an experience for her.

twelveyeargap · 23/01/2009 00:28

MrsJB, I'm so sorry about your niece. Stage 4 is very advanced and it's just awful that they didn't know before now. Terribly sad.

Elkie, I found the consultants at the Whit quite happy to let me go more than 2 weeks over, once they'd seen my notes. Also, Alison, the NCT bf councellor does a lot of work at the Whit so please, please bring her number with you. Her number is in Gas & Air, but email me on twelveyeargap at yahoo dot co dot uk if you can't fond it. If you have any bf problems, remember she is trained to help you bf, but the midwives might not be. There is a very very militant woman from the Assoc BF Mothers at the Whit whom you might like to avoid, I hear, however! Some proper help with the bf should avoid a readmission.

SKYTVADDICT · 23/01/2009 08:39

Morning all

MrsJB so sorry to hear about your neice.

Glad to hear you are not giving up AM.

Today I am going to start and try and fill in a job application form. I did try yesterday but Callum, Lewis and the PC conspired against me. I haven't had to apply for a job for 20 years, dont' have my cv to work from (can't find one!) and with my baby fuzz brain still on I can hardly remember what qualifications I have or what I did at college. I do know I have the qualifications for the job though so will have to try and be resourceful! Wish me luck!

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 23/01/2009 09:40

So sorry about your niece Mrs JB.

Sky - good luck with your job application! Let me know if you need any help.

TYG - do you drink?

Oh MrsJB, I feel utterly devastated for you and their family. What a terrible shock and to happen to such a tiny person too. I am with Wats, stay positive and concentrate on the present. We are all with you.

Sky,I too am about to apply for a job. Do you think anyone will have us old farts? Pink, I hadn't thought about sending you my CV to look at, but would you, if I send you the job spec too?

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 23/01/2009 10:48

Of course, email me at [email protected]

Themasterandmargaritas · 23/01/2009 11:01

Thanks chick, will brush it up first and send it over in a wee while, if I can get off bloddy MN that is.

SKYTVADDICT · 23/01/2009 11:18

Aargh. I havn't even picked the stuff up yet! L being clingy.

I need to email the application form and attach 2 signed declarations. How do people do it that havn't got scanners etc!! Also I think all the bumf you have to read is to put time wasters off but there is just so much! Its an admim post for a children's charity. What is yours TMAM? As for old farts I am hoping that they realise I am past child bearing age so very employable (unless there are any more surprises of course )

NimChimpsky · 23/01/2009 11:20

M has a little book of Buddhism that she carries everywhere with her. She picked it off the shelf in the study and won't let it go. I'm wondering if by the process of osmosis she is learning something from it.

MrsJB, thinking of you today.

Good luck Sky and TMAM. I've never had a CV. Shall I write one for you to critique PJ?

Here y'are...

OP posts:
SKYTVADDICT · 23/01/2009 11:24

Think I will be adding multitasking to my skills. Currently typing 1 handed whilst b/f. A recently added skill even though he is DC4! Needs must as I would get no pc time otherwise!!

SKYTVADDICT · 23/01/2009 11:26

Oh and an authority on In the Night Garden, mumsnet and facebook and need to go to work for a rest so it had better not be a busy job
