imoscarsmum
were you confusing pictures of me with pictures of my skinny little sister holding Noah?

lollipopmother · 31/01/2009 08:51

No she wasn't, I think that you look stunning in your pictures too, very envious.

plusonemore · 31/01/2009 15:59

goodness me its quiet here today, dont tell me all actually have better things to do!

just checking in with my mentor carrie and pacita- howsit going? Much better day here yesterday, i stuck to all the times, put him in his cot for morning nap (slept 10mins, cried 20) and lunch (slept 40 mins cried 20). He slept better last night, asleep 7.30, fed at 4.30 then back to sleep til 8!!! Today there was no way he was going to sleep in his cot this morning, it was a different kind of cry and i couldnt leave him for very ong at all. Tried singing and rocking but no good either. He had a good sleep at lunch when we were out for a walk. T hink I am going to try not bothering with a morning nap, he never seems very tired and only naps then if in the car or pushchair. maybe then he'll get a better lunchtime sleep.

Am also wondering if I need to do anything about his constant sikyness? He is sick after almost every feed, sometimes lots, sometimes a little. Any ideas? Cant help thinking if he kept it all down he wouldnt need to wake in the night!!

plusonemore · 31/01/2009 16:03

oh, and look at this gorgeous t shirt i've just ordered for ds1 3rd birthday!

Hopefully · 31/01/2009 16:17

OMG I abandon you all for 5 minutes, the site changes and you all post loads!

Went for lunch at claridges yesterday for a special special special treat, was absolutely brilliant!

Off to catch up in between filing tax return (last minute? never!)

hopefully - I'm with starlight on your 'living on the edge' attempt at making us think you are really doing this at the last minute. Hilarious! Go wild!

notcitrus · 31/01/2009 17:15

Ug. Have ear infection, since Tuesday. So just as the leaky breasts get a bit better, I get woken up with a soggy ear. And yesterday had diarrhoea all afternoon. Not fun. Especially with baby to entertain. Actually it's my least favourite bit of parenthood - you can't take days off sick.

Luckily doc hasn't got my records yet, as that always scares them, so suggested I have a scrip for antibiotics and only take them if I get worse or feverish. I got the pills today... now to decide whether to take them and risk more thrush, or not... ...

Just hope A doesn't get it.

eandz · 31/01/2009 17:17

ahhhhhh!

so Noah is now letting us sit him down and between feeds has let us let him lay down. dare i say things are getting better?

Hopefully · 31/01/2009 17:25

I had everything ready in one place in my box file, and just had to sit down and do it. Got a bit of a fright when I saw a number at the end and thought I owed something (have no self employed earnings from last year), and then I realised they owe me money! I got taxed at higher rate when I got a bonus last year, and I deserve some back and completely forgot about it. It's a fairly pitiful sum, but there's something hugely satisfyingly wonderful about getting money back from the tax man.

I'm now off to nose at you all on facebook and update my account. I can't believe it has taken a bunch of women I have (mostly) never met to make me give in and go on there again!

Ponymum · 31/01/2009 17:48

hopefully can you do mine for me?

DH went away this morning for a work trip and won't be back until next Wednesday. So I guess I'll have 5 days of seeing what being a single parent is like. I suspect that at the end of this I'll be even more full of admiration for single parents than I am already... Any advice or tips gratefully received.

So far I have messed up the one thing I had to do today: collect the pre-ordered newspaper from the local village shop. Sounds simple but I didn't manage to get it together to get me and DD out of the house until 2:30 pm, and didn't know that the shop closes at 2 pm on Saturdays. Hmmph. Grumpy now. No magazine, no sudoku... and totally embarrassed that clearly DH usually does everything for me. How hopeless / spoiled amd I?

Sassyfrassy · 31/01/2009 18:49

Hi everyone, We're now on Katie's third lot of antibiotics for the infected exzema on her ear. Fingers crossed this sort will do the trick. Also now quite behind with her immunisations as I don't want them done while she's on antibiotics. Tried dairy free diet to see if that would help but it just got worse.

Otherwise I've had a good couple of days, it was dd1's fourth birthday last thursday and she was incredibly excited.

CarrieBo · 31/01/2009 19:25

Evening all. Ds came with me to a 5 hour trustees strategy meeting today for a charity I volunteer with. He was a complete superstar, and the programme for the day completely fitted in with his routine, although I did feed him early during one of the sessions, not sure what the other 9 people thought but no one commented! He took a while to fall asleep in his car seat in the corner of the room, but I gave him a muslin to shove in his mouth and chucked my coat over for instant blackout/parrot in a cage. Quite remarkably he wasn't sicky all morning, and played beautifully on his mat for quite a while before having cuddles with other trustees while I took minutes. Everyone was very complementary about what a beautiful son I have
All in all a good day, and dh is out babysitting tonight so I've got a friend and a bottle of wine coming over! Was going to have a curry but I had one yesterday, and fish n chips for lunch today

CarrieBo · 31/01/2009 19:26

And I'm feeling very smug with myself for getting the best mobile phone deal ever

DebiTheScot · 31/01/2009 20:03

well done baby carriebo. I'm impressed that your dh babysits too. I got a new mobile the other week, probably not the best deal ever but quite good (better than the one I was on anyway) but best of all was that I got to have the LG Viewty touchscreen phone which is amazing.

we went to Birdworld today, it was fecking freezing (was just about literally freezing my tits off) but we had a good day out and both dss behaved.

DebiTheScot · 31/01/2009 20:10

I don't like the new mumsnet setting. Does it do this for anyone else on this setting?: when you click on threads I'm on and then click on the name by the last post it doesn't take to you that post ie the end of the thread. It takes you to a log in page. On the old setting clicking on the name took you to the post made by that person.

DebiTheScot · 31/01/2009 20:13

and it says I made my last post on 31st Oct 09!

DebiTheScot · 31/01/2009 20:22

just looked on the thread about issues with new mn and they are both things that are being looked into soon.

eandz · 31/01/2009 20:28

i don't like this new mn business either.

so my period is here, but for some reason my milk has come back today too.

does this mean i can start breast feeding again? or is it just a fluke?

DebiTheScot · 31/01/2009 20:37

don't know about that one eandz, sounds a bit odd!
Good news that Noah is allowing you to lie him down a bit now, lets hope the progress continues.

lollyheart · 31/01/2009 21:06

I know how you feel DebiTheScot we went to Alice Holt woodlands today, i thought my milk was going to freeze up.

I saw a really horrible thing today, it was a car accident,Thankfully i never saw it happen but what i did see was not pretty

Fraser was up most of last night again, i dont know what to do im so tired, i think i got 3 hours broken sleep last night, i had some friends over for pizza and a few drinks, i went to bed at 1am ,fraser was awake on and off from then.

He goes to bed fine at 7.30 but after 6 or 7 hors he wont sleep again.

Hopefully · 31/01/2009 21:13

Lolly do you wake him for a feed at 10:30? wonder if it might interrupt the solid sleep and get you some later in the night?

We've been up and down and up and down for the past 2 nights as T never sleeps at all well in his travel cot (v thin mattress, resting on the floor). We've had to make his Stokke cot the next size up today as he's only got about an inch above and below his head in the smaller size!

CarrieBo · 31/01/2009 21:28

hopefully I always put a couple of folded blankets on the travel cot mattress then the sheet over the top - the 'mattress' is very unforgiving isn't it? You can buy mattresses for them I think from mothercare.

debi dh is babysitting for the couple who gave us our cotbed, scooter, trike, art table and chairs, toy kitchen, megablocks...they're just handing down all their baby stuff to us, so for Christmas we gave them 'a night out on us' which includes babysitting!

Not impressed with the eurovision result - the twins were surely the very essence of the competition. Bah. Not that I voted of course!
