My friend has announced she is expecting her second baby due in Sept 09, and I am teency bit thinking that was me last year, however the thought of another baby KG just yet makes me shudder - maybe next year if I am feeling brave .

Is there a FB group???? I am turning into a FB addict

Have a good day all!

ooh, snazzy new look to MN!

pacita Glad you had a better night, hopefully you can shake off the shingles (especially if your indulging in cream teas!)

starlight Wow, that's a whole load of changes. I had done the whole marriage and house thing a few years before, but I'd been on a bit of a bender for 12 months prior to ttc and then once I did get pg I started a new job. So lots of changes where happening in my life at the same time. Didn't learn to sail or anything as exciting as that. I did learn how to enjoy life without booze and other naughty things! And I definitely don't think living in the present makes you a bad parent - I too often live in the future (constantly thinking about when A is older, we have two, when we might have a bigger house, when DH might be earning more money so I could take a longer stint for my next maternity leave) which makes me think I'm a bad parent for not enjoying and appreciating what I've got right now in front of me.

re: routines. We don't have a fixed daily one as our activities change. A tends to wake up at 7am (or I tend to leave him grizzling till 7am). Then if I'm on my own he naps from 9-10, if my mum is around he naps from 8:30-9. Then he'll last for two hours before needing another nap. Which may be anything from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours. If he has a short nap I try and get him to sleep again earlier than 2 hours. And regardless of how many naps he's had or what time he's had them he gets grizzly between 5 and 6 and has to have a bath between 6 and 6:30. After which I feed him to sleep and can be downstairs having supper with DH between 7 and 7:30pm.

Tonight DH and I are going to an exhibition which means leaving A at home with my mum to do bath and bedtime. He'll be having EBM from last November - and it will be the first time anyone other than me has put him to bed after his bath. Am nervous, but only about the fact that he might be so unsettled that he has a bad night's sleep.

digitalgirl · 30/01/2009 11:15

oh and wrt feeding in our 'routine' I try and feed him after a nap. But pretty much try and feed him whenever I have a moment to sit down in the day. Usually works out around every 2-3 hours. Don't think I've gone 4 hours in the daytime yet. Still have this notion that if I feed him more in the day he'll feed less at night. But his daytime feeds are getting shorter and shorter (sometimes it's only 5 mins). Not going to stress about feeding times until we're weaning, so I can try and time BF to work with mealtimes.

Oh you guys... Don't. Make. Me. Join. Face. Book. !!! I have withstood the pressure thus far. Am I the only one who thinks FB is evil? (You can call me 'Refusestogetdownoffherhighhorsemum' if you wish. )

So curious though...

plusonemore · 30/01/2009 12:06

ponymum keep resisting, once you start... It's basically just a way of being nosey, Useful if like me you live away from family, you can share photos and keep in touch easily.

Kagey · 30/01/2009 13:51

Thanks Sunflower, I've requested to join!!! Not sure who the admin is but my Mumsnet name is basically my initials - KG.

Pony I resisted from FB for a while but now have to check in every couple of days. I find it handy sharing photos for friends and family who do not see E often, especially those overseas. It is evil I agree .

E is now weighing a whopping 14lb 2oz which is still less than I need to lose - however holding her everytime I crave naughty snacks is quite handy as it motivates me

Have a good weekend!!

DebiTheScot · 30/01/2009 14:26

Not sure about the new look yet. I don't like the silly advert box at the top of every page of the thread but I like the shortcut bit at the bottom. But my bf who I'm talking to on msn says she doesn't have the advert at the top.

DebiTheScot · 30/01/2009 14:49

mmm the silly advert box has gone!

CarrieBo · 30/01/2009 15:11

Ooooh new look MN!
pacita I do wake ds for his dreamfeed, after spending a few minutes welling up as I watch him sleep and marvel at how beautiful he is He can latch on his sleep, but usually is roused by me getting him out of his grobag. Dh gets ready for bed while I feed ds, then changes ds's nappy while I get ready for bed, then I offer ds a bit more milk and then we all go to bed!
I'm on the fence a bit about facebook. I love being nosey and sharing photos, but yesterday removed all the applications I've installed over time (scrabble, starbucks, christmas cards ) coz all that is a bit of a waste of time IMHO and I discovered that the people who wrote the applications have access to your profile if you install it.
Last night dh went out to a meeting at 7, and when he got home at 9:45 I was still sat at the computer where he'd left me hence my very sudden exit from our converstations!!

CarrieBo · 30/01/2009 15:14

I've accepted the fb requests! I might go through and do a bit of a check, there are far more people on the fb group than post on here so if you don't write you MN name on the wall I might send you a message to check who you are!!

MelT76 · 30/01/2009 15:57

Well I'm off to FB to add you all as friends and have a nosey.

Imoscarmum DD cried every water babies session until 3 weeks ago, now she doesn't at all, except for screaming the place down whilst changing this week, omg she was a nightmare, I still don't feel I have full hearing back!! I take her on my own at least once a week too and take it much slower and she's never cried there.

EandZ I've been v.lazy organising a date, i'll sort it out now.

imoscarsmum · 30/01/2009 16:54

Thanks for saying that lollipopmother today was just horrendous. C cried whilst i got her changed to go in, then about 20mins in tried to fall asleep in the water! Cue meltdown in pool. Lovely instructor said she might be tired but not to worry, she'll get there (she's youngest in class).
However, today was the day wonderful DP has a convention to go to tonight, so he came with us to pool and so was there to help! . I gave him her, and all her stuff and said "you get her dressed" (he was fully clothed with blue plastic thingies over shoes). Such a relief to just have me to get dressed. the look on people's faces though as I left changing rooms with empty car seat....I could tell they were dying to ask where the baby was....

On subject of routines and naps, not sure if it helps but mine is similar(ish) to carrie's:

C wakes around 7 or 8 and has bottle. Nap around 9am for about 35 mins (today she woke at 6am as she turned herself over in cot, she fed, went back to sleep until 8.30am and still needed nap at 9!!). We generally feed again at 10/10.30 and then go out so she sleeps in car or in pram. if at home, she may grab another 30min nap but not in cot. Feeds again around 1.30.
Then she will have her mega nap (about 2 hours) from 3 till 5pm. Feeds and then has really good awake time. Bath at 6.30, last bottle and in bed around 7.15. Generally sleeps till 7ish. We used to dreamfeed at 10pm but didn;t one night and she never woke up till morning.

All the above routine C has instigated. I have never pushed her to do anything but followed her lead. Now I know she prefers a long late nap, i will help her to settle herself if she needs it, but only cos I now know what she wants IYSWIM.

And loving the piccies on fb - aren't they all gorgeous! Ta for lovely messages about C and yes, there are a few photos of her on top of the cooker - it does have a solid glass cover though!!

Pacita poor you with the shingles, how long does it tend to last do you know?

Had a v tiring week, my mum was visiting but everyone caught a bug so the whole house was asleep by 8pm for a few days, and instead of me catching up on jobs while she was here everything just got more messy. Ho hum!

I must go look at everyone on facebook anyway... brb!

I've just been on another thread (sorry) and discovered that if you click 'customise' and then scroll down and choose 'mumsnet new' then everything is much much easier to read on the screen!!
