Am I first? Couldn't think of what to call it....

VS - I think she is hungrier, yes, I tried giving more milk, which helped, but then yesterday she spurned more milk for more food (I guess she can't take both) and she did sleep better last night. Woke once at 5.30 for drink water and then 6.30 properly. She is never hungry for her breakfast til about 8 though - does anyone else have this? Should I stop giving a ten o clock feed?

oh good. When I first started I did feel a bit weird, especially as the last time I said a straight 'no' in that firm, no-nonsense sort of tone was when we had dogs and needed to train them. The phrase 'boys are like puppies' keeps going through my mind.
He was very like a puppy this morning though, was crawl-chasing a mini-football around the dining room, very funny and sooo cute

MadameOvary · 11/01/2009 14:10

LadyBee
Am reminded of that Mnetter "BoysAreLikeDogs" so you could have something there!

scorpio1 · 11/01/2009 16:27

All children are like dogs feed and exercise and love

bumpkin32 · 11/01/2009 18:28

Hi, can I join you? I had my little girl on 26 April and need some advice please?
Am just trying to sort out some childcare so booked LO into a Nursery, just one day a week to start. Went last week for first time and she's had upset tummy since, same as LadyBee - do you reckon it could be something caught at Nursery? Am now worried about continuing with the Nursery idea as she's never been sick til now?
Have also been using 'No' for a while now and she seems to understand it.

chipmonkey · 11/01/2009 19:17

Welcome, Bumpkin! They definitely pick up bugs in nursery but IMO it's probably no worse than being in a large family!

SalLikesCoffee · 11/01/2009 19:19

Hi and welcome, bumpkin! I might not be the right person to ask right now, as I'm rather fed up of nursery bugs myself after the last month! I guess they have to build up immunity at some stage though. I'm taking my ds out of nursery now until he's a bit older. Am still considering what to do when he's one - either back to nursery or - I don't know what then. Not entirely convinced that they won't pick bugs up at childminder as well, and even if not, it might just delay it all and they'll be ill for the first couple of months of school? Guess we can't shelter them forever. Still sucks though.

chipmonkey · 11/01/2009 19:20

bumpkin, have added you to the list but need your dd's weight and gestationn please.

scorpio1 · 11/01/2009 19:30

Hi bumpkin - i'm with chipmonkey on the large families thing (i only have 3 though ) Mimi goes to nursery a day a week too, at the moment, but touch wood, has been fine.

Do all these babies not have seperate rooms from bigger ones? What about the nurseries sickness policies, worth a look/ask? I bet the other babies get things from siblings and bring them in iyswim.

EllieG · 11/01/2009 19:43

Hey bumpkin - nice to have you here

Can't help much with nursery as DD not there yet, but we go to loads of parent and baby groups, and she catches every bug going there, so I think there is no avoiding it. Hopefully it builds up their immune systems anyway (this is what I keep telling myself...)

scorpio1 · 11/01/2009 19:47

It probably does Ellie...DH is making me poached egg & a coffee - gues he's not all bad!

This fight in Feb appears to be a 2 night stay over....

EllieG · 11/01/2009 19:51

Where is it? Not same place as the time of troubled-ness?
Mind you, it sounds as if he's really learned his lesson on that score, and you guys have worked hard at sorting things out and seem like you are pretty chilled and happy now.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 11/01/2009 19:54

No, NOT same place, no, never ever there again, no no no. lol

This is Cambridge. And i think you're right just a little nervous

EllieG · 11/01/2009 20:01

No one can get into any trouble in Cambridge, is just full of bookshops and churches and stuff
Can understand you being nervous, but he had a MASSIVE reality check by the sounds of it when he thought he might lose you and he knows not to bugger it all up. And he made you a poached egg so it must be love

DH is playing his playstation again. I am going to go and make him make me a cup of tea and then watch the West Wing box set. I am a little bit in love with one of the characters but so far DH hasn't caught on. I don't think the character is in love with me, but you never know.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 11/01/2009 20:02

Oh im sure he hearts you too Elli, lol. My DH is obsessed with his ps as well, Mortal Kombat thing online or something!

Have a nice night

Clarissimo · 11/01/2009 20:05

Mine never get ill

no roper bugs ever

it's coz my house is a state and there are no more bugs left to expose them to

actually i've been told its common in asd kids to rarely get ill, but ds2 / bas dont seem to either.

EllieG · 11/01/2009 20:10

I am going to make Molly play in some dirt to build her up.
Right. Kettle is on, am off.
See you all tomorrow

OP posts:
LadyBee · 11/01/2009 22:37

That's definitely it, B was fine until he went to my childminder's pristine house . No actually he went through a phase of getting every cold going before he was 6 months, then has been really healthy last couple of months. I'm surprised he hadn't had a stomach-y thing before now TBH.
I think he probably got it from someone at the playgroup he went to with the childminder, but I was expecting him to pick up lots when he first started going. The only problem is my childminder has a 48 hr clear policy, so it means I can't take him there tomorrow. So will have to take a day's holiday - fortunately I took some over from maternity leave but don't have that much to spare so hope this doesn't happen toooo often.

LittleRascal · 12/01/2009 07:17

Hi all. still on holiday- leave tomorrow- am sooooo sad at the thought of leaving- he has built up the most amazing bond with my folks and sister, loves the pool and the beach and open spaces. think he is going to hate me when i get back- cold, clothes, my crap cooking, small house, etc!!! i cant stop crying!!!! and i am getting sad as he is starting nursery 2 days a week next week- think i have made the wrong decision about starting work again!!!!

so fly tomorrow-getting nervous already as been getting morning sickness the whole time besides after lunch for a few hours - feels like a constant hangover!!

bumpkin32 · 12/01/2009 08:48

Hi thanks for your advice everyone. I think I'll give the Nursery a go for a while and if she gets ill again, will look for someother way (may start looking at alternatives anyway).
My house is far from clean, dirty dogs and dh running in and out all day, but obviously different types of germs and she's been used to these from day 1!
She was born at 41+2 and was 7lb, 5oz.
Tried to bf but after week of expressing, top-ups, tubes, and still her dropping in weight by 1lb, I gave up, and she's been doing well ever since!

DonDons · 12/01/2009 09:18

Hi Bumpkin and welcome! We start nursery next month too which I am not looking forward to and am still in denial about but I am sure A will love it there (I hope anyway!).

Good luck with the travelling LittleRascal - I don;t envy you at all as I hate flying myself and will avoid it at all costs [scaredy cat emoticon]

Guess what? We are also painting our front room! Must be an April baby thing!

Clarissimo · 12/01/2009 09:23

LR- hugs. Any chance work decision is reversible if you think its wrong for you? (I know not always doable, heck I was working at 9 weeks despite weeping every day with first two ds's).

Spoke too soon, Bas is ill , and dh. And me also but as a Mum I can't afford to take to my bed unlike DH (why is it my job to get kids ready when both at home I wonder? mind you its esier than having him whinging!). It's Australian flu apaprently? going round dh's work; bas has a temperature, spots, I almost called 999 last night as I thought he was about to stop breathing but the calpol kicked in. Poor babY!

LittleRascal · 12/01/2009 12:26

Clarissimo- i pmsl at your post "coz my house is a state and there are no more bugs left to expose them to"- thats how i feel with my house and germs!!!
It is reversible but really think that I need to give it a bash at least for 6 months. its only 2 days per week. and think ds needs the stimulation that they can provide. so torn. but will try give it a bash and I can back out if needed.

scorpio- good advice re: the nursery policys- I am going to ask that one also

Thanks for the luck DonDons

Welcome bumpkin- i have zer experience re nursery but do believe getting their immune system tolerant of others is good- apprently they then have less sickness when go to big school. well thats what im hoping for!!!

LadyBee- hope babybee is on the mend

happy bday for the otheday VS

runniing out of time- so hi to the others

scorpio1 · 12/01/2009 14:18

Hi everyone

Hope all your poorly babies are doing ok.... Scary for bas

I have a hair appt tomorrow YAY YAY YAY also going out for dinner with gf's yay

scorpio1 · 12/01/2009 14:23
