Am I first? Couldn't think of what to call it....

VS - I think she is hungrier, yes, I tried giving more milk, which helped, but then yesterday she spurned more milk for more food (I guess she can't take both) and she did sleep better last night. Woke once at 5.30 for drink water and then 6.30 properly. She is never hungry for her breakfast til about 8 though - does anyone else have this? Should I stop giving a ten o clock feed?

Sorry can't help with work woes; but am expert at nurseries

Sal, Mimi doesn't seem to get poorly from nursery, my nursery are very strict on other ill children coming in the building even. A nanny sounds like a great idea, a share sounds like a plan. You could advertise - try paper, or MN?

Ellie - hi Don't worry about Molly - some take a tad longer to some stuff, then whizz by on others

ds1 didnt walk till 17 months. ds2 at 11 months....any bets on mimi??

We have a totally pink room now YAY

scorpio1 · 08/01/2009 10:05

Oh and we are cutting down on BF now. It;s starting to get to me a bit...does anyone know what i mean?

She is having a cup at lunchtime feed now, dropping one at a time. Want to end up at just morning and night soon.

VSisFlouncing · 08/01/2009 10:24

Yep tomorrow. 28

I'm not offering the breast as much, Panda has a full three meals a day now, with a LOT of food at each meal, so he doesn't need the nutrition from it as much, I think we are on three feeds a day? One before his morning nap, one sometime in the afternoon and then one before bed, which is fine by me. At meal times he has water or juice and he is pretty good at telling me he wants breast rather than juice, i.e he shakes his little fat head, closes his mouth, growls and pulls at my top

scorpio1 · 08/01/2009 10:26

Well i counted yesterday and we had a 7am, 1030 (nap), 2 (FF), 430 and bedtime.

She has 3 big meals too. And makes a growl sort of noise for boob rather than naything else, lol. I want to get to just 7 and bed time...which feed do i attack next? Some of these feeds arent even 5 mintues (430pm)

scorpio1 · 08/01/2009 10:27

oh and 28 isnt old

scorpio1 · 08/01/2009 10:58

Mimi is right teasy today. Teeth, i think. ho hum.

EllieG · 08/01/2009 11:21

Happy birthday VS

Happy Birthday VS!
lololol at 28 being old. I am 38
I think DD may have probs digesting wheat - gave her toast the other day and that night she could hardly sleep for squirming/squealing/obvious discomfort. Last night was fine after no toast/wheat, back to usual waking every 2 hours or so

Clarissimo · 08/01/2009 12:19

Happy Birthday VS.

Clarissimo · 08/01/2009 12:22

Oh a little poem from an e-mail by my sister (her birthday was yesterday)

Happy Birthday to you
I went to the zoo
I saw a fat gorilla
and I thought

'Is the captivity of that animal justified for ecological and educational reasons, or would it be kinder to allow evolution to take its natural, if brutal, course?'

She didn't think it was catchy LOL, but I liked it

VSisFlouncing · 08/01/2009 12:40

(It's tomorrow)
But thanks anyway

Scorpio, I'd probably just cut out the small feeds, the ones that are lasting only a few minutes. If Panda gets obviously tetchy I offer him his cup before the breast so we seem to have cut out 'thirst quenchers'.

PiLs have just been over. Gosh they make me I have to go to Didcot on Monday, I live one side of Oxford, Didcot is the other, PiLs live in centre of OXford. MiL is having the DCs and I need to be at Oxford train station by 9am or Didcot for 9:30. The blooming hassle MiL and I had persuading FiL to bring her over to my house at 8:15 and leave her here, then drive me to Didcot (5 minutes from his house) is unbelievable! Freaking lazy git! He's retired btw, does feck all all day and uses the dog as an excuse not to be out of the house for more than half an hour. Grrrr. Really annoys me sometimes.

chipmonkey · 08/01/2009 12:48

Would love to be 28 again!

TheShipsCat · 08/01/2009 16:31

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had good Christmas hols. Sorry to hear of all the shite on MN, those of you who were upset by it.

I'm back at work 2 days a week now, which is great. But I do miss A. She's having the same problems at nursery, Sal - not sleeping properly and picking up bugs. But I remember that the bugs do start to tail off (after they've caught every possible virus) and I'm sure the sleeping thing will improve. I'm not going to move her anyway, as dd1 is there and very happy.

A has just started to Do Stuff. I left her lying down on the middle of dd1's bed mattress on the floor yesterday, and when I came back she was sitting up, happily cooing on the floor. DD1 denied moving her, but is not a reliable witness.

Apart from that its just bloody cold here. Really bloody cold. I am going to bed wearing gloves, scarves, thermal vests. Very sexy. But all the building work is over and every room apart from one is done now. We had a few structural disasters over new year, but all is fixed now.

LamisilOnce · 08/01/2009 20:27

Very cold here too. Though I think dh likes the odd cold snap! I' m inclined to cuddle in to him more in bed and sometimes there are added benefits!

chipmonkey · 08/01/2009 20:30

Sorry, that was me again! I really must stop posting on the Moldie thread!

Mollyfloss · 08/01/2009 22:27

Hello and happy new year! It's me, the random one who pops out of nowhere from time to time

Just saw you're cutting back BF scorpio and am doing the same. I told myself I'd do this for 6 months 'cos I'd like to conceive sometime soon but here I am still at it at almost 9 months. Only doing the morning feed now and would much rather not stop that one as it's easy peasy to pop baby next to me on the bed but I'll stop soon as I have had had no sign of my period returning, nothing, nada

SalLikesCoffee · 08/01/2009 22:37

Happy New Year to you too, TSC and Mollyfloss!

Chipmonkey, your namechanges make me laugh - every time I look at the name (on threads I'm on) and wonder who on earth this person can be!

Man, but it is cold tonight. Heating's on ever since we came home, but still freezing.

It's so weird, this woman I'm taking over from at work is highly pregnant right now - I have to laugh at myself, I'm so excited on her behalf! Can't believe not long ago that was us (although she looks lovely - I was more the flabby kind of highly pregnant, hehe).

Thanks for all your sharing and advice on the childcare thing. It's nice being able to discuss the nagging things with someone without having to make an actual decision (just yet anyway).

Will spend Saturday on a major tidy up in preparation of mil's arrival on Sunday morning. But weirdly perhaps, I'm really looking forward to her visit now!

SalLikesCoffee · 08/01/2009 22:43

Oh, and VS, happy almost-birthday!!!

SalLikesCoffee · 08/01/2009 22:47

Scorpio - I'm not sure whether it's because of the fact that I felt in control or, which I strongly consider as a possible reason, the drugs. Hehehe, I really am such a whimp. My aneasthetist told me (when I asked her if I should rather try and wait as long as possible before taking the meds afterwards) that no-one wins any prizes for being in pain. I think at that moment I really loved her!

chipmonkey · 08/01/2009 22:55

I would make a terrible troll though. I never remember to change back!

SalLikesCoffee · 08/01/2009 22:57

Lol. Just say it's your split personality talking.

scorpio1 · 09/01/2009 13:34

Mollyfloss - maybe wait another month or so with just the one feed?

We ahev got down to 7am, 1030am and bedtime now. Am happy with that, will drop 1030 one in a couple of weeks. I already miss it but i do want to iyswim. She is nearly 9 months and i was never even going to lol. Will stop totally at 1. And cry. lots. We are going to have a stopping BF celebration party for me and DH

Sal - as long as youre happy! Stil lscares me

LadyBee · 09/01/2009 13:59

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you-ouuuuuu
Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday VS, hope you got a nice breakfast in bed and lovely pressies to open

I've found cutting down my BF to be ok. I did have a few 'moments' but actually I now just feel more relaxed about the ones I'm doing (7AM and 6:30PM) and will probably just continue on with those for a while yet. The evening one helps me re-connect with him after he's been at the childminder and the morning one is nice and snuggly, although I suspect that's the one he'll be ok about moving to a cup with breakfast, as he gets a bit impatient to be up and about.

And actually, I feel that me working is also letting me be more relaxed about my mothering too. I do miss him, but not as much as I thought I would while I'm at work, because I'm busy and concentrating hard. And then on the day I'm with him, I'm REALLY with him, I don't feel tired or bored or distracted, and on the day I'm working at home with him away, I just feel really grateful that I can pop to the shop/post office/prepare some dinner etc in breaks and not have to worry about getting him in the buggy etc.

So it's all good. Not fabulous (for me that would be being at home, but still able to afford a cleaner and paying for one day at a childminder a week...pipedream ), but live-able and a good balance for me.
Sal, stop feeling guilty about enjoying work, I order you. Life is too short to feel guilty about enjoying it.

I don't have any period back yet either...B's been sleeping through the night for a couple of weeks now and I'm only doing 2 feeds a day...surely it'll come soon?

scorpio1 · 09/01/2009 14:53

DH is fighting again, May and july so far (poss feb too). BUT July is in Woking and i'm popping up....anybody?

ThePFJ · 09/01/2009 19:44

Happy Birthday VS, hope its a good one.

Got back from visiting my nan today, she died a few hours after I saw her. She couldn't see baby Jack in the end because there was a serious 'sickness and diahorrea' bug at the hospital and it was dangerous for babies. I did get to say goodbye though, and was the last to see her before they closed the ward to all visitors. The funeral will be next week. I feel ok about it though because she had a long life and she smiled at me and grabbed hold of my hand before I left her, so I feel I got to really say goodbye to her.

I spent the tail end of today chasing round after loose ends of family who had moved and were very hard to contact to let them know what happened, as my dad and aunt etc were a bit too upset to do that. I even managed to get hold of their long lost brother in spain and he's calling my dad today to reaccquaint etc.

I hope I get to live as long as my nan, she was a fantastic lady.

Right, I'm off to put the kettle on. If anyone wants one just shout.
