Hi - welcome to the new thread!

Dh is finally home all the main roads and motoway are clear of snow now, he got overtime out off it so not all bad.

I hope we all still get to meet up tomorrow

CarrieBo · 02/02/2009 14:45

My trustees meeting hasn't been cancelled, we only have a few inches of snow and the main roads are clear. The 80 year old with the hip replacement is going so I feel I ought to! Oh well, dh will love building a snowman with dd as he's coming home early to have the kids while I go to the meeting at 4:30.

izzybiz · 02/02/2009 14:51

Hi guys, I know I am hardly ever on here now, (too much FB)
Just wanted to say have a good time at the meet up tommorrow, if you can all get there that is!
I won't be able to make it and I would have loved to have met some of you and your gorgeous babies!
Oh well, another time maybe?
xx

foxy
(i think you're right).

i have the absolute worse lower back pain ever. if i didn't know any better i'd swear i was on the verge of dying. i wonder what i could have done to it.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/02/2009 15:44

Hopefully - If you hadn't had T weighed, would you be worrying about him? He has put on weight, just not as much as the 'average' baby has. You don't want him to be average now do you?!

Seriously, weight gain is only one of a list of indicators that T is thriving.

Add more breastfeeds during the day. And as you know early weaning will not help. Fruit and veg purees don't contain many calories, so T may fill up on f&v and gain even less weight.

I know it's hard, but trust your instincts on this, not a chart.

MelT76 · 02/02/2009 15:59

have just been to the dentist and need 2 fillings. Oh well, the Mars bar I just ate made me feel better, even if it's didn't help my teeth!

plusonemore · 02/02/2009 16:08

have just ordered the obaby highchair! Hee hee am very excited maybe i need to find other things to occupy my time...

plusonemore · 02/02/2009 16:12

hee hee look at the price of these weaning bowls think they may have made a mistake??!!

jenpet · 02/02/2009 16:22

lol plusone we'll take a couple!
Re sterilising, S won't take a bottle under any circumstances, but the bits of spoons etc we use I just put through the dishwasher - which goes on at 70 degrees anyway - surely that's enough?? I did have a microwave steriliser for DS1 - now we read that plastic in the microwave releases carcinogenic compounds to leak into the food...so maybe not a good idea. Also, I remember catching DS1 licking the soil off a potato in the vegetable rack when he was about ten months old. We phased out the sterilising after that....

Thanks for all your replies about hotel rooms and leaving DS to sleep. I'm hoping the room is close enough to the dining room so we can leave him and bring the monitor. If not then we'll try the buggy or carseat. The owners of the hotel also have a couple of daughters who often babysit for guests.

It's 4 months away and lots can change between now and then - but pleased to know that we're not the world's worst parents if we do leave him to sleep for an hour or so.

hopefully perhaps after being top of the chart to start off with, T has decided to kick back and slow down for a while. Am weighing A this Thursday, so will see if he's slowed down too (definitely not feeding for as long as he used to).

This snow is amazing! Haven't been out all day as I'm trying to get on top of A's cold (still snotty after 2 weeks).

digitalgirl · 02/02/2009 16:45

starlight those highchairs are hilarious!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 02/02/2009 17:15

Thought of the day:

'Don't eat yellow snow!'

lollyheart · 02/02/2009 17:25

Lmao at the hight chairs.

I bet you have one really star

SnowlightMcKenzie · 02/02/2009 17:33

I'm the Lone Star!!!!!!!

lollyheart · 02/02/2009 17:41

That is the ugliest thing i have ever seen

CarrieBo · 02/02/2009 20:02

I love the giraffe highchair! ALthough it would have to be plastic and more brightly coloured to really please me

I've decided (and if I've said it here then I have to go through with it) that if we're snowed in tomorrow then we'll start project 'big girl pants'. I was going to do it over half term, but if we're housebound now, then why not?!

Dh has just gone out to football. Nutter. A wonderful nutter, but really...

plusonemore · 02/02/2009 20:11

giraffe highchair v funny. ad told DH was buying new highchair, hadnt shown him picture of it. He happened to look at laptop just as i was looking at giraffe one and thought that was the one i had bought!!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 02/02/2009 20:26

wot? for $495?

LOL

Jenbot · 02/02/2009 20:29

starlight I think I will come along actually, can I just turn up? Would it be a problem if my sister tagged along?

That giraffe highchair is revolting.

I've just had my hair cut at the weekend.
DH: Your hair looks different today.
Me: Yes, they straightened it at the hairdressers, I just let it dry.
DH thinks, looking worried, then: Well... Are you going to buy some straighteners?
Me: Why? Is it that bad?!
DH: Well, you know, it's just, we do have people coming over.

Hmm.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 02/02/2009 20:36

I don't think so, since plenty of toddlers and babies have tagged along and I'm guessing your sister is less disruptive.

I expect Bethany will tell you if there is a problem, but she's very nice.

Don't worry about your DH. Men take a while to adjust to change.

ninja · 02/02/2009 20:43

just putting on my threads again, back later!

DebiTheScot · 02/02/2009 20:59

don't know if that posted so will try again. sorry if this is the 2nd time I've posted

meglet lollyheart and hopefully I've just sent you a facebook message about tomorrow. I was wondering if we should postpone until next week as I'm not that comfortable about driving in the snow (I know the main roads should be ok but even just getting out of my road is treacherous as its still completely snow covered) and even if we don't get anymore tonight what we have now isn't going to melt by tomorrow. And is freezing at the moment so will get quite icy. Thought about getting the train but don't think they're running properly either. You 3 can still meet up if you want obviously though.
